Review Myfries Poutinerie - Edmonton

Tammy Heggerud
First time and it won’t be the last! We ordered the chicken fajita and the roast beef poutine. Both were absolutely delicious!! Ingredients are fresh and everything was perfectly seasoned. You can tell everything is made from scratch. Nice big chunks of very tender roast beef in a delicious gravy. The chicken fajitas had guacamole, salsa and sour cream on top of tender strips of chicken, green pepper, onion and cheese. For a baked fry, I was quite impressed although I do prefer my fries deep fried. We talked to the owner as well and she told us how they started and their move to the new location.

We thoroughly enjoyed our poutine. There were so many options we able to personalize our own choices. We also love that everything on the menu is gluten free. Definitely worth checking out!

I ordered a regular size poutine. This place bakes the fries instead of deep frying. I came to the conclusion that I prefer deep fried personally. The quality of the fries are good here and they do a excellent job of baking them. If your looking for a healthier version of fries, then this is the place to go. Ample cheese curds were applied. The place was clean and the service was good. I might come back again. If I don’t, it’s only because of my preferred method of preparing fries and like to keep my doctor in business.

Passing through, stopped in and definitely glad we did!! The welcoming atmosphere and unique layout makes this something I've never experienced. Amy the owner was the awesome and served us personally and was super friendly and personable. Ontario NEEDS one of these!! 😜 Can't wait to come back and try something else!!

My first time here and they got my order wrong. I was charged for a poutine with toppings but when I got home I discovered that the toppings were missing. So I'm out $2 and my stomach will be having bad dreams tonight. I had to add my own DIY topping at home. It was also near the end of the day and they ran low on gravy, so the bottom of my box was bone dry and I had to supplement with ketchup. Of course I didn't ask for a receipt, so I can't prove any of this. At least it was still decent tasting. Edit: updated based on response from owner! Appears to have been a miscommunication.

AMAZING!!! Next level fries, wow!! I had the please of meeting the owner, phenomenal woman. You can feel the passion she puts into her recipes. Vegan, GF, dairy free options too. 10/10 Highly recommend!

Absolutely must recommend this place. I was skeptical at visiting this place at first, but when you walk in, I was suprised by the wide array of options and toppings for fries and I felt I was In a poutine bar. There are tons of options for everyone and the million dollar feature is they're fries are baked. I would definitely recommend this place. Customer service was friendly and prices are very reasonable

Love there fries. We have been there many times and will return. Just a bit slow on getting the orders up to the customers. The best one for me is the chilly Fries,

We love this place, the service is always warm and friendly and the food always hits the spot. My partner is celiac, so the GF options are great for us.

Had the pulled pork fries and they were just absolutely awful. The pork was dry and sauce was just a weird red tangy gross sauce. Would not recommend this place.

The fries were mediocre; basically bland and flavourless. The gravy was really good though, and they heaped on enough gravy and toppings that I only managed to have a couple dry fries. I had the prime rib poutine and was impressed by the size, thickness and flavour of the meat. In all, once I mixed the entire poutine together it became a very tasty meal.
I only got halfway through the poutine on my first go. Unexpectedly, I can say that the poutine is equally good when the leftovers are reheated in the oven the day after. The fries hold up better than expected.
The staff were extremely friendly and quick even thought the place was busy; there were only a couple empty tables.

A Large original poutine is now $9.95 with nothing else. Mediocre at best. Baked fries so you get hiccups. Should not have a minimum character count for your reviews! Entire restaurant smells like burning fries. Not a pleasant experience. All told, 9.95 for frozen baked shoestring fries, stale curd, and a 355 ml glass bottle of coke (same size as a regular can) was $3.00!!!!! Don't go there.

Went into a Completely empty store, and after ordering and eating the Poutine, i understand why..... the fries were over cooked, the gravy was beyond bland, it tasted like it was seasoned with dog treats..... Will NEVER go there again... waited 10 mins in an empty store for fries that taste like shit.....

I had a really good meal! A good amount of fries and a better amount of toppings. The toppings were fresh and savory. Staff was friendly. The bar stools were clean. A good lunch spot
Steph
We had my fries the norm alone and butter chicken. I honestly thought the butter chicken had a ton of flavor, but the regular not so much. They needed more cheese curds. I would come back again.

