Review Tasty Tom's On Whyte - Edmonton

Greg Mottl
Came here for the first time today. And love the place. Very much a diner-style menu. But the food was fresh and very tasty! Had a burger that was really good and look forward to trying other dishes. Have to say probably the friendliest staff I have ever met and had at any restaurant. When you sit down here you feel like family! Their Tasty Tom's in-house ketchup is amazing! If you are in need of a great breakfast or lunch this is a place you must try!

Awesome place. Every now and then, when me and my family are walking aroud on White we stop by here for a breakfast, which is the best I've ever tried since we moved to Canada. Also, the plates are huge and prices are fair. What else might you ask for?

Authentic is the best way to describe the taste. After one bite it made me feel like i was 6 years old and having breakfast with my mom at our local small town restaurant. The portions were large enough to satisfy my large appetite. The breakfast sausage was the best I’ve had since moving to the city. The bacon was a full strip and cooked nice and crispy. The omelettes are as quite large so be careful. The potatoes are great and a touch of salt takes them up a notch. 10/10 will go again.

The food is DELICIOUS! I had the Spinach & mushroom omlette with the crab cake and brie added. It was an epicurean delight. The portions are generous. The service is friendly in this family run business. Try their home-made ketchup. Yummy 😋

Really cute spot for breakfast/lunch. Had the big breakfast & my partner had the brie omelette. Both were super tasty. Everything came out super fast as well. Service was excellent. Only complaints are that the potatoes were partially cold & the coffee was very weak. Overall, it was a good experience. We will be back to try the Montreal smoked Reuben.

Excellent breakfast and quick friendly service too. Very reasonably priced. This bacon and cheddar burger was really, really tasty.

3.5 stars. It's become more diner, less interesting. Food okay. Prices okay. Used to really like their spicy curry ketchup but now it tastes more like sweet and spicy plum sauce. I can't get past the sliced processed cheese on the omelette. Tastes nasty like cheese whiz. I actually thought was half a slice. Wish we could pay to upgrade to a good portion of real cheese. Service extremely slow but friendly. Honestly, will probably be dropping this restaurant from my repertoire.

I love coming here for breakfast!! Always delicious.

I've eaten here a few times and unfortunately it has always been disappointing. Most recently on a Friday I ordered a steak sandwich for lunch. The service was friendly but glacially slow, with getting a partial cup of terrible coffee taking at least 10 minutes. The "strip loin" steak was full of gristle, the toast was actually just 2 slices of bread and the waitress never came back. We eventually sent someone to find her and ask for more coffee. I won't be going back.

Went if for breakfast, absolutely amazing big portion meal - will definitely be returning - my now go-to for breakfast - will be recommending to everyone

Had the reuben and it was really tasty. Nice place, would go back!
Jessica L. Yardale
My favorite place to go. It's super cute and the food is awesome!
Robin Walker
I enjoyed my meal greatly. Great value for money, but I wish that some of the dishes came in smaller servings. This may be the only place I have ever visited where the omelets are standard 4-eggers. That would be enough for my wife and me together.
Lottie Campbell
Amazing food and service! The best place on Whyte

Decided to stroll down Whyte today and decided to check this place out. Excellent food, prices and staff!

An annual Christmas destination from out of town when we do our shopping an Whyte!
Karl Mueller
Great food. Reasonable price. Friendly service. We will be back.

Yummmm Great portions, delicious food, quiet and cute atmosphere. Jill and I split the Brie Omelette with syrup and walnusts and the Monte Criste with pear, ham, swiss, and syrup. Both were great and the side potatoes were more of a delicious hash. Bought a bottle of the homemade ketchup and will return!
Tony Kay Hewlett
The food and service is awesome. They make the best Spinach omelette I have ever tasted.
Tracy Takacs
Always fabulous food - check it out!

Wonderful place to have weekend brunch! The food is yum, and quantity is worth the price. The ambience is ok. We ordered one of the omelettes and sandwiches. The pan fried potatoes are the best of all. Highly recommended.

It's great to see another German restaurant on Whyte Ave. We stopped in for a Saturday breakfast and had the special Bratwurst with eggs. This is a huge breakfast. You will not leave hungry. The Café was full throughout the time we were there and usually there was a a lineup. Service was prompt and friendly. I want to come back as a saw Reuben sandwiches and I must try them out. Prices are reasonable given the size of the plates. If you are hungry and want a hardy meal for your day come early and enjoy. I certainly enjoyed it.

