Review Ruth's Chris Steak House - Edmonton

Great evening out at Ruth's Chris Steak House for our anniversary. Friendly service and great attention to detail beginning the minute we walked in the door. We ordered off the prime time menu and my steak was done perfectly and very hot on that sizzling plate. My wife's stuffed chicken was very good too. Great follow-up with the bread pudding. Thanks Brian and the rest of the staff! We'll be back.

Located at right on Jasper Ave, and somewhat hidden in plain sight, this restaurant’s interior is not what it appears to be on the outside. Upon entry you are welcomed by the extreme grandiosity of the restaurant; low lighting, high ceilings, royal-esk draping, massive couch like booths. Just think old money! To no surprise, Ruth’s Chris has wonderful service. It’s gives very much, 5-star hotel vibes. Our server was great, he really kept up with table maintenance but I will say he kind of lacked that socialization aspect. He made very little conversation, meal suggestions, or even smiled. However, because I was celebrating a special occasion the manager came over with some confetti for the table and card! How sweet, hey?? To start we ordered the Spicy Shrimp, and for entrees we ordered the Cowboy Ribeye, the New York Strip, Lobster Mac & Cheese and the Lyonnaise Fingerling Potatoes. So let’s get into the shrimp because when I say I would go back to Ruth’s Chris for this shrimp alone!!! l cannot rave enough, if there is one thing you should order from their menu, it’s this! Both steaks were excellent, it is pretty clear that you are eating high quality beef that has been prepared with great technique. The Cowboy was definitely my favourite of the two, the bone really does add another depth of flavour. It was also more salty, which I prefer. The potatoes were pretty standard, nothing special. As for the Mac & Cheese, I lowkey felt like it was over hyped.. personally, I found it to be just okay and I think it needed a bit of salt and more lobster lol. Overall, the food at Ruth’s Chris is great. There’s nothing that I ordered that didn’t taste good. However, aside from the steaks, I feel like the rest of their menu is slightly over priced!

We went here for our anniversary dinner. Our waiter was so nice, helped us understand the menu, told us the sides were large enough to share so we didn’t have to get 2 of them, the food was amazing, service was a 5/5, we wanted this anniversary to be a bit more special and Ruth Chris Steak house made that happen. They even called the next day to check in and see how our dinner was, 14 years of marriage and that has never happened. Amazing place! Highly recommend and worth the money.

Had an amazing dinner at Ruth Chris tonight. Tyler made a special evening an event to remember. His knowledge of wine and food pairings is second to none. The stakes were great the sides were amazing. He even talked us into the tomahawk steak which was amazing. Looking forward to dinning here again in the future

Spent the evening here March 12th, we had the private safe room. Definitely will be back to enjoy the delicious food. Also the attentive service, warm greetings, and positive experience from our server Tamra O made the night a blessing for our large party whom she connected with very well.

Ruth’s Chris helped me plan a surprise wedding for my fiancée. They went above & beyond to make this moment spectacular. Never mind the delicious food. The service, the extra attention by Chris to make sure all was going well was incredible. Thank you for helping me make a brilliant memory.

While pricey the food is absolutely delicious! The steaks were cooked to perfection! Get the banana pie dessert, you can thank me later! We will be returning.

First and foremost the hospitality and service are first class as Edmonton does not have many places that are as attentive as the United States great steakhouses. Ruth’s Chris brings that hospitality to Edmonton in an unparalleled way. Our server was Tyler and we were seated in the library room down stairs- next time I will try for the vault room. We were a party of five adults and one toddler. We celebrated my moms 75th birthday party and we had a blast. Highly recommend getting the crab cakes, the seared tuna and shrimp cocktail. I had the gamblers old fashioned pre entree and other members of our party had the blueberry mojito and also the champagne Bellini. All so good. Entrees wise our party had the porterhouse for two, petit fillet, sea bass, and the king Ora salmon all of which satiated us with enjoyment. The porterhouse was excellent as you get a bit of filet and tenderloin in one steak. As for the sides the mashed potatoes, lobster Mac and cheese, au gratin potatoes and the cremini mushrooms were excellent accompaniments along with the argyle Pinot noir. We all opted for the cheesecake for dessert which was delicious. Tyler and the staff were integral to a great dining experience. In the end my mother had a great night out which was priceless. We will be back.

