First time I've been here. Service was great and food was delicious. Only con was that it was quite noisy and hard to hear each other at our table. Appetizers were good but quite pricey for what you get. Food portions were good for the price.
Venue: clean, chic and elegant
Staff: sophisticated
Food: excellent pasta!
Dined when a girlfriend who has celiac disease. Both of us really enjoyed our meals and our experience. Will be back again.
Wow it looks like this place is either a hit or miss for people. Every time I come here I have a good experience. I like their pastas and I find the portions to be pretty big. The only thing is that it is quite pricey so I don't come here often. I tried their pizza once and I also found it good except for the price. The interior here is nice and it looks fancy. I have no complaints about the service as I've always found the servers to be friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
Stop in for dessert and place is usually packed. Had ice cream with espresso the first time here. Like sitting out on patio when weather is nice.
Happy with everthing that they provided. Food and service was great. sauce for the pasta was just right and enough. Price wise is ok for downtown. Parking is a pain in the butt. Will be back again
I've been to Sicilian Pasta Kitchen quite a few times already, and it's my favourite Italian place to go to with my boyfriend. The interior is quite nice and cozy with the small lit candle centerpiece.
The complimentary bread is a great starter, and one can never go wrong with caesar salad. The pasta is flavourful, especially the Penne Gorgonzola with shrimp, scallops and creamy sauce. Another favourite of mine is Fettucine Alfredo, which isn't on the menu but if you ask the server, they can specially make it for you. The dessert I got (I forgot which cake) was very tasty for my sweet cravings too.
It is a tad bit pricey for pasta, and I think it used to be cheaper for lunch but I'm not sure if the menu changed. I wouldn't mind spending a bit extra for some delicious pasta and a romantic date though. Still my favourite Italian restaurant in town!
Was in the area last night so I decided to drop in and try out SPK.
I really like the ambiance here. It could almost be considered a little too dark..but the atmosphere seems quiet and indeed...romantic.
The low lighting is evident in my photos!
We settled on a Rosario Pizza, and a half order of Linguini Granchio.
Pizza was great!
Pasta...was good.
Two iced teas brought the total with a 20% tip to ~$50. To be honest, I think that was a little much for an individual pizza and a half order of pasta.
Will I be back?
Maybe.
But there are plenty more offerings to sample in town before I am.
That being said...if you want a nice spot to take a significant other for a quiet night out...It is probably worth giving them a shot yourself.
I enjoyed my visit to this establishment. Our table had a couple of pastas, a pizza, a handful of appetizers, and a couple of salads. Most everything was great...especially the pastas. However, the one thing I would recommend improving is the pizza. I did not really like the crust, but really, this is all a preference.
Great place to bring a date. The veal meatballs are to die for! Ambience is great, played some good music. Service is timely and friendly. Will definitely be returning soon.
Came here for a team lunch at work. We were seated right away with a reservation. We ordered an assortment of appetizers to share, veal meatballs and calamari - both were very good. I ordered the linguine granchio and it was a generous portion and left me feeling very heavy. The pasta itself had good taste but was really oily. Overall I decent meal and I will return.
Went here with a few friends on a Friday evening. It was pretty busy when we got there. We waited not long for a table. Service was fast and friendly and the food was pretty good.
I have been dining here for years and is defiantly one of my favorite restaurants .
I love the new renovation and the new menu items the crostini are to die for !
These guys knock it out of the park !
Back in May, I went to Sicilian Pasta Kitchen (SPK) on Jasper Ave for dinner. I had been craving pasta that week and decided to try out this place again. I'd gone here once before two summers ago but didn't really enjoy it. Some of my friends really like this place though so I gave it a second chance. After all, it could've been just the pasta I ordered the first time. Well, good thing I went again because I ended up finding it delicious!
Been here a few times. I always look forward to seeing the Italian Sausage Lasagna on the specials board. The veal meatballs are a good starter. Lots of flavor and a choice of sauces gives a chance to taste many flavors in one dish.
Service has always been good. It is a little slow when there are large parties but nothing I would call poor.
