Review Joey Bell Tower - Edmonton

Megan Thompson
This is a beautiful restaurant in a very good location and my husband and I were quite excited to spend date here. My husband made reservations online for our date and an employee called the day before to confirm that we were still coming - nice touch. We were dressed in casual attire when we arrived to JOEY as we were attending a hockey game after our meal; when we arrived, the hostess asked if we had a reservation, which my husband told her we did and gave her the name for the reservation. The hostess didn't confirm our reservation on her tablet and we were told to wait to be seated over to the side of the lobby...which we found a bit strange. We waited and watched several people walk in and get seated; first a couple of people which the same hostess asked if they'd like to sit at the bar, which we weren't asked and they were taken straight over, and another small family that were taken to a table to be seated in the time we were waiting. We then went back up to the same hostess who we checked in with, who asked us how we were again, so I assume she forgot who we were or why we were there, and asked if we could just sit at the bar, and she decided to seat us. As we were being escorted to the bar, we walked past three empty tall table's and asked if we could sit there to which she replied; "no they're for a reservation"...which we were. She ended up taking two chairs from one of the tables and seating us at the bar. In the entire time we were at JOEY (which was well over an hour), no one sat at that table we asked to sit at. It took a significant amount of time to get our first drinks, and our food which our bartender apologized for due to how busy it was, which we totally understood. The food and drinks were wonderful, and we look forward to trying more items from the menu, we just hope that our host/hostess greeting at our next visit is more attentive and conscientious about their guests as we did not feel very valued during our last welcome into JOEY. If our next visit is better, I will update my review.

I ordered the hot wings & dumpling for appetizer and they were delicious. We followed with the poke bowl & blacked chicken. It was all wonderful but I give this location a 4/5 because our waitress was not the greatest. She seemed like she didn’t like her job. Overall great food but okay service !

The night that I visited I was craving a Chicago med filet... Which I did order but read told that the only chef who could prepare it was not working So sadly I ordered the burger with mushrooms and cheddar. It was very good, but it wasn't steak. The food was good, the service not very. On a night when it was fairly empty I should have been better.

I have been here a thousand times and really enjoy it. It's great for lunches, meetings, pre or post game drinks, appies and dinner, to hosting events. The staff is usually pretty switched on and the food is always consistently good.

Joey Bell tower was so awesome to us on our anniversary this week. They gave us a quiet table with a nice view and split our orders in the kitchen instead of making us do it at the table. The Server Lucas (Lukas?) was great also. They brought us free dessert on a fancy plate and the entire thing was delicious, lunch, drinks and dessert were all incredible. 10/10 would recommend. The manager said we didn’t look old enough to be celebrating 8 years married, we were both very happy to hear that 🥰

Was such a great experience, food is perfectly cooked and presented, and “Sam” was just great. Definitely will go with my family

Great location - minutes away from the arena. Excellent menu with lots of gluten free and vegetarian options. Decent cocktail list. Blackened chicken was great - crispy potato bacon salad is delightful. Crispy tofu bowl was perfect. Service on point. Prices reasonable. Will absolutely go again.

Did not have to wait long to be seated. Our waiter, a male, never in my life had a male waiter, never got his name, he made our 'Date-night' an easy, relaxed experience! Thank you, whoever you are!! The food was beyond amazing!! 10+ very busy place, I would recommend reservations, if your hungry going in their. My husband and I will definitely be back, at this location, (downtown) . Reasonable prices, for the food! Cheers!!

Absolutely one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food was absolutely delicious. Mistake was corrected immediately and the service was definitely top notch. Having ran a restaurant myself I would be honored to have the quality staff that were presented. Our waitress walaa k was incredible and very polite. One would not know that she was learning. Fantastic attitude and super amazing persona. Definitely will find myself in this establishment again. Bell tower Edmonton

This restaurant has THE BEST service I have ever had! We were in town for Volleyball Nationals and our team Manager (Brandie) booked our team (Sky Volleyball Club - Vernon, Bc) and parents reservations at your restaurant. From the moment we walked in the door, greeted with smiles and once seated we were attended to promptly. All of us were paying separately and/Or had a child at other table which can be difficult to keep straight especially when handing out bills at the end. The great care and efficiency on handling such a large group by your manager and employees was incredible! Our parent table had the pleasure of having Natasha as our server....WOW! Top notch, she was fantastic! I know the girls also had a great server. I was impressed that your manager got right in there to help with serving drinks or whatever help he could. We have Joey Kelowna and when we've gone in as a team we were never treated as well as we were here. In fact we were told when making reservations that we would have to be quick...like really?? In the end WE ended up waiting almost an hour for our bills and for some reason we were told they couldn't put our children's food on our bills and we had to pay separately. Anyways...my point is you have a exceptional staff at this location and of course the food was delicious! Thank you for making such an enjoyable night out.

The server we had (Chris) was fantastic and the food was super yummy, especially the sushi menu. The beer was extremely overpriced at $9.25 for only a 14 oz sleeve and the sinks in the bathroom are super messy. (The dyson dryer is attached to the auto spout and blows water and aids everywhere) Very beautiful restaurant in a good location.

