Review Cactus Club Cafe Jasper Ave - Edmonton

Marjorie Marshall
So this was my first time there. We had a great hostess who gave us the run down on what we asked about. Myb2 friends and I really enjoyed our food. The tacos were great, the truffle fries done very well. My friend really liked her ravioli and said she could eat another plate. The sushi my vegetarian friend had was good also. Now if you go on a Friday or Saturday evening say around 7:30 like we did, I recommend sitting on the covered patio. It's quieter and you can hear your conversations. The inside can be loud and is a total pick up /be scene joint. If your single and you need a new venue this is it. We just stopped in for food prior to going to 9910. Great place overall.

Wonderful meal for family and friends, whether casual or formal. Drinks were good but the star beverage of the night was the Caesar. Incredibly flavourful meals with chicken that melts in your mouth and a steak that is perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The white chocolate cheesecake with raspberry compote is also a must try dish. Staff was also very friendly and accommodating, will definitely come back!

Love eating and being there. Always great food and atmosphere. Front desk, servers, expo, management, kitchen staff- great job- you always make us feel welcomed. Food is delicious, drinks are sophisticated and well balanced. Will go back any time

Completely forgot the prawn crunch rolls from the order, you can see that they did not cross it off from the receipt but they still sent the order to us. Extra two stars because the other food was good but my daughter was really disappointed since the main thing she wanted was the sushi. I wish they would double check the order is complete before sending it out.

My kids booked a table for my husband and I to celebrate our 21st anniversary tonight, food was ok, but I didn’t like the place at all. The music was so loud, and it was too hot inside so stayed only less than an hour. I left with headache from very loud music. The service was good though, I believe the waitress’s name was “Natasia” if I’m not mistaken; she’s really friendly. The place might be attractive to some people but definitely not my style. I loved the WEM location way more, even their food is much better quality.

Visited this spot for a date last week and was absolutely dissatisfied with the service provided by the whole entire staff working that night! I called before hand to make a reservation and was told they only do it online, I was driving and asked to speak to someone who can do it over phone, they refused. I understand and that wasn’t even a big problem. I eventually made the reservation online, upon arriving they were super busy which is understandable again given the holiday weekend. However after engaging with my server I expressed to her that I was fasting all day and I really wanted to place my order as soon as possible. She said she understood but then after bringing the drinks to my table she literally came back 15 minutes later after fully acknowledging my situation. I complained about the table to one of managers working because it was super small and it was wobbling but they said they couldn’t seat us anywhere else! I regret ordering the most expensive steaks from the menu because everything was super average and sub par. I didn’t enjoy my experience for one second and don’t think I ever visit this location of Cactus club ever again.

Abby was our waitress, She was great. We had a great time! Diandra was our hostess (i hope i got that right lol). They were both fantastic and courteous and very friendly. Foos was delicious. Recommendations on point. Great work!

So I'm a stay at home mom, and we definitely don't get out for more then neighborhood food that often. This was a really nice experience. Our food was amazing and the atmosphere good. Pricey for us, but seemed fair value for what we recieved. I also like the diversity, my hamburger loving husband was pleased and I go to eat delicious sushi which was a treat! My only complaint would be that it was cold in there. Several tables were wearing their jackets and we were seated along a window which added to the chill.

I love Cactus Club Cafe <3 My most recent experience was fantastic at Cactus Club Jasper Ave! I got a table on the patio for my Birthday dinner :) The food was so good. And our server, Josh, was the best server I have ever had! I highly recommend it.

We went for our anniversary dinner. The food was good, we both ordered the steak. Very Good , but certainly not worth the 45$ for small steak and 4 sprigs of asperegus and side of fries. The fish tacos that were on special for 3$ were fantastic!!. I should have just ordered a ton of those. And the atmosphere was a little odd. Huge TV's in the restaurant, so everyone's focus was on the hockey game. So the ambience was that of a sports bar. They did bring us an "anniversary dessert" so they get point for trying to make us feel special. Overall, wasn't a bad experience, just wasn't the best. I would go back with friends, but not for a special occasion.

Usually I love Cactus Club. But last night on Jasper Ave. was TERRIBLE. We were a party of 5 and had to wait over an hour for a table. Which would be fine except for the constant stream of people coming in and getting a table ahead of us!!! We are still customers. The hostess could have offered us a drink or in ANY way provided customer service. Finally we were at the top of the list and the server said ‘we are just trying to find a table for your size’. And still we waited. We just left. So angry by that point that no amount of drinks or food would make up for it. It’s simply not worth waiting for!!! And as we walked by there were THREE open tables that would fit us! We went to Local. Was fabulous. I recommend. If you do want a table fast. The recommended attire is full body suits with spanx underneath, that seems to be the golden ticket. (Gross)

The autmosphere was fab, the food was delicious but our server lacked personality and was not into serving us. Plunked not placed my drink spilling it and placing my hot dish to the side of me in which I had to slide it in front of me. My son chose to go there for his 20th B-day.

