Went to this pub, for fish and chips, the chips were of sweet potato and the fish was booked in beer batter , the coleslaw was different in taste and overall the place was very lively and they were very prompt in there service !
My favourite place in Edmonton for Wings Wednesdays! Staff are friendly, there's no ridiculous wait time (around 15 minutes) and it's never difficult to find seating.
My go to flavours every Wednesday are honey garlic and salt & pepper. A nice saucy flavour paired with a dry rub!
This place is always packed. Pop by for a pub with a bit of a British feel haha. While you can get a pint that isn't too expensive, it's not the cheapest British pub
Even though I LOVE Duggans, Obyrnes has become my go-to for drinks and appys for one reason... So much space!! Their patio is awesome and usually you can find a seat on a nice day, depending when you go . If you can't find a seat on the patio, there are plenty of little nooks inside and a few private rooms for getting away from the bustle.
Recently I tried these food items- share platter, poutine, wings and Irish spring rolls. All awesome.
3 of us shared the poutine, wings and spring rolls after a few beers - and I left kind of hungry. I would suggest the share platter if you have more than 3, and maybe even then add an extra appy if you're starving.
They also have lots of entertainment during the week, I've only been to Celtic jam night... It makes you feel like you're in Ireland enjoying a pint.
Bonus: I suggest the shock top+ Guinness. I'll add a pic for reference.
A good place to have a few pints and eat some very decent food. I had the beef stew with Guinness and ended up mopping the plate clean with the homemade (and awesome) soda bread that comes with it. My SO had the sausages and mash, the mash being made out of actual potatoes (!) unlike a certain chain restaurant we were dragged to the night before. No wonder it's hard to get a table at this place even on a Tuesday night.
Mostly good, one bad thing !!!. I've been here a number of times, the service always seems decent and the beer is cold and reasonable at happy hour. Generally, their pub food is average I'd say except for their fish and chips which are excellent .... BUT I always make sure that I ask the server to tell the kitchen staff that I want my F&C's fresh and hot out of the deep frier, even "crispy" if that's what it takes. My big complaint is the noise level when live entertainment is happening. If the regulars who frequent this place often are not hearing impaired, I'd be surprised. Even sitting at the far back of the place in what are almost separate quarters, the music is too loud, not sure how anyone up front near the band can stand it. If no seating was available well away from the music, I'd leave without hesitating.
Loved this place! Large patio, service was exceptional! A lot of cool places to sit, next time I want to try the food but the drinks were great! Be back for sure :)
Western hospitality.. Great place went here for three days while I stayed in Edmonton. Had the Lam sandwich was good, also the shepherd pie spring rolls. I have never had such a thing and wish I didn’t forget the rest I could not eat it all at once (they give you alot). Great beer selection. I liked the crowd mixed 25-35 and 90’s music on the Friday and Saturday. Great service considering how busy it was. Great services from the guy with the moustache and girl from Saskatchewan.
Great food, great service. Steak sandwich was fantastic, and at $14 you cannot go wrong.

An absolute favorite!. I Love coming to O'byrnes for any occasion. I have never ever had bad service here! They are all so nice and efficient. The food is fantastic! such a huge variety on their menu! love the patio! Always an awesome experience at O'byrnes!
Love it here!. I'm a regular at O'Byrnes and absolutely love it here. It has a great 'family run and operated' feel, the food is unlike any other typical pub fare served in Edmonton, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxing. I've read so many of the reviews below and I think it's unfortunate that customers are complaining about the service. Have these customers been to other places like Hudson's or the Pint where I personally think the service is of much lower caliber? Customers have to keep in mind this is not a fine dining restaurant and like any other popular pub on whyte, when it is busy you may have to wait!
Awesome!. We were looking for a place that had "loaded Nachos" that were actually loaded and these ones are. We could hardly find the nachos under all the toppings. Soooo Gooood!!!! We will be back for sure!

