Review Delux Burger Bar - Edmonton

Rowena Ritzen
Beyond impressed! Customer service is priceless! Ordered a takeout here today and when I got home found out that we were missing one order of burger. Called them and they apologized and said to come right away and pick it up. Got there and a server helped me right away. Then another server asked if it was me who called and when I said yes, she also went to get the order. Long story short, they refunded me for the burger, gave a $25 gift card and a $10 off my next order! Wow 🤩

Small restaurant with outdated furniture. The long couch badly needs a repair. The burger was excellent and the server was fine. It's located in an upscale neighborhood so it should look a little nicer when you walk in. Not a good 1st impression.

The food here is delicious, fast, good quality, and the atmosphere is relax, just like the servers - everyone was attentive and friendly. The burgers specifically were quite large, fully loaded with a huge pickle on the side. The meat was juicy, and cooked medium well. We were very happy with everything we ordered - the mushroom burger with ceasar salad, and a bacon burger with a poutine. In the end, we opt out of dessert, but we were surprised to receive a little container of pink cotton candy. What a nice touch! Our quest to fill our burger craving was complete.

After two visits I'm totally sold. 10 beers on tap with a couple of craft selections. The decide I'd somewhere between a pub and a upscale restaurant. The food is great, and only slightly more expensive than it should be. The burger was decent, though nothing to go crazy over. The Salmon Club though was fantastic. And the poutine was top notch both visits, would definitely recommend. Service was pretty good both times too. Will certainly be back for some patio beers when the weather is better. No dogs on the patio right now, but I'm told they are working on amending their licence to allow it. Tie-up outside the fence should be fine.

Very yummy food and very excellent staff and service Loved being able to take our cat on the patio for dinner! The brownie is a must try!

Super tasty burgers! The staff are very attentive, the decor is cozy, and the food is wonderful. My celiac wife had no issues eating here as they have a dedicated broiler.

We actually enjoyed some of the food at one point in time, definitely pricey though and maybe not as quality as the price would indicate. I was still willing to support a local business understanding the financial challenges the pandemic had bestowed. The real letdown was supporting a business with intention over the pandemic and being welcomed until the rep programs inception. I even shared a couple private conversations with the owner which I felt were respectful and open. Specials were always available for takeout too which was great for the oilers specials, with 4 kids it’s so much nicer to watch the game at home. Well I called to place a takeout order for the oilers specials about 120$ order in October 2021 and was told the special was for dine in only. I said oh it’s always been available for takeout during the pandemic and your post doesn’t indicate dine in only. I also said I’m not allowed to dine in due to v status so it feels really unfair especially after being a vocal supporter of this local business. Knowing that the sweet girl who answered didn’t have much input I politely said ok thank you but I will need to cancel this order. I then wrote a comment on the business Facebook page and their specific post for that day asking for some clarification or for the opportunity to speak about the experience, instead of responding the business hid or deleted my comments. I then posted the comment again identifying that it had previously been hid or deleted. I also wrote a post tagging the business on my own page and no response. Months later in feb when the rep program was being removed, I private messaged the business asking if they were welcoming all patrons or keeping rep program— no response. This business has certainly implied that they are happy to turn away business from those who believe in medical freedom of choice. Choose with your dollars folks. This local joint has lost our business forever. And Im A squeaky wheel so here we are. All it would have taken was an opportunity to chat. Cheers

Not the best burgers (or fries), but the mini-donuts are amazing: Ordered from this place because it was still being advertised as Deluxe Burger Bar via online delivery and its burgers had received a good review in EDify Magazine (Avenue Magazine). I was pretty disappointed with my burger (wasn't much better than a McDonald's burger imo) and the pricey craft soda advertised in the online menu was not the one I received in the end. And for some reason the outside of the container that the food came in had a smear of sauce that was not part of the order. I called the restaurant and the situation was redeemed with a $10 gift card, which I used to buy mini donuts later on. The mini-donuts were absolutely incredible! So while I wouldn't recommend the burgers (or fries or soda), I would recommend the donuts.

Not to bad, my husband loves the burgers here but I am impartial to them. A good place if you are craving a burger, decently priced. Would go again if I was hungry and in the area

as a regular customer I noticed the hamburger patties visually appeared different, spoke with the waitress and was informed they changed suppliers. The new product was twice as thick, overcooked, and had no flavor. For the price you pay you expect high quality food. I won't be returning.

Really average. The burgers were bland. The service was good but nothing special to make me want to come back. Oh and if it's your birthday, they don't really give a sh!t. <br/>I love the Burger's Priest burgers. They make me happy. My experience at Delux was the opposite. <br/>I won't be back. <br/>

Expensive and poor service. My wife and 2 adult children arrived for dinner on Sunday about 6:30 and were told there would be a 30 minute wait. We were seated 50 minutes later. The hostess clearly was unable to estimate the timing well. Inability to clear tables was a part of the problem. However, watching the hostess “clean” tables was rather unpleasant and I was close to suggesting we should leave before being seated. It is unacceptable to send food onto the seats and floor when “cleaning” a table. The seats were not cleaned for the next customers (not us fortunately) and bits of the previous meal were left on the seats.<br/><br/>Our food was finally ordered and after some delay prepared. I had noted our meals sitting on the warming area for an extended period when another waitress, not ours, picked them up to bring to us. Why it would seem appropriate that the waitress would stop to chat with another employee while “talking over our meals” was unprofessional and unhygienic. My burger arrived hot in the middle and lukewarm on the edges. The “greasy” coating on the surface of the buns of all our meals was unusual and unpleasant: all of us remarked on this. The sweet potato fries were cooked to various levels and overall, soggy with some overcooked and uneven in temperature. The burgers overall were acceptable but I’d say significantly lower than the past for overall quality.<br/><br/>We were asked once right after the meals were delivered if things were OK and then our server disappeared: nothing until the bill and the place was half empty. When it came to paying the bill, the restaurant seemed devoid of staff despite. After over 10 minutes and putting on our jackets, I went to the bar to pay. I sense the wait staff were more concerned with ongoing conversations with other staff than their customers.<br/><br/>Nobody working at the restaurant seemed to notice that the hockey game had ended. This meant that the CBC National news was on: watching various global tragedies unfold is not what I would choose to watch while eating a burger. Perhaps the staff could monitoring the TV.<br/><br/>Overall, too much much money for what you get. There are far better places to go now. My complaint to the manager: nothing much. Not going back.

