Review Bistecca Italian Steakhouse Wine Bar - Edmonton

Very welcoming, hospitable staff. We popped in for dinner on Saturday night, as pasta lovers we often frequent their downtown location but we’re in the area and noticed they’d recent opened a new location in South / Century Park. Upon arrival we were instantly greeted by friendly host who found us a table right away despite our lack of reservation. Our server was great, very friendly and hospitable. It turns out it was the last night of their traditional Garlic Festival.

Last couple of times Sorrentino's were okay and before I started do reviews. However this time I am impressed and its improvement. The food here is good. The appetizers we ordered was beet salad, flat bread and tomatoe sauce based mussels. The sauce in the mussels is good but you wish they give you more bread to mop up the sauce. It has a nice tangy flavour. Penne Arrabiata is good as it has the nice spicy kick not overwhelming that overwhelms your tastebuds. Even the penne was cooked al dente with a bit of resistance. I forgot what the others ordered but I have provided pictures. However they are good. Dessert was good too bad panna cotta was sold out. The only negative I have to say is that beet salad is disappointing. I noticed there were a couple beets considering this is a beet salad I was expecting a bit more. Service is excellent!! Our waitress is funny and attentive. She even gave a suggestion to start an email account for new born babies to show them when they get older. I would come back again.

Came here before the Garth Brooks concert. Our meal was superb and the service was even better. All staff members were incredibly friendly and the owner was helping out where he could, chatting up tables and ensuring everyone was enjoying themselves. Will definitely return, thanks for a great meal!

Great service. Clean. Modern. On the fancy side. Great food. Fresh and tasty. Great cocktails. Expensive. But worth it for a good evening out. Good sized portions. You will not have room for dessert, which was also great! They also have a BYOWine (free corkage)..reminded me of my Montreal days!! Patio open as well. Seemed like they had a wood pizza oven going on (but we never tried the pizza).

Went there to night to celebrate 3 birthdays in my family and I’m just in awe with the wonderful service we received. The food was fantastic and exceeded expectations as well. Thank you to the staff, manager and kitchen for delivering a exceptional experience for my family!

Went there about a month and some ago for GARLIC FEST. The food was so good, but kinda pricey. We went there on a sunday night. I thought it was a nice restaurant so me and my date dressed up quite nice. We were sat on the main path through the restaurant, right next to the only other table in the place, a family with screaming babies. We ordered garlic knots (yummmmm), and I had a seafood linguine (with garlic). Everything was very tasty, and our server was super nice. The whole vibe of the place was just weirdly dead though.

So unfortunately, a bit of a disappointing night. This restaurant used to operate under the Bistecca brand and we've always had great service under that brand. It was a family (and business) regular for us. First off they didn't have the bottle wine that we like - they were out. Secondly, there were wine bottle specials that our waitress did not tell us about (I over heard her telling another table so I asked). No bread was provided, so I went up and asked for some - it came immediately upon request. For dinner, I ordered the arctic char it was busy so things were taking a while. More than half an hour after ordering we were told that they were out of arctic char so we needed to order another dish - which I did. BTW the arctic char is on their special garlic-fest menu, but they were out. As my daughter was hungrier than I was, I told them to bring everything else out and that we would wait for the last meal, but they did not. We waited another 15 min and then finally everything came out. Lastly, the one dessert we liked we were told they were out of as well....wow. Now to be fair...the manager provided an extra side of pasta with the delayed meal - which we did not request. But honestly, I would have preferred to pass on the "extra pasta" (which I don't like anyway and is way too much food) and be comped for the meal (not beacuse they were out - that happens - but because it took them more than half an hour to tell us). I was in no mood to argue so when we were done we settled up and left. Saving grace was the live music was good and the food (that was available) was good. I've had great service at the west end and dowtown locations. While further away, I think it would be worth the extra effort to have an enjoyable meal.

Brunch at Bistecca. Greater immediately after walking in the door. Found us a table rift away even though we don’t have a reservation. We are looking for the lunch menu however it is brunch only so we improvise. Drink orders of vesper, margarita ( is a slurpee type)and Spanish coffee for the table. We head up to the brunch of cheeses, croissant, salmon, mussels, tomato salads, butternut squash ravioli, eggs Benedict, roast beef and ham, veg, waffles, bacon and desserts. Eggs Benedict is average, hollandaise is less than memorable, mussels and shrimp are served cold and on the rubbery side, tomato and feta salad is high on vinegar and short on feta. Butternut squash ravioli is store bought, short on flavor and has a disappointing onion garnish. Desserts of fruit and pre made desserts.
Service is average at best. Have to request coffee refills and staff do not return to check on us through out our meal. Disappointing device and flavors for the price of our meal.

Disastrous from the moment I walked in... The hostess will profile you based on what you wear upon arrival, she will also gossip about you with the bartender, who conveniently forgets that you wanted cucumber and not lime for your gin even after you specifically asked for it. The "dinner roll" that should never have been brought the table or even served at a restaurant like this, was chewy, like plastic or stale chewing gum. The beef carpaccio ordered was semi-frozen to the plate, and smelt of feet. I was in and out of the restaurant in 20 minutes, a proper so-called meal at an " Italian" restaurant" should have lasted another hour for one person; though I am glad I was ushered out of the restaurant quickly, as spending another second at such a disenchant restaurant would be a waste of time and money.

Cheryl just now
Bistecca Restaurant
Discovered this Sorrentino restaurant, Bistecca, after a friend gave us a gift card for Christmas. We tried Bistecca out and since then have returned several times for date night, but last night when we invited our friends, our experience in terms of quality of food, was most disappointing. This was embarrassing for my husband and I, as we had spoken highly of this restaurant, based on our previous visits which we were treated to great service and high quality, well-plated food. On this particular evening out, the restaurant was particularly busy and let our party down. Many of the features we were accustomed to, like the amazing foccacia bread with the balsamic and olive oil was unavailable, as was the lack of perfectly cooked vegetables and roasted potatoes. we were accustomed to. Our favourite salad, the hot, grilled Caesar, did not compare in temperature, i.e. hot off the grill, which changed the texture and flavour we had experienced before. Our steaks were overcooked, dry and tough on this occasion.. Our server, tried hard to address our concerns, called upon the manager, who initially seemed a bit taken aback with our comments, but laterly reassured us that this experience was not typical. Consequently, we did not eat in the entree, so we didn't order our favourite dessert, the crepes flambe or the creme brulee. We might consider giving Bistecca one more try, based on previous visits .We hope Bistecca will come through with the wonderful food and service we've experienced in the past. We do not want to write this restaurant off, and will likely give it another try and hope that this particular evening, was a one off.

