Great service. Sorry I don't remember the cashier's name but he's awesome, sorry man. Delicious food thank you..

Bought some meat pies. The bottom row was all burnt. Shameful that they hide their burned pies in the bottom of the tray. Quality down at this place. Will look for a better bakery next time.

Haven't been here for over a year; but was really craving the chicken shawarma wrapped in saj and the chicken veggie melt today. Let me tell you, nothing has changed. In fact, I think the chicken shawarma is even better than before... to date it's the best I've had in town. Love this place... so happy a friend brought me here many years ago. I will be back soon.

Amazing food and great fresh pita bread. Best markets in town. Try the chicken shawarma.. amazing. Also the spinach and cheese is out of this world

Sunbake bakery serves amazing pitas veg as well as non-veg. They also have a section of pop and other non-alcoholic beverages. With a section for assorted roasted dry fruits ,baklava & other Lebanese delicacies.
.
.
I crave for the pitas from Sunbake bakery. The zaatar cheese pita is my most favourite of all the veggie options available.
Also, the buttermilk they sell is best in town.
.
.

Everyone raves about this place. I almost feel God-like by being here. The service is OK. People are pretty friendly. The chicken shawarma can taste kind of dry but the awesome garlic paste keeps it lively. The pickles can be strong but if you like sour and salty foods this would be right up your alley. I didn't find the beef pita that tasty in comparison to the garlic paste chicken shawarma but it can serve as a palate cleanser. The pitas seem pricey here but the taste and portions make up for it. I like this place but I definitely wouldn't rave about it as much as the other reviewers have. Whatever the occasion, be sure to pick up the ~$2 bag of pitas because I think that's real tasty and presents good value.

My favourite place for meat and cheese pies. Actually everything they have here is good my favourite is meat and cheese and also the spinach
They are always friendly

Chicken and Cheese Manakeesh, Spinach Cheese Pie and Chicken Shawarma Saj

Found the new GOAT in the Edmonton Shawarma game. First, let’s start with the Chicken/Cheese Manakeesh, this thing was so dope. Covered in cheese from end to end and had good chunks of chicken all over it, this thing had some spice to it and reminded me of a buffalo chicken wing. Wings are good! This is good! Lot of vegetarian options here and the Spinach Cheese Pie was one of them. Served up on the same thin and crispy pita as the before, this thing packed in the deliciousness. Now the main event here is the Chicken shawarma in saj bread, this thing was so good. Don’t get the regular pita, the saj bread is thinner allowing for less barrier between you and the good stuff inside the shawarma. The shawarma had all the regular ingredients but shoutout to the best one, pickled turnips, you’re the real mvp.

Located in North Edmonton, you can't afford not to go here. Service is fast, friendly and it’s super cheap, the pita was 5 bucks.

Sal says: Just Eat It

@adubalicious says: Can't believe it's only 5 dollars. Spinach was nicely marinated in a lemon sauce. Delicious and low in sodium. Good for you.

#yeg #yegfood #food #foodie #foodporn #foodgasm #foodpics #foodstagram #instafood #delicious #hungry #yummy #dinner #lunch

Being Lebanese, my family often visits Sunbake Pita Bakery for fresh baked goods. Almost every time we go there, no matter what day or time, there is always a line-up. The food is fantastic, wonderful and fresh. There are meat and vegetarian options. Despite the line, service is quick and friendly. Seating is limited so you consider taking it to go. My favorites include the zatar and cheese pie and fatyer. I also love the mini zatars to-go.

One of Edmonton's hidden gems. The food is fresh, reasonably priced and consistently delicious. They have a variety of fatayer, pies and shawarma wraps. My favorite is the Zatar and cheese pie. My brother and boyfriend love the chicken shawarma wrap. If you are lucky to get there early enough the mini Zatar pies are perfect for breakfast on the go and will last about a week. It is usually pretty busy, and once you've eaten there you'll know why. Despite the crowds, the line-up moves pretty fast and the service is friendly. There are a few spots to sit and eat, we usually take ours to go.