2 Burgers - 1 Drink - 1 Fries - $60.00 ??????????. The 8oz. Kobe burger was good. Was it worth $20.00? Not for me! <br/>If it was not for a $50.00 gift card, I would never have eaten here. At these prices, I will not eat there again. Competitors offer equal or better burgers for $13.00 - $15.00, and you don't have to pay for fries or onion rings. Trendy, sure, but not for me. I pay for food, not decor.

Pretty ok. The food was good - the burger tasted very well, service was pretty good too. Two bad things however you have to pay for french fries separately on top of $11 hamburger and there is no wifi service. Honestly who doesn't have a wifi these days?! Also when I was walking out I noticed that the place got busy and a crowd of people was waiting by the entrance and no hostess was around to even talk to them. Overall not a bad experience but needs some improvement. 3/5.

A Little More Expensive, But Worth It. I've been to this location a few times and have enjoyed my food every time. They have a variety of unique burger toppings that go really well together. They also run a fantastic promotion every month where a local celebrity creates a burger and part of the proceeds go to charity. The best part of the meal may be the sides, the Stella Artois Onion are my favorite. The sides are extra; however, they give you 2 options to purchase. The first is to buy a side order that come on your plate, the second is to buy the sides "a la cart". These serve 2 people and come in a little shopping cart. They also have a lengthy beer menu with beers from all over the world. <br/><br/>Price for a burger and a side: $15-$20 (a little high but worth it)<br/><br/>Recommend: The Delux<br/>Beer: Tiger

Had the chipotle chicken club (special of the day), and was delicious... Chicken was well cooked and seasoned and the fries are good too. I would agree with some of the other reviews that it does seem a tad over priced for what you get, like at the price of the burger I feel like a side should be included. But over all was a good experience with decent food and friendly service.

Sitting on a throne of lies. The menu makes it look like it is going to be an out of this world burger experince, premium ingredients and premium prices. <br/><br/>The menu is really flirting with false advertising as it misleads you.... it lies. <br/><br/>When your menu says "stella artois bartered onion rings" and you have an open kitchen leaving the McCain Bag on the counter for the restaurnant to see is probably not a good idea. We ordered two half portions that came in at $7.50 each. 15 bucks for some mccain onion rings <br/><br/>Kobe beef is renowned for its flavour and texture. Again they are not using the legit stuff because they smother it in low quaity cheese and lobster out of a can. <br/><br/>The service is good.<br/><br/>the two of us had two burgers two orders of onion rings and two soft drinks.... 60 bucks. <br/><br/>they reside in a wealthy neighbourhood and take advantage of people that probably dont know any better but i would recomend going to 5 guys, fat burger, tavern 1903, earls, joeys, cactus club. all serve a better burger, and more importantly dont lie on the menu. I would urge any diner to question the server of the integrity of the menu,

Almost chic in it's wacky inconsistency. I want to start by saying that I actually like Delux, so that the rest of this review sounds less negative than it otherwise might. I work on the west end of Edmonton so I go there with a coworker for lunch from time to time. We've had lunch there maybe 10 times over the last year or so. <br/><br/>About half the time when I ordered something, the burger they brought was a close 90% in line with what I ordered. For example, if the burger special that day is kobe beef on a flatbread with blue cheese, and I order it, I will get kobe beef on a normal bun with blue cheese and bacon. The burger they bring is always in the same ballpark of whatever I thought I was getting, but one or two things fell victim to chaos theory. I actually didn't care a single time, so I never said anything to the server. I was happy since it was usually a good burger anyway. I let the kitchen surprise me. But I could see how spending $15 and getting a burger with unannounced bacon or a different mustard could upset somebody. <br/><br/>The menu is fairly static, but Delux tries out new burgers all the time. In that arena I admire their maverick style. Not being held back by the fear that the burger will be a mess really opens up the boundaries to combine things into a burger that may make no sense together. It might not always work out super, but I respect their open minded attitude. Good restaurants have their own personality, Delux is like Bill Murray in Ghostbusters, he's trying and he's doing a good job, so we all should cut the guy some slack.<br/><br/>And, the servers that served us have been generally congenial and cheerful, but that's really my only comment on that.

Where are my glasses?? Pretty much done with Delux and their poor customer service and managers who don't follow through.... Took a bunch of my daughters soccer buddies out for a bite to eat at our usual burger joint. Just moved into the neighbourhood and have spent a dozen or so times enjoying their fantastic burgers. Last time out, hastily left my sunglasses on the table and quickly contacted our server. No worries, she had them and would have them ready for pickup and intended to do so the very next day. Showed up as planned - no glasses... no idea of what I was requesting. It was like I was speaking Swahili to a bunch of dear in headlights. Wanted to speak to the manager - he was unavailable so I left the first of my many messages and contact info. Now left my fourth message - no call backs from our server Amanda or the manager. Awesome!! Love it when I'm ignored by today's youthful leaders of tomorrow. Spent the last 10 days stopping in on a variety of times and apparently they don't forward messages as well as keep sunglasses. Spent a small fortune of some decent burgers but after having my $200 sunglasses misappropriated by Delux employees I'm likely to look otherwise and would recommend you do the same. Overpaid for burgers the last time and pissed off with the way this was(not) handled.

