A quaint diner located in a line of other businesses, a real gem worth taking the time to discover! I just had a lunch there today, ambiance was lively, and you can tell this is the place the locals are proud to call their own! I was definitely the new kid on the block as this was my first visit. Most definitely this won’t be my last visit. Food portions were generous and presentation was good! Staff were attentive, and courteous! They take Covid restrictions seriously and are always cleaning up the place. The only recommendation I have is when serving the beef dip or Philly steak, ask if the bread should be served grilled on the side. I found my sandwich to be soggy on arrival, I can’t stand soggy bread on a sandwich, it’s ironic knowing that I’ll dip that same sandwich in sauce, hence beef dip! My opinion I think when plated the bread shouldn’t be soggy!This place chefs up breakfast all day and lunch till 4pm. I don’t see that their open for dinner, unsure if this is due to Covid or if it’s always been this way. Parking is tight and parking lot today was super Icy, so be careful and don’t slip and fall. My belly was full and I had my jacket on and I had even paid the bill. The kind waitress looked at me and said this is your first time here, you can’t leave without trying the pie, I’ll give you a piece on the house. So what did I do, I took off my jacket and ate some pie. I have never in my life ate pineapple pistachio pie and let me tell you, it was the best pie I’ve ever had!! Don’t let this gem be left, take the time to check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

It was a great choice to visit this place for all day breakfast & lunch. French onion soup was wonderful. My pouched eggs were done the way I like. There are many other choices for breakfast and I can see they all look delicious.

Always good food and great options. Every time I come here I have a great experience, the food is on point and service is great. However this time something was off. Not sure what happened… my wife ordered the eggs Benedict with the sauce on the side, I order the steak and eggs. We also order an order of French toast which we said we like to have after our meal. Guess what? My wife got her meal not the way she asked, my order was good and guess what… we got the French toast at the same time. So we had very cold French toast for dessert which we did not want. This wreck the experience completely. Don’t get me wrong the food was great, but was disappointed with the level of attention and service from our waitress. Time to pay.. which took forever to get around to. As always I tip well, I feel everyone deserved a good tip. When it was all set and done our waitress didn’t even say “thank you or see you again” which I thought it was insane. Just walked away and moved to the next person. Anyways.. maybe it was an off day and hopefully my next visit is better. I do like this place and I hope the take my constructive criticism well and not be mad at me for being harsh. Iconic Edmonton diner in the northwest! It’s not all hype - the food is really good and the service is really quick. The atmosphere is great and the decor really gives off that old school diner feel. Definitely something to check out! I would recommend the eggs benedict.

Great little dinner! Happy people, great food (omg the pancakes were so fluffy!!) and good coffee. Totally a tiny gem if you are in the area. Very decorated in fun vintage things so interesting things to look at while you eat.

Enjoyed every moment while I was there, somewhat wished the breakfast came with a bit more toast instead of choosing to have French toast with it instead of toast and hash browns with steak and eggs.. I would have paid more but I misread the menu, I’m a beast though. Still loved it, outstanding service and owner was definitely there to put in the extra work. Love it.

I love diners! If you love heading out for breakfast with loved ones then this is a diner that won’t disappoint. Everyone was inviting and the food was amazing. I wish I had room for one of the delicious looking pies they had on display but I will save that for the next time. I can’t wait to eat here again!

Highly recommend!!!! Came here for our companys friday lunch and was the best choice my boss made. We all were extremely happy with our meals, was incredibly delicious. Friendly staff and such a neat little place! I ordered the Rueben Sandwhich with Poutine and Coconut Cream pie, not one bad comment on any of it. I will definitely be stopping by there again.

I stopped in on Friday for the first time, and it is excellent! Food was great, as was the service, and the owners very friendly. In conversation, they said they married each other for their signature recipes. I have to say, given how my meal turned out, it was obviously a marriage in heaven. I'd highly recommend to anyone, especially those wanting what is hard to find anymore: a diner that isn't like the cookie cutter chains, with food that tastes home-made - because it is.