Schnitzel Egg’s Benedict and Bacon Egg’s Benedict

I love breakfast food but I usually skip this meal. That’s why weekends are best for stuff your face full of bacon and some sort of yolky egg. Tasty Tom’s has your bfast fix if you want french toast, pancakes. omelettes or even steak and eggs. The day we went it was Benedict central. The schnitzel egg’s benedict was huge. Portions were large, the egg was soft and the hollandaise was citrus flavored. Schnitzel was cooked traditionally, quite thin and well fried. Bacon and egg’s was pretty much the same but with juicy bacon. Forgot to mention that it was also served with hash as well. Not overly crispy either, had a good texture yknow?

Located on Whyte ave near 100 st, this place is an ok spot for bfast. The interior is old school and service was great. Would go back to try everything else here for breakfast.

Sal says: Just Try It (3.5/5)

@duchessgummybunzz says: Pretty decent. Well made egg. I prefer a richer hollandaise. The bacon was nicely cooked

#yegeats #yeg #food #foodie #foodporn #foodgasm #foodpics #foodstagram #instafood #delicious #hungry #yummy #dinner #lunch #breakfast #whyte #eggs

Tough to rate this place. My rating just straddles the line between a 4 and a 3.5, really though hard about what direction to round it in.
Tasty toms is the kind of place I would like to see more of on Whyte ave. Specifically humble places with good portions and lower prices. It seems for a youth oriented district you would see more of that but its really become a boujee area, lots of great, but fancy and expensive resto's line the Avenue. I'm not really sure where the students and starving musicians of Whyte can afford to dine at.
Tasty toms is set up in some really modest digs, I kinda like that, it feels homie, that and our modest and and sweet waitress really made the place feel like a classic, friendly, family owned diner.
The breakfast, which is served all day, has a few interesting menu options, but for the most part it's pretty ordinary breakfast food. I had heard that they really are known for their burgers here so I ordered the breakfast burger. It was an awesome portion for the price, but the burger wasn't as good as I was expecting, it was good and greasy so I would have expected good flavor but it was honestly kind of bland. Not bad, not unpalatable, just bland. Texture was great, fresh beef and veggies, but it just didn't have an impact on my taste buds. That's really my only complaint, that and while the price was good, I think considering how humble and basic the fair was it could have been a little cheaper still.
I'm rounding it to a 4 because I think if you take matters into your own hands you could punch up the flavor a bit for yourself. Put some of the house ketchup in there or take to the salt shaker, request some extra condiments, that sort of thing. But this is only a marginal 4, and it's mostly over value, so if money or portion are non-issues to you, and you just want somewhere that tastes good or has something culinary interesting then you'd probably be happier if you splurged somewhere else.

Fantastic breakfast/ brunch/ lunch place, the food is tasty (tasty tom's... haha) and the portions are filling. It has sort of a grandparents feel to it and is comfortable. I highly recommend this place if your nearby, make sure you go early and parking nearby is limited and the restaurant does not seat many people.
Foodie-ness89
Decided to stop at this place for lunch while on a quick errand run on whyte ave. Service was fast, tried the bacon cheddar burger and the chili cheese burger. One with a side of fries and one with a side caesar salad. They have their own Tasty Tom's ketchup which was kind of different tasting. Big portions for what you pay. Would recommend. Will have to come back to try the breakfast menu items. Mainly a sandwich/burgers and breakfast place if that's what's your looking for then I would say check it out!
Jasmin
Great little place, service was great and food was delicious. A bit of a wait for our breakfast, probably 30 minutes. Wont stop me from coming back though!

Delicious breakfast.
Hits the spot every time as we say.

Home made sauce that compliments the breakfast.
Original menu if you feel adventurous.

Like this restaurant's Bacon. I went to lots of breakfast place, Most of place use very thin Bacon. Of course, we paid what do you got. Tom's bacon is thick, feel home good quality. I love it.