Not impressive.. Their buns and burgers are frozen, lots of things like the applewood smoked cheddar and lobster are improvised to keep their costs down (other cheese mixed in applewood and lobster mixed with fake lobster). Staff is very incompetent and inconsistent. If you want a good burger you might as well go to Wendys, at least you can get a combo without it costing an arm and a leg.

Oh Come on....how do you mess this up? It's a hamburger fries and milkshake for Pete's Sake!. I wanted a GOOOOOOD Burger and Shake! Just moved to Edmonton, this place was making innuendo's that it was good.........well ? To report from a sunny but cool August Saturday Night in 2014 around 7pm. <br/>Content of burger had potential but the bun disintegrated because it was dried out....stale. Bacon in the burger was in a big round connected clump of bacon in knots. I have good teeth, but it all came out....on my chin, not pretty. The pickle was good. The burger broke apart...well dang! I converted to knife and fork, I was very hungry.<br/>The fries could be so much more.....and are not.....not even fresh cut fries, for that price? FAIL<br/>The chocolate milkshake was the most I have ever spent for a watery glass of chocolate luke warm milk with whip cream on top......I wanted a real milkshake....it was a disaster.....the whip cream was ok....FAIL<br/>I was fuming inside, but the girl taking our order was so sweet I just shut my mouth....it would have crushed her if we told her the truth.....my wife told me to be nice pay the bill and leave.<br/>What happed, all that décor, location....but the MAIN THING was forgotten.<br/>"THE FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they failed to deliver what they were selling, EVERYTHING SUCCEEDS or FAILS on the contents on the plate!

Girls night out for a good burger/beer.. Had the most tasteless hamburger ever. In the beginning they had the best but they have gone downhill & on a Friday evening the place was nearly empty. If you want a good burger, please go to the cactus club. They are not dried out, stale buns like the Delux Burger has to offer. The Cobb salad was just a big bowl of lettuce and the glasses were badly water stained. They are going to have a hard time if they don't smarten up.

Outstanding service. Very good food. Anyone can cook a good burger. .. Not many can serve it completely gluten free and taste good. Will definitely be back

Best place for a burger and a shake EVER. Although the prices are a bit steep, the food is well worth it. The service is fantastic, and although the restaurant is smaller and you should call ahead, it's fantastic. They have a very large variety of toppings and choices, and even really great gluten free choices that don't taste like cardboard. 10/10

Really enjoyed ourselves this evening. Fantastic burgers and the service was great.

This place is a comfortable neighbourhood favourite.

Great staff. Ride past on my bike last summer and only had ten bucks with me. The server offered to serve a half size beet salad for me so I could cover it <br/>Most impressed and the beet salad is sensational. Kudos and I've been back many times since.

Love the burgers, the service is great like the fries in the shopping cart. Mid priced.

Not so good quality control and service. Came with my family for a small birthday party. Restaurant had one, maybe two tables when we came in. It started to get busy after we finished our food. Service was friendly however we were not informed that Sundays kids eat free even though we had two one year olds with us. Half my grilled cheese came without cheese, however they did bring a new one out quickly. Burgers were good. Fries were soggy and tasted similar to New York Fries. Water refills were awesome, never ran out. Asked to get fries early because of fussy baby, made sure to point out that it was the fries I had already ordered hoping I wouldn't get two orders of fries. Got two orders of fries anyway, told server who brought my food what happened. Was told I could keep them and they'd take them off my bill. Did not happen but I didn't want to cause a fuss so paid the bill and left. Overall I think we would've had a better experience if more attention was paid to food quality control and the customers themselves (friendliness was good, communication was not so good) especially because it was not busy. Oh, complimentary cotton candy was a nice touch!

Glad I had a gift card.. Bad from the moment we walked in. The hostess sat the people behind us before us, our waiter obviously considered us less important than everyone around us, they got far better service. Including letting a table beside pay first even though I requested my bill (had to go up and ask for it)<br/><br/>This restaurant is blatantly aimed at the more affluent crowd who I guess are more tolerant of ignorance. Paying $17 for a burger served in a basket with nothing else? Absolutely pathetic. Didn't bring condiments as requested, I actually took regular ketchup (which they claimed they would bring out) and regular relish (which they denied even having, only onion relish) from the table beside us. We were not dressed fancy because we were out all day, but that does not mean we get treated sub par though this is a common trend in the so called hospitality industry. Will never be back. Cater to the richer folk who don't expect any better. I can get better service at Denny's.<br/><br/>P.S. Don't bother replying with your generic responses, I have read the reviews, you use the same exact reply for numerous comments, especially negative (which there are plenty of.)
Neumeyershannon
Pretentious Over Priced. Where do I start. First, the people that came in after us were given a seat before us and there was the same number of people (2). Second, the service was super slow. The dollar value for food was ridiculous. I had a half order Cheese Burger Poutine. I asked the server how big the order was. He said the half order was big and more than enough. For eight dollars you would expect more than a small portion like that. The small at New York Fries is larger and better priced but taste just as good. My husband ordered a burger with toppings and cheese. Everything was clumped in the middle, not impressive for flavor by any means and for fifteen dollars you would think you'd get fries with it. The server appeared to only had three tables so why did it take so long for him to do everything? It toos us fifteen minutes alone just to pay the bill. NOT going back. Not worth it.
James
Great evening out , first time customer , will definitely be back .