I have not been to this restaurant in several years, but I remembered it fondly as a place where I had exceptional customer service to go with the high priced menu and excellent food. I ate here on March 9 2018 with my husband and another couple. I had seen earlier in the week that Ruth's was participating in the Edmonton Downtown dining week event and their website said that you could get a 3 course steak dinner for $45. Upon arrival we were promptly seated by the hostess and a waitstaff immediately asked me if we would like ice or sparkling water. I asked for a cocktail and was shot down by her, being told that my waitress would take care of food and drink orders, not her. After a bit of delay the waitress Aggie arrived and took our drink order. We were waiting for our guests and I would have liked to order an appetizer too while we were waiting but never had the opportunity as the drinks were slow in arriving and by the time Aggie returned I knew my guests were in the building via text. As I was given my cocktail I asked about the downtown dining event special and I think this is where the wheels fell off the bus, as the waitress decided we were going to be a cheap table. She said that there was a different menu for that and then returned to give us the second menu. My guests had now arrived so we placed our order, 3 of us ordering the special and my husband ordering the ribeye. Food was excellent, came piping hot, but we were never asked if anyone wanted a second cocktail. I had to ask my waitress for another rum which I thought was odd. Then when it was time for dessert the three people who had ordered the special were asked what their selection was but my husband was not offered a dessert menu at all, nor were we asked if we wanted coffee, etc. I had to ask for tea. My husband left a generous tip but I was very disappointed with the service--it was completely underwhelming! With all the choices in Edmonton, and I eat out alot, I will not be back any time soon.

We had lunch the other day. The meal was really good and very well priced. The atmosphere in the restaurant was classy and relaxing with smooth music in the background. The staff from entrance to exit were pleasant inviting and we never had to ask our server for anything. If you are down on this end of Jasper between noon and two I recommend dropping in for lunch. You won't be disappointed.

My family was visiting from Ontario for my graduation and my moms birthday. As a combined celebration dinner we decided to give this place a try as they were looked to experience that amazing Alberta Beef - and what better way than a highly acclaimed steak house? In the end: we were extremely disappointed. There was 5 of us altogether. We were first introduced to our server Kevin, who seemed like a pleasant man despite his gloating of his wine expertise. We each ordered drinks individually, and then a bottle of wine with dinner. Three started salads were ordered, however only 2 were delivered. In fact, when these salads were delivered (not by our waiter), they were not explained, and therefore I ended up eating the salad that my brother had actually ordered. When we brought to Kevin's attention (after we had to try multiple times to get his attention to come to the table) he seemed annoyed at our concern for the missing salad - Kevin did not apologize or even create an excuse, he simple brought us a salad a few minutes later. Our entrees were then delivered, with my fathers steak having been the wrong one. He ordered filet mignon, but was delivered the new york strip - again, when brought to Kevin's attention, there was no apology or excuse offered. He just took the plate away, and a few minutes later returned with the correct plate. My mom actually ordered the New York strip, which was overcooked and according to her bite, my dads bite, and my brothers bite - was an inedible tough piece of meat. By the time Kevin returned to the table to check on entrees, everyone had finished their dinners, except for my mom. When she informed Kevin of the below-par quality of the steak, he once again did not apologize or offer another steak - he just removed the plate. By this point, Kevin has stopped talking to our table any more than he absolutely had too - he also maintained a permanent annoyed demeanor toward our table. We were then given complimentary dessert samples for the birthday and graduation. We also ordered dessert coffees. Overall, the cost of the meal was over $700 with a graduation deduction and the removal of my moms inedible steak. For the amount of money spent at this restaurant, we were certainly hoping for much better food as well as dining experience. We will never return to this location, nor any of the Ruth's Chris at all. The price point is much too high for the quality of food and service they are offering. Clearly this is such a shame as my family was not shy to spend the money that needed to be spent that night. Kevin missed out on a great opportunity to impress and show charm not only for himself, but also for the business itself. My family has a lot of connections, and it is sad that this 'word-of-mouth' experience will not be great for Ruth's Chris. Furthermore, I would suggest to anyone looking to dine here - LOOK ELSEWHERE. The Keg is a great option; I'm sure even Moxies could offer better food and service. Safe yourself the bad experience as well as your wallet, and skip Ruth's Chris altogether.