Well what a disaster! If it could go wrong it did tonight at Bistecca.

Too many things to list in this one review, the thing that really disappointed me most was the so called manager throwing the server under the bus and blaming him. Such a terrible manager who was defensive making pathetic excuses and not taking any responsibility.

The waiter/server was wonderful and too be commended on his professionalism in a difficult situation that was none of his doing.

The food was worse than mediocre, really poorly executed and overpriced.
You would expect a restaurant of this caliber to execute a steak perfectly, however, they just managed to completely destroy it to a chunk of dried up shoe leather.

The poached egg on the asparagus Milanese was straight out the fridge and colder than a day old boiled egg, but it was okay because that's how the manager liked it! Really!

I could go on and on, but my advice would be to just give this place a miss. If you enjoy well cooked and excellent food Bistecca is not the place you.

Give it a miss!

Bistecca if you change your manager please let us know, we might give you a try again! 'Till then thanks for the bad memories, because my party has no intention of returning.

A group of us (20) went there for my birthday party. Slowest service ever. Our server had our table and a few more to service. Few of us ran out of water, and each time have to wait 15-20 mins. They suggested we try the steaks because their famous chef was there that night. And the steaks are tough and dry. Over-hyped and under deliver. Overall experience are bad. Won't be back for sure.

This is my favourite restaurant in Edmonton. Service and food are A plus. I've been here at least 20 times and I always leave impressed. The Butternut Ravioli is amazing and their salads are always fresh and delicious.

Appearance: The restaurant is in good shape, it is clean and has cloth napkins and tablecloths. It is quite dark in the restaurant and I think it would brighten the place up if there was just a bit more light.

Service: The service was great. On this particular visit I would give them 4.5 out of 5 for service. When we walked in, we were greeted right away and they did ask if we had a reservation (in a nice tone) and when we said no they responded with a smile and a reply of no problem we can sit you right away. The restaurant was not busy, but even if it was I hope they still would of treated us as friendly even if we had to wait for a table. Our waitress was very friendly, genuine and attentive. Good job, staff at Bistecca, make people feel welcome no matter what!

Food:
Bread and Oil: The bread was served warm, but it had no flavor and we each only got one small piece each

Tasters: Smoked Salmon - for $4.00 I got three pieces of smoked salmon with some thin slices of toast, maybe my expectations are too high, this is NOT Italian smoked salmon, it is smoked salmon that I can buy at my grocery store and throw a bit of pepper on and add toast and there you go...Nope not Italian smoked salmon at this proclaimed Italian restaurant

Marinated artichokes - for $4.00 I got two artichoke hearts, they should be flavorful and fresh tasting, but they had no flavor and the texture was mushy, not pleasant at all, they were served with a bowl of shaved carrot pieces with olives and peppers which was better than the artichokes

BUTTERNUT SQUASH RAVIOLI
-spicy garam masala cream reduction, dried ricotta, toasted hazelnuts- I had this dish and it was not bad, but I do not think it is Italian in any way. It just did not seem right to have garam masala flavor in an Italian restaurant. The ravioli were a bit overcooked and the therefore the texture was off and the garam masala overpowered the dish making it fell heavier than it should be.

Dessert: Coconut Sorbetto with a berry crumble pie- the Sorbetto was very refreshing, but the pie was lacking flavour and the crust seemed a bit stale.

Go Again: Maybe

Bistecca Restaurant

This restaurant is one of our favourites. We regularly visit here and have come to the point where we just ask Chef Sonny Sung and his excellent staff to just "make " us something. Today both of us have had a week or so of intense work load and are totally bushed. When it came time to order from Debra our server, I just said I am "brain dead"'and couldn't make a decision if my life depended on it. Debra to the rescue, we had a series of ASSAGGINI or "little bites" brought to us that almost read our minds as to what we would like. The last serving was a small "off the menu" serving of beef short rib ravioli. An amazing light meal over an extended period of time that allowed us to relax, collect our thoughts and then share them with each other. This is the kind of dining we experienced daily in Europe and have tried to find at home. A wonderful meal, attentive servers and great kitchen that gave us a well deserved evening together. When in Edmonton you must try this fine little restaurant located at 23rd Ave and 111th Street.

We had dinner on a Sunday evening and it was delightful. Beautiful interior. Appetizers, steaks, and crepe dessert were all delish and expertly presented. We had an excellent red wine, at a slightly chilled temp. So nice. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Maitre d' was very experienced and professional. Well done! We will definitely go back.

I can honestly say this was the best steak I have ever had. Tender perfection. The food was excellent and ample; we especially liked being able to combine small samplers of starters "Assaggini" - little tastes. Another winner is the Beef Short Rib Ravioli. Our visit was especially enjoyable because, while there was light jazz music playing, we were not bombarded by kitchen noise or high ceiling "clatter" that seems to be the standard at newer, trend driven restaurants. The staff is well informed and very friendly and overall the restaurant is elegant yet relaxed.

Worst service ever!! Will never go back!
They changed the menu and I don't know what happened. I can't even describe the service as you would not BELIeve it!!

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a meal here on Sunday.

1. Great meal, both our steaks were done to perfection.

2. Very nice bottle of wine

3. Very attentive and polite service.

:( Unfortunately they did not honor a promotion they offered. The promotion was "If you return in the month of January you get 25% off your entire meal". When I received the billed I notice a discrepancy. The server indicated the discount was only on food items and not drinks. This was not indicated, in fact it stated the 25% off would be on the ENTIRE meal. Upon checking with the manager she said they could not do anything, their "system" would not allow it.

Although the amount was relatively small, the embarrassment in front of my girlfriend was significant. Sorry Bistecca, if I can't trust you with fixing a little thing how can I trust you with the rest of your food service?

