Review Calle Mexico - Edmonton

Delicious, authentic Mexican food! Somehow the plastic plates and cheap decor just makes the experience feel even more authentic. The food was amazing. The service was quick. I would rate this a hidden gem of Edmonton. 10/10 fully recommend.

This has always been my favourite place for authentic tacos in Edmonton. The original location most exceptionally. The restaurant is CLEAN feels authentic and staff is friendly and committed to providing great service. Jerry stood out to us as a great team player and had no problem stepping away from what he was doing a few times this evening to assist his coworkers and us with anything that was needed without hesitation. We did take out numerous times over covid and even ordered my birthday dinner here one year! The first time I remember coming to this location was with my grandmother who used to have her own car wash/taco place in Cancun, of course even she loved them and said the experience brought her back which is very special. 5 stars, without a second thought - thanks for an all around great experience, always! Calle 107 ♡ Edit: I almost forgot until I added the photos.. don't mind the steak (asadas). I know its not everyone's preference but, I asked for extra cilantro because I love it and BOY DID THEY DELIVER 🙏👌♡

I am torn to be honest! Hope you read all of my review. I been coming to this restaurant since it opened up, not sure if it changed owners or their expansion of two more locations hurt then. The only thing that saved my meal was the tacos al pastor, this you have to try, they are the best. The nachos were disappointing, the meet was Luke warm, cheese was not heated at all, chips were oily but Luke warm. I remember the meat being so tasteful and nice chunks of it as well. This time I must say it was disappointing on the food quality. The enchiladas were very blend, the chicken in them had no flavour, tasted like boiled chicken and the green sauce needed some help. Look.. I am Latino and I know Latin food. Unfortunately, this is something that happens to most small places when they expand; the quality changes and recipes are not followed. I am heart broken to be honest, I am hoping they maybe had a bad day. unfortunately, I had a bad meal on their west end location as well and this location was always on point until now. I will try it again and let you know how it goes. Nevertheless, please give it a try and let me know your thoughts. Like I said their tacos never disappoint, I can bouche for that 100%. Until next time #chicosreviews76

I finally found an authentic Mexican restaurant that my wife can also enjoy. Everything was perfect! I had the #1 and she had the #8 and so good I ordered it again! I left stuffed and ready for a siesta! I highly recommend this place!

Today was my second time ordering from Calle Mexico. First time was takeout: they were so kind to call and ask me what time I'd be arriving. They'd prepare it closer to my arrival so it's fresh and doesn't get soggy. The second time was delivery: they were so sweet with their little messages, thanking me for supporting their business, which I will GLADLY do again. Highly recommend this restaurant for their amazing flavors and their portions. You will NOT be disappointed! Thank you 😊

Food was decent, little bit of a longer wait on a busy day. While sitting I noticed that take out was quite popular. Give it a try!

Great Restaurant serving up some tasty Mexican cuisine. Staff is super friendly and very accommodating.

The reviews described Calle Mexico as a "little gem" with "great food" and super friendly staff. Sorry. Okay food (not the nachos which were burnt) and just okay tacos. The staff were pleasant but paid us very little heed. Tres Amigos is better and the Mexican place on Whyte (I understand) better still.

Another hidden gem you could easily pass by, Calle Mexico’s food is fresh and tasty, and popular with the locals. The salsas can be taken as mild or as hot as you wish, and the prices are right too!

The fish tacos are good. And so is the soup! I love the condiments they have too to put on if you like things a little spicier. And of course the margaritas are good.

We loved the vibe and the staff at this authentic hole-in-the-wall. However, we found the food, especially the tortas and self-serve sauces, lacked flavour.

- C&V xoxo

Great authentic tacos, always have the el pastor and tried the langua (beef tongue).

We have tried both the food truck and the main restaurant and this place is spot on for reminding us we have a truly Mexican place in the heart of he city.

Reminds me so much of being in Mexico. Be sure to help yourself to the salsas they do enhance help enhance the flavours forsure but the food is just fine as it comes.

If you want truly Mexican food this is the place to go!

If you don’t like this place then you should probably stick to Taco time since you don’t know what REAL MEXICAN food is.

Had Calle catered for an event at work and it was delicious!! Really reminded me of Mexico and everything was fresh, large portions and super tasty!

In the heart of edmonton just outside china town, calle is a bit of a hole in the wall although not dingy or dirty at all. the staff are polite and helpful. the open salsa bar is a nice touch, though I would like to see larger cups and more variety.
the tacos here are some of the best in the city and decent value. the nachos are also some of the best I have ever eaten. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I've been to this place many times and it never fails me! My favourite are the fish tacos, probably the best I've had here in Edmonton! Love it!

Two of us went for lunch. We ordered the nachos, and two sopes. The nachos were good but quite heavily deep fried. The sopes were dense and bland but once we added some of the complimentary sauces, they became acceptable. I would not order the same things next time. Other dishes that other patrons ordered looked much better than what we ordered. Notably, the enchiladas.
I Dunno, Like..... Burtis, I Guess
Just had three tacos from the food truck at the south side farmers market! Very tasty, hit the spot! I liked the pork one the best. Gonna have to try the restaurant next

Calle Mexico is probably the closest you'll get to authentic Mexican cuisine. Located not really in the most ideal place for a restaurant, the area isn't the greatest and parking can be a tremendous pain. But once you're in its a pretty laid back setup. You can see the kitchen at the front and they have a decent sized menu. You order first, pay, grab your number stub and they'll bring your food to your table. They also have open condiments and napkins for you to help yourself.