I don't live in Wellington anymore and I miss being able to walk to Hathaway's for brunch. It's so worth the drive, though!! Literally everything on the menu is amazing and the staff is just tremendous! If you go more than once, they will remember you--its like Cheers but with Eggs Benedict and friggin' amazing coffee! I'd give it ten stars if I could.

It is a treat to come to Hathaway's! You feel like family when you walk in the door. I've yet to be disappointed by a meal, the home-made pie is like nothing else, and my coffee cup was never empty!

My daughter Ryan and partner Carl first brought me there while Wayne was golfing and it was really a great treat, hospitality, service and food absolutely wonderful, so I brought Wayne and he felt the same as I did. A really friendly atmosphere.

This place is exactly what one would expect it to be. It's comfortable, friendly and you can sense family. The food comes swiftly and it is delicious (I can only attest to the breakfast items). We live in the neighborhood of Hathaway's, but if we didn't, I imagine we would mosey on to the NW of Edmonton just to enjoy it again.

The boyfriend and i are planning on making this place a regular thing for us! Awesome food and friendly staff!

The service here is always incredible. I get treated like family every time I go. It's become a Saturday morning tradition for me ever since I moved into the neighborhood. The food is incredible, the staff are attentive and the atmosphere rocks.

Don't mess with the classics. Who doesn't love a good, comforting diner experience? It feels wholesome and right. When Avenue Magazine said that Hathaway's was the Best Diner 2020 I had to check them out for myself. Located in Wellington, they're in a part of the city that I don't normally venture into. However, they've been around for over 13 years (which I didn't realize!) and have been making people happy with their filling meals ever since. In fact, they only do breakfast and lunch so don't be rolling in expecting to grab some eats later in the day. When I arrived on a Saturday morning there were customers outside waiting to get in - probably a good sign that people like this place. It didn't take too long (and the weather was lovely, making an outdoor wait pleasant) before we were seated inside at a table with a shiny aluminum top. The restaurant is cute and small, offering tons of kitsch all over the place. The floor is checkerboard and there are knickknacks as far as the eye can see. It's what you want your diner to be, honestly. The music was also very good. I think that they were just playing the radio (which feels like a Saturday morning to me, complete with the smell of bacon in the air) but I liked all of the songs. Our server was extremely friendly and happily collected our order. Although I will say that the service was a bit on the slow side and we felt somewhat forgotten about on several occasions. The restaurant was completely full of customers and I understand that it was a busy time of day. But still, a little more attention when needed would've been nice.<br/><br/>Hathaway's offers extra special things on Saturdays! For example, they only make eggs benedict on Saturday. There's an entire whiteboard devoted to the day's specials but it was the Drink Special which caught my eye: Mimosa (Champagne & orange juice - $6.99). I normally order black tea when I have breakfast in a diner setting but I figured that this was a good opportunity to treat myself! Unfortunately our server forgot about my mimosa and I had to ask for it a second time, hoping to receive it before the meal was finished. But it did arrive and was super cute with a cherry on top. Unfortunately, I found myself asking if there was any champagne in it at all (or if they had forgotten it). I'm used to a much more obvious taste of champagne and effervescence, of which this had barely any. Seemed pretty expensive for a flute of orange juice (not fresh-squeezed).<br/><br/>There are tons of breakfast options on the menu and the majority of them are exactly the types of dishes that you hope for when you visit a diner. They do skillets and omelettes, as well as the aforementioned eggs benedict on Saturdays. However, I was in the mood to go ultra classic - it seemed like the right thing to do. Hence the Breakfast Classics with Bacon or Sausage (2 eggs any style, served with your choice of toast & homemade hashbrowns or pancakes - $11.99) being the choice for me. The food itself was served quite quickly and an ideal plate of breakfast comfort food was laid before me. I also enjoyed that our server automatically brought two different types of hot sauce to our table, which I appreciated as a hot sauce-loving kind of girl. I ordered my eggs "over-medium," which is the way to go in my opinion. This cook tends to avoid any of the white being runny, which I personally dislike. These eggs were done perfectly! A few shakes of salt and pepper on top and they were exactly the way that I like them. I went with the toast and hashbrowns as opposed to pancakes. I was offered about three different types of bread to choose from and selected the sourdough. Nicely buttered, I loved the slightly tart flavour of the sourdough and enjoyed adding peanut butter and strawberry jam to my slices. The hashbrowns were pleasantly tender, however I found them a little light for my taste. I would have preferred a bit more crispy browning which would have added a bit more flavour. But after some salt and some ketchup and hot sauce to dip into, they were acceptable. I chose bacon as my meat and requested that it be prepared "extra crispy." And it was! The bacon was served exactly the way that I like it, nice and crispy, without any chewy fatty parts. I was also impressed at the amount of bacon served on the plate, as I'm sure that I was given at least four strips. This meal was pretty darn close to ticking every box in terms of creating a comforting, classic breakfast plate.<br/><br/>I couldn't leave before getting some pie! Hathaway's is known for serving amazing homemade pies and of course I wanted to try a slice. On my visit there were nine different types to choose from. However, we waited and waited and no one returned to clear away our breakfast dishes or to ask if we wanted anything else or even to drop off a bill. Eventually my husband got up and went up to the cash to pay for our meal and while doing so he asked for a slice of Flapper Pie to-go. Flapper pie is a TOTAL prairie-Canada thing. I'd never even heard of it before moving to the west. It is made with a vanilla custard topped with meringue on a graham cracker crust. It's a lot of fluffy textures and pleasingly sweet flavours. This was a great version of the iconic flapper and I especially liked the addition of graham cracker on top for a bit of added bite.<br/><br/>Hathaway's Diner is the complete opposite of an upscale, pretentious brunch joint. And while I believe that there is a time and place for both, sometimes you just want a diner that will give you exactly what you grew up with, because that's what's in your heart. Hathaway's does a pretty good job of offering exactly that.