My friend took me here on Friday for lunch - I had never heard of the place before. When we arrived just before noon the place was packed All tables were full and there was a line right to the door. Good sign! The place was new, very clean and the tables were separated by these metal mesh type dividers - great ambiance for a fast food place. I was really impressed with the variety of types of poutine you can get and the prices were better than the other popular poutine place in town. Lots of different, fresh toppings to choose from. Here's their menu: I had the Prime Beef Poutine with carmelized onions and the red wine peppercorn sauce. It was delicious! The red wine peppercorn sauce was so rich and decadent. Felt like I was having a very fancy lunch! And there was a very generous amount of prime beef provided. It was very good and I will definitely return.

This place is amazing!! It's low fat and gluten free. If is family owned and operated and they are wonderful people who are always smiling. The place is modern with chain curtains for somewhat privacy it's s classy touch. The parking lot is easy access also which is hard to find!.

The food is absolutely tasty!!! Delicious!! Especially considering nothing is deep fried here. The prices are definitely reasonable and I would go back in a heartbeat and Reccomend it to everyone I know.

Everything frozen/processed. Ok.I love fries.. I love poutine.. the sign is misleading claiming it's a low fat place?.. then you look at the menu choices and they're definetely not low fat choices.. then the product itself I was amazed to see them dumping frozen fries in their cooker.. and not even good sized or good shaped fries..but frozen shoestring fries... ordered the doNair fries... sauce was so cold it turned my whole meal cold.. I paid way too much for the fries to be frozen... and their stupid $3 bottles of coke.. like I feel like I've been scammed by the end of it all..I just ate cuz I was here and Hungry.. if all you serve is fries..why wouldn't you serve fresh cut fries?... I won't be back.. and I'm not a picky eater.

I love it. I really like the pizza fries, everything is fresh and the portions are generous. I don't understand the negative reviews... the portions are generous and you can easily have lunch for under $10. Almost the entire menu is gluten-free, as a celiac this is the only fast food I can eat. I love this place.
Ryan
Excellent food! The owner is local and the nicest person you'll ever meet! The food and people make you feel good about eating there!

MyFries pountinerie. This place was awesome!!!! The owner was so friendly and explained everything on the menu to me to help me decide what to order. I liked that the fries are baked not deep fried and everything is gluten free. I got the chilli poutine and it was delicious, I would definitely recommend this place. Go try it out!

Small portions for the boxes they offer. Nice decor.
The fries were a little too crispy (oven-baked, so healthier.. but maybe cooked too long?). The ingredients were fair, and the Philly Cheese regular sized poutine box was packed well... but the regular sized classic one that I got was only 1/2 the box. I was a little disappointed... the cheese curds and gravy were good though.
Tater Salad
Not what I expected. Went there as a 'healthier' alternative to fries (with a poutine obsessed wife)
Lady at the till was very friendly, with a big smile when we reached the counter.
Unfortunately, that's as good as it got that day. As a few reviewers have already pointed out, the fries are frozen, bland, and soggy. The toppings (mine was the braised beef) seemed like they came out of can (along with the mushrooms). The meat was grey and unappealing, and they definitely will not fill the boxes...
We ended up throwing away most of our meal to go somewhere else.
Not trying to be harsh, but I wish we hadn't wasted our money.
DK
Just had a lg. classic poutine and sm. chilli cheese fries with the wife.

Overall the fries were crispy, but lacking in flavour. It's nice that they have a classic poutine sauce and use real cheese curds, but their convection oven cooking technique leads to a bland base (the fries themselves).

The other thing to point out is that while they have large 'boxes' for your size options, they only fill them a quarter of the way - so portion sizes are very small for the price.

Lastly, the resturant itself has a weird odour - sort of like burnt oil and fries (which is weird considering they don't use fryers here).

Would not recommend.

I'm confused about all the bad reviews, but oh well. I tried this place for the first time last week and was back two days later. I tried the pizza fries both times and they were amazing! Officially my favourite place to get fast food. I love that the fries are baked, so I don't feel like I'm having a "bad" fast food meal. The service is amazing and the place is very cozy. Also you must get the aioli! I have yet to try the other fries so maybe some of them aren't as good but I will be back a lot since I work right around the corner.

Gross never comming back. They specialize in poutines so u think it would be good the fries are soggy and taste like crap save your money and go else where

Will not return to MyFries. I honestly did not like this place at all! I ordered a small donair fries for $6.35 and barely got anything!! Waste of money I had to go to Wendy's afterward. Way overpriced and the food was bland.

