Decent. Alrightš. Was expecting it to be better from what Iāve heard, but burger was still good overall. Patties are a little small/thin. But pretty good flavour.
It was very overpriced to start with, the food was nothing special and just wasnāt very good. Everything tasted like it came from the freezer except the buns which were very oversized for the burgers. There are so many build your own burger places out there that are nailing it, this one sadly isnāt.
This is for me the best burger restaurant in Edmonton, even better than the sadly-departed Rodeo Burger.Ā This is one of those restaurants that specializes in just one food item and thus keeps their menu uncluttered with other foods.Ā You go in, build your burger according to the options available in the menu, get your food, then scarf it down like a ravenously starved wolf.Ā You may repeat this process if you had nothing for breakfast that morning.Ā Alternately, if you don't want to go to the trouble of building a burger, you can just go with one of the signature burgers offered.Ā The point is: because they focus on the food item they advertise, they do it extremely well.Ā They know their business at The Burger Joint, and I feel that others should come to know it too.
Its really good. I opted to build my own burger and there was a lot of options to choose from. I also ordered the combo so I could try their curly fries and I was not disappointed. They curly fries were so good. I would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area, as it's a bit of a drive from where I live.
Awesome burger! Its rare to find a great burger in Canada since most placesĀ are not allowed to cook them rare to medium rare but this one is really good. I got the double cheese & double mushroom burger & was amazing burger was juicy & seasoned perfectly with lots of cheese & mushrooms. I got curly fries with them & they were also great. This is not the best burger in Alberta in my opinion, Clive Burger in Calgary is, but a close 2nd.
Iāve heard good things about The Burger Joint for awhile but donāt make the trek out for burgers very often. Well, well, things worked out and we went on a Saturday afternoon to check out the BJ š Great nickname eh?. Itās located in the same plaza as Loma House. The inside is small but lots of seating.
I recently visited The Burger Joint with my family. The service and the food were decent, but the restaurant felt like it was in disrepair.
We ordered burgers and found them to be pretty reasonable. Not the best burgers we've ever had (but that's an unreasonable expectation for a place like this) but certainly better than fast food burger places. The curly fries were really quite good. The service was also quite decent. They took our order as soon as we were ready and the food came out reasonably quickly.
The restaurant's disrepair is why I am rating it a little lower than I would like. The tables were stained with food and markers. The soda machine was partially out of service and did not have a water option. We had to ask for water, which they brought out from the kitchen for us.Ā
If the restaurant improves the cleanliness and upkeep of the place, I think my rating would improve considerably. As it stands, we did not enjoy our visit to the restaurant because of these issues.
Delicious burgers and curly fries, I have never been disappointed with a meal here. The patty and topping options are vast and always fresh and tasty. The only things missing for me are beets, goat cheese, and jalapeƱo cream cheese. I love the garlicky sauce served with the fries!

Come here often, have never had a bad meal. The ingredients are always fresh. Fast service. Our favourite burger place for sure. Build your own burger and try the curly fries with tartar sauce. Yum.
Very simple fast food looking seating area. Clip boards on the tables for you to check off what you would like. Minimal customer service. You go up to the counter yourself to order, this is your only contact with staff.
We choose a beef burger with cheese lettuce tomatoes ketchup pickled onions and mushrooms with fries. Second burger is grilled chicken with onions blue cheese mushroom peppers picked and onion rings. Served with curly fries.
Burgers are huge, brought to the table with 12 inch screwers holding them together. Great flavor and you really can have exactly what you want on your burger.
These guys not only offer great selection and options for their custom-made burgers, their final products are excellent. Best burgers in E-town.
Love this place! So happy there is such a great option for halal chicken burgers. The only way it could get even better is they start offering halal beef burgers as well! š
Great place to pop in for lunch or dinner on the fly. Walking through the door I expected that I would enjoy my experience from the lively atmosphere and the feel of a quality burger joint. I ordered the B.J. burger platter with curly fries to-go which was well priced for the portion size and quality. It isn't hard to please me when it comes to burgers and I felt this one met my standards. I personally enjoy my curly fries to be crispier than they were however I have no real complaints. I will definitely be going back to customize a burger in the future.
I finally made it to this place. It's tucked into the corner of a strip mall so you wouldn't see it unless you're looking for it. Once inside we were presented with a checklist for how we each like our burger š. I ordered the smallest burger with lots of toppings. It was superb! No frozen manufactured paddies here. It tasted like home made. The bonus was the price. These real burgers are cheaper than common fast food. I would have given it five stars but they don't sell coffee. I had to drive down to SEC to buy some coffee šµ and return just after the burgers arrived.
One of my favorite burger places. Their burger is very fresh and even the buns are so good. I love their curly fries. I would just go their for their curly fries. Everything is amazing about this place.
I feel like the majority of good restaurants are located far in the southside. An example would be The Burger Joint, which I consider one of my newest found "hidden gems". It's far south, right beside South Common. It's exactly what its name suggests - a burger joint! The restaurant itself is small and clean, nothing too fancy.
Really great burgers and curly fries at a reasonable price. Great list of ingredients, missing only goat cheese and beets. Highly recommended, everyone I bring here loves it.
Great burger with lots of customizable toppings. I've tried the lamb and veggie burgers. Both were really good. Nothing fancy here, a tasty meal nonetheless. Definitely not your average burger joint.