We went on a very busy night (Saturday night Family Day weekend & also Garth Brooks concert night) and did not have a reservation. Hostesses were friendly and polite. Con - there is not enough seating space for people waiting for a table. Pro - even though they were packed, we only had to wait about 20 mins; oh and while you're waiting for a table, a waitress comes around to take drink orders. Our waiter was very friendly, answered all our questions and was prompt at getting back to the table. They make a FABULOUS lime Margarita, although there domestic beer selection left something to be desired. Food was very good with reasonable size portions. We had the calamari starter, jambalaya, baja fish tacos and truffle fries.......and left extremely stuffed. We will be back!

Excellent service, staff is really friendly. The menu is great, lots to choose from. A great spot for lunch or in the evening for dinner. :)

I’m writing this as I am still here because it’s so bad. Slowest service ever. Got my food before I even got water, and I had to ask for cutlery and only got a fork lol

The service is Top shelf. Absolutely amazing food , lively atmosphere and best Patio in the city!!! Hands down Edmontons best spot!!

Went for happy hour. It was awesome, we tried everything on the happy hour menu. The fish tacos were the best I've had yet. Great drinks as well.

My favourite go to place! Everytime (which has been many) we go we have above average service, fantastic food and doesn't break the bank! We even showed up with a group of ten with no reservations last Saturday evening and they were extremely accommodating even though they were very busy. Love love love this place
Tammy Lynn Waltenbury
Dirty wine glass's server asked if we wanted a new bottle? No please pour the wine from my dirty glass into a clean one! Nothing said from two floor managers who literally stood beside our both picking their finger nails!! Nice!!!

Cactus club is recognized for its high end customer service and presentation. Unfortunately the Jasper Ave branch does not hold up thus reputation. I spent 1/2 hr waiting for takeaway dessert where as on most days I've called it in to find it ready in 10 minutes. Service at Cactus Club jasper ave has definitely depreciated. Upon questioning the manager on this delay I was informed that it had only been 10 minutes. I wanted to shove the phone in her face showing the check in status then question her whether it was really important that it was 10 mins or 1/2 hr. They point was that there was a wait... The worst way to tackle it is question the customer which our intelligent manager did. After all this she presented me with a melted dessert in a plastic bag without cutlery. Being used to the elaborate cactus club bag I didn't know whether to laugh or get frustrated at this ignorance. Needless to say I have had better service at fast food joints.

Normally I love going to this location as they have great Sangria and I've never had bad service. I went there for my 24th birthday on Thursdays and it wasn't great, the drink had a crazy amount of berries when I brought to the waitresses attention she happily replaced it which was great but when I ordered another one same thing way way to many berries. I'm sorry but I wanted sangria not a smoothie...it definitely makes me second guess going there.

Went here with my friend during Happy Hour and it was great. Good food and service.
Connor Mcnugget
You likely are going to this place to hang out with friends drink beer and socialize. The food is average, but the servers are above average if you know what I mean;) seriously, though this place is not bad for a Friday night.
Markus Lang
atmopshere is great. The blacken creole chicken is one of the chicken dishes I've tasted. really enjoyed the whole experience. It can get a bit pricey but the food is defiantly worth it.

Having just visited this location for our second time in about 2 months I was excited for a evening of good food and and good drinks. Our first visit was excellent with great service and great food.

We came on a Saturday night for our first and second visits. First visit was amazing and is what made us decide on a second visit. The second visit started off great with us arriving around 7pm and being seated on the enclosed patio that is heated during the winter months. We proceeded to start with a couple of drinks and a what appeared to be a very friendly and happy server. A short time later we ordered our food and another round of beverages, again with no issue. Food arrived in a timely matter for as busy as it appeared to be and was great with the slight exception that my steak came more rare then medium rare but I let it go and it was still very good.

After dinner we decided we would stay for a while and chat while having more beverages. All was well until later in the evening when our once friendly server seemed to become flustered and rather short and also less attentive even though the resturant had slowed down from its earlier rush. Finally as it approached us ending our visit our server approached us to either clear up our bill or move inside as the patio area was being closed. This was fine to us as we understood she needed to clean her area and we agreed to move inside as we still had drinks to finish. We moved inside and she became even more "annoyed" looking and even more short with us even though we were being completely polite the entire time. We had been barely seated inside to finish and order a couple of more drinks when she approached us with debit/credit machine in hand and "politely" asked us to clear up our bill which we did without further hesitation. After which point she proceeded to ignore us for the rest of the evening even though she had seated us in someone elses section inside and explained the other server would be taking care of us earlier.

Ultimately the service on this visit was poor in the end and we were both made to feel like "time was up" earlier in the evening the we expected. No matter how great the food was and drinks the level of service experienced in the end left us both saying we likely would not return. If your spending nearly $300 including tip for two people your service level should remain impeccable.

Sadly this leaves us with no choice but to rate the Cactus Club on Jasper ave with a 3 after once rating it a 5 a short time ago.

Likely will not return to this location.