>Came for supper here a few months ago. Never got around to reviewing it, But I see a few of the things I ate are no longer on the menu. >We were a bigger group, So to start with the place/menu is quite conducive to larger groups. The assaginni was perfect to pass around a few small plates and get everyone In the mood to eat along with some antipasti. Smoked salmon, Carpaccio, Calamari, Sausages, Prosciutto, Olives..... You get the idea. It was great. >Now that everyone was ready to eat, we ordered a healthy mix of everything they had to offer. Wild ragu gnocchi, Ribeye steak, Lamb shank, Duck, Bison cannelloni, The sorrentino pizza and 2 repeats. >I wont go over every dish but the star of the night was the Bison cannelloni. It was perfectly balanced and rich as it comes. Definitely not something I'd eat if I was on a diet, But what a plate of food! I would go back for this dish alone. The steak was done just as you would expect a steakhouse to prepare it. Very nice job there as well. The duck, Lamb shank and Ragu gnocchi were packed with flavor, Perfectly seasoned and left everyone fully satisfied. >The only criticisms I have on the night would be the duck portion was definitely on the small side, Likely 4oz of meat. For $30 I would've hoped for a bit more. The other nit pick I have was the pizza, Now don't get me wrong the crust was exactly how it should be. Slightly charred, Crunchy and just all around delicious. The toppings, I felt, took some of that away. Even though I know Italian pizza is supposed to be light and thin, I felt it was a little too sparse. Little more meat and cheese would have gone a long way. By no means were either of these dishes bad mind you.>The service was also on point, No criticisms at all. Food, Wine(lots of wine) and Anything else came out promptly, the staff were incredibly knowledgeable of the food and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you for doing it right. It's becoming a rare thing these days.>Overall this place is great, I'd recommend this to anyone for a date night or even a special occasion as we did. It's not cheap, But you certainly get value here.

Visiting Edmonton for business, my collegues took me out to dinner at Bistecca and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I had the bison steak and though it was perfect. It always seems as if specialty meats are always better in Alberta than BC. Suprising the prices here are quite reasonable for what they serve. We also tried a number of appitizers and thought they were all great. Overall a great dinner and great place to visit if you are in Edmonton for a short visit.

Although service was top notch we had to reflect lack of management expertise in some way... So, our only recourse was via the tip. Sad. Two of us had pasta dishes which were flavourful but very salty. Possibly the cheese had saltiness plus the addition of salt was too much. The only real problem was when I thought I had broken a tooth... Upon investigating the contents of my fork full I found shards of muscle shells that crunched like bits of broken tooth in my mouth. Very unpleasant. Granted, I had ordered the seafood pasta and although it was generously filled with beautifully cooked squid, shrimp, and clams there were no muscles. I had eaten 3/4 of my meal (& enjoyed it) by the time I ran across the offending bits of broken shell. I let the waiter know and the manager came to see me. I explained to him what I have explained here. He said that shells can get broken when they prepare the seafood dishes. I said I understood that but it was odd to find shells from something that was not part of my meal but I was glad it was a food item (& not broken crockery as I'd found in a meal in Cuba). No one died, I had enjoyed my meal, I had eaten most of it. I was pleasant about it but explained that it is a very unpleasant thing to eat sandy, sharp, shards of shell. I did not, therefore, expect to have a comp meal... However, I did expect that perhaps the $3 upcharge for gluten free pasta might get removed, out of courtesy... Or, that my $4 beverage might be taken off, but no, full price for everything. This place charges a healthy price for their meals. So, I can not give full marks to a fine dining meal when it ended with the sensation of crunching on broken shells plus no marks can be given to management who thinks its okay to fully charge for such an experience. If I had been rude or insisted I not be charged perhaps that would have made a difference? To me, this is about courtesy and service - I should not have to insist nor ask for it. We will not be going back.

Reservation for dinner on route to concert at Commonwealth Stadium.
Fairly impressed.
Solid menu.
Reasonable prices.
Great ambiance.
Service...well lets just say our server seemed...overwhelmed and perhaps a little confused.

Their " Little Tastes" appi. options entices an "I'd like one of everything" responce.
I settled on the Calabrese Sausage, and the Grilled Scallops. Both quite good. Sauce with scalops I found to be on the very spicey side.
One of my favorite things is thar they offer "half orders" of pasta. So naturally..I had to try two different pastas!
House-made Bison Cannelloni, rich and delicious.
Beef Short Rib Ravioli....AMAZING. Probably the most decadent ravioli I have ever had. I...personally...highly recommend this dish!
Between the wife and I, we enjoyed 3 "little tastes", 2 half orders if pasta, one dinner of Brazed Pork Belly (from additional, seasonal menu...delicious!), one glass of wine, and a Coconut white chocolate Creme Brule (which was decadent and savory). All for $120 before tip.
We will be back!

We went on a Tuesday evening, so the establishment wasn't overly busy. The staff were very attentive. We were seated immediately. Our server gave us an excellent rendition of the menu and the daily specials. Everything was done with the utmost courtesy and professionalism.
The timing of our server was spot on for giving ample time to enjoy our cocktails, appetizers, the main course and dessert.
Food was delicious; Pasta Main and the Pork Tenderloin were our Entree's at couldn't have been better!
The offering of Cheese and a glass of wine as an after dinner delight rather than a calorie and sugar packed dessert was a really great option (Despite it being a great option we still went for the calorie & sugar!)
2 Cocktails, 2 Appetizers, 2 Main Courses and 1 Dessert came to $98...not an unreasonable price at all!!
I have to say that I eat out a lot, and Bistecca reminded me of what it meant to eat in a place that has a LOT of experience in the restaurant industry and an establishment that I interpret to REALLY CARE about your dining experience. A real dining pleasure.

Nice atmosphere. Real table cloths. Steaks were great. Service was good. Only two baby potatoes - a little chincy for an expensive dinner. I also don't like the stacked on top presentation - Very 1992. Didn't like it then.
Don't like it now. Other elements of the presentation were minimal. They succeed in reminding me of the steak placers of my youth. Over all, better then average. Not as good as Chop. Not as expensive either.
Mixed review! The staff is wonderful. I was very impressed and I am not the type that likes lots of attention. We had the escargot and the prawns. Both were cold and the escargot were dry and uneventful. The prawns, but for the temperature, was good. My wife had the tenderloin which she enjoyed. I had the ribeye which was underwhelming. Not that it was bad. There was nothing special about it. My wife tried it but she also found it to be dry and not particularly flavourful.

Dessert was enjoyed by all. My wife had chocolate lovers delight and I had the tiramisu.

Front of House was superb.

I think I've found my steak "Go To" place. My wife & I visited for the first time, she had pizza & salad, which she said was good and I had the Flat Iron Steak. The service was excellent and if my steak was any indication of their other steaks, I think I've found my "go to" place for steak dinners!

Go somewhere else. We went there for our anniversary, the food was sub par, and as for the service, they made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. I've had a lot better Italian cuisine for a lot cheaper. Over priced and mediocre food.
M.mccolman
Great places but not very attentive servers.. The dinning room is beautiful, the food is impeccable, and the wine list is divine. The only thing I have to say was as nice as the server was she didn't check on us very often, and the breaks between courses was way to long. It took 45 minutes for us to get our main. But other than that I'd totally go back.