Great variety, fast service, and delicious Zatar wraps and fatayers. They have ridiculously fast service here which is great if you're feeling quite hangry. I really loved their Zatar deluxe pita as a lunchtime treat. I'll need to come back and try more of their Pitas!

Excellent little Arab bakery/deli.
Located in a nondescript strip mall in northwest Edmonton, this is the place that supplies all those pitas across supermarkets in town. Guess what? You can pick them up right here, at a lower price and fresh to boot.
But the real attraction are the pies (think thin crust healthier pizza on pitas)! These come in a range of flavours, with cheese, zaatar (a spice mix), chicken or ground meat as topping and make for a tasty lunch for 4-5 bucks. There are also a variety of unusual soft drinks (local and Middle-Eastern) as well as fresh-roasted nuts (try the cashews with reddish salty/sweet spices) and meat pies to take home.
The staff are friendly and quite patient with newbies too.
All in all, a great find and plan to visit again!!

Favorite place to go to in Edmonton for fatayers. Their shawarmas are also delicious. I would recommend the cheese and spinach fatayers from here.

Shawarma was awesome- best I've had since coming to Alberta/ I'll be back for sure. Good prices, storefront isn't much to look at, but I wouldn't that dissuade me/ you :)

I absolutely love this place. We have been coming here for 20 years and we know everybody very well now! And it's always nice to have friendly people greet you and ask how you've been since we visited last. It's our secret spot and we always buy the food here for or events at home.

I'm so glad I visited this hidden gem on the northside! I've passed by Sunbake Pita Bakery countless amounts of time when I used to take the bus since it would always pass by it on the way to WEM from Northgate but never really payed attention. It's a little Lebanese food shop selling fresh pitas, pies (think Lebanese pizzas), shawarmas, nuts, and fatayers! Everything is super cheap as well and fills you up...

Best food ever! Fresh out of the oven!
Can not go wrong!
Anyone with any palette will love the food guaranteed!

Never thought I would find a shawmara place like my fav in Toronto but this place 100% awesome after so many Edmonton failed attempts!! Loved it!

Fantastic Food. The food is consistently delicious and well priced. The rude and dismissive guy manning the cash register is the only negative aspect about this little Northside gem; the fantastic food definitely trumps the huge jerk taking my order and money.

Yum Yum Yum!!!. Our boss went to Sunbake and picked us all up a nice variety of stuff for lunch. Man oh man was it all soooo good.
Fresh, Homemade and absolutely delicious. Thumbs up! 5/5 Best pitas in Edmonton or anywhere I have ever tasted for that matter! I'm hooked

Can't get fresher that this. Service is a spotty but friendly. Store was a bit disorganized but mostly clean.

Order at the cashier, that part was a bit unclear for a first timer.

The potato was oddly addictive. the sheds where barely cooked, still a bit on the firm side with a lemony touch. If you don't like Greek style lemon roast potatoes, you will not like this.

The kafta, ground lamb, was tasty and tender, not grainy.

The fresh toasted nuts are awesome!

Like one reviewed siad, its a solid meal.

Their pies are amazing. I always make sure to get the akawi cheese pie (heavenly). Their meat pies are good too but ALWAYS ask them to make them fresh, do t take stuff off the counter. Their chicken shawarma pie is good but needs more flavor. Friendly staff and good service.

Once awhile, I like to come here for a pita with toppings. Today, I tried a Chicken & Vege Melt, only $4.99. It is so fresh, great flavor, love it. When I am tire of Vietnamese noodles, then I come here. Friendly staffs. Lots of parking. You can do take our too.

Best place to have a solid breakfast!

Chicken Shawarma. Best pitas you will find in Edmonton. Lots of tasty filling in crispy pita. While it is definitely not the place to go for ambience (only a few stools along a counter) it is great for a quick bite of take out. I do like spicey garlic sauce so if they offered that as an option on the shawarma it would be the absolute best in Edmonton.

I don't like this place bad service and disrespect owners.

February 2013 Visit. Sunbake Pita Bakery has amazing chicken Shawarma. It comes wrapped up in a pita or saj wrap with pickles, turnip, and garlic sauce. It doesn't need anything else. Every ingredient in the shawarma is perfectly seasoned with plenty of flavour. The portions are generous and more than fair for the price.