Prices were a little high but with prices rising everywhere lately they are fairly reasonable now.
A superb group date night! Service on point! Awesome menu! Beautiful restaurant!
We chose SPK downtown for or
Couples night out and I was impressed! The restaurant had a warm and romantic feel, the Lightning (lightbulb) fixtures are gorgeous. We were greeted and seated promptly and the host staff were exceptionally friendly :) I couldn't decide on what to have so I indulged in a lot! I started with the Caesar salad, which in my opinion might be the best in Yeg!! Our table also shared the Crostini, Bruschetta, and Arrancini, which were also so yummy!! For my main I seen lamb with fig jam on the menu...need I say more! It was cooked a perfect medium rare...I'm coming back for this for sure! And I also had a half order of penne Gorgonzola. There were too many things on the menu I wanted to try and I'm so glad I did cause this dish alone was worth the visit. It had a generous amount of seafood like scallops and shrimp in a cream sauce, Deeeelish! A friend of mine and I shared the tiramisu and it was a nice little pick me up post dinner, not too heavy and very Italian authentic! Needless to say I left full and had a great time. Also our waitress was a gem, she was consistent with her visits to the table, filling our wine ;) and clearing away empty dishes!
All in all, we will be back. 5 Stars SPK Downtown!! See you soon!
WOW... Awesome lobster pasta, and enjoyed the wine. Generous portions and reasonably priced for what you get. We read some of the negative reviews ahead of time and were skeptical but ended up loving it.
Some of the best Mussels around!!! I think this is the same owners who used to own Il Pasticio around the corner a few years back because it tastes like the same recipe they used to have there. Highly recommend coming here for great Italian food! Decent patio in the summer too
Best Restaurant in Edmonton! Amazing Food; Great service!. Ate here on Valentine's Day and had a great meal! I've eaten there many times in the past and its always fantastic! Its always crazy busy there but I was lucky to get a reservation earlier in the week. The room is really cool and modern and the service was great. The mussels were delicious and a huge portions. We enjoyed the lamb and the salmon dishes and both these entrees were excellent. Thanks again to the owner for going out of his way to make this a special night. Told him in advance I was going to propose and he made sure our table was in a quite corner. Thanks! We will be back!!
Delizioso!. Although service can sometimes be slow, every time I have dined at SPK I have been overwhelmed by how great their food is! The arrancini, though somewhat small of a portion, is so tasty, but the tomato sauce that it is served with could use some seasoning. Favorites are the pulled pork penne and linguini granchio, but have also tried one of the panini sandwiches and the margherita pizza and have been impressed as well. The pasta stands up very well when reheated as leftovers, sauce stays on beautifully and still tastes delicious the next day (large portions so likely to have leftovers!)
Mediocre and a very classless bunch. It was my Fathers 81 birthday and a reservation was made to which we were provided 2 tables due to the size of our group. 4 seats at the second table we were given were not occupied due to a few that couldn't make it; when presented with our bill we were charged $25 extra per seat not filled. The reason we were given is because the restaurant said people were waiting at the door and could have used those seats; not once did anyone come and ask us if they could utilize the empty seats and there was 3 tables that had stayed vacant for most of our dinner. There was minimal people waiting to be seated and again, if they were so concerned about seating walk in customers, WHY WOULDN'T the establishment ask if they could take those seats from us. I am sure if we were aware that they were charging $25 per empty seat, we would have gladly obliged. The food was extremely mediocre to call themselves an authentic Italian restaurant would be a stretch but if you like what tasted like something out of a can, then by all means this is the place for you. EARLS MAKES A BETTER PLATE OF PASTA.
A high end restaurant would be smart enough to take that charge off In hopes of repeat business and are classy enough to not charge it in the first place.
Good. Came with a large party. had great service. pasta was great and so was the pizza.
I quite liked it. Aside from the fact that I was sitting at a table with paper tableclothes, and the waitress didn't stop long enough for me to ask her for utensils (so I took them off the neighbouring table) this place was actually quite good. The bruchetta wasn't awesome, something I could make at home, but it was edible. I had the seafood in tomato sauce. That was delicious. The scallops were cooked perfectly, and portion was great. I also had some of the clams in white wine sauce, unfortunetly quite a few were not open, and we were told not to eat those, so we kind of lost out on quantity, but not the quality. I'm not sure I'd go back to this place, but I am glad I got to try it.