Went for breakfast this weekend because we could not get in anywhere else. Still such a lack of good, non chain, breakfast joints in this burg. The place was very clean and neat with only 2 other tables seated. Upon review of the smallish menu I was excited to see a Monte cristo sandwich on the menu and ordered that and a coffee although the chili cheese omelette sounded intriguing. My girlfriend ordered the big breakfast with 1 pancake on the side with an orange juice. The waitress was very efficient and friendly. As I looked around a bit I watched our server pull out a dissapointing yellow no name box of oj and pour a glass without shaking the carton leaving the juice quite watery and tasteless. As I scanned the kitchen I noticed a number of these sad, yellow containers housing various things. Sigh. Our food came quickly and looked quite good. My sandwich was tasty but small and there was a surprising canned pear sliced up inside it which I tried but pulled out. (Probably from one of the aforementioned yellow containers). My companions meal was very good with an excellent fluffy pancake and enough home fries to choke a pony. Mine also had an abundance of these which were good. All in all it was a fair to good meal and I think we will return. Service was excellent. Oh yeah, coffee was bland and flavourless but individual tastes vary I guess.

New owners but still a quality burger place.. I've been going to Tasty Tom's for a few years, but hadn't been there in a while before my last visit. However, pretty quickly after returning, I realized that they had new owners and the business had been sold. So I had what I usually get - the blue cheese burger - and for the most part, it was the same. With the burger, the quality wasn't quite what I remembered, but it was pretty close. And they still had the same recipe for the in-house, custom ketchup that is excellent and seems to have a slight curry flavour to it. But instead of fries, they had served cut potato wedges. However they were a little burned. Mind you, it's been a little while since I was there, and I need to go back and see if the new owners have progressed at all. It goes without saying that there will be an adjustment period after you purchase a business.

As for the interior, it's nothing special, and that's fine. It's not a place to go for the "ambiance". It's a locally owned burger place. And the service did seem to be improved from how it used to be, so that's a plus. I'll go back shortly and reevaluate things.

GREAT food!! BETTER service!!. I started coming to Tasty Tom's since 2012. Their delicious food and great service always bring me back to the restaurant. My favorite dish is their spinach omelette. It's fluffy on the outside and silky on the inside, and of course, it's stuffed with enough amount of spinach, mushroom, and cheese. It also comes with a large portion of pan-fried potatoes and two slices of toast, which most of the time I can not finish. However, on some late Saturday and Sunday mornings when I feel very hungry, I would also add brie crab cakes to my dish. OMG!! That is WONDERFUL!!! I also like their service very much. The speed they serve food is one of the fastest I've seen in town. You know the feeling waiting for food when you are hungry, but at Tasty Tom's I do not need to worry about it at all. For such a nice dining place, I'll keep coming to it for sure!!
Stevie_wonder_11
Ordered and blt, wasn't given any side option so they took it apon themselves to give me a sloppy mix of mostly onion and some grilled potatoes. Burnt the toast and I'm allergic to onions. Maybe they should include what the meal comes with in the menu. Just saying that's usually common practice. Won't be going there again for a 15 dollar cup of oj.

Not good. Used to be my favorite burger place. The garlic burger and homefries used to be the best.

Now I think they changed ownership. The burger was bland. The homefries were not crispy or seasoned. They use processed cheese. The home made ketchup has changed as well. Gross.

The beer was disgusting. Tasted sour.

Very disappointing. Will not be returning.

This was our favorite breakfast place and now it is not, and that makes us sad. The breakfast lacks luster, the homefries were under seasoned and not tossed with delicious onions and crispy bits like they used to be under the original owners. Even the toast was blah. Thin slices of ham made me miss the thick deliciousness of the days of yore. This is very sad indeed.

The server was nice. The food left me unsatisfied and disappointed. The shrimp appetizer was cooked very well, however the yummiest of the Yaki Yaki sauce remained entirely on the plate. A spoon and some bread for dipping into the sauce would have made the dish a winner. The seafood pasta was bland and a very sloppy looking plate. It needs some work to make this dish tastie and appetizing. Really it was like plain warm cream pasta soup. The salt and pepper I needed to add couldn't save this. My guest ate a burger with mushrooms served with fries. It was ordinary. The homemade ketchup was delicious. It might be for sale. If it is, it's a shame it was not promoted. If it's not, it should be...