My favourite burger place in Edmonton. I love this burger joint, it's simply delicious. The Vatican and the mint chocolate milkshake is a must try! The burgers are a bit overpriced but quality over quantity.
I am so impressed by this burger joint. I am a foodie and I would give this a 2 thumbs up!!! The patties are so juicy plus I love the fact that you can create your own burger.
I am not a huge burger fan in general, but I must say I was really impressed. The BJ burger was definitely 'stacked' but what impressed me the most was the abundance and freshness of the veggies on the burger! Lettuce and tomato looked like it was just cut (which is oddly enough doesn't always happen). The curly fries were amazing!! The server was this super friendly girl and she did a super amazing job of taking orders, cleaning tables and serving people their orders! I will definitely be back to try the other signature burgers!
Burger was delicious. Thick juicy patty with a great charred flavour. Bun held up well to all the toppings and sauces. Fries were disgusting and a waste of time. Undercooked and underseasoned, with a uncooked dry potatoey texture.

Tasty, would go again. Five of us, including an 11 month old, went at lunch time. We didn't have to wait for a table but the restaurant was full. We all liked the idea of creating a fully customized burger using their checklist style menu. There's a lot of options for burger toppings. The Aussie who was with us suggested a pickled beet would have been a nice addition but overall there was ample choice. At the table we tried the lamb, chicken, and beef burgers and everyone enjoyed them. When the burgers first came out they looked dauntingly large but once you push the bun down it is a manageable sandwich. Everyone at the table finished their burger. The curly fries that came with the meal were enjoyed by all as well. For four burgers, three fries, one salad, and four drinks it was around $50 dollars. For the quality of the burger I felt it was a reasonable price overall. The one thing I would recommend is having napkin holders at each table. There is one central napkin holder at the front counter and if you don't realize this before digging in, one might find themself in a bit of a messy situation. I generally don't seek out burger places but this was worth the stop.

This place is a bit of a hidden gem. Similar to the burg but with better food, lower prices and a lot more casual. The only thing it's missing is it being licensed. Definitely will come again.
Spicy Crunch Burger. Its as advertised. Crunchy. A real spice fiend will find this extremely mild. Dont be intimidated its a great choice simply for the satisfying Crunch.

I tried the B.J. Burger and it was excellent. The combo of ingredients was delicious and well proportioned. Many places offer "gourmet burgers". Most are disappointing but this exceeded expectations.
#1 BURGER !!!. This is my favorite BURGER place in Edmonton. You can create your own burger, fresh home made 100% BEEF, fresh toppings, good price, i think its BETTER then fatburger or five guys.

I've read some of the bad reviews and those who say 5 guys burgers and fries is better have no idea what they are talking about. Yes if you haven't been before the ordering system is a little different. The owner might not be there to greet you because he's in the back making your delicious burger, not some minimum wage hack pre-making it then putting it under a heat lamp. So, find a seat and start building your ultimate burger. Then unlock your jaw for this burger will challenge even the largest mouth and the largest stomach. For only 8.99 I got the double burger and if you're even remotely near the southside why would you spend the same amount at Mcdonalds, Wendys, or anywhere else for that matter. I'm a burger person and this is the best burger I've had to date!!!! Will definitely be back!
Great place.. In my humble opinion probably the best burger place in town. Reasonably priced and excellent food. The mushroom burger with Jalapenos on it is superb.