By Far - Most Terrible Dining Experience. We were there to celebrate, not complain, not get a free meal. We were there to enjoy a nice evening out. However, the parade of "horrible" began with no waiter/waitress coming to our table to let us know we would be taken care of by him/her for the evening. Two people, in a very uncoordinated and poor manner tried to serve our table. It felt more like an assembly line approach rather than a fine dining experience. We had to ask for bread twice (were told the "other" waiter was told to bring us bread) and in the end it came from the other person after our cocktails were finished and at the same time as our appetizers.

The table setting was stark and had only a small uncentered candle on a stained white table cloth. When the appetizers went along with our drinks, we were waiting for the main course looking at a drink stained, plain white table cloth. Very unpleasant.

The quality of the food and drinks added to this evening or "horrible." Usually a wine drinker, I decided to try one of their speciality drinks (a frozen lime margarita). It came in a tall fluted glass (not margarita style) and was the worst margarita I've ever had. Incredibly bitter. My guest, who also tried it, thought I should return it.

The calamari had a "flour" after taste. The main course of Arctic char was terrible. The char had a salsa verde with a walnut coating which was pure salt and was a hardened coating on my fish that could not even be scraped off. The fish underneath was dry and overcooked. It came served on three spinach bundles (which look exactly like the frozen bundles one would find in a grocery store) and looked (and tasted) like they came directly from the pot of water. There was not a single flavour or seasoning to the bundles. The risotto at first bite had a strange after taste that was reminiscent of a burned plastic taste. It was not at all edible. Servers told us this was saffron. It was not saffron we were tasting in the dish. The meals went back barely touched, we paid full price and the $130.00 evening (with tip which I felt compelled to pay although the service really didn't warrant it -- the male partner of the two "servers" actually argued with me about the spinach experience).

A very disappointing evening. I'm not sure why the restaurant seemed fairly full. Perhaps family and friends who feel obligated to attend. I wouldn't recommend it.

BISTECCA And The "Little Bites". We come to the Bistecca periodically(a few times a year) since this great restaurant opened. Sonny has done always done a wonderful job with the menu. Today we decided to pop in for a small "nosh" as my wife has found full meals far too large to comfortably work through. So we were introduced to the Assaggini or Little Bites. We asked Chef to give us an nicely balanced /complimentary mix of these little bites and we're completely impressed. So much so that we had to have another. Our server Shayna and Maitre'd Stefan have provided an excellent environment to enjoy our meal and compliments to both. All in all an enjoyable evening for every one to experience.

Those who have read my previous review of this restaurant know or understand that This restaurant is one of our favourites. My wife Laura and I regularly visit here and have come to the point where we just ask Sonny Sung and his excellent staff to just "make " us something. Today both
Laura and I have had a week or so of intense work load and are totally bushed. Amazing!!!. We go out Dining very often and we expect the best when we go out. If you want amazing food amazing service and a beautiful atmosphere this restaurant is for you. Our server was there to help us the whole evening he always make sure that we were looked after no matter what the situation was. We were having such a good time we spent almost 3 hours at the restaurant and the server kept coming and looking after us and making sure that we were happy. Even the manager stopped by three times to make sure that everything was good it was amazing!! If you want a truly amazing evening you need to go to Bistecca!!

Anniversary Dinner. We chose Bistecca for our wedding reception dinner a few years back. This week my husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary dinner there and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Chateaubriand was seasoned and cooked to perfection, the appetizers were delicous and the complimentary dessert wine topped off the evening. Service is top notch and I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family wihtout hesitation.

Excellent!. We took our friends (who are visiting us from Ontario) to Bistecca for dinner last night to celebrate their anniversary. We have been there several times for lunch and always enjoyed it, but this was our first time for dinner. Everything was excellent. We received a very warm welcome and were seated immediately. Our server (Kevin) was absolutely outstanding. He made an excellent wine recommendation and was also very knowledgeable about the menu. Our wine and water glasses were kept topped up and he was always there when we needed him without "hovering". A true professional.

The food was also excellent. Our appetizers were very good and for their entrees our friends had the duck duo and the beef rib and both were presented beautifully and full of flavor. My wife had the angel hair pasta with prawns and it was just as good as on the other occasions she has had it. I had the penne with sausage, feta and sun dried tomato's. It was superb.

We did not mention that it was our friends anniversary, but Kevin overheard us toasting them and came over to congratulate them. After we finished our entrees he offered them a complementary Tiramisu and also brought each of us a complimentary desert wine.

All in all a wonderful evening - we will be back, and soon!

WORST SERVICE EVER. We have been here many many times and honestly it's gone downhill. When Mark left so did the service. Last night we dined for a special occasion (birthday) and after our meals were delivered out sever never returned to our table. We sat there with empty wine and water glasses! The new manager did comp one of our four meals but back in the Mark days we would have been brought champagne at minimum. On a good note the food was still fantastic but with the service level so poor I will not return anytime soon sadly.

Top service good food feedback non-existant. Four of us arrived on time for our reservation and were promptly seated. The restaurant was full but it was Saturday. Tammy our server took our drink orders and they were served in 5 minutes. They were actually so good we ordered another round. Approximately 15 minutes afterwards Tammy took our orders and provided very good information about our orders. Wine was ordered and placed on the table after 5 minutes. Our aps arrived 15 minutes after placing the order. I had the mussels which were very tasty. They really need to provide a bowl of warm water with lemon to wash the fingers or a moist towelette. The mains were brought 15 minutes after we were done with the appetizers. Tammy was around to ensure everything was right. I had the New York which was good but there was a strange puree on the plate as well with a strange tasting allspice whipped in. This did not go very well with the steak so I scraped as much away from the steak as possible but remnants remained to add an unagreeable taste to the steak. This puree could have been presented on a side plate. The others at the table were very pleased with their meal as well. All in all a good experience and top notch marks for Tammy who took care of us and had a very good sense of humor. I sent in a feedback email regarding the experience and my recommendations listed above but after 3 weeks still no reply. I sent another email and was told that management would "get back to me." A shame about this lack of customer response. We may return but the puree will be ordered on the side and we will bring our own wet wipes. Bottom line is we would recommend Bistecca.

Absolutely blown away by the service. Wonderful atmosphere. Excellent menu options. The two entrees ordered by us were shared one steak one fish dish. Absolutely plan on going back and would recommend to anyone wanting a date night. We will be telling family and friends to give this restaurant a try.

Terrible food. Great service. Thanks Jennifer

Very bad food!. My friends Ciopinno was awful especially with the sour cream added at the end which made the broth look curdled. My chicken mushroom pasta in cream sauce was so dry yet greasy from butter or oil and just a few bites of chicken to be found. Carmen Ragu needs to get back in the kitchen for quality control!