Great service and atmosphere. The music was a bit too loud, we had to scream to hear each other though. Their chicken sandwich was mediocre, their mini burgers were pretty good but the lettuce wraps were the best!!! I don’t even usually like peanut flavor but these were amazing.
Eating In YEG
📍@cactusclubcafe | IT’S PATIO SEASON!
@eatwithshar0n and I went to try their NEW menu item: Crispy Tofu Bowl! Just like everything else we ordered, it was delicious 🤤. The food during Happy Hour is actually so affordable (excludes the tofu bowl)!!!!
-
1) Crispy Tofu Bowl 🍚
2) Butternut Squash Ravioli with Prawns Duo 🦐
3) Truffle Fries 🍟
4) Tuna Stack 🐟

This is the only chain restaurant I would take the time to review. Everything I’ve ever had here has been delicious and of higher than expected quality. Try the spaghetti with Kobe meatballs or any of the salads!

Drinks at the cactus club. Service is fab. Quick and friendly and attentive all night. It is happy hour so $4.00 glasses of wine. Very affordable/ high value break with friends. Club is a clean and A bit on the loud side.
Note* Bathrooms have black and white movies playing in the stales ?

Was here yesterday at 6 and got a table for two right away, service was good and food was good, got a Bellini and another daiquiri ( Bellini was good but daiquiri was too sweet ) but can’t remember the name, got the calamari and truffle fries for an appetizer to share, and main meal I got the fish taco with butternut squash soup, everything was delicious. I will be back during the week but not on weekends due to previous experience my friends and I had to leave because it was too packed and they had no tables left .

Went during Happy Hour on a Friday with my boyfriend and 2 friends and had excellent service on the patio. The Happy Hour specials are some of the best in the city - $3 chicken and beef sliders and truffle fries and $4 bellinis and froses (a frozen rose slushy drink). We'll definitely be back!

It's always fun going here with a group of people (3+). My most recent visit was for my friend's birthday which we had reservation for. There was no problem there. I had spoken with the manager (I'm guessing) and told her that we were there to celebrate my friend's birthday so they gave her a muff dive and 3 shots on the house. That was very generous of them!
What I got was the jambalaya rice bowl and frosé. The jambalaya rice bowl is probably the best bang for your buck at Cactus. Everything on the menu is quite pricey. The jambalaya was ~$18 and was very filling! It had a lot of toppings (meat & veggies) and the flavour was pretty good too. The frosé tasted good - it's a slush cocktail which tasted predominantly of wine. It comes with a mint leaf which makes the drink taste better if you crush it into the drink. I've had sips of my friends' drinks as well. Nothing But Pink tastes really sweet, the flirtini is quite strong, and the bellini was really peachy.
Service wasn't bad. Because we were a big group it kinda made sense that they wanted to give us a little more time to go over the menu. The food came out of the kitchen pretty quick so there's no complaints about that.
The only downside is really the pricing. It's probably better to go for happy hour because most of their drinks are half priced and the menu looks like it's good value. I would be back for that.

Thats wat you call an perfect place!!

It was my birthday and i chose my dinner to be at Cactus Club...the hospitality from the time you enter till you leave is just amazing.

I can say its a good place for vegetarians too as they do have a veg menu and i chose an mascarpone ravioli and it was so delicious as i wanted more and more and the a modern bowl salad which like had every different taste of salad i can imagine and the portion was so good that it made me full and ofcourse the burger my husband had was really juicy .

Drinks and deserts are also like above the mark of good ..loved all bits of it!!

Will be dre again soon🤗

Perfect for happy hour! In the summer, in the winter, during the day or after 9pm. Must try their truffle fries! Their tuna tartar and beef carpaccio is also highly recommend.

I used to love coming here but lately the service has been very inconsistent. They usually have quite a few hosts/hostesses but it seems at though every time I come here I never get acknowledged whenever I walk in. They seem to always be looking away so you need to approach them.

The last time I ate here, my friend and I literally had no idea who our server was... we had maybe 5 different people come to our table?

It's always a hit or miss here. You either get very prompt service or no service. I'll most likely try to avoid this place from now on. I really only like coming here if I'm planning to go out since they are open late and have a good drink selection. Food is good but not worth the service.

Overall pretty good food. The decor is amazing. I would definitely recommend visiting on a Sunday. They have all night happy hour specials which makes their drinks and food a super good deal. My only issue is that the food was extremely salty.

After a solid 4 hours of Pokemon Go, getting wasted at Cactus Club seemed like the only choice. The Tuna Stack is really tasty. It has ocean wise albacore, citrus tamari vinaigrette, nori, sesame, avocado, micro cilantro and a side plate of wonton chips. I could eat this all day errrrday. Meatball duo is an obvious choice for the low carb diet I need. Eating them reminds me of the meatballs on the Spaghettini with the truffle mushroom cream. Dammmmmn, that truffle spaghettini is definitely the move also. That fish was probably salmon and was probably ok, I don’t know cause I was enjoying the tuna stack too much to care. Not pictured here is the multiple amounts of peach bellinis we had. Slush and alcohol, who knew it was such a good pairing for meatballs?