Never again. Took 5 minutes to even see the waiter. took another 5 minutes for him to come back to get our drink order. another five to get our drinks. took our order asked for the apps. to be served right away. 10 minutes later asked for apps. he served them with the main course. had a better burger on my B.Q last weekend. kids said their burger was burnt. needless to say I'm surprised they are still open, all their customers must be first timers.
TyKe
Pleasantly Surprised. Service was very friendly and attentive. The server offered to move us to a nicer table, was prompt with our drinks, and pre-split a poutine we just wanted to share. I haven't been here in well over a year, and will definitely be coming back. <br/><br/>The poutine was great, and the burgers were awesome (and well priced). Ingredients were fresh, and the meat was moist and lean. Plus you can create your own burger, so there are so many options.<br/><br/>Would recommend.
Cierra
Most unprofessional and horrible place I've ever had the misfortune of going to.
Mike Reid
The food was amazing. Started with the Lobster Nacho's and they were quite the treat. Then for the main I had the Kobe Burger Stack. Wow. Hot, fresh and tasty. The burger was hot from the first delictable bite to the last. The fries were serves ala carte. In an actual shopping cart. It was a great experience and excellent staff. I highly recommend this restaurant.
BananaRocket
Over priced but good.. Service was ok. My order was not only mixed up with one of the other guys at the table, the bill was wrong too. <br/><br/>Room was cool and modern. Lots of blue glass tile and hidden lights.<br/><br/>Portions are a small for the price but the burger is still a good size. Your not leaving the place hungry, but not stuffed.<br/><br/>Turkey burger; The patty was flavorful but too thin so it was a bit dry and grainy. I didn't realize it was no flat bread, I would of asked for a whole wheat bun. Overall I thought is was good but I like the turkey burger at Fat Burger better.<br/><br/>Onion rings; really good. Crunchy outside, tender inside and not greasy. I really appreciate hand dipped rings.<br/><br/>I like Delux but will only come here once in a while because Fat Burger is almost as good, almost half the price and much closer to me.
Jon
I had a Great gourmet burger with blue cheese. The only downside was the price of it and the Stella I got with it.

My Favorite!. Delux Burger Bar is one of my favourite restaurants. I am celiac, so it is hard to find a good gluten free burger in Edmonton. I think it's great that Delux has GF options for both burgers and fries cooked in separate oil. <br/><br/>The last time we were at Delux (south location) they asked us if we were willing to let a family with kids have a table before us. We weren't in a hurry so that was fine by us, but the manager bought us a round of drinks. Great service. <br/><br/>I will be back soon!
LP
Went on a double date with some friends came early to avoid the rush, didn't think we would be there for two hours. Bill got lost, fine that happens then they give us our fries and onion rings but we ordered sweet potato fries..so she sends it back. We can't eat our food because its mouth burning hot. The rest of the food comes out quickly and when the bill comes we are rushed to pay.. We weren't staying long by choice. So we pay and realize we were charged for the fries we didn't want. Seriously. SERIOUSLY? I love the food here but I can't pull myself to come back.
PrairieGal
Worst Service. About seven of us were here for a late dinner on Thursday night. After 45 minutes of waiting for our food I asked the waitress what was taking so long. There was maybe one or two other tables by then. She said it was because one of my friend's had ordered an appetizer, so she put in the order later, or did I want all the food to come at once? My friend had finished his appetizer about 25 minutes earlier, and I think that's still too long to wait for a burger. When the waitress finally brought or meals, she told my other friend that her order, which was only ice cream, would take another 10 minutes to be ready. Really ridiculous.

Best Burgers in Edmonton. My 12 yr old's review; its an excellent place and if I could eat there every day I would. The food is healthy, delicous, fresh and you can have peanut butter on your burger. AND I get cotton candy!<br/><br/>My review: it has become a regular date night for me and the wee one above. We enjoy the menu from the build your own ~ to the beet salad (yes you heard me right - try it)! I love the set up, I enjoy the staff and I love how they give back to the community. It's always fantastic to see who's got the burger of the month and to try something a little different. <br/><br/>We have a great location in our neighborhood and we cant wait for the patio to reopen this summer!
Skatebordergirl
Hater. The food was good, but the staff was terrible ( apart from one cook that served us our food was awesome)<br/>waitress forgot for half hour our beer we ordered, paid little attention to us if anything at all.<br/>The food was awesome, but atmosphere was chongo like and the employees all looked like they hated their lives.<br/>3/10 would not recommend and would never go back again.

I consider myself a bit of a burger connoisseur, I usually am very particular about burgers and I have to say this place beat my expectations. Great food. Had a custom burger with Alberta Bison, and it was excellent. Although I now have the meat sweats!!
Billy
Service was brutal ...hopefully someone in management there would see comments like these and train there emloyees about proper service
2peas1pod
Pea#1: Great as always. I suggest the wholewheat flatbread and the $3 side-salad.<br/><br/>Pea#2: FYI, it's a bit drafty near the back. The great food more than makes up for it, and don't forget to ask for the free cotton candy!
Mastaplast
Disapointing. Perhaps it is all the hype, but this place did not live up to what I though it would be. The burger was overcooked, dry, and tasted burnt. Average at best, and not worth the money.