I got nachos and dip to snack on and they're pretty bomb. The salsa is not the traditional salsa most know, it's more wet then anything else. But man is it good. Their chips are also super crispy with a super satisfying snap. I also got Horchata. If you don't know Horchata it's a milky drink with warm spices like vanilla & cinnamon. It may sound weird but it's refreshing and light. My girlfriend got Steak (Asada) Tacos. They come with 3 and are small but super damn good. I got their Beef Tongue (Lengua) Tacos and these were delicious. The beef tongue was super tender and almost melted in my mouth with each bite. The food quality and taste is reminiscent of LA's Mexican food but that's where it stops. It's kinda of expensive here like the tacos are almost $12 and even though they were very good I was still hungry.

Calle Mexico is a easy authentic stepping stone into the good old Mexican taco. Damn good but I'm not sold on the price though. Nearly $40 by the end and I was still hungry. Give it a try though but just a try if you can stomach the price.

It's a cold day, I just had the worst day of my life, going past this cute little restaurant I decided to try it out. Needless to say, I walked out happy and full of delight, from the excellent service to the outstanding food done with authenticity had me going back again and again. Gracias por todo.

Hola Calle Mexico, it’s been way too long for me to have not visited you yet. Ugh, I won’t make that mistake again. Even though I’ve never been to their food truck, I’ve been wanting to try their new digs since it first opened. Seems like quite a few spots have opened along 107 Avenue, I like it.

So despite this place having amazing reviews on Google and Yelp….I just don’t know why. Veal Torta was deep fried breaded veal topped with beans, ham, lettuce, cheese, chipotle cream, tomatoes, and avocado. Despite having alot of ingredients that I liked, it just tasted like alot of bread and lettuce. There was nothing really special about the bread, or the veal, just mouthful of lettuce. Same goes for the Tostadas. It was topped with beans, chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, radish, sour cream, feta cheese, and avocados but for the most part just tasted like lettuce. Behind all that lettuce though was some decent tasting chicken and a crisp tostada.

Located on 107th ave and 112 st, this place is small and it’s limitations give it’s mexican charm. However, it was the small things that made me think twice about this place. They had toppings such as hot sauce on the side , but also they had guacamole. A neon green liquid guacamole that i’ve never seen and don’t care to understand. What also didn’t make sense to me was the pricing as 3 tacos were $13 and that’s 3 more dollars than other places in Edmonton that make a good taco. Maybe I went to Calle Mexico on a bad day but I can’t really recommend this place to anyone.

Sal says: Just Skip It

#yegeats #yegdt #food #foodie #foodporn #instafood #delicious #lunch #tasty #yummy #mexican

The food is very greasy and lacks authentic flavor and the salsa tasted like tomato paste ... very expensive for just 3 tacos, I don't understand why some people rate this place so high I was very dissapointed Will never go back but it doesn't matter with food like this they won't be open very long.

Firstly, I am so excited that this little slice of taco heaven is within walking distance.

I had been trying to get to the food truck, but when you work out of town, that is hard to do. I was happy to find out that they have an actual restaurant as well.

Juan and Angelica are the smiling faces behind the great food. Juan is a red seal chef that has been featured a few times now on local television cooking segments. He loves what he does and it shows!

At Calle, you will find authentic Mexican food. They have a set menu at the restaurant and at the food truck. There is a daily special and it doesn't really matter what it is, you should try it! They have a featured dessert as well, which I haven't had the room to try yet.

Hot sauces are made in house. I am a big fan of the tomatillo version; just the right amount of mild heat.

Everything that I have been able to try so far has been really, really good. They aren't licensed, but they have horchata which is almost as good.

The restaurant is tiny, so don't expect to bring 20 of your friends in for a meal. Get Calle to come to you and cater!

The restaurant is generally open from 10 am to 9 pm, parking available on the street in front. You can find the food truck schedule on the streetfood app.

Absaloutly amazing! Tostadas were to die for. Food was fresh and everything was authentic. Steak was cooked great and very tender and full of flavour. Give it a try, it will not dissapoint!

Calle Mexico used to be a food truck bringing authentic Mexican flavours to E-towners. Now they have 'grown up' to become a full fledged eatery (albeit a hole in the wall one) in 'hood of Queen Mary Park.
The tiny shop is clean, run by the friendly owner an, has a few tables for eating-in (but more of a take-out place) and a short but simple men to choose from.
There are tacos and tortas (sandwiches) with chicken, beef or pork choices, Jarritos to wash these down and traditional Mexican drinks for the adventurous (try the Horchata, a rice-based milky drink with awesome vanilla-cinnamon goodness).
Tacotimes it isn't and don't expect everything smothered in cheap cheddar.
Only suggestions would be to add salsa bottles on each table and play some Latin music in the background!

Calle Mexico started off as a food truck (which still exists in the warmer seasons) but they've now opened up a restaurant. Their specialization is authentic Mexican food. As soon as I stepped in, I knew it was going to be authentic. I could smell the food being cooked from the kitchen. The worker (I assume owner?) communicated with a few customers in their own language, which is always a good sign. The restaurant is catered more towards take out, which explains the small size of it. There are a few small tables and seats lining the walls for eating there though. The menu offers different types of tacos, tortas, and 3 other main dishes: "the famous Calle Mexico" tostadas, enchiladas, and sopes. There's also a daily special soup and student combo special, soon to be available. For drinks, the classic Jarritos is offered, which I find is a necessity in all Mexican restaurants! It just pairs so perfectly with tacos.