I love it. I love this place for lunch with my three year old. They don't deep fry the french fries, so they don't taste like grease. Everything except two sauces on the menu is gluten free and because they don't have a deep frier there is no concern for cross contamination. i have had quite a few items from this menu and i gotta say my favorite by far is the classic poutine with caramelized onion and mushrooms. I have never been disappointed and I find the owners and employees to be friendly and hugely commentating. I'm also huge about public washrooms and I have never been in a cleaner public bathroom. I think a clean bathroom is a reflection of a great care and respect to the eaters. Thank you

Didn't like it. Ordered a Philly cheese steak in sweet potato fries. we waited for about 15 mins. to get our order. there was only one person working. she takes orders and make them. so while waiting she was cooking more sweet potato fries. when we got home the fries are old and chewy. i dont know if its because it was oven baked. will probably not come back.
Frozen Canuck
What a great place!. I can finally have my tasty fries without feeling gross like I drank a glass of fryer oil with it.
Care Bear Stare if you are a "foodie" then why do you only have 1 review? This competition bashing is ridiculous.
I've been there many times for lunch and I absolutely love it. Their fries are fresh like their homemade toppings and I love the fact that they are oven baked. There is no place like it! Try the regular poutine with hot sauce and bacon bits, it's delish!

I believe in second chances... And today they've lost my business. My husband and I are foodies... Always chasing the next amazing dish.
We ordered donair fries, and the pulled pork. Where do I begin??? The pork was very dry, covered in limp green onions covered in a sauce more reminiscent of a hot wing. The fries are tasty, but what was on top desperately needed a revamp.
I ordered the donair fries. I asked the young lady if it was REAL donair meat... Assuming she'd know the difference between the crap they served and the kit you can ensemble yourself at the grocery store. I got two HUGE slabs of this pastey grey looking meat, and yes, just like a post from another dissatisfied customer, the donair sauce was ice cold... Which in turn made my meat cold, and my fries. But, don't worry, the box was warm... And the bottles of cokes we had with our meal was delicious. Cool concept though... Too bad they fall short on amazing. I will add this though... As a customer who receives a food product that you are suppose to eat with a fork, don't you think it would be in you best interest to make your toppings bite sized?
Oh, and if you want a killer product... Scratch make your toppings instead of bringing in everything frozen. You can taste the difference, and you're really not fooling anyone.

Brad. To all the "won't be back" comments, you must all have been raised here because you have no idea what is real, go back to your mozza wanna be poutine. These are by far the best and truest authentic and classic Quebec poutine outside of Drummondville. Anyone I recommend there is absolutely amazed that this is what a real poutine tastes like.
Aryn Louise
Delicious and friendly service. I stayed to enjoy them while fresh- I really enjoyed the philly poutine and that the fries are baked not deep fried!
Amanda5lynn
Not good. Went there today, never again. Ordered the donair fries... the sauce put on was ice cold (yum warm fries and freezing sauce). I had to take it home to warm it up. The fries were pretty good but i could not get over how you can serve the order like that. Anyways over priced for what you get, could make it better at home.
EDible
The one main ingredient and they can't get it right. Fries texture and taste tasted like it's been frozen twice over. Regardless if they are baked fries, there's no healthy choice when your ordering a poutine or anything else on the menu. So my recommendation go somewhere that will do it right!
NummYummy
Could be better.... The fries are good, crispy and fresh but better without toppings. The gravy was awful. I tried the Philly cheese steak fries and it all tasted the same. No difference in flavours whatsoever. Maybe it was an off day for them. Won't be back.

Save your money....and the calories. Tried this out today....based on a newly ex friends recomendation (well we might give him a second chance...). Will not be going back. If a place is just going to serve fries, they should be better than what you can get elsewhere. What we got was of lesser quality than most burger joints in town- nothing at all special. Portions were small and expensive for what amounted to a small potato worth of food. New York Fries has nothing to worry about with this place.

Delishisly Different. Was introduced to My fries about a month ago First visit I ahd the Chili cheese fries, they were very good. Chili is homemade from a family recipe. Next Visit I tried the Donair fries again they were very good My only complaint is that the donair meat is served in full slices. I ended up cutting it up into smaller pieces so I could have topping with my fries. I have had the small portion sizes and they are perfect not too much and not too little Staff is very friendly and helpful if you arent to sure what to try
CyniC-
Ya know what? I like it. Will I go out of my way to come back? Maybe with someone else who hasn't tried it.... It's not disgusting and it's definitely not out of this world good. I mean, it can't be, it's baked! It really is! They've got special machines there to bake it. You can actually taste the real potatoes as opposed to the grease that makes up most of the normal fries in other places. It's very roomy and tidy inside. I felt more out-of-town when I was inside. Not sure why. Nice place to come to if you are working nearby or if you are just plain curious. I hope the hype lasts because I think it's a worthwhile addition to Edmonton's food scene. We need innovation here.