Redemption. My boyfriend surprised me with a date night. He wouldn't tell me where we were going, but half way there I figured it out. I was curious. We'd been there before with a Groupon. I remember liking the food but the service had been lacking. We'd reeked to go another time but were turned away because the staff decided to close 45 minutes early. We showed up and it was $2 slider day and it was busy. I assumed it was going to be another bad experience. I was wrong. Service was amazing. There was no room in the dining room but they found us a table on the patio under the heat lamp. It was nice and cozy. Even though it was packed, you couldn't tell. Our server was amazing. Our drinks were never empty! We had the shrimp in a box to start. The sauce was so good. I was tempted to get fried to dip in it too. At one point, the waitress came out and apologized for the delay in our entrees. We honestly hadn't noticed that it had been that long. The portion of shrimp had been quite generous so it's not like we were starving. I ordered 2 sliders and the beet salad. My date ordered at half order of the poutine and The Urban classic. Usually, I'm a little jealous that he has fries and I have salad but not this time. The salad was amazing. Creamy goat cheese, warm beets and candied pecan tasted like I having something "bad". The sliders were anything but "bite sized" but they were delicious. I did have to take one home but it was even good cold. My boyfriend was very happy with his meal. His portions were generous as well. I don't know how anyone could eat a half order of poutine to themselves with a burger.<br/>Great food! Great service! Delux you have redeemed yourself!
Mike
I went a while back because someone had given me gift certificates. I had been here years before and enjoyed it but this time the service was not very good and none of the vegetables on the burger were fresh at all. When you pay an awful lot of money for a burger, you expect better quality. Never going back again.
Tha Dawg
It's awesome. Burgers are great, sides are good, amazing beer selection, friendly staff, good atmosphere, nice decor, patio for the two months of summer we get.<br/>For those that complain - hey, it's a burger joint, whaddya want? Let's put things in perspective. It's like $40 for two people to eat at Delux, looking down at a menu and eating with silverware off a plate. It's like $20 for two people to eat at at McDonalds, looking up at the menu and eating with your hands out of a cardboard box, with screaming kids running around braining each other with trays. You do the math, I know where I'm goin' if it's burger night.<br/>Solid 8 out of 10

Good, but not great.. We've been going here since DeLux Burger Bar has opened. One thing that always is a bit disappointing is the variety they have on the menu, with only 5 or 6 burgers on the menu. The best one in my opinion is the The Delux burger, which is infused with Blue Cheese. All their burgers are good, but not great for the most part. One complaint I have is that their buns kind of fall apart a bit easy sometimes, but overall it's not a big problem. <br/><br/>When I first started coming here, I thought their burger of the day options were great. They had a Kangaroo burger, Elk, Ostrich, Alligator and a bunch of different exotic meats. The Kangaroo burger is definitely one of my all time favorites, and it's a shame they've gone to a rather standardized burger of the day menu without any game/exotic meats for those that want it. <br/><br/>Their fries are pretty good for the most part as well, cooked well and not overly greasy.<br/><br/>Overall, this is a good place, but as I said it's not great. You're not going to get a terrible meal here, but from years and years of going here, it won't be outstanding either. It is a nice dependable place though, sort of like Earls and Joey's. The service is quite good as well.<br/><br/>Review: 7/10

Burger critic !. We tried the Deluxe Burger in the WEM, so maybe the one on 142st is better?? We were greeted, and seated quickly, our host was amusing. How ever it all came across as an exercise in overachieving. We both had the Kobe Burger with the shopping cart of fries. Novel but really need to lose the cart. Fries where soggy, limp, tasteless. The Burger was great, but was with out fan far. I was expecting much more for the experience. Over all satisfaction, a disappointing 6.5/10. It the WEM so expect to have to wait to get in at times. We'll be back but not for the burgers next time. Give you another chance for redemption<br/><br/><br/>.

I've been meaning to come since they opened but realize now I haven't been missing anything. 3 burgers on the menu...pretty weak for burger joint. Had the delux burger. One word....meh. Great presentation but burger and bun were dry and not a lot of flavour. Service was great and nice drink selection but disappointed with my burger. Probably won't be back. Very average.
Doug
Disappointed. I have always enjoyed Delux - how can you go wrong with fries that come in a shopping cart. But am very disappointed that recently, some of the new menu items are being stolen from another restaurant called SodaJerks. They were the first restaurant in the city to have a burger with grilled cheese sandwiches for a bun.<br/>The stacker is cheap imitation of SodaJerks signature burger called The Doris. <br/>Delux Burger had a great menu without having to steal ideas from other restaurants.

This place USED to be great. Not so much anymore

The place smells like raw meat when you walk in !

Yum.. I haven't been to this place in a while but I really like it. It is quite pricey for burgers & fries but it's worth it for an occasional treat. My favorite thing ever is the sweet potato fries in the little shopping cart with the delicious dip. The restaurant is quite small and usually packed with people, indicating its popularity. Expect to spend what you'd spend at an average restaurant. Definitely a fun way to dress up burgers.

DeLux Delicious. I've been here a few times and have yet to be disappointed. The place is pretty small, but we have went at lunch each time and have had no problem getting a seat, except for on the patio which is expected on the warm days.<br/><br/>I always stick with the Kobe burgers and steal bites from my wifes options. We have not found a burger of side dish we don't like here. <br/><br/>The service is good, but maybe a little too in your face. I guess on slow days they need to feel busy. That said, I would much rather that then a non-existent server.<br/><br/>I also had numerous problems with bottles of Heineken being skunky. Fortunately each time our waitress replaced it. After 3 bad ones in a row I got a pint of Stella (I believe was the beer). <br/><br/>Overall if you want a great burger and pint of beer, this is your place.

DISAPPOINTED. Had visited about two years ago and had been very impressed by the burger. Worth the high price. <br/><br/>Visited today and the burger was overcooked, rubbery, and over salted. A & W would have been better. Moreover the cook (presumably), who came out on a crutch to deliver the burger had the look of a recently escaped convict. And $5 for an order of fries cooked in old oil is just ridiculous, as is $10-plus for six ounces of red plonk. This place deserves to go under.

Over priced bar food. Burgers at over 9$ do not come with any sides and they were nothing special. We also ordered the lobster nachos, what we got was grease covered nachos with a meager amount of cheese and lobster flakes. Over all very disappointed with the quality of food.