Located on Jasper and 111 st, this place is always so good. Service here is always great here, one time I came here all hungover and needed a mimosa. They didn’t have it on the drink menu but made it anyways. This is the obvious choice to go when deciding over the usual earls or joeys type of restaurant, It also helps that the waitresses always look like they are IG models.

Sal says: Just eat it

#yegeats #yeg #food #foodie #foodporn #instafood #delicious #yummy #lunch #cactusclub

Definitely one of the places to go to with friends to have a meal, chill and chat. Plus its kids friendly too at the dining. Awesome servers

Beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon, dropped by Cactus Club to sit on the patio and enjoy drinks and appetizers. Luckily there were at least 7 empty tables on the patios and only 3 small groups ahead of us (3) so expected to be seated fairly soon. Lots of wait staff, but we waited for 25+ minutes, no one was seated and no updates from hostess or any other staff. Hostess couldn't give us an estimated time that one of the 7 open tables could be used. We left and enjoyed prompt, friendly service on the patio at Original Joe's in St. Albert.

Although a little bit pricey, Cactus Club always has excellent food and the environment is classy and fun. Beef carpaccio is by far my favourite dish
Foodie-ness89
I have been to this restaurant several times and it never disappoints! Food, drinks and service are always on par. The one evening I came in with my boyfriend I thought we would have a long wait but the manager personally escorted us to a table in the lounge and he also took our drink orders which I was very pleased about. The venue is classy and the atmosphere is welcoming. Really enjoyed the cohiba and the brazilian cocktails as well as the peach bellinis! The butternut squash ravioli was delicious and I enjoyed their double braised hoisin pork short ribs, it's one of my favourite dishes! I have also tried the BBQ'd duck clubhouse and raincoast green salad which were both delicious. But my favourite main entree by far was the Rob's Hunter chicken topped with a mushroom demi-glacé accompanied by sides of yukon gold potatoes and green beans. It was recommended by the waiter and I wanted to lick my plate after it was that good! My only complaint I do have is that the portain sizes are a bit small for the price. But that won't stop me from continuing to come back! Love this restaurant!

Venue: Really nice venue -Clean and the tables have an intimate vibe. Restrooms are luxurious in comparison to your typical restaurant restrooms as well.
Staff: Friendly and attentive. It was pretty busy in there but we were seated right away.
Food and Drink: We were really happy with our Entrées. I ordered the Double-Braised Pineapple Hoisin Short Rib and my date ordered the Cheddar Bacon Burger. The food was excellent.

DESSERT: This certainly was the highlight of our experience! We shared the Peanut Butter Crunch Bar - Hands down one of the most delicious desserts I have had dinning out!

The only area this restaurant lost points in my opinion was in their portion sizes. They were a little small for the price-point. The dessert for example, definitely could have used a bigger scoop of ice cream.
Esssss
Worst worst service... forced 20% tip the service was crap. The server forgot a lot of things specially our appetizers and still charged us.. we had our appetizers as our dessert. We come here for staff meetings business meetings, birthday celebrations but never ever again.. you need more than a beautiful face and beautiful body to be an amazing server..

Was here last year for a family dinner before her wedding day the day after. We got a private room and our server was amazing. He was really helpful and funny too! Took some pictures for us as well. Everything went really well and the food was really good. I ordered the beef carpaccio to start and the butternut squash ravioli with prawns for my main. Would definitely come back to this location.

I have never been humiliated as much as I have been at this restaurant. First off, I frequently visit this location because I think the food is great, the atmosphere is amazing and I always have a great time with my friends. This past Saturday, I was treated like a criminal, accused of doing something I don't do, and kicked out with my whole crew. It was six of us having dinner and drinks. Weren't loud or anything like that.... a mature crowd having a great time. I had to step out to the wash room to do my business , the stand-up toilets were taken so I had to go into a stall. I was in there for a short time while the security guard started banging on my door telling me "I see what you did , you can't do that here, this is a family restaurant and i will need you all to leave". When I asked what he was referring to he told me that through a crack he saw me doing cocaine with a five dollar bill. I was shocked because I have no idea HOW he saw into the stall (there was no crack), I did not have a five dollar bill on me, needless to say I don't do drugs. I work up north out of town and drug test is a mandatory requirement at my job. I could even come bring Cactus a copy of my drug test results. Would I waste my time after paying a bill of $128 (alone out of 6 ppl)? probably NOT! I'm not sure if this was a racial matter but it sure made me feel like it. We all left when they asked because we didn't want to cause any problems but my girlfriend did contact the general manager of this location who did not apologize for their accusation but yet had the guts to tell me that he is going to take the word of his long term employees (manager and security guard). Again, only the security guard "saw" me but the gm is telling me that his employee (the other manager) AND the security guard both saw me. So yeah, not a pleasant experience from the staff. The place is awesome , and the food is amazing....I really wish that the management was better too , better yet the security guard. Friendly advice; if you're a man try not to use the stall to do your thing you might be the next victim.