Smart, friendly service. I had heard fairly good things about the restaurant and my husband and I decided to try it out for our monthly 'date night'. Our server, Deborah was knowledgeable about the menu and was also able to help us pair our meal with a new wine that was unfamiliar to us. Overall I would rate our experience quite high - the food menu had a great selection and the service exceeded our expectations.
Jess
Love it. Everything about this restaurant pleased me. The atmosphere is very conducive especially for dates. The servers are professional and the food was very good. My favourite thing ever was the virgin mojito. As I do not drink alcohol, it was simply the best virgin mojito I have had in any restaurant in Edmonton. I would highly recommend this place.
Jennifer
Best in South Edmonton. Just went to eat here for the first time last weekend and really enjoyed the Bison Cannelloni and escargot...hmmm!! Service was great (Deborah -recommended by friend) and very helpful for our food & wine selections. Nice to have Italian and steak options to meet my families needs, and the location is excellent if not wanting to go to South Common or downtown.

Highly Recommend. My husband and I visited Bistecca for the first time this past Saturday evening. I had the Bison Canneloni and he had the Lamb. We both found the food to be EXCEPTIONAL! The service provided by Deb was outstanding with a wonderful dose of humour! Will definitely be back!

A decent spot. I came here on a first date last week, figuring it for a safe bet. The atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for, the food was good, and the service was prompt. My server, Jen, was helpful and accommodating to my allergies. I had the seafood linguine. Highly recommend.

Had a great meal at Bistecca, the food was awesome, good selection of wine and Deborah was quick and friendly.

Tasteful & Elegant. Dinned at Bistecca last week with my partner and enjoyed an exquisite 3 course meal celebrating our 2 year anniversary. The food was outstanding and service was extremely complimenting to our evening. Deborah our waitress was knowledgeable about the wines and recommended excellent dishes for the both of us. Will be returning soon! I rate the service and food a 9 out of 10

A Touch of Class. We've always enjoyed our nights out at Bistecca for special occasions or otherwise. Deb makes the experience all the more special. She's friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The menu is great but it's always nice to have a warm welcome. See you again soon!

Great Meal. Wonderful place to eat with fantastic food and service. Nikki was very helpful with great suggestions as to order. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone to visit. Will visit again when I am in Edmonton.

-----27 Feb, 2014-----

Great meal and service. Thank you so much for the wonderful meal and fabulous service from Nikki. My husband and I really enjoyed our night out. We will definitely make a return visit when we are in Edmonton again.

Memorable. Bistecca is pricey and for this reason we only go on very special occasions. That being said, our experience has always been amazing and you get what you pay for!

This past time, Jennifer (our waitress) made my wife's birthday special. We ordered steaks, one with a blue cheese sauce and one with a red wine sauce. For dessert, we split a nutella/banana pie. Everything tasted great. Overall, a nice evening on the town.

Another restaurant that writes their own reviews. Pretty Sad...

I had a great time at bistecca last night. My friends and I just wanted some wine and some appetizers so we got a plate of the small cheeses and meets. It was perfectly satisfying. Jennifer made great suggestions on what to pick and was really nice. I will go back to try more of the menu

Great food, great service!. We were visiting from out of town and at the suggestion of friends, decided to try Bistecca. It turned out to be the perfect place for dinner - good atmosphere and great food! Our server Deborah was very helpful when it came time for us to choose what to try out of the many delicious sounding options! We had a wonderful night out and will certainly be back again during our next visit.

Many thanks to Jennifer for great Valentines day. Our dinner were just delicious.

Special Anniversary Dinner. This was our second consecutive anniversary at Bistecca Italian Steakhouse. Similar to last time, the food was outstanding, as were the service and ambiance. Considering the quality and ambiance, I found the price to be quite reasonable--$100 including wine for a couple. We will definitely return and ask for Jennifer, who took great care of us.

Yummy Food, Great Service. Visited a few weeks ago and had the pleasure of Debbie being our waitress. We had steaks and wine and a hangover the next day. In my books, a fantastic night out. 5 Stars!
Sarah
Best Service in Town. Had a fantastic evening last week. Deborah took care of us and the service was amazing. Extensive wine knowledge and the food was fantastic. You can tell she really loves her job. Try the prawn appetizer, still dreaming about it. Mmmm....

Good times. This was our third visit to Bistecca and once again we were more than impressed. The food and atmosphere are great but the service by Deborah was outstanding. Will be back.

We had a great evening with our cousins from out of town. Deb looked after us well.

Vito is the best!. Vito is without a doubt one the best servers ever! Never fails to amaze me - his recommendations (even when it's something we wouldn't ordinarily order) are always a party for the palate!
If you haven't been here - why not? You will love the food, wine, atmosphere and of course Vito!

-----23 Feb, 2014-----

Fab Find. Our first (definitely not the last) visit. Wonderful experience! From the moment we opened the door - the evening was fabulous! Atmosphere, staff, food, wine - everything was superb!
Stephan, Vito and Sonny - thank you!!!
We went with their suggestions on wine and food - one of the best meals we have had in recent memory!
Our experience was so good that we have made this a standing weekly reservation! Can't wait til next week !

Gorgeous!. Our experience at Bistecca was great, the food was excellent and creative. hard to know what to choose but we all enjoyed our meals. our servers name was Deborah and she the best, she really helped make the experience fun and enjoyable. will definitely be back

Great night out!. I took my out of town girlfriend to Bistecca for a girls' night out. We arrived a bit early so we sat at the bar which was nice. We shared an appetizer, and we both had a pasta dish which were really good. Our server's name was Deborah, and she was amazing. She was super attentive but not "over the top". She knew when to leave us alone for our girl chat! And she also made a great wine recommendation that complimented our dinners very well. All in all, a great experience!
Thescrapcave
Awesome service. My husband and I visited Bistecca recently for an impromptu dinner out. We did not have a reservation but we were accommodated. Food was good, but the service was great - thanks to Deborah! I would recommend this restaurant to friends - and would tell them to ask for Deborah's section.

First timers. GREAT FOOD! AMAZING SERVICE!
THANKS TAMMY!