Hip Casual Dining. Two words: Poutine Burger. But don't forget the desserts, which are some of the best in the city.

Great Service. Had lobster nachos, sweet potatoe fries and the burger of the month! <br/>My server was awesome. All I can say was he was enthusiastic and was efficient.
Jenny
Over-hyped. The food wasn't bad, but I'd just as soon go to Fat Burger (which also costs less) as here. I was not a fan of the yam fries, and I'm a yam/sweet potato fries fanatic usually!

Absolutely everything you would like in a burger joint in a sit down environment!! My bf had the Kobe Stack, since he didn't speak until it was done that should explain how tasty it was. I had the Delux, loved the meaty slices of mushrooms and bacon. I would drive across the city just for the fries. The cart was cute and entertained us while we waited for our bill. Great staff, super friendly. I will be going back very soon and dragging anyone I know that hasn't been there yet because it is a must try!

OK, but just OK. I have heard a lot of big talk about this place and have been there several times. It is not the best burger in town, in fact I think Harvey's burgers are better then these. The sweet potato fries are delicious. Service is decent, prices are slightly above what I think is reasonable for a burger.

Too expensive for what you get.. I was so disappointed by this place. Their burgers, although good, weren't anything special in my opinion, and you pay the same amount for a burger with no sides that you would for a burger with sides anywhere else. You have to pay separately if you want fries just so they can be served to you in a little shopping cart. Cute, but gimmicky. I would prefer to have my fries WITH my meal thank you.

I went for lunch today! The same as always! Very good burger! Soggy fries=not crisp, Onion rings= greasy! Service= Poor! I will be back, just not for fries, onion rings or service!!!!

Great place. High prices reflected in the quality and consistency I have received countless times. Never been let down yet. Everything I have ever got was amazing and the wait staff always deserve generous tips. Thanks for the addiction, delux.

Girls Lunch Out. Three of us went to Delux today for lunch. Service was friendly and very good. All the food was good but a bit overpriced for what you get. It was good but not great. We really enjoyed the popcorn shrimp with mango cilantro dipping sauce. The burgers were good but a bit too meaty for me as I prefer a thinner patty. The bacon on the burger was plentiful and delicious. I like the place I just don't love it.

Server - impressed. Cook - not so much.. The night I went they were understaffed but the only server that was there was very helpful and stayed calm throughout the rush. I think he handled it quite well, so kudos! But the cook in the kitchen, however, was throwing a temper tantrum! He was throwing things around like no one could hear him and at one point dashed out the back door. Even if it's busy and there is only one cook, as your kitchen is open and people can hear or see you, you need to stay collected and not embarrass yourself. I was quite put off by the gentleman in the kitchen. The food did take a long time but having one server and one cook, that'll happen, so I understand. When the food did come out, my burger was a bit over cooked and dry but the vanilla shake I had was delicious. I'll try going on a different day and see how it goes , maybe I'll have a better experience!

Honestly, I think it's a bit overrated. Cool atmosphere, but the food is over priced and I can't say I've had a burger there I really enjoyed. Mine always seem to be burnt and greasy. Never my first choice, but my boyfriend loves it so I often find myself there.

It's a Gamble. I'm not sure if I'll be back to Delux or not. Our family has been here two times now. <br/> The first experience was quite good. We all enjoyed our food, the kids loved that the fries came in a little metal shopping cart (on this occasion, at least), the decor is awesome, and the service was decent. The only downside this time was that there is no baby-changing station in the washroom, or indeed, anywhere in the entire restaurant. I chalked this up to it being new, and perhaps they hadn't installed it yet.<br/> Our second experience was much worse. The food was drowning in salt, service was slow to non-existant (my husband's second beer never came), my burger was way over-cooked and flavourless, and there is STILL no baby-changing station. I'm pretty sure that's against the law for a place that calls itself "family friendly" (which the hostess did). <br/> I think I'll give Red Robins another shot, as much as I hate their decor. . .

Hostess not so De Lux. Food was great, but I don't know which person was my actual server, because they all stopped by my table.<br/>The hostest was kind of rude and when she packed up my food she put my poutine and burger in the same tiny package so it go smushed together. For 20$ bucks I would have liked to have ate my whole meal. Thanks condescending hostess.
CocaColaa
Not good. Went there with my girlfriend last week. Burger was not that good, really really salty fries. and expensive. Order a deluxe burger, fries, and shrimp, and one pop. Total with tip came out to be 40 bucks!!!<br/>couldnt finish the burger, not tastly at all, and fries were too salty to eat.<br/>only good thing was the free cotton candy :P

Great Grill Cheese. Delux Burger Bar takes forever to get seated and has okay service. However, their Grill Cheese and Sweet potatoes fries are Fantastic.
OneEyedFred
Only there once.. Went for lunch today at the new location in WEM. I had the Deluxe Burger and my wife had the veggie burger. We shared an order of sweet potato fries with dipping sauce. <br/>My burger was great and I could hardly get my mouth around it it was so huge.<br/>Good flavors, well balanced, and fresh - not from frozen like almost everyone else's. The wife said the same about her veggie burger. All in alll the weak point may have been the sweet potato fries.<br/>Prices were fair for what we had, the whole meal for two was about 35.00 with tip.<br/>I will be back.

Delux Burger Bar is suprisingly small considering the high volume of customers that sweep through their doors. If youre looking for a casual dinner but not quite fast food then this is definatly a good place to start. Whatever you end up ordering you will be satisfied enough right-to-order for your personal taste. (AND portion). Their fries come in a strange (but cute) mini shopping cart with metal wires and everything and for an automatic dessert of cotton candy! Other than those things, the food is acutally very good, average, but very good with wild yet classy decor and a fun atmosphere.