Must see!. This Pub is an amazing little spot on Whyte Ave that is set up in such a way that they can have plenty of people in the pub but you can still hang out with and talk with your friends.

Oh not bad. Stopped by this place a few times in the past on usual bar hopping nights with friends and its not to shabby, its quite big, has a patio and good service. went a few days ago for wings and the wings were good not to bad, of course you had to order a drink but wing quality is way better than brewsters and hudsons for sure. has a nice upstairs which has a pretty awesome setup and feels cozy..somewhat. its loud especially if you go near 9 because of the live music but thats not a complaint i mean its a pub. just dont expect to have a convo without some sort of yelling lol. great place to stop by i recommend it.
Some Guy. Moving to the city soon so I was doing some scouting around for places and decided while travelling down Whyte to take a stop in here. We had chips (not fries, I should mention. British Chips are a different style), fish and chips, and the corned beef and cabbage on potatoes. Of them all, I personally found the fish a bit. . . fishy, though the batter and chips were spot on. I can ignore the fishiness and pass it off as a single case. The corned beef and cabbage (basically a Pot au feu for those of you who are frenchy) was DELICIOUS!! I could have done with a slightly bigger portion, but really, I can't complain too much.
Additionally, the feel was that of a pub, and I really liked it!
Pub Perfection. Though not normally a pub guy I love this place. For me it is the real deal. We've been three times now and I find the food good and consistent and the place itself is inviting and comfortable in a very old world manner. Yes the service isn't as attentive as other restaurants; it's a pub. It's more casual, more about relaxing and drinking and eating than having a server talk to you every three minutes. I cannot resist their fish and chips. Best in town. Period.
Great pub. My boyfriend and I love to walk here and have a bite to eat and a drink if it's not too busy. Great atmosphere. My greatest like on the menu is the coconut cod. I was crushed when they took it off the menu and delighted when it came back on.

An Irish Pub Done Right!. I've ventured here a few times now and been pretty happy with the results. This place has the right look and feel, decent service (though occassionally exceptional), good pub-food overall, waitresses in tartan skirts, and a patio! It's got everything a good pub needs.
Food recommendations? Hands down they have the best sweet potato fries in the city so far. Crispy and tender without being greasy. Their fish is a treat too. A good crisp batter that again, isn't incredibly greasy. Try the coconut -battered fish too! There's lots of good stuff on the menu so you can safely try new things and not be left disappointed. My only beef is the fries; they're just okay. Bumping up to something with the skin on and maybe fresh cut would really help put this place over the top... I mean an Irish pub needs to do its potatoes properly!
Overall, a solid pub experience with better food & service than most regular restaurants in the area. The inside has a real homey feel and there's plenty of corners to get cozy in. Check it out!
Pub food can be edible. Pub food has a reputation: best enjoyed when alcohol dulls the taste buds. I too believed this adage, but O'Byrne's was the first Edmonton pub that changed my perception. Good service, unpretentious interior and some very, very good chowder and bread. In fact, I recommend that one tastes their food without the benefit/hindrance of alcohol. There is indeed a growing trend of pubs serving top-score food; O'Byrnes was a quite upstart before others gained notoriety.
Finally a reason to go to Edmonton. I recently went there for some late night drinks with my Edmonton friends. I had a great time out; staff is great easy going totally helping to create a really fun atmosphere. Lots for drink options and the food is great as well.
Best part is the patio, located on Whyte Ave the patio is already open and is full. Great heaters for those chillier nights, tons of seating and full menu service.

The chicken wings are decent but the place can be packed to the rafters on Fri/Sat with some pretty obnoxious people. Par for the course for a pub on whyte ave, really.
Authentic. Much better than most other so-called pubs. Food is average, as are the drinks. Not genuinely interested waitresses, but elegant looking and dressed in pretty tartan skirts
Great Place To People Watch. Loved the chicken tenders. Probably the only things I'd go back for. Okay service. Patio is a great place to people watch.