This is it. The one and only non-restaurant burger that tastes extraordinary.. After the Rodeo Burger shenanigan I had a few weeks ago, I am relieved by something rewarding. A burger that is hot and juicy and on a toasted bun. A patty that has a substantial amount of meat and flavor. And veggies that are not slimy and overwhelming but complement the overall zen of the burger.
You can build your own burger, or if you are conservative like me, pick from their huge variety of "signature" burgers that are right on the wall near the order table. If you just hop in and look at the table menu's, all you will get is "build your own burger", so you might be confused as to what's available.
The fries were 2-3x saltier than what I normally get in fries but the burger was so good I let it slide. I wasn't even angry and I usually get lit up pretty easily... that's how happy I was with the food quality and service of this place.
Ladies and gentlemen, as much as I try not to eat meat, I love this burger joint!
P.S. When the lady asked me if I liked the BJ, I said yes, holding back any other reactions...

New review as of 2016 - I work in the area and have been to the Burger Joint countless times. Seems since I wrote in 2013 they upped their game! I build my own burger and add curly fries and a drink under $14 now. I stuff my burger with mushrooms, an onion ring, jalapenos, and multiple other fixings. I like the chipotle sauce as well. The burger is always juicy and grilled perfectly with bonus points for toasting the bun! Great flavor and at that price for customization it really can't be beat. The owner is really nice and the food is always hot and quick to pack up for me to take back to the office. Major points for being a tasty place to get a burger fix!
My previous review - On the fence. I can't decide if I like this place or not. I love cutting out the middleman, customizing your burger and heading straight for the counter. Super easy and no wait. The choice of toppings is really cool. I may have started checking almost everything off the list. I like options. You could order from the menu but I like deciding between marble cheese or mozza. Ahh...the little things. Certain items will jack your total and with a few additions plus a drink and curly fries my order came to around $14. I like the selection of seasonings for the fries even though they weren't anything special (like the ones you get from the freezer). The burger patty itself didn't have any flavor which disappointed me as I was expecting it to at least have some seasoning salt. It was pretty thin but it was big and filling which counts the most! The bun held up so at the end of the day I'd consider that a win. I'm not sure if I would go back. Tempting though....very tempting....
Awesome Burgers!!!. After seeing on urbanspoon an over 90% rating we had to try it out! It did not disappoint! We decided to go with the signature burgers rather than the build our own for the first time and they were AMAZING! Next time will definitely be building my own burger. The dill dip that comes with your French fries is really tasty and both me and my boyfriend who are big ketchup lovers on fries didn't even touch the ketchup! Overall best place in Edmonton for a burger! Hands down!

Great, Fresh Quality. This place has the most amazing burgers in Edmonton.
You can choose from a "build your own" type of burger, or from the "signature burgers" which come in a varity of interesting recipes.
We've been here on a few occassions, with four kids in tow, and have never left disappointed.
The quality of food is fantastic, the prices very competent for what you are getting. Make sure you try their curly fries.
Their presentation of food is also very good. You won't get a few sloppy burgers and overcooked fries thrown onto a plate here. Everything is well presented and prettily garnished.
The servers are quietly helpful, offering up suggestions and answering questions only when asked.
Definitely a burger favourite for our family.

Great Burgers and food but customer service needs some improvement.. We walked into this place and didn't even know who worked there. A man with his family was sitting at the table next to us and said "hi". This was our first time so we didn't really know what was going on. We didn't know if we got table service or anything so then we filled out our burger forms but didn't see anyone at the counter so we sat there. The the family next to us left and that's when we realized that the man who said hi worked there. At that time we went up to the counter and he took our order. At that time we saw a burger menu on the wall. We sat down and shortly after we received our food.
THE BURGERS WERE DELICIOUS. The curly fries and sauce were also great. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Great place to go if you like burgers. Pricing is great too. After we finished the man did ask us how are meal was.
My conclusion was that although the customer service was lacking, the food was delicious and made up for it :-). Will definitely be back!
Yum!!. We've tried both, the signature and the make-your-own burgers and both are equally tasty and fresh. The choices for the build-your-own are plenty. We will be regulars here!!
YUM!. Went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and we've already been back on 2 separate occasions with friends and family. Everyone so far has loved their meals. I am totally in love with the Double Cheese Double Mushroom burger (take out swiss & jalapenos and sub with jalapeno cheese instead - PERFECT!) but I might try something new next time. Jerk Chicken sounds tempting!
LOVED my burger at the burger joint! Had the hot jerk chicken. It wasn't too spicy, but tons of flavor. Everything was so fresh and it seems they use quality ingredients. The mayo they serve with fries is fantastic. Will definitely be back!