Just doesnt live up to its claims... I have been to Delux now twice. The first time I had the fish burger, the second time the Delux burger. I dont eat a whole lot of meat but I really wanted to try these burgers, since that was is their speciality.<br/><br/>Fish burger was pretty decent.. we had the mix of sweet potato/regular fries on the side... which came out in a shopping cart. They really werent that great. Soggy and it was hard to tell the difference between the two types. I think they should probably work on improving their fries instead of distracting from them with a novelty shopping cart.<br/><br/>Now the Delux burger... this is a sick monstrosity. Honestly, it was so big. Normally I would never complain about portion size, but this is actually ridiculous. I could only eat half and even that i felt sick. There was just too much meat, and it required two hands to eat. The patty itself was somewhat bland... I think it really needed some seasoning. I would much rather have quality than quantity, thats for sure. Had the poutine and onions rings, again nothing notable here. Probably wouldnt eat there again.<br/><br/>The best part of the whole experience was the cotton candy at the end. I was too full to actually enjoy it.

Fun gourmet burgers. A fun special way to enjoy burgers.. not just fast food or regular burgers.. these burgers and fun, gourmet and of course deluxe! Expensive for a burger but enjoyable. The butter salad pecan salad is AMAZING, along with a cart of fries and a lobster topped beef burger. I enjoy!

After reading some recents reviews we decided to see for ourselves. So to answer the negative reviews: 1-cost. I had the 7oz with the duo fries which was $15 total and next time I'd only order the small side of fries as it was too much for me. So burger and half side is only $12.50. My husband had a Cobb salad $13 and added a burger paddy also for another $6. Meal for two, no drinks $35 with tax. 2-quality. Burger was juicy inside, crisp outside and plenty but not overly salty. Was and made paddy and was in top ten I've had I'd say. 3-service was quick and friendly. Decor was dim lights and nice ambiance. You can even watch tv in the toilet. So I'd give it a thumbs up and we will return.
John
Disappointed. I had a guilt free burger which was a bit burnt, dry instead of juicy, and salty. I ordered it with a whole wheat bun which was incomplete ( a piece off the top was missing!). The bun crumbled in my hand like dried crumbs which made for very messy eating. I agree with a previous review that the duo of sweet potato fries and fresh cut fries should be stacked side by side rather than one on top of another. The burger with duo fries was over $17.00. <br/><br/>Try the 1905 Pub in downtown Edmonton for the Frank's Burger and you have a choice of fries or salad. Much better deal, under $14. The a la carte menu at Delux is ridiculous.
Sam
Great Service, Nice decor. We enjoyed great service in a upscale concept restaurant. The girls were friendly and personable, the food was enjoyable, the manager Jonnie even came over to chat and make sure things were great, this was a nice touch!!! The place that WEM was missing you must try it , if not for the food then the atmosphere, the spiked shakes and the cotton candy !!!! We will definately be coming back ...

Never Disappoints. I've been going to Delux since it opened and it never disappointed me or my husband. Service was always good, food was always good and price is reasonable. It's also laid back atmosphere is awesome.

Best in the City!. If you're looking for a good burger, Delux is the place to go. Great atmosphere, great waitstaff, and I dont know whats going on with the person before me but anytime i've had the Kobe its been fantastic.
Ami8
Abysmal. Floor was dirty, wooden chairs were scratched and creaky. Atmosphere not at all like their website depicts. The $20 Kobe beef burger was so burned that was all you could taste other than the bun. The poutine and sweet potatoe fries were disgustingly greasy and soggy. <br/><br/>The poor waitstaff must have been short someone since they were all running around all the time. They were really nice and friendly, the only saving grace of our meal.
AJ
Funky Pickles... This place is awesome dudes! Been there 3 times now, and NEVER have any complaints..Super cool vibe, and the best pickles in town..!!
Deanna
OK..... Not the best food ever but good . The burgers are not as good as you would expect but there are some cool things . LIke if you order a side of fries in comes in a mini shopping cart and they give you free cotton candy .
DLar
Great burgers. Possibly the best in the city. No selection. I'm tired of picking from 4-5 burgers. It would be easy to add something to the menu
Cdnfoodie
Overcooked burgar, bocconcini in salid was awful, not worth the time and price.