Definitely different than it used to be! Hubby and I have not been here in a long time. We used to rave about this place. I am definitely not one to complain - but I feel I have to. Meal was terrible! Service was great, but food .... A great disappointment. We definitely will not be back. Sad what has happened to the food here.

Best Burger In Edmonton. Tasty Tom's is always our favorite when it comes to weekend brunch, or to satisfy a burger craving. Service is always speedy, Only downside is that the menu is a bit limited. Still searching, but to date Tasty Tom's has the best burger in Edmonton. Highly recommended.

Best Omelettes. I've been coming to Tasty Toms for years for their breakfasts and they never disappoint. We braved the cold today and are glad we did. Their omelettes are the best in town. My husband had the 2 egg breakfast and the ham was so thick he couldn’t finish all his meal. Our coffee was served to us quickly and the waitress was friendly and helpful. Always a pleasure.

Monica

Sub standard. I have been a patron of this restaurant since it opened several years ago. It used to be a fantastic restaurant offering good value for good quality food. I have eaten there twice since new owners took over in April. The first time seemed different but somewhat ok. The last time was recently and will for sure be my last time in that restaurant. The place was like a ghost town on a Thursday night (when it usually would've been packed) and that should have offered up the first clue of what was to come. Service was mediocre at best but the food was the real atrocity. We actually took a bite of our chicken reuben and sent it back because the meat was grisly and fatty (wonder what part of the chicken that came from?) and the sauce tasted like canned soup poured on it, there was no cheese present anywhere on the sandwich. All in all pretty disgusting. We went elsewhere to eat because the food was inedible. Don't be fooled if you are a previous patron and see that the menu is still the same. The current ownership is definitely interested in their own pockets more than they are in providing the customer with a good experience.

Have been going here for years, mostly after shopping at the deli and bakery across street. Last time was today. New owners and food is not the same quality anymore. We both ordered the Shnitzel burger, no fries. A schnitzel is not a slice of fatty pork roast! The coffee was old too. We knew when we walked in, it was differant but decided to stay. Won't be back!!
Frank
Not again! Ordered a glass .... Not again!
Ordered a glass of Chardonney, it's terrible box plunk that I would not even use when cooking. Ordered Kasler, it's a smoked pork chop and comes with sour kraut, red cabbage and fried potato. The chop just came out of the freezer and was still cold inside, also very small ( thinly sliced) not worth the $14. Plate itself was cold, so everything on my plate was luck warm at best! My wife's burger very below par! Not what it used to be.

Our waitress was a delight this morning, and my spinach omlette was hands down no lie the best breaky ive ever eaten, made this acct just to pass this news on lol

Tasty toms used to be a great gem of a breakfast place . I have been coming here for a few years and it was great. But recently there has been a steady decline in the quality of food. Waitresses are always very helpful and pleasant, but I believe that they have a new cook who is taking the reputation down hill. New management took over April 2013. Some hick ups on the starting. Hopefully they get the quality back.

Tasty Toms, Not what it used to be.. Recently changed ownership, TT's used to be a regular stop for myself and my wife. Today was just awful, and we will not return. We have both been in the food industry for more than 25 years, I'm a chef by trade. I hardly EVER write reviews on restaurants, being in the industry we take each questionable experience with a grain of salt. This was a train wreck from back to front. Food arrived before the drinks/coffee. Cook actually said to the table behind us- "Sorry for the bad ham, we go in another box and find the good one" I didn't even touch my meal, the Eggs benny, server said it was real hollandaise but was a gelatinous congealed white pile of goop. Tasted it, big mistake. Schnitzel ruben used to be sooooo good, I hate to say it but today was disgusting. Paid for both meals and left, total time in restaurant about 25 minutes. No acknowlegement from either server regarding our abrupt departure, with 1.5 untouched meals still on our able, she gladly accepted her 10% tip and wished us a nice day. Sorry Tasty Toms, never again, and I will warn others as well.

Schnitzel Burger? Yes Please!. Tried the Schnitzel burger today it was great. Large portions for both the Schnitzel and the Fries. The house Ketchup is unique, and definitely worth checking out.

Cheers,
Ryan.

Yummy Canadian Omellett. Had the breakfast today. Very good. Huge portions and tastes great. Our waitress was excellent. Will be back again soon.