I liked it! Service was a bit slow but the for the most part is good. Appetizers where excellent and the pasta was a good eat. It's not super high class Italian but you get good pasta for what you pay for.
We were craving pasta for a while. So glad we chose that place! The server was good and nice. I had linguine with crab, scallops, creme sauce. I also asked for shrimps. Only 3$ extra. It was DELICIOUS and the seafood cooked to perfection! My boyfriend had the chef's choice, 2 types of pasta, and it was also amazing, especially the 4 cheese ravioli.
Be sure to make a reservation. We did, but we're 20 min late (crazy friday) and had to wait a good 45 min to finally get a table.
The home made tiramisu was excellent as well.
What to say about the ambiance and decor?! Parfait. :)
So for 2 pasta dish, a good 36$ bottle of wine (Zenato) and a dessert: 130$ including tip.
We'll be back for sure
Very good Italian restaurant. We were a party of four..excellent service..very attentive. Food was also excellent..good portions and the price was right. Would definitely go back.
If you like pasta then give this place a try. Food is rich and very delicious. I've yet to have a bad experience here. Atmosphere is very nice too
Mussels are to die for. Their mussels are so good, and ordered seafood linguine which was delicious as well. Well priced too
Honestly this was probably the best Pasta I've ever had. I will be back! I had the penne with lobster and chicken and it was unreal. We also had the jumbo shrimp to start and it was delicious. You will not be dissapointed! I can't believe we hadn't gone their sooner
Went for dinner here for the first time last weekend, and it's actually pretty good. I ordered the panini primavera (vegetarian panini) and had the side Caesar salad. The portions were huge!! I got 2 decent sized paninis (honestly, I was only expecting 1 that size), and the Caesar salad was very nice. Croutons were perfectly crisp, not soft, but won't break your teeth. For dessert, had the zeppole (Italian donuts). For $7.95, you get 4 medium sized zeppole and a custard dipping sauce. The zeppole are TO DIE FOR!!! For a first time visit, I throughly enjoyed it!
Great overall experience. This place was recommended to me by a co-worker so I finally decided to try it tonight. Great ambience, amazing food, excellent service.
I was there with 9 others on a Friday around early dinner time and we were served promptly with menus and water. Ambiance, decor and menu are nice. I ordered the Rigatoni Saliccia (it comes with Italian sausage and red tomato sauce). I ordered the full size and ate half if it because it was quite filling. I packed the rest for home. The Italian sausages were crispy and thick. Overall it's a delicious dish! SPK thanks for a pleasant dinner!
To be honest, I like this place. The food is great every time I come here. The employees are very friendly. Wanted to switch from sitting at the patio to inside and it was not a problem at all. No dirty looks, no rude attitude or anything. Another positive was when asking the waitress which drink she would recommend, again a great attitude. For those who with bad experiences from this place, that is quite unfortunate. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself because I will be coming here for years to come.
This is the only Place that'll make me love pasta. I like their pasta, especially the linguini or the penne with baby lobsters! I've tried their pizzas but it's just maybe not my thing. I have to agree though the service could improve, this is the Only place where I would literally have to wave down or stop the waiter just to order.
Delicious pasta. I haven't eaten anything else but their pasta, however. My favorite is the rigatoni con salsicia. Only bad part is that they changed their menu up a bit. My boyfriend and I used to share a caeser salad between the two of us, but they took that off the menu; now it's a smaller version that doesn't really feed the two of us. But the prices for the pasta portions are fair and the pasta is always delicious.
This is our favorite go to resturant service was great today and our food was fantastic. Got to love this place!
Chicken Diavola to die for!. I don't know about their other pasta dishes but their chicken diavola is sooooo good! Must try! I go here at least every couple of months to satisfy my cravings
It wasn't that I didn't like it, but overall it didn't make me wanting more.