One of the best most elegant restaurant that Edmonton has to offer! From the moment that the hostess takes your coat, seats you & takes your order. Everything is served top notch, just hearing the steaks sizzling as they deliver to your table, along with the buttery aroma you KNOW YOUR MEAL will be heaven at first bite. It never disappoints. Each & every time.

Service was amazing. The restaurant was very elegant. The food was hot and ok. But for the money I would go to the keg. 70$ for a steak. No steak spice or marinate. Just salt and pepper.

I took my parents out for a family dinner. Being someone who loves dining, surprisingly, I have never tried the place before. We were very casual at best: jeans, t-shirts, and sandals... but we got treated really nicely. The manager did actually come to greet us, and asked how we felt about everything. I had the T-bone steak, my mom had the NewYork steak, and my dad had the seafood trio for main course. We did have a bit of the Lobster Bisque soup for starter, but it turned out to be salty, we had to ask for lemon wedges to squeeze in. They did offer another salad or soup to make up for it, but we declined. We also had coffee for dessert which they used a good roast for that. Over all, the experience was great. The bill was not cheap but we are very happy. Definitely coming back again!!! One thing I would say is maybe spending some more time explain on how the menu works, as it could be confusing for first-timer. Nonetheless, thank you!

Went for my anniversary and I sent back the calamari. And I ordered crab legs as my entry and got them before my butter so all my meat was cold time I could eat it and my side was creamed spinach and it was bland. For $225 for 2 people with no alcohol defiantly wasn't worth it when also having to pay $18 to park

Went for anniversary dinner last night, had a great experience. Started with a Caesar salad. Steak and chicken both amazing. The 3 cheese scalloped potatoes were great along with asperigus. Wrapped it up with cheese cake. Would go again worth the price.

After years of wanting to eat here, I did. Ordered a porterhouse steak med rare. The steak was to thick therefore undercooked. The place is nice. Had to park across the street at ATB for free parking. All in all not impressed, I may have just ordered the wrong dish. 125$ steak and not impressed.

I have been eating here and hosting events here for ten years - always an excellent experience and my guests leave pleased, as do I. Love having the option of Alberta or USDA beef and sometimes I just want crispy skin chicken stuffed with cream cheese. Very accommodating for most all requests. Recommend for private events and also dinner.

I have never had a less than excellent meal at Ruth's Chris in Edmonton. It is one of our go to places for special occasions. The food is always consistently good and the service is top notch!

First time at a Ruth's Chris Steak House, and loved it! I went in just as they opened, was the only one in there which was nice. The steak was pricey but when it came out, and I took my first bite, it was worth every penny. Thank you for an amazing dinner!

Great food. Excellent service. Our server Paris was lots of fun. Added to the atmosphere. If your worried about your budget, this is not the place to go.

Amazing melt in your mouth love. It was our anniversary and the staff brought us out a desert platter (compliment of house) and you get to try a bit of everything. The next day am writing this and dreaming of the banana cream pie! Unlike anything else you've ever tried

Went to Ruth's Chris Steak House last night for Date Night. Was absolutely amazing. The steak was cooked at a perfect medium-rare, the vegetables were fresh and perfectly spiced (tomato had a minty finish). The house Merlot – extremely smooth and slightly fruity – was the best Merlot I've ever tried. Will definitely come back! #foodgasm

$283 and change was the bill for My girl and I. Spending that kind of money if not more is not an issue for us by any means however for the fatty steak and chewy ass lobster tail I was not taken away by this dawg food. The server "Curtis" was slow as hell. Took 10 minutes for a server to come then another 12 mins for the drinks to come. I wanted to leave but the only reason we stayed is because my girl insisted. I haven't been in over 3-4 years and now I remember why. When your location in Cancun, MEXICO is better then here in Edmonton you guys have an issue. Go to Vons!!!!!! #horseshit #getmeagiftcardtovonsforthatsavagedinner

I was extremely disappointed with my steak. Over cooked and no flavor. Staff was great, was there for a Christmas Party.