Undwr new management...the breakfast is smaller and not near as good...yet the price is still the same

Nice suprise. On the crappy end of whyte av near 99th I was surprised in a very good way, the small place is cozy like a small pub almost and there patio was nice and unique. The food; I had the kassler a smoked parked chop with sauerkraut and potatoes it was traditional and very good (12.50) good price). Very nice little place actually and oh YA! they have there own ketchup and it is fantastic!
J Baternad
Greasy Spoon. Greasy spoon - lots of fried foods and cheesy sauces. Chili cheese fries are great for a hang over. Dinning room and washrooms are not especially clean. Interesting homemade ketchup. Reasonable prices. More often than not the service is slow, and it isn't unusual to get something other than what you ordered. Omelettes and hamburgers seem to be a large part of their business.
Amanda
Wine in the hollandaise?? Who does that? Sorry. After waiting nearly an hour for our food, my bennies had to go back. Hubby and daughter had the burgers which were good. Nothing to really recommend. Not the worst, not the best.
Mike Oxbig
Great food, great service, I love eating here! They make a pretty good bacon cheese burger with garlic mushrooms, and the homemade ketchup is awesome too, and they curry mayo they have is amazing!
Shane
Maybe an off day?. Went there a week ago for lunch. Friend ordered a burger, I wanted to try their Schnitzel Reuben sandwich and poutinue. When the order came my friend's looked good but mine was just a plain Reuben "burger" and not what I ordered. The server offered to make me what I had originally ordered but as time was a factor, and I didn't want my friend to have to wait to eat, I said I would just eat what I had. Both burgers were ok, well prepared still just ok, but the poutine was really...well... it was not a poutine at all. I am not a purist, but still, some things can't be tampered with and "home fries" with gravy and grated cheese is not poutine at all. When the bill came we were charged full price and nothing was comped to make up for the mistake in the meal, not even the drinks. Not a terrible place and certainly the server was doing her best, but really neither of us ate anything that made us want to come back.

Best burgers on whyte!. Dont let the tiny space and mismatched tables fool you, these guys have the best burgers and rubens in town. they do take out and their prices are very reasonable. I am always in search of the perfect burger, and I am pretty sure I found it here at Tasty Toms!
BRubble
Tasty indeed.. Best burgers in town, hands down. Great service. I just wonder why, when I'm in dire need of one of their fabulous meaty treats, they are never open. Damn you Tasty Tom for tugging at my heart strings when I need you so badly.
Great house ketchup, sandwiches, etc. I have never ever been disappointed coming here. Overall a great Mom and Pop Place for wonderful eats.
Samma88
I had the Eggs Benedict and it was good! Busy place so plan on getting there early or waiting in line. Caesar's were good too.
Hungrygirl310
Cheap and Yummy!. I was so happy to see my bill come to under 30$ for a friend and myself to eat breakfast! Great food, good portions and really laid back Whyte Ave feel! Will defiantly go back!
Sundy
Worst service Ever!. We stood at the front for 5 minutes and no one said anything to us so we sat ourselves. Then the waitress came over and yelled at us for seating ourselves. Waited a very long time for drinks from an extremely pissed off and cranky waitress. I had the BLT which was decent and Rich had a plain burger. Nothing spectacular food wise but it was decent. However the service just continued to be a nightmare. We got no cutlery or napkins and the waitress never acknowledged us again to see how our food was . When I got my sandwich and fries wrapped up to go she only put half my food in the container! Waited 10 minutes for the bill and we eventually went up to the till where we had to wait another 5 minutes for anyone to come near us and then another 5 minutes after that for the waitress to write up the bill. Worst service I have ever had and every staff member in there looked like they wanted to off themselves because they were so miserable!
Lindsay Clark
Horrible food. Horrible service. Our food arrived after three tables seated after us got theirs. No acknowledgement. No apology. The food was disgusting. There was what appeared to be cheese wiz in the omelette and the bacon was solid fat and undercooked. We took two bites after our 45 minute wait and left. I will never go back.
Amanda
Ive been to germany and have had a hunterscchnitzel there...and I gotta say it was a close second to tasty toms!! Move to calgary!!! Ill be fat and happy!