Overrated and overpriced! If you want to pay too much for a so-so burger and soggy sweet potato fries, Delux should be your next stop.
The 2 Chopsticks
Good food for too much! - 2/5. After reading a lot of reviews and hearing a few people talk about, I decided it'd be worth a try. The decor is pretty nice, very dimly lit, but it suited the place very well. <br/><br/>So it was my friend and my first time here, and he decided that the most expensive thing on the menu would have to be the best. When you think of a $20 burger, you would think that it has to be pretty epic. But it wasn't, it didn't look special, it didn't taste extraordinary, it was just a burger with a lot of stuff in it. I ordered the Chipotle BBQ Chicken burger, and the first thing I noticed (apart from the giant pickle they put on top), was that it had a devilish red tongue sticking out. This was supposed to be the roasted red peppers, which felt cold and soggy... Apart from that, the chicken wasn't bad at all, it was juicy and had good flavor to it. <br/><br/>After we told the server what we wanted to eat, we were surprised that sides like fries and onion rings actually cost extra. I couldn't wrap my mind around the concept of paying $20 for a burger, and just the burger, no fries whatsoever. But we ordered anyways, a delux duo with fries and onion rings. Which as you might have read already, comes in this cute little shopping cart, which I thought was a great idea. I even wanted to take it home with me, that's how much I liked it. But that's a problem isn't it..? <br/><br/>The most interesting thing to me about the Delux Burger Bar was the freaking shopping cart that your fries come in!! <br/><br/>But don't misunderstand, the service was good, the food was great! We thought both our burgers tasted good, the fries and onions rings also tasted good, but it was nothing special. Of course we couldn't help but think of how much money we're paying for barely above average food. $20 for just a burger with lots of things stuffed inside it? Really? <br/><br/>So I think I'll go with the group of people who have decided to stick with Red Robins which has similar, if not better taste, for a much more reasonable price.
Jill Boss
Amazing place! Such a great atmosphere, great staff, I would definately recommend it. Fries in a shopping cart, and cotton candy for desert, this place is sure to please?
Tony
Just average, again. Average food, average service. Limited selection but if you want to pay top $$$ for burger this is the place.
Princessfood
Love this place!. One of the most unique burger places in town. It's burgers with a twist. I love the atmosphere, the food and the service. Wish they would open up others around the city as it is a little out of the way. I love the surprise at the end of the meal...I won't ruin it for those of you who haven't been there!
The Red Hot Chili Pepper
Overpriced. Poor Service!. My burger was close to 15 (!) dollars, My sweet potato fries came out cold and mushy- and were close to 5 dollars! Patio is noisy as near a busy road. TV and music was too loud in the bar. Would not recommend to anyone.
Tony
Nothing special and overpriced. I was not very impressed at all with this place and I had really been looking forward to it. The restaurant was busy so we sat directly beside another group at a large central bar style table - not my favorite thing. Ordered our burgers and were quite surprised they only had 3 burgers. It's supposed to be a burger bar, correct? How well would a regular bar do if they only sold 3 drinks?<br/><br/>The burgers came out and the pattys were pink in the centre. I asked if they could be cooked more and instead they brought the cook out who told me they use a special type of beef that cooks to temperature but stays a bit pink. Interesting how the laws of physics don't exist in the back kitchen. The burger was pretty dry and nothing special. I prefer Red Robin or The Hat burger bar on Jasper more than this place. Oh, and the fries were greasy and warm at best.
David Gabriel
Kobe Stack. What else can you say? This is THE Best crafted meal I've ever had.
Darren Kevin Bolle
They definitely have some of the tastiest burgers around. Although I do agree Red Robin's burgers are good, so are Delux burgers. The sweet potato fries are delicious, and the sauce is as well. I would definitely eat here more often if the food wasn't so pricy.
Justin Ching
Great upscale burgers. So tasty, so juicy just all around great. The only downfall is you have to order your fries as an extra. But when you get that shopping cart of sweet potato fries it all becomes worth it. The deep fried donuts are overpriced so just wait until you get your bill and indulge on the cotton candy they give you.
Pjkg
Appreciated. Although Delux Burger can be a pain to get into at times the food is always good. The staff is always polite and they put up with children in a good way. The restaurant is not meant for kids but the staff still makes them feel special and allows the parents to have a dinner out in a place which is not a family chain. Not that the chains do not have their place but Delux allows parents to be adults in a fun way.
Rob
Erika is full of it. Red robins burgers are frozen, and not good. Delux at least has fresh handmade burgers. Slightly more expensive, but she should known that before going. Menu is on the Internet. Why would you need more than 3 types of burgers? I think they are the best burgers in the city.
Erika Golem
2/5 for Delux Burger Bar. Really not sure what all the hype is about... Because this place really isn't anything special.<br/>I guess it's supposed to be an "upscale" burger joint, and I agree that that concept is pretty cool. The decor is very contemporary, and the place is dimly lit, with blue candles on every table. The condiments come in miniature shopping carts, which is cute... If only the food were better. Plus, I don't mind paying for good food... But this was too much money for pretty mediocre food.<br/><br/>Luckily I was there for girl's night with Rachelle, Amy and Nicole, so that made it fun.<br/>It was cold out, so I ordered a Bailey's and coffee to drink. It was 7.50$ which is stupid.<br/>The menu has some interesting-sounding items on it... But when it comes to the burgers (this is a burger place, isn't it?) there are only three choices. Oh yeah, and the ridiculous 20$ one. <br/>I went with the Kitchen's Burger of the Day for 12$. I forget everything that was in it, but it had a portobello-infused patty and bacon on it. It was nothing special. It tasted good, fresh, and homemade... But there wasn't much else great about it.<br/>None of the burgers come with fries, you have to order them seperately. So I added the Delux Sweet Fries (half order) for 3$. They were bad. They were kinda burnt, and if I wanted the good dipping sauce, that would have cost even more. I'm used to good sweet potato fries a la Da De O. The whole thing left a lot to be desired.<br/>The only really good part was at the end, when the server brought us cotton candy with our bill. That was different and exciting.<br/><br/>I don't plan to eat here again. If I want a delicious gourmet-style burger, my business is going to keep going where it has been this whole time - Red Robin. They make an amazing burger.<br/><br/>"Holy vomit! The sky is red!"<br/>That was the best part of the evening... And it had nothing to do with the restaurant...
Cheryl Cottrell-Smith
Delux offers traditionalist options, yes – but they also have a variety of new and innovative burger creations, including The Delux, which combines blue cheese, portabella mushrooms, and chipolte mayo, and the Bison and Brie burger, which has a bison patty topped with blueberry compote, brie, caramelized onions, and house made mayo. You can also build your own burger using the checklist below. (And yes, that’s Buttered Lobster .) One thing to note, though – Delux’s burgers don’t come served with a side. You can, of course, always add on a side of french fries i

Like most guys I am crazy about a good burger, so my wife introduced me to Delux. This isn’t your typical burger joint. In fact it is more gourmet dining than a soda shop atmosphere. We went to the location on 142nd ST for our first time. This place is small but very nicely laid out. We went early and it was a good thing because by noon it was packed to capacity with people waiting.