I came in last night with my husband and had a wonderful time. We ordered the pork tenderloin and the rib eye and it was amazing. Our server Debbie was delightful. She was very knowledgable and attentive. Will absolutely return!:)
Darbylee12
Amazing!. Decided to try Bistecca for the first time last night. My bison cannelloni was delicious and my husband's Bistecca rib-eye was amazing! Perfectly cooked! A nice surprise was "happy hour" prices on our wine because we dined early. Tammy was a great server, very attentive and fun. We will definitely go back for more!
Mr_smith_007
Very good experience. Went there for Valentines day. It was very busy, Kristine the host sat us right away and was very pleasant. Our servers Jennifer and Olena were excellent, everything we asked they were able to answer and made sure we had everything we needed. Even though the restaurant was full the food came quickly. The food was excellent with good portion sizes. A couple of people in our group have food allergies which the staff were able to accommodate without any issues. They have an extensive wine selection with the staff being very knowledge suggesting one which went perfectly with the meal.

It was a great night out and I would highly recommend this restaurant!
T
Overly priced faux "gourmet cuisine". Bland food and incredibly intrusive servers.
Michael_t94
Always Good. I have been to Bistecca many times. The food is always great and this past visit was no exception. Deb provided great service on our date night out and made everything special.
Schmidt
Great Valentine's Day. The rose given to my wife at the end of our evening put the finest touch on an incredible night. The food was great and I was happy with the variety on the set menu. Our waitress, Jennifer, was really attentive and non-intrusive to our date night. We were impressed with the support staff as well as the manager for taking the time to ask how our meal was.
Alia
Awesome! !. Came here for valentine's day dinner the service was awesome..Vito was such a great server friendly and super funny :) will definitely be back

Good meal.. Enjoyed our meal. Our server, Nikki, looked after us well. Will come back again when visiting Calgary in the future.

Birthday lunch. My coworkers and I popped in for lunch last week for one of our birthdays. I couldn't have imagined a more special lunch! The service was amazing--professional, friendly and attentive. Jennifer made every effort to make her celebration memorable. Our lunch were just delicious (I had mushroom chowder and the special catch of the day) done to perfectiont. I'd like to also compliment Kai, who made my friends birthday dessert so beautiful.
Lbeare
Awesome & unpretentious. I had dinner at La Bistecca last Sunday. Wow! I haven't had a meal that good in years. (The Bison was cooked EXACTLY as I requested.) The restaurant was a bit quiet since it was Sunday, which was perfect for our birthday celebration. The decorations are quiet as well, but the food...OMG! Our waiter, Vito, looked after us perfectly; never too far away, and never interrupting our party at the same time. To top it off, a simple request for a birthday cake when I made the reservation turned into a masterpiece of art that was oh so delicious.
Go there, eat there. You will be glad you did.
Daria.lanevskaya
Great service. Exquisite Italian food in a warm and cozy environment. Chef Sonny and servers Olena and Jennifer provide a welcoming atmosphere. This restaurant is for people who expect top quality.
Nadia
Went for the first time last week. I had the veal tortellini and my friend had the capellini. I am refreshed that this Italian restaurant doesn't pile on the cream and make it like Olive Garden or other chains. Our server Jennifer took great care of us. Eager to come back!

Great food but even better service. We have been to Bistecca many times and have always had a fabulous meal! What really keeps us coming back is the fantastic service - our favorite gal is Deb - she treats us like family and we love her. Keep treating us so good and we will continue to be regulars!! Cheers, Andy, Lorie & Chandra

Half price wine!!. I have been to Bistecca several times with family, friends, vendors and customers. The food is excellent and half price wine during the week is a great deal. But what keeps me coming back is my favourite staff member Deb. She treats me like a friend not a customer and that's what makes me coming back. Thanks Deb!!

-----13 Feb, 2014-----

Great service!!. I have been to Bistecca several times with family, friends, vendors and customers. I find the food excellent but what keeps me coming back at least once a week is the servor named Deb. She treats me more as a friend than a customer. And its greatly appreciated. Highly recommend you sit in her section if you want a great dining experience.

Appreciations for Vito. Just want to say thank you to the staff at Bistecca for creating a great birthday celebration for our family, and especially to Vito our server, for ensuring everything went smoothly!

We visited Bistecca while in town from Calgary. Friends had recommended it to us and we are very glad we went! Food was delicious (I had the Ribeye and prawns---cooked to perfection) and our server (Deb) was very helpful in pairing the wine with our dinner choices. We will be back!
Garywindjack
Gary. I was recently at the restaurant and the atmospere was very pleasant. They have a great selection of wine and the italian style menu made it difficult to make a selection as it all looked so good. Our server deborah was fantastic and gave us her recommendations on what to order and she was correct, i had the bison cannelloni and it was mouth watering. The chef is amazing. I have told my freinds and coworkers about Bistecca. Two thumbs up!
Jeremy
Wow! Such a great evening out our sever was Deb and she took care of us very well. Great recommendations!! Thanks Deb we will be back! Boom!

I came in a few nights ago, and had AMAZING service from our server Deb, she was well knowledged about the menu and wine menu, i will deffanitly be returning .

Extremely friendly and professional service - not stuffy, but definitely classy. Our waiter - Nicolas Mahn (aka: The Mexican) - made two excellent recommendations (Kobe meatballs and penne piccante) and we savoured every bit of it.
A thoroughly terrific meal!

Great Date Night!!!. My husband and I visited Bistecca on the weekend for the first time and was really impressed. My husband and I both ordered tenderloins and they were done perfectly! The sides that we shared were also delicious, and our meal ended with delightful specialty coffees. Our waitress, Jennifer, who noticed our French accents and offered to do the service in French, was also excellent. It was a very unique experience. Next time we are in Edmonton we will definitely be back.

Romantic. We had forgotten how much we like this restaurant and hadn't been in almost a year. Not sure why it fell off our radar but now it's back on we will be regulars again. It's really a great restaurant, the food was exceptional. The service was superb! I love that it's quiet and comfortable and delicious! Our waitress was really attentive but non intrusive. Very professional and friendly. We had the bison with muscles as a start. Everything was superb as well as a bottle of Malbec which was 25% off that night (bonus!)

Both Michael and Stephen were astounding. The customer service provided was remarkable. We came to celebrate a birthday with a party of 6 and there is not one thing we would have changed. The customer service was bar non amazing bit to mention great food. Highly recommended for both food and service.