For Schnitzel. I've been to Tasty Tom's a number of times over the last year. The food has always been amazing and the service as good as can be when you have one server doing it all.

I go for the schnitzel, they just do it right. It's light, tender, and crispy without being greasy. I would recommend the Schnitzel Rueben with their home fries. The hunter and wiener -schnitzel dishes are a bit of a commitment; delicious but overwhelming in portion. They have a selection of tasty sausages and their salads always pop with an array of fresh flavours.

I will note that their signature curry ketchup can be a bit much first time around but having sampled it a few times now my brain has decided I like it. However, having a non-curried option of homemade ketchup would go a long way.

Overall, this is a great little diner with some well prepared ethnic food on the menu. They also have some neat art up on the walls that seems to change every month or so. I'll definitely be back!
Victor Domingo Avalos
Nice small place. Simple and good. I recommend if you need a simple breakfast then come to Tasty Tom's

The best of the best!. I have been frequenting Tasty Tom's for years now... and never a disappointment.
From the amazing wait staff to the fantastic flavours of burgers and omelettes! Wonderful place for a casual dinner or hangover breakfast! Love love love it!
Highly recommended!
Thanks for always being my comfort place on Whyte! Keep up the great job guys!
Jody North
An eclectic mix of fun people, and great food. A tight space when it's busy... But it lends to the funky atmosphere. My husband loves the Big Breakfast, I love the Omlettes.
Monika
We love dining at Toms mostly because of the home fries. The wait staff could be better, but we tolerate it because our food has been consistently delicious! If you're a huge burger fan, make sure to check it out! Nothing compares.
Algaliarept
The homemade ketchup is super good!. I enjoyed Tasty Tom's, the burger I ordered was fantastic, I believe it was the garlic mushroom burger. The service is a little on the slow side, but is very friendly. The real star of the meal is their homemade ketchup/chutney really tasty and tangy!
Brandy
The food is pretty good but uber slow service and did not enjoy being charged for coffee refills.
Jen
Sure... Pretty Tasty. Ah, so here I am, stop 13 on my brunch tour of Edmonton. I always try not to expect anything when I go into a place, as that's rarely what I get. However, after hearing things like "You haven't been to Tasty Tom's? Do you live under a rock?", It's hard not to form premature opinions.

The restaurant is small and cute. Comfortable chairs (which are nice when you're there for the long haul), and tastefully decorated with comissionned art on the walls.

I was initally quite disappointed to see that eggs benedict was not on the menu. The waitress told us that it's normally a feature, but we were not so lucky that day. We both ordered the big breakfast. And big it was! Two eggs any style, ham, sausage and bacon, hashbrowns and toast. The eggs were nice and hot when brought out. There's nothing I love more than hot eggs. Sausage was a bit greasy, but tasted great. Lots of flavor and not just salt. The potatoes were REALLY good. And they came in a heaping mound. The restaurant also offers home made ketchup to dress the potatoes up a bit.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay there. The service was lovely, the food tasty and plentiful. Hopefully next time I'll be so lucky as to get the eggs benny!
Moos
Good food, bad service. The food was pretty good, however the service was very poor. We were seated before two other tables however the other two tables were served first and as a result they were finished their meal even before we got ours.