Surprised. The last couple times leaving South Common, this little sign off to the side kept grabbing my attention...mainly cuz it had the word Burger in it's title :) Finally decided to take the plunge and try this little place out...man, what a diamond in the rough. Very similar build your own burger style to Fulton in Sherwood Park but I would honestly give the edge to BJ. Ended up trying something different with a donair burger (put on lettuce, garlic donair sauce & pickles)...awesome stuff. Some burger places have good burgers but lose it on the buns...I love the buns with these burgers though. Will definitely be back...location is a little weird to get too but we felt it was worth it and will definitely be back.

GREAT Burgers AND Fries Too. As much as I really like these burgers, their fries & aoili are very well prepared & tasty. My only challenge would be for them to use local, fresher, better tasting tomatoes. They spend the time & money to buy great/fresh buns & beef, why not go to the markets and buy local tomatoes from Gull Valley or Doef's?

Excellent Burgers!. My wife and I visited on a Saturday afternoon. I'm the burger fan in the family, and she's the one who is quite particular about what she'll eat as a burger.
She loved the idea of being able to specify your own toppings, and that the grilled chicken was an actual piece of grilled chicken breast (as opposed to a chicken patty). I tried a regular all beef burger. We also had an order of each of the regular and curly fries.
One of my wife's complaints about burgers is that many places use a bun that doesn't hold up to toppings well, and she just hates it when the burger bun falls apart before you are finished. This was definitely NOT the case here. The bun was a huge factor in her enjoyment of her burger.
She actually stated that this was one of the best chicken burgers she has ever had and really enjoyed the blue cheese sauce on it. Her other toppings were tasty and fresh also.
Mine was a thin patty which was cooked on a flat top, and was nicely "crustified", something I really like. It was still juicy too.
If anything was a bit pedestrian, it was the fries, but they were still well within the acceptable range. The tartar sauce was tasty but could use a little tweaking too, like say adding some chopped pickle, but again, still good.
The place was a nice looking little shop, kept very clean, and the service was quick and friendly. A definite "add to my list" place!
Thatās a Tasty Burger!. I took my daughter here after her soccer game this weekend. Nice little place off of 23rd Ave. Nothing to crazy about the atmosphere pretty plain actually. My daughter loved how she got to fill out an order checklist to make her very own burger creation. Good selection of burger patty sizes and meat choices. She inhaled a 7oz beef burger with Bacon, cheddar burger with mustard and a mini fryer basket of fries (no really check out the pictures). I had a 7oz beef burger with bacon, Jalapeno Jack, Bleu cheese dressing, lettuce pickles and jalapenos. Both burgers were cooked to perfection on a nicely grilled bun. This burger wonāt change your life but it far superior over a QSR. We will be back.

The options are unlimited with toppings as well as protein. The service was great as well! I found the beef to be a little dry compared to similarly priced burgers from other places. The fries were amazing, specially the homemade tartar sauce. Overall, I enjoyed the experience!
One of the best burgers Iāve had in Edmonton. It was my first time there and I liked how simple it was to craft your own burger (they also had presets to choose too). I craved a mushroom burger and picked a double beef patty, Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, sweet sauce, and fresh lettuce. Needless to say each item exceeded my expectations!
Really good burger! Love the charbroiled taste and lovely attention to detail on assembling the burger. Love the no limit choices of toppings including chipotle and honey garlic sauces, carrot strings, roasted corn, coleslaw. The bun is the right size! Not like some places where thereās more bun than burger. Love the aioli dip for fries and fried cauliflower. Nom!

I got a double beef patty burger with cheddar, red onion, pickles, onion rings, tomato, mayo, and ketchup. Good lord, it was gooooood. The burger was extremely juicy but not too messy and tastes great. The curly fries for my side were crispy and delicious, if a tad on the less salty side. Nothing some extra seasoning salt at the counter can't fix. The aioli that came courtesy of the fries was excellent as well. All in all, I'd come again in a heartbeat š„