Worst dining experience of 2013. I went to Bistecca for the first time for my birthday in December 2012. It was awesome. Service was good, wine was delicious and the food was amazing. I returned in the summer of 2013 with a couple that had never been there before promising them an awesome experience. In short, it was the worst dining experience of the year. It was a busy Saturday night and it appeared to be the waiter's first night on the job. Sweet kid, but had not been trained properly and was not ready for a busy Saturday night. He didn't know anything about the menu or the wine list and he was completely overwhelmed. We waited ages for our drinks, sitting upwards of 20 minutes with empty glasses. The four of us all ordered steaks. Some medium, some medium rare. All of them came out wrong. We also ordered the side sauces, and we all received the wrong sauces. We waited forever for the waiter to return so that we could complain. By that time we were thirsty, hungry and no wonder, it was 2 hours after our arrival. One person in our party had to pick up his mom from the airport so he ate his steak despite it being cooked wrong because he had to go (did I mention it was 2 hours before we received our steaks?). We asked to speak to the manager. He seemed annoyed by our complaints and did not seem to care one bit that our evening was ruined. He took the steaks we did not eat off the tab (and left the one that was eaten by necessity on the bill) but did not make any further compensation (not even a free drink or dessert) for our ruined evening. When we asked him to do something further he was extremely rude and made us feel unwelcome and unworthy of his time. I don't know his name but he had a large handlebar mustache (I see other reviewers have had a similar horrible experience with him). When we left at 9 pm, still hungry, we went next door to Brewsters where we were treated awesome by the staff and enjoyed a great meal (at a fraction of the price Bistecca would have charged).

I think it's worth mentioning that we are long time loyal customers of Sorrentinos. My husband's parents have been attending Sorrentinos in the west end for years. We had our wedding dinner at Sorrentinos downtown in December 2011, which was amazing, and we go there often. The staff and restaurant manager at Sorrentinos downtown always does an amazing job. Sometimes the food isn't perfect, but the manager always does whatever he can to make up for it on the rare occasion the kitchen makes a mistake. I don't understand how Bistecca is even the same company.

We will never return to Bistecca. We expected a fine dining experience and we were met with an insulting manager with low class manners. I understand that food and service cannot always be perfect and when that happens the manager should step in and make up for it. If Mr. Handlebars had treated us with any respect at all, we would have felt ok about the bad food and service and given it another chance. I can get a better experience at McDonalds.

Good but the rib eye disappointed.... We loved the wine, calamari, gnocchi and filet with sides of asparagus and scallops but the rib eye was grisly, tough and flavorless. We would be back to try more of the pasta and probably some dessert but will probably steer clear of steak again. Server seemed very busy, taking care of 6 tables on her own. Not very personal service. Great decor and ambience otherwise.

Rude and a snob. We went to Bistecca on a Saturday evening around 5 without reservations and told by Mark the host that he had one table but would need it back in an hour. How rude? He acted like we were beneath him and he was doing us a favor. I can't image being able to order and eat a meal within an hour time frame at these prices! And then what they leave us to stand and eat? We went elsewhere and do not see this restaurant in my future plans.
Harold Nimmy
Service is pretty shoddy, no Pinot Noir available by glass.
Food is mediocre,
Over rated, will not visit again.

All in all, excellent food. Their meat is always well made if a little under seasoned. My gnocchi was a little tough but lamb was delicious. Bistecca is a family favorite for this reason.

Date Night. After a long 30 second awkwardness of the "Handle Bar" host checking his smart phone, my wife and I were finally acknowledged. We were introduced to our waiter Mackenzie. He was very knowledgeable about both the food and wine menu and was very good at his job. The food tonight was more than great! Dinner feature was beyond good and it would be hard to say anything bad about the whole dining experience. I will be returning for sure and only hope that the greeting from the host improves.
Joanne
Great food, great service. Some of the previous reviews and comments here do not reflect the experience that our family had last night. Our service was top notch. I can’t remember our waitresses name, but, she was lovely. She overheard that we were celebrating our son’s birthday, and she sent him home with a complimentary dessert. The host overheard that I had forgotten my reading glasses, and he offered me a pair to use.

Our table was a nice round table near a window, and, this restaurant does not blast the music, so you can actually have a conversation.

Our steaks were done to perfection. Reading previous comments about the steaks being dry – they were probably ordered well done. We always order ours med-rare, or rare.

Host needs better people skills. The Host that greeted us at the door "Mark" with the handlebar mustache was extremely rude when we arrived for cocktails and appies at 5pm on a Sat. afternoon. The lounge had one table occupied. He proceeded to sit our table of four in a small square table in the middle of the room, when I ased for a booth he rudely commented "those tables are all taken!" I asked what time the reservations were spoken for and assured him we were only going to have drinks and appies and would most likely be gone by 6:15pm. He proceeded to huff and puff and strip the table of all linens and glassware and stomp off to his podium in the front. We then had a fantastic waiter who was so pleasant and the exact opposite of Mark. Then at 5:45 pm Mark proceeded to Pace back and forth of our small booth in the Lounge to try and make us feel uncomfortable and leave. As promised we left at 6:15 pm after spending $150.00 on appies ( a rip off) and drinks. You must get someone more personable greeting and seating your guests! This old buzzard needs some lessons in hospitality. We won't be going back because of his rudeness!
Finewine2000
Scrumptious. My husband and I went to Bistecca on a recommendation from my in laws.

It is cozy, Kristine (the manager) was helpful and charming and our food was beautiful.

A welcome addition to the South and we will be back!

What a Waste of Time and Money. February 15th, my family and I decided to pay this place a visit. I have made my reservations a week before through Open Table. When we got there, we were seated immediately, this was about 7:45sh. Our waiter came and took our orders. The food did not come until about an hour and 15 minutes later. The steak was so dry, the pasta was so-so. Plus, you have to pay extra for the sauce which actually tasted like freakin' water! I don't even know why I bothered to pay 15% tip to the waiter who didn't even looked friendly and was away all the time and didn't even ask us how we were doing. Ambience is great don't get me wrong, but the food is nothing special. Poor Poor service!!!!!!!
Kerena Roche
Save your money! Recently we went here for valentines day! We have dined here in the past and the food had always been ok! My loving partner made the reservation! Once we were seated we were told that the only menu they would be serving would be the valentines day menu ( firstly what restaurant closes their everyday menu and limits their returning guests to a menu with 15 items all of which were nothing similar to their regular menu. Not to mention they had the items marked up, for instance we usually purchase two or three apps then a main course and two desserts, along with drinks, usually spend 160-180! Usually we receive a basket of bread, on vday we received a piece of bread! Vday cost us $250! The tomato pasta I had as an app was horrendous, tasted like noodles, sauce and 4lbs of cheese to drown out the horrible taste. The steak and lobster was pathetic, the lobster tail was 3 inches long for $80 ( the keg would have been better) I will never return to this restaurant again! You lost a customer because you purchased your food in bulk slapped it on a plate and charged an arm and leg for it. Food I would have paid 1/3 the cost at the keg! And would have tasted better! Good riddens! You should keep you service consistent along with your menu and prices! Valentines day at a restaurant is not suppose to be like at a wedding or cafeteria!