To the great staff of Cactus club who decided to accuse me of something I didn't do and kick me and my group out I hope the next person you accuse will handle the situation as calm as I have.
Jessie
I always go fo the butternut squash ravioli, with truffle butter, prawns and crispy sage. They are so delicious. Most things I've tried were good, except the calamari, they are missing something. Always loud and very busy. If you want a more relax evening go for the dining room. For a drink the lounge is good and staff not bad to look at. ;)

I've eaten at the Cactus Club many times, but this time was the best. Obviously the food was good, like usual, but our server Stephan was the best part. He was great with my boyfriend's young daughter, awesome suggestions, always checked up on us at the perfect times. I'm a server so I'm very particular! Thanks Stephan you were the bomb!

Great start with excellently cooked and well seasoned calamari, tasty and well balanced rocket salad and beef carpaccio, but hit and miss with entrees as kitchen too busy and over Cajun spiced a lot of dishes, making them way too overly spicy to eat without multiple glasses of water - had several gf's that love insane amounts of spicy and have eaten at Cactus Club before -even they thought some dishes were unintentionally overly spiced with only one flavor - spicy. If kitchen didn't go overboard with extra cajun spice - even on dishes that weren't supposed to be, would have been better experience. Will have to try them again later, maybe when kitchen not crazy busy.

Came here on a whim while in Edmonton this weekend. Was very busy as we grabbed the last remaining table on the patio. Service was fast, knowledgable on the beer selections and overall very friendly. I ordered the short rib sandwich and I can tell you it was absolutely delicious. Thinking I had the greatest meal on the menu I had a vote of my wife's duck club sandwich and to my surprise her sandwich was even better! Highly recommend this stop for anyone!

Can't go wrong

I always sit at the lounge and order a bunch of appies and drinks.

Service is always up to par.
Always clean. Always busy.
Alice
Love it here! The service isn't always up to par but the food and the atmosphere is what's keeps me coming. Good place for a girls night or catch-up lunch
Roark
Ate there the other night with a group of 10 ppl, order a bunch of appetizers, flat bread, beef tataki, shrimp ravioli, calamari, and dry spear ribs. The appetizers weren't great, and I had order the hunters chicken as my main which was not bad, we also shared some other mains the fish, lamb and steak which weren't that great either. We ordered a few bottles of wine a Chilean Pinot noir which was a bad choice, then picked a safe wine a Mission Hill Shiraz which was good. Overall the food is mediocre, but I gotta say the service was great. Our server shyanne (sry if I spelled it wrong) was awesome I gotta say, she was pretty tentative and very professional. And the other server Stefan was awesome too. If you want a good place for service and drinks cactus club on jasper is great place to go, great atmosphere. But the food is mediocre.
Kaylap_bear
Old Faithful. I always chose this location, the servers are so tactful and attentive. The food is consistent. My favorite is the butternut squash ravioli. The sangria isn't amazing, shouldn't be in a highball glass. Will be back again and again.

Poor Service. Phoned on a Sunday to ask if I was able to make a reservation for that evening and was told they had to get a manager to make the reservation, which was fine with me. On hold for about 2 minutes then I was hung up on. Phoned back and tried again and was successful at making a reservation for that evening. When we went in we were approached by a hostess who was incredibly disrespectful. She told us that there was no reservation under my name. After standing in the entrance for about 10 minutes, she finally was able to get us a table on the patio. After we were seated, the rest of our evening went smoothly with our waitress being the only one who treated with respect and was very polite. This isn't the only negative experience I have had here. A few weeks prior 5 of us were seated in the lounge for dinner. When I ordered the cohiba, they had no mint, and when my brother ordered another one of their specialty drinks, they had no ginger beer. The level of professionalism in this establishment needs tremendous work. Being located in a central location there are many other restaurants to choose from. I strongly encourage those who find themselves wondering downtown for a place to eat, to not waste their time with the Cactus Club Cafe.

I paid how much for that?. My experience at the Cactus Club has been very positive and I think that represents the opinion of the guests I've taken with me but I have to say that I was really disappointed in the Butternut Squash Ravioli with Prawns. While my wife said it was tasty, I was embarrassed when it showed up for my her on Mother's Day. There were seven (7) ravioli pieces with seven (7) prawns on top of each one. It was literally a child's portion and it cost $25.25. It felt like a total rip-off and I felt terrible for her. I immediately caught the attention of our server and we ordered my wife a large salad with some chicken. Seriously Cactus Club - that portion size was pathetic.

I've been going to this location almost every week, however what happened yesterday was upsetting. I made a reservation on last week for a bday party with friends and coworkers but they had no record of my reservation. The manager at that time was rude and acted unprofessional to my friend to suggest alternatives, and his remark of "don't tell me how to run my business", was unacceptable. All she was doing is to gives suggestions because he wasn't even giving a solution. My friends and I will definitely not suggest anyone to make reservations as they certainly don't record them. Thank god my friends made the evening enjoyable and our server was excellent. My apologies I don't know your name, but I will inform the managers of your great service.

Overall Cactus Club Cafe continues to deliver tasty and reliably high quality dishes amenable to any classy or fine dining outing. The skill of chef Rob Feenie shows in his masterful balance of textures and flavours and should be experienced by anyone interested in excellent contemporary cuisine.