Food was delicious! I had the naan bread with the coconut curry to start, and the ravioli with lobster cream sauce and shrimp for the main; would highly recommend it to anyone!! Staff were friendly, we were seated quickly. I did think it was strange that when I asked for lemon and lime with my water that it wasn't actually brought with the water, instead I was told the bar would be bringing it. It arrived about 30 mins after my water, and my bellini. Overall loved the atmosphere and the food, was a great girls night out

Little pricey, however, the excellent service is worth the price. The server specifically service asked on her own "any preferences, any allergies, any restrictions"! That is very good. Grilled Salmon was fresh. Generous portion.

After a long day working I was looking for a decent place to eat ;I travel around the world for business and I was very surprised and extremely satisfied with the food and the atmosphere at this place. Great food greater service by Maya a young waitress that took care of us along with the rest of the great looking servers in the place. Music was a good addition and I'm planing to bring back my team from cancun so they can see what a great place this is. No issues to get in for a Saturday night. Keep the good job

Wow!! This was one of the best customer service experiences we have ever had eating out in Edmonton. Hands down. It was our first time eating there. Our server Megan was so wonderful. Ask to sit in her section and we are sure you won’t be disappointed. Upon arriving I was so thirsty I was downing glasses of water left and right and continued to do so through the whole meal. She never let my glass reach empty. My boyfriend ordered a beer and it was brought right over immediately. We ordered their gyoza for a starter (AMAZING *drool*) and they came very promptly but you could tell they were fresh and not sitting under a heat lamp or something. When it came time to order, she was very understanding about letting me order my own simple dish that was not on the menu. I felt so awful to have to ask and she was so sweet about it saying it was absolutely no problem. When my boyfriend ordered the filet mignon he let her know that it was because we were out celebrating! She didn’t have to ask but she was excited and asked what it was we were celebrating. He informed her we were celebrating being completely debt free! You could tell she was genuinely happy for him and congratulated him and even asked some other questions about it. When our food came mine was perfect! Everything hot and cooked to perfection. My boyfriend was a little disappointed because the veggies that came with his steak were all the ones he hates. That was completely our bad. We should have asked what they were when we ordered. When she came by to ask how everything was, he told her his mistake and asked if he could get something else. She was so kind and, again, understanding. She even asked what he would prefer. After asparagus was settled on, they were brought out so hot and cooked great! He really enjoyed the crispy potatoes that came with the meal and I know we would return for those alone! After we had our fill and she brought the bill and they took the gyoza off the meal and said it was their way of sharing in our celebration of being debt free. WOW! Just so amazing the whole experience. I had to write this review as soon as we got home. We cannot wait to be back. Thank you!!

Even though it was a very busy night and there were some small server errors they handled it well and the food was great.

Went in last night for the first time - it was very busy but we got in right away and drinks arrived quickly. The girls that served us were lovely and very attentive. However - my boyfriend had a chip in his glass, which isn't a huge deal and his drink was replaced, and I asked for a blue rare steak and it came out medium rare. By the time my steak was replaced, everyone else had finished their meal. The girls were very apologetic about it but it's still frustrating to get food after everyone else. But overall the atmosphere was very upbeat and the service was good.

Our server was a young lady by the name of Chantal. She was amazing, very personable and was very interested in conversation with us. Service was great and our food was relish as always. Definitely going back. Thank you Chantal.

Our fave place in downtown Edmonton! Fast, friendly service with excellent food and drinks. Looking forward to our next visit.

The place was packed but luckily a table freed up. Service was very good, we were advised of the remaining minutes for the happy hour menu -- drinks were good, burgers terrific (as is usual for any Joey in my experience), the ladies liked their dynamite rolls and salmon sushi. Very happily in and out in about an hour.

This company operates on a level of professionalism that most do not. High quality food and service is a given to be a successful restaurant but this LOCATION goes above and beyond. If there ever is an issue (because at the end of the day, Joey employs human beings not robots), you will not leave disappointed but walk out with a sense of appreciation.
Absolutely love coming to Joey Bell Tower! The staff are extremely friendly and the management show tremendous care for every customer. The food that they serve is always great and the atmosphere is awesome. Also, to have a manager that comes around to ensure every customer is having a great experience shows the level of dedication everyone here has. Joeys Bell Tower is definitely a restaurant you must go to here in Edmonton!

highly dont think this resturant is good. the management and staff working were not nice at all we sat at a booth i was wearing jeans and a tshirt because we came from shopping but i over heard two of the girls talking saying that she already knows shes not going to get a tip based on the way we looked like.... we didnt even order and she was being rude so my husband and i left without even ordering and went to craft market beer place instead. this is not what i expected from joeys. they only want "high class" people there

I ate here for free during the grand opening last year because my friends and I signed up to be guinea pigs and boy was it worthwhile! I actually signed up for lunch but my friend invited me for dinner too so I went twice in one day. Each time there was a good sampler menu and they provided booze. I had to take the afternoon off because of that ;) I might be influenced by the free food and alcohol, but I think the place was pretty nice and the food was not as bad as I had thought it would be. Some things were more forgettable than others for sure, but it's not as boring as Earls or Cactus Club. The beef dip was real good. The sushi was edible. I just liked the diverse food options there. Surprisingly there were no dull moments. I highly recommend coming here for any occasion.