Only Once. I tried this place for the first time today. The staff are friendly but I will not be back. There are too many places with much better food. I had the chile cheese selection which had some very average chile and a small sprinkle of shredded cheese on it. $9.70 for a regular fries and a small coke is not good value for money.
Bradley Kosik
Very good and if you get there lunch deal very cheap 6 dollars for a poutine and pop , and the portions are real big.
BananaRocket
Good fries, but needs more.. Service is good.

room is kinda strange with all chains as dividers. Not enough tables. Looks like an amateurs awkward attempt at getting a slick modern design.

Portions are kinda small considering is just potatoes.

I found the best thing there is just the classic poutine. All the other toppings are a bit weak.

They really need to sell something other than fries to make it a meal, maybe hot dogs...

Ok concept but really needs a lot of improvement.

MyFries Fan. I tried myFries because a co-worker recommended it and I am now a fan. I have gone here a couple times since they've opened and I have not been disappointed. The owners are friendly and the food has great flavors without being greasy. 10/10!!!

Food:4.0/5.0, Service: 4.0/5.0, overall Experience: 4.0/5.0

I love the idea of low fat fries and this place makes it as a lunch choice. I ordered their chili cheese fries last week and it was delicious. A little bit pricey, but worth it to try. I am definitely coming back to try out the other selections.

I would recommend this place for a quick and health lunch alternative from your standard fast food selection.
Food Dude
Not the best but okay. Good points for selection and "baked" fries. I had a regular poutine, good portion size, a bit salty and could use more cheese curd. I would return to try some of the many options.

Awesome Healthy Fries!. I love the Poutine! real cheese curds and great gravy! I love that the fries are not deep fried which means that I finally found fries that my Boyfriend can eat! Also NO msg, it seems like this nasty ingredient is in so many restaurants and it makes both my Boyfriend and myself sick so to anyone wanting msg free and healthy fries with homemade ingredients this is a awesome stop!
Tim
Fantastic Poutine!. Stopped in for the first time last week and really enjoyed the poutine. The gravy was fantastic and the cheese curds were imported from Quebec! If you like poutine you absolutely have to try it! Also going back to try their other more interesting dishes.
Ryan
Decent. We've been here for lunch twice now. Both times it was good. Prices are a LITTLE high for fries but hey these people need to make a living. I was impressed with the freshness of the ingredients they use. My only complaint is that the fries, just by themselves are quite average. I understand that they are baked so naturally they probably wouldn't taste as good as deep fried. I guess that comes with the territory of healthier eating. Anyways, overall good service and decent food. However if you are REALLY craving a good poutine, New York Fries would still be my first choice.
Jodie
It was delicious! It was a bit overpriced for the size of the meal though.
Gluten Free Edmonton
#fullpost{display:inline;} As always, we welcome guest blog posts from our readers. I love the Bloggers that just eat their way through a city, but Amanda and I are not always as adventurous and because of the nature of our blog, people just love to write in and share their experiences. So it certainly saves us a trip to a restaurant or store. This guest post is from Emily who visited MyFries: Just wanted to let you know about a new french fry joint that's recently opened up in Edmonton. They're called My Fries , located at 16934 107 Ave NW, in a complex along with Fat Burger, Dairy Queen, etc. Their premise is the "healthy fries"; all their fries are baked and their ingredients are fresh and free of trans fat. They offer sweet potato fries as well. They also have a gluten free gravy. I haven't tried anything but their basic poutine, but it was so delish, and, I have to say, much better than La Poutine . They offer different poutine combinations as well, and I'm not sure which of

A special oven and no oil... just plain cut potatoes that still end up crispy goodness... If you're a fan of baked thin cut fries, or like your fries smothered and mooshy, then MyFries will be an easy favorite.

Someone I worked with knew I used to be crazy about poutines, so he suggested lunch at a place called MyFries that serves only poutines and nothing else. The place was small, but it looked clean and bright. Customers could seat themselves at any of the tables and order food at the counter. I was glad to see that apart from regular soft drinks, there were several Jones Soda flavours available. I picked up a cream soda ($2.25); it was light, fizzy, and refreshing! Against my better judgement, I didn't take the classic poutine with just gravy and cheese curds. Instead I opted for BBQ pulled pork (reg: $7.99), which I had expected would consist of moist and tender pulled pork and a generous amount of rich brown sauce. What I got was far from that. The pork was not "pulled", but rather in large coarse chunks covered in a thick tomato sauce that tasted like it came out of a can. The sauce did not go well with the pork, and there wasn't even enough to go with the fries on the bottom. The othe