Reservations really seem to be an issue with this place. Banking on walk in traffic is dicey- the next new hip place that opens downtown and they will be wishing they had been more flexible with people trying to make a reservation

Carpaccio. Never had anything like it before. I'm not one for raw meat of any kind, but this sure is an exception. Even as an extremely picky eater (don't eat onions or any sauce really), the shallots and deep fried capers really make this dish truly amazing!

Good and bad. I came to this location for a birthday. The food is fantastic! No complaints in that department. But the staff........ I might as well have robots serving me. I think they're too busy posing or something cause they have no personality. We had about 4 different ones and they were all the same. Just goes to show the new generation. Cold and no consideration for anyone else. My tip is based on service. So I hope they get a good hourly wage!

Not cool. Last Friday I had lunch at the West End Cactus Club and after work met for drinks at this one. So I went to two Cactus Club's in one day. Anyway, this particular Cactus Club is uncool in a very particular way. The staff take being good looking very seriously, but don't seem to take customer service seriously in any way whatsoever. I'm sure a lot of people will dismiss my opinion for one reason or another, but I'm dead on.
Omnomnomnivore
Ordered the Bengal chicken and the rice came out undercooked. Server said basmati rice is supposed be a bit tougher and not like regular rice but other ppl at my table tried it also and agreed it was undercooked, including my brown friend.

The restaurant setting was beautiful but overall I was not pleased with the service or the food or drinks. The margarita came out tasting like cough syrup. I was expecting a nice blended margarita but it was a sad excuse for an $8 shaken drink. We waited over half an hour for our food and it took us reminding them to bring out our order that was lost due to "miscommunication". The manager said he'd take care of the bill for us but what did we have at the end of the night? A bill for our drinks, yeah the cough syrup. Not impressed. Will not be returning.

Worst overcharged service in Edmonton. I decided to go to Cactus Club Cafe on a Friday in the early evening with my significant other. We were seated quickly outside in the patio rather quickly, they allowed us to settle in for five minutes and then they came to take our drink orders. After that we ordered appetizers and they came to the table, our waitress left the menus on our table which was rather small so I had to set them on my lap; super inconvenient. After we finished the appetizers the waitress came back after what felt like an eternity and took our orders, my S.O. ordered the garden burger and I ordered them Bengal Curry Chicken. After 7 minutes our waitress told me my menu item wasn't available and asked me if I wanted to order anything else, she didn't even offer a menu to glance at; after I asked for one I was able to glance at it for a minute before my significant others burger arrived. I ended up ordering "The Burger" which took forever and was sub par. Terrible service at a ridiculous rate.

Where to start.People being way over served alcohol. I understand business and making $$. BUT....Mr.Management have a little respect. We all have family and friends on the roads. As for food.....we started with tuna sushi cones, simply not so much.... First word TUNA??? Then we ordered creole steak and prawns, also millionaire's cut. Both plates presentation sucked, because plates were dirty all the way around. Clean up your main dish presentations. Definitely can go on about other aspects, but I feel less of a millionaire and like I got cut. Service not good at all,to busy for staff or management to give a dam.
This was not a cheap outing, but most definitely my last at cactus club. Other's can be the next fool's. Avoid the (big boy) glittering B.S.

A bustling new location. Here is my thing with Cactus Club: Dessert. This is my favourite place to go for dessert. I highly recommend checking it out if you are like me and obsess over chocolate peanut butter dishes... go see for yourself :). This location gets pretty damn busy right now but should be easy to grab a dessert if you poke your head in later on in the evening.

Noisy and tacky. We went here when it first opened and I don't think if ever go back. It's so loud with terrible club music playing. Good for young teens maybe. Don't go here if you enjoy a good meal and relaxing atmosphere.

My mom and her husband came in from Dangriga, Belize where she has lived for the last 5 years. I wanted to take her somewhere special downtown and I decided on The Cactus Club. I had worked at Earls and Joeys before so I was expecting the same level of great food and service. As I Serve at a "The Best Steakhouse in Edmonton" I have very high expectations. Luckily Pamela was great. My mom and Jim had drinks in the lounge prior to our arrival and they were already impressed. When I arrived I told the host (who was very professional and welcoming) about my reservation. I proceeded to get my mom and Jim from the bar. I expected them to pay their bill first (as I am also in the business) before moving over and the bartenders were very gracious. We sat in a great booth for the 5 of us. Drinks were prompt and although I have an indecisive 13 year old, I was the most indecisive. Generally I like Ribeyes and I'm not a fan of Top Sirloins but I ordered the Creole Chicken which was the best chicken I've ever eaten. My GF got the Millionaire Cut and loved it (me too) she also loved my chicken. My mom and Jim shared the Top Sirloin with prawns and they were very happy. My kid is usually very picky but highly enjoyed the Wonton Soup. Her first drink was a lemonade but I perused the drink menu and decided on the Flirtini ingredients (Sans Alcohol) over ice for my daughter. (You can call it the Cailitini if you want) and she loved it. Desserts were outstanding and all in all the experience was fantastic. It's hard for me to go out to eat as I have very high standards but I was really impressed. I will definitely be back and will hold The CC as my go to restaurant for The Place To Go Downtown in Edmonton (even though I also work a few lunches a week at The Marc). I know some clueless customers would say "Give the server a raise!". But I know better. She was amazing and we tipped accordingly. Some would say we tipped too much but Landlords don't except "Thank You" or "You Were Amazing!" so we used cash. Pamela B. deserves credit for her personality, professionalism, and sincerity. Quite frankly, I now just hope and expect every staff member there to provide the same level of service we received. To impress ages 13, 32, 38, 63, and 65 is remarkable. Well done. All you need now is OpenTable. That is preferred but not necessary. I just think it would be a great way for customers to make resos and supply feedback. Anyway, Keep on keeping on. I'll be back soon.
Lorin