The burger I had was great but because of their service we did not have a very good experience.
Picky Pigs
Lukewarm & Letdown. I had much higher hopes for Tasty Tom's after reading all the reviews. We stopped in for a quick late lunch, just after 1pm on a Thursday. The place, modest and cozy, was sparsely occupied, so we were immediately seated at a table near the back. Our server took our orders, and kindly provided us with a brunch menu. We ordered coffee, then we decided on the two eggs breakfast and the garden burger. Coffee was good, but as our server put two heaping plates down in front of us, the sighs began.
Though our server had kindly substituted a salad for the meat portion, the two eggs was a letdown. The poached eggs had a grey skin, and the bread was insubstantial, and the salad was overwhelmed by oily dressing. The potatoes, while actually tasty, seemed old as though they'd been reheated (but were not warm enough).
The garden burger was, as predicted, an acceptable store-bought veggie pattie, piled with limp red peppers. It tasted fine, with a nice crunchy pickle and onions, but the pasty white bun disintegrated under duress. The fries (actually sliced potato wedges) looked really good, but seemed oversaturated and lukewarm- I've had hotter fries from A&W.
Let me say something about the ketchup. It's admirable that they make their own, but the overwhelming garlic taste was a distraction, and I couldn't get past the sensation of East Indian spices. I just wanted ketchup, and that wasn't it.
Our seating near the back door proved very unfortunate, as the staff kept going in and out, as did a delivery guy, whose numerous trips subjected us to the day's constant sub-zero breezes. But who doesn't like cold fries?
The one good thing about the meal was the service. Our server was very nice, and perfectly attentive.
Walking in, I had much higher hopes. Everything about Tasty Tom's lead me to expect much more than overpriced diner food, and for that I won't be back.
Jessi
Mmmm, breakfast!. The best steak and eggs I have ever had!!
The quality of the food was excellent and so was the presentation. The atmosphere was great; It is cozy and small so be prepared to wait for a seat if you go, but rest assured, the wait is worth it. I do have to admit that the service was not entirely up to par however considering how busy it was, she was fairly efficient.
I will definitely be going again for a wonderful Sunday brunch!

I would rate this restaurant with 4/5 noms!
Food: Presentation, taste and quality: 3/3
Service: Friendly and efficient: 1/2
Om-nom-nom-nom-nom!
Jason
Achtung Baby. Greasy spoon comfort food done really really well. 'Nuff said? No? Hands down the best Weiner Schnitzel in town: big, crispy, tender served with creamy potato salad. You can only responsibly eat here once every couple of months, even with an active gym membership.
TS
I have been going here since it opened, many years ago. Awesome food. The decor or "diner feel" might not be for everyone, although it is perfectly fine for me. With that said, you go here for the food. The German fusion food is amazing and I've never been let down by any menu choices. And their homemade ketchup and their fries are the best in the world! Highly recommend the schnitzel rueben.
Carlos Alexandre
Found by chance when another place was too busy. Small place. Food is ridiculously good. Everything appears to be prepared fresh. The burgers' flavor rivals that of Seattle's Red Mill Burgers, and I don't make that claim lightly.
Rick Millns
Tasty is right. I've been in twice already Bacon cheese burger is unbelievable the most bacon I've ever had on a burger Fresh made burger pattie fresh lettuce tomatoe etc. home fries are off the hook portion size is crazy not much room left for the homemade pies.
Second time I had the Fish burger....
if you expect a tiny little fish pattie think again this fish burger was a full fillet of cod perfectly cooked in a homemade beer batter with a homemade tartar sauce and a homemade curry mayo. just to die.

Mixed Feelings. Its a bitt of a greasy spoon, but if your a fan then its worth the visit. I went with my cousin and she loved the grease where as I was a little grossed out. On both occasions that I have gone the service has been mediocre to poor. The first time I went was for breakfast and it was crazy busy and we were on the back patio and saw my server maybe twice, so not entirely her fault. The second time was for lunch and the restaurant was nearly empty except for a few guys sitting at the bar. The server never said a word to us, even when she came to take are orders she just stood there holding her notepad out waiting for us to get the hint it was time to order.
I am trying to avoid this place.

Even being under new management since the middle of 2013, (so no Cuban sandwich for me), the decor was about the same that I’d remembered. I wasn’t really sure if that was good or bad, actually. Simple and unassuming, a mishmash of different tables and chairs, but clean. My friend and I were told we could pick our table, so we did, made ourselves comfortable, and service began.

After checking out both menus (breakfast that goes till 3, and lunch that goes til 5………. odd, but ok), I decided upon the Schnitzel Burger (Breaded pork cutlet, Swiss, mustard, mayonnaise). My friend chose The Weiner Schnitzel (Breaded pork cutlet with lemon and potato salad). Those descriptions were taken verbatim, so I had to wonder, did they pay the printer by the word or something

First up is Tasty Tom’s, a small bistro on the east end of the avenue that was a favourite of mine years ago but fell out of favour for a number of reasons. Tasty Tom’s was a real gem when I was a regular, with delicious comfort food, and fair prices for large portions. As is common with small restaurants though, things started to slip when the owner wasn’t there cooking; which was more and more often. The food got inconsistent, and the prices started to rise. That’s a fatal combination, and one that slowly drove us away.