I've been to JOEY a few times here in Winnipeg and the service has always okay. But here in Edmonton, it was something different. First off what I like about JOEY is that the food is always consistent. I always always always order the yellow fin tuna salad. Sure it is a little on the expensive side but it's so good. Our servers were so sweet and we actually had full on conversations with both of them. We had also ordered some food to go and the chef brought out our food for us and that's something I've never seen before and I really admired that. We were accommodated very nicely!

I absolutely loved it here. We had the pressed salmon sushi, sushi cones, penang prawn curry bowl, and yellowfin tuna salad.
The pressed salmon sushi was done so right and it's my favourite place to get pressed salmon sushi because I can't get it anywhere else that tastes this good.
Their sushi cones were wrapped in rice paper (not nori) and tasted good, however nothing outstanding.
The penang prawn curry tasted great - we didn't have much expectations because we've had great penang curry at other places but it blew us away.
The yellowfin tuna salad is another one of my faves as it tasted so fresh and I absolutely loved the dressing and mango pieces that it came with.
If I ever go back I'd definitely order the pressed salmon sushi and yellowfin tuna salad again.
Service was great - food came out at a reasonable time and servers were friendly. Great ambiance as well, I'd say it's a nice place to take someone out on a casual date.

A bumping downtown establishment located near the Ice District. I stopped by on a mid Friday lunch rush to grab a quick bite to eat. Getting there around 1155am, we were promptly seated in a back corner. Thankfully it wasn't as loud there as it was in the rest of the restaurant. I wouldn't characterize it as abnormally loud though - you don't have to yell too hard for the person across from you to hear you.

I ended up trying their Osaka Style Pressed Salmon Sushi, which ended up being (6? 7?) smaller pieces of sushi for $15. Somewhat overpriced, but the quality was pretty good. I really enjoyed how it just melted in the mouth, and the sashimi was noticeable albeit a bit thin. Food was served relatively fast, we were in and out within 45 minutes.

Service was fine. Frequent refills, checking in on us a few times, etc. I liked the environment too. It seems different but yet similar to the other Joey's in Edmonton, and I found it hard to pinpoint why. All in all, it's a bit of a louder restaurant but nonetheless it's a great addition to the downtown Edmonton food scene. Recommended.

Came on business trip, found this place right beside. Good choice of wine and food taste good too, love the tacos. Waitresses are nice! Definitely will come back.

It is your standard joeys restaurant. I came downtown to a hockey game and did not know where to eat. Sort of stumbled onto it and it was nice and close to Rogers Place. We did not have much time so get we just got a bunch of appetizers. Food was quick and good, hit the spot.

Excellent first time experience. This is a flagship location so they get to pilot new menu items - I had the Mushroom Bacon Pasta dish, which is going to replace the Fettuccini Alfredo. I don't normally opt for carbonara type dishes but the waitress insisted it was savoury and IT WAS! I dined with 3 colleagues for lunch and we all enjoyed our meals. Our waitress was lovely and the MG popped by our table to ask how our food was and service etc. Keep it up Joeys Bell Tower 👍🏻

JOEY Bell Tower is in a prime location downtown and is sure to be busy with the post-work and pre-game crowd. There's sure to be something to please every palate on the globally-inspired menu and JOEY is very accommodating when it comes to allergies and dietary restrictions. Although it isn't drastically different from other locations, keep in mind that it is a flagship location with more culinary creativity and unique dishes on the menu.

Had to try it because it’s new and close to the office. Calamari was decent, as you can’t go wrong with the aspargus with it to dip in the spicy aioli. Flatbread with sundried tomatoes and chipotle aioli was apparently “delicious if you sub the mayo with hot sauce.” I had the Chili chicken with a side of brown rice because I am health. The combination of the brown rice and chicken is pretty bomb but to combat the sweet of the chili I put soy sauce on the rice to get that little bit of salt. This place is your standard Joey’s that you may have tried over and over again. However, it’s not the best place to eat downtown.

Depending on if you’re coming here after attending Rogers Place, this might be the spot. Although there might be better places a short block away with better menus. We came for a lunch and parking cost 12 bucks for a little over an hour. The waitresses were also wearing jeans. I felt like I was at a Montana’s or something, this place is supposed to compete with the likes of Cactus Club which employ Instagram models….probably. Once the arena is up all this might change, but right now….just Uber to Cactus for better food.

Sal says: Just skip it

#yegeats #yeg #yegdt #food #foodie #foodporn #instafood #delicious #yummy #lunch #dinner #icedistrict