The Worst Dinning Experience I Have Ever Had- Anywhere!. I attempted to make a reservation for a 30th birthday party for 12 people on a Saturday at lunchtime. No one responded to my email so I finally called the facility and after multiple attempts I was able to reach a hostess- she advised me that she could see my online reservation and that a manager would call me to discuss details. She assured me that regardless of where I sat (private dinning room or regular seating), there would be a reservation in place. No one called me back. I showed up on the date and the manager advised me that he did not receive a reso. The woman on the phone previously had told me that the private dinning room required a minimum purchase of 300$- when I asked the manager if they could accommodate us here, he rudely advised me that I would not be able to afford this because it is actually $1000.00 (something that he was supposed to call and discuss with me prior). It took 15 minutes to get a round of drinks. It took us one full hour to get our appetizers. We also ordered lunch and almost all the dishes were incorrectly entered. The manager did not even acknowledge, let alone try to compensate, for the horrible service we received. It was the most awful dinning experience I have ever had and I felt even worse because I agreed to arrange this for my friend and I felt it reflected poorly on me. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have never made on online review before but I'm feeling slightly compelled in this case!

Great!. Always a treat when I get to escape to Cactus Club. They have a wine list that anyone can find something they like. All the food I've sampled has been wonderful and comes out in a great time. Highly recommend the carpaccio. They do team serving there so there is always someone around to grab you whatever you need and you never feel like youre left without someone to help you.

Went for a friends birthday with a party of 12 was told it wouldn't be necessary for a reso on a Monday. Showed up, too busy to be seated, was offered a round of drinks for all the guests only to be informed at the end of the meal that the drinks that were offered were not complimentary as previously stated. Terrible business representation, understandable that the lower caliber management is running the slower shifts but to recoil from the agreement you had offered is beyond unprofessional. As reputable a company as this establishment is and in such a prime location you would really hope for more.

Horrible service!!! Basically the manager and hostess told my friend and I that we were lying about a reservation we made and made us feel very uncomfortable. And on top of that made us wait even more at least 30 minutes. So much for making reservations bc they will just loose it. Very disappointed . They should not advertise on their website that they make sure all their customers are happy. We sure were not. If we didn't have others meet us there we totally woulda went somewhere else.

Where did they find the Waitresses!!!. Ummm... Ok, went in and all the waitresses were gorgeous. My buddies and I usually grab a drink here and there and honestly, the waitresses were very attractive all around. Despite the good looking women, the service was quite good, the beers were very cold in their frosted mugs, and the food was also quite delicious. I would recommend trying this place out if you haven't.

Good Times. Went to Cactus Club with some girlfriends for lunch and had a really good time! Had the tuna tataki and the raincoast greens... both amazing. Really enjoyed all of their drinks. My friend ordered the signature caesar and said it was was the best she ever had in her life! We will be back!

I just dined here this evening. I will say the food was so plain tasting not even any spices or seasonings ?? The servers and managers were so snouty and rude like they were better than us lol like try being a little nicer when you rely on our tips. It's expensive and totally not worth what you get considering you have to pay to park then pay to get treated terribly with terrible food to boot. When I told the server what I had wanted she laughed like it was funny or something... I will never return to a cactus club again.

Yummy! Cant wait to go back. Had the raviolli n its a different taste; kinda sweet.

No thanks. Cactus Club is Earls on steroids. Pretty girls, all with the same BMI, in black cocktail dresses. Pulsating soundtrack. Dim lights (I could scarcely read the menu). Weird details (black and white movies play in the bathroom stalls...I feel no need to watch a movie whilst I am on the can). Too many blind corners. I can't tell you how many cocktail dressed pretties I almost crashed into as I tried to find the movie-bathroom.

The food was pretty good. The flatbread appetizer was warm and the arugula atop was fresh, though the goat cheese was chalky. The cocktails themselves were very tasty. My Hunter's Chicken was tender, if overly salty. The crisp green beans underneath were the best part. My friend's Butternut Squash Ravioli with Prawns were awesome. I wish I'd ordered that. Apple Galette for dessert was killingly sweet. I could feel my teeth wither.