We went to this restaurant on a whim. Didn't need a reservation and they had a table ready for us within 10 minutes. I called from outside and asked to make a reservation for the next table rather than going inside and waiting. The service was poor and the waiter was pretentious and quite ill mannered. However I still highly rate this restaurant because my company enjoyed the atmosphere and my food was delicious. We had the prawn starter and it was extremely well prepared. I ordered the pork tenderloin and we all agreed that mine was the best at the table. It was delicious! They have an amazing maple reduction sauce for the meal. I would order an extra side of sauce next time. I believe while the prices were higher it was very fair for the food. Our bill was only 150.00 for 3 people and we shared the one appetizer and all of us had dessert. Enjoy this restaurant for its delicious food! It's easy to ignore the bad service if you being good company to dine with you.
NotByBreadAlone
I couldn't agree more with some of the reviews posted in the last months. The food is mediocre at best, well overpriced and the service staff is HORRIBLE. I found them (on more than one occasion) snooty and stuck up. For that reason alone, I wouldn't go back.

Great Service - Food Not Bad. We found the mustachioed maître d’ to be an excellent host. Handsome, old world charm, reserved, and efficient. If you prefer your hosts to be hostesses with bubbly over eager personalities, heels and short skirts, this is not the place for you.

The ambiance of the restaurant was noisy this night. I was in attendance with my husband's office Christmas party, and we were seated at a table for 18 plunk in the middle of the dining room. Adjacent to us was another large table celebrating a birthday. Surrounding us were intimate tables for two to four, which, without us occupying the centre of the room, would be quite cozy.

Despite the large groups, the service was impeccable. We had two servers at our table, and we were never left waiting or wanting for anything.

As a group, we had two or three choices from each of a pre-set appetizer, main and dessert menu. My salad was fresh and tasty, the steak cooked perfectly (but with a few chewy bits), and the accompanying vegetables were stone cold. Dessert was an orgasmic white chocolate tiramisu served in a edible chocolate bowl.

If my husband and I and I were dining on our own, I may have sent my dinner back to be re-done. But as we were guests, and having a grand time, didn't want to be the diva at the table slowing the pace of supper.
Magnum74
We liked it despite the Matradee. This review is a bit late. We were there earlier this fall. Simply put, we liked it. We found the wait staff and the food quite good. I had the ribeye and it was cooked perfect medium rare. The others at the table enjoyed their meat and pasta dishes as well. We enjoyed the food and our waiter. But, like the title says the Matradee is something. We did have a reservation and were dressed in what would be considered "smart casual". This pretentious jerkoff needs to understand that his clientel has disposable income and is why a place like Bistecca exists. We didn't go there to impress you; we went there because we like trying new places and can afford to do it. I'm as happy eating at a hot dog cart downtown as I am going to Bistecca for a nicely done steak. A Matradee can create a fun and memorable evening. Anybody that's been on a cruise knows how ALL staff can make a meal very enjoyable and memorable. This guy is memorable but not in a good way. The constant negative comments about him makes me wonder what exactly the Sorrentino Group is thinking. Obviously, he must be tied to the group in some way. We'll be back despite this loser and will be sure to give him the same respect he gives us.
Lea
What a treat! The atmosphere was cozy and music the guitar playing was really good. The service was pleasant as well. I had a New York strip steak that was to die for- and only needed a butter knife to cut! My husband had bison which was delicious and tender as well. Dessert also was perfect, a chocolate torte for my husband and a pastry filled with banana and hazelnut chocolate. Was the perfect amount. We will definitely be back, it was a wonderful way to spend an anniversary dinner!

Meh - uncooked pasta, poor host service. I arrived at Bistecca on a Friday night. As I walked in with a malato friend of mine we were asked "Can I help you" in quite a .. "Why are you attempting to dine here" voice. We were not dressed poorly, I was wearing a dress with suede boots & we were both wearing wool business jackets.

I was a little taken back as normally when you arrive at a restaurant they ask "For Two?" or "Do you have a reservation?" I explained that I was looking for a table for 2. The host said he would see if he could find us a table as some people were just leaving. Once the host left my friend told me he felt it was rude as well.

I'm not sure if it's because i'm in my late 20's.. maybe too young for a fancy restaurant (which isn't that young at all) or if it was because my friend isn't caucasion. It was really not a great start to our experience there.

Once we walked in, there were MANY free tables.. so i'm not sure what he was talking about.

The appetizers were good. We had cappacccio & Veal meatballs. My Veal ravioli wasn't up to my standards. The pasta wasn't cooked fully, it was still hard around the edges and I couldn't taste the interior flavour of the meat very well.

For the price of the dishes I didn't feel like it was worth it. If i'm going to pay a nice price for a dish I want it to be memorable & fully cooked.

Not worth it for me.

Edit - After reading further reviews similar to mine about the man with the curled mustache.. it's safe to say I'm not the only one who has received this snobbish treatment. He should not judge HIS customers which is the sole income for his business.
Savannah
Not worth it. We had 7pm reservations. When we arrived a server walked by and told us that she was going to set a table for us (there were 2 other parties in the dinning area and all tables were set) when the host finally arrived he said he had us at a different table but a nicer one had opened up (again 2 other parties only in the restaurant) the light above us was burnt out and we waited 15 minutes to get drinks. When we ordered our simple apps (salad and shrimp) we had to wait nearly 30 minutes for them to arrive. The salad was fine, the shrimp undercooked and laking flavour. Once we finished our apps we finally were offered another drink while we waited for the main course. The bistecca was a poor piece of beef with no flavour and not cooked to order, the lamb was medocore with the only flavour coming from the fig sauce. The spinich was horrible and chewy. Nedless to say an expensive night out was a disappointment. Could have had a better tasting meal and faster service at bps (which doesn't say much!)
Richard Oster
The food just isn't that good.... Went for dinner with friends. Pretentious host made it seem like the place was packed and he was doing us a favor by seating us. Turns out the place was pretty empty - on a Saturday night that's not a good sign. In a nutshell: long waits, hard on the bank account, and mediocre (at best) food. I was wishing we went to Sicilian Pasta Kitchen down the street. My mushroom ravioli was inedibly salty. Mussels were cold and dry. None of us were impressed with the food and we won't be back. Its very pretty inside though.

Excellent experience from start to finish. Salad, mussels, entrees (arctic char, veal scallopini, flat iron steak) and dessert were fabulous! The wine was great as well, a nice Cabernet Sauvignon. Our group of 3 enjoyed the whole meal, the ambiance and the waiter's great service!! Well worth it!!