The staff are very sincere and we have had good service at each visit. We will be going back frequently.

Bad service. After reading all the positive reviews i was very excited to check out this place.
The service was non-existent, the guy at the counter i am assuming the owner was chatting with another man. He didn't even acknowledge us. Didn't even say hello or anything. So we stood there. Waited until they finished. I guess i was already disappointed at that point. I felt like he was doing us a favor.

We ordered chicken shawarma and it did not have any veggies except for pickled beets/ turnip. Its just meat and bread. Which i did not enjoy.

If you are looking for a quick bite this might be the place for you. I just expected something else.

I go there almost every Sunday and I have been going consistently for the last 4 years. The food is great and filling. I highly recommend the cheese akawi flat bread.

Tasty. Pita pies are the best here. Will come back again

Great Place. Yeah I live in Edmonton as well and my friends parents own the place. They recently have also opened a restaurant called Mashawee a couple of years back so if your looking for an awesome place for dinner with the same taste and style as sunbake then you should really check it out.

Speechless! Awesome place to try some Lebanese food. I'm glad I don't live to far from it. I would have it everyday

Yummmmm!. Everytime we are on that side of the city it's a certainty that we are going to eat here. The garlic sauce on the shwarma is sooooo Gooood! Ask for extra!

AWESOME!!. I live 300 miles away from Edmonton. I make it a point to stop by to have the chicken shawarma because it really is that good! And the service is always fast and friendly too!

Terrific eastern mediterranean fast food. Great assortment of seasoned nuts for sale. Hummus also sold here. Pita bread baked on-site. Highly recommended for those who want to try middle eastern fast good.

Scrumptious!. The Sunbake Pita chicken shawarma is the closest to the real thing (as in Lebanon or Kuwait or Dubai) that I have found in Edmonton. Real saj bread and not a whole pita wrapped around everything found in the cupboard.

Best shawarma in the city. Can't beat it!! La shish can't even compare!

So two co-workers and I were heading over to check out Mona’s Pizza & Donair when I spotted Sunbake Pita Bakery on the way. I remembered hearing good things about Sunbake and knew that they are the pita kings in Edmonton so I convinced my co-workers to check out this place instead. We went on a Tuesday for lunch and the place was bustling the whole time that we were there. Assortment of nuts All you need to know is order at the counter once you’ve made your decision. Lots of interesting choices to choose from – lebanese mini pies (pizzas if you will), shawarma, roasted nuts, baklava, fatayers and of course, their infamous pitas (which people were buying in bulk). The nuts looked so fresh and delicious but couldn’t convince my co-workers to get some. Next time! Anyways, we ordered and shared: – Chicken shawarma ($8.99 for large, $7.99 for regular) – regular was good enough for my one co-worker and my other co-worker and I shared the large (asked for it to be cut in half). The first

Sunbake Pita Bakery is a family run business that bakes great, inexpensive pitas (some 3,500 an hour). They’re so fresh I can still see condensation in the bags they’re sold in. Behind the counter, Sunbake also makes (mostly takeout) little meals like cheese, spinach or zatar pita pies for the ridiculous price of about $3. For a few bucks more, I get a heftier shawarma loaded with chicken sliced from a rotating spit.

I’ve been eating fatayers, an Arab meat pie, from Sunbake Pita Bakery since I was a teenager. I most definitely took it for granted, not knowing where exactly it came from since my mom always picked up a bag whenever our freezer ran out. As a recent graduate, working without a solid break in the pharmacy gets tough, and heating these little pies up and eating it within two to three bites is always a win for me, and it quickly became one of my favorite quick meals. Last week my mom wasn’t feeling well, so I was absolutely delighted to go pick some up in her stead. Located on 134 Ave and 107 St, it was only a five-minute drive from my house. Ridiculously close to most north Edmontonians. You know how cops are outside of Tim Hortons, grabbing a coffee or donut to go? Well, taxi drivers are here grabbing donairs and pies to go!

Still the best in city for meat, cheese pies and fatayers... Little pockets of tasty goodness!