I was a bit appalled at the bill. Two mains, two drinks, an appetizer and a dessert = $100. We could have had a meal at Corso for that and then some. Plus the waitress made some pretty awkward and inappropriate jokes.

Great as Always. What more can I say, great food with great service, cactus club cafe has never failed to deliver.

Decent place to come chill out at. Can't go wrong. Nice atmosphere. Great location.. I actually like this location better than West Ed's. The yam fries were amazing. My ling cod was a little dry and tiny but I managed to like it. The thai curry was so-so and the rice was a little dry but I didn't mind. All because I didn't have to pay for it I guess. I enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. The service was very good and attentive without being annoying. You have different people bringing you dishes which is refreshing. The menu is varied and solid and has something for everyone no matter what kind of mood and price range you are in. I'd call this a no-brainer place to chill at no matter what occasion you got going on.

I thought the atmosphere was really nice, and the staff was extremely friendly. Overall, a very nice place to go. I'd recommend ... Especially for a few drinks/dinner after work or a Saturday afternoon. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, there isn't much originality here ... Typical food choices, nothing special (although the food was great!!!). With all the other nice places in the area, I was hoping for somthing a little original, a new flavour to the DT scene, we don't really get that here , especially with Joey Jasper 2 doors down. Might as we'll throw a moxies across the street.

Over all, nice place, friendly service, good food ... But not worth an hour wait, especially with all the good restaurants in the area. It's only hype for now.

I had lunch there last week with one of my clients. Very good. The Cajun chicken burger is a work of art. That sauce is awesome. Of course the scenery is nice, and decor. I saw some of the other plates coming out of the kitchen and I actually look forward to getting back there again soon.

Atmosphere atmosphere. It was my second time to Cactus club franchise. I was impressed the first time with the food hence talked my friend into it. The atmosphere at this location is probably one of the nicest in Edmonton. Hence I can understand the 1 hr and 20 minute wait to get a table. We decided to get drinks to pass the time. The spiked FRAP and Bellini were both decadent. We were seated and our server was very friendly. I ordered the tuna melt sandwich, it was good but not as good as the blackened chicken I had the last time. I think the time waiting was not worth the mediocre sandwich. +ves service, atmosphere, and drinks -ves: mediocre food

Excellent Service, food very boring. I really loved the service but it doesn't mitigate a menu that is cloned from every other place exactly like it.
The wine menu looked good, but drinking at lunch isn't a thing for health care workers...
Nothing about this place to convince me to patronise any chain restaurant of my own volition.

Underwhelmed, just another big chain.... I had high expectations because I have heard a lot of great things about Cactus Club but was pretty disappointed. It might be that they are still ironing out the kinks because they just opened but I probably won't give them a second chance.

The restaurant itself is gorgeous and it has a wonderful atmosphere for after work drinks but...

The food (the most important part to me!) was not very good. I ordered the BBQ duck club and my friend ordered the shortrib sandwich. My club was soggy, sloppy, and not very tasty. The shortrib sandwich was pretty good but nothing special. Both of our fries were saltier than McDonalds fries and were inedible. When other reviewers say "the food was inedible" I usually roll my eyes, but honestly these fries were too salty to eat.

I have to admit though that our shrimp ravioli appetizer was really good though. So maybe we ordered the wrong things?

The server was really nice so I hate to sound like a jerk but she wouldn't go away. I came to talk to me friend not to her. It's part of what annoys me about these types of chains (Cactus Club, Earls, etc.) The servers are trained to chat up the table and be welcoming but honestly it's so forced and annoying just bring me good food.

The servers are all beautiful women in short skirts trained to chat you up and flirt. Not surprisingly the men that work there are in suits and mostly in manager positions. It's just kind of sexist and gross, making the food less appetizing. There are more interesting and tasty places to eat in this neighbourhood.

Yum!. As always, a beautiful dinner with great service. The new location is outstanding...worth the wait if you get there at peak hours.

I came here for a quick lunch with some co workers and really enjoyed it! I got the tuna tataki that our server suggested for an appy, and the quinoa salad for a main. Really good food and awesome service.

Disappointing. If I wanted bland mashed potatoes and bland asparagus with my filet mignon I would have asked my mother to cook. At least the service was good.

My friends and I usually go to Cactus Club Cafe on Jasper Ave after a day of studying to reward ourselves. They recently opened their indoor patio because of the warmer weather.

The whole family worked Mother’s Day weekend this year, so I suggested we go to dinner Friday night instead. Their choice, my treat – obviously. My mom will almost always choose a Vietnamese or Chinese restaurant, but this year she wanted a change. She was craving steak. She also wanted to try someplace new, with her usual go-to spot of Sawmill, going downhill in ratings. So we tried out Cactus Club Cafe on Jasper instead! I don’t normally review chain restaurants, in fact, I don’t think I ever have. But good food is still good food, and even better when my family enjoys it as well!

Don’t get me wrong, this was by no means a bad burger, but somehow all these parts that individually sound great seemed to come together to negate each other and what you wound up with was a burger that didn’t have a lot going on flavour wise. Maybe more salt on the meat and an extra tablespoon of the red pepper relish could have made a