Stopped in here for lunch. Great food. Everyone working here was full of smiles and the atmosphere was fantastic. Cozy and clean. Truly a hidden gem. Will be back for sure.

Really quick tasty breakfast. The place filled up quick though and there is limited seating, so there was a bit of a wait at the door. Owner greets you at the table and is very friendly.

Had the eggs benny. Tasted really good! This is a wicked little hidden gem. Small and cozy atmosphere. Well worth it to check out if you want to have a nice home style meal.

Why did I wait so long to eat here?! Lower ambient lighting and a cozy small seating area makes it a very comfortable setting. The food is diner food of amazing quality you can tell there is a sense of pride by the cook in the meal you are served. Wife/husband run establishment and I highly recommend eating here. <br/><br/> Ps. The home-made pie is delicious.<br/><br/> Waitress had great timing for visiting table(not when you've a mouthful of food), very fast to offer refreshing your coffee. Wow!! What a fantastic little gem!! My friend and I were staying downtown after a concert and looking for great breakfast.. we googled and Hathaways came up! It was delicious.. it's an affordable diner and our server ( and owner) Pam made us feel like family!! I had on her recommendation..hamburger steak and eggs.. omg .. delicious!! I will definitely be back!! Looking forward to trying one of their homemade pies!! Thanks Pam!!

Small, but thats partly what makes it so great! Excellent food, the friendliest of service and everything is homemade. The daily pies are to so for! Slightly pricey, but the quality backs that up.

This quaint and unpretentious diner was a hit with my family! The food was not greasy and had healthy options while still delivering the comforts of a good brunch. The service was particularly remarkable (even the owner was working and chatted with us, and came outside to give us the leftovers we had left on our table). My family will certainly come back here again when in the area!

Perfect little diner! First time visiting and the ladies working were so lovely. The atmosphere was quaint and authentic including the people inhabiting the space. I had the most perfect clubhouse with real pulled turkey, and the soup was amazing too!

Dozens of them!<br/>Award winning pies!<br/>Every flavour you can imagine and twice as many flavours you couldn't imagine!!<br/><br/>Breakfast is also fantastic, particularly the hash browns. When hash browns are this good you know the eggs Benedict are going to kick ass, and they do. Homemade Hollandaise sauce to die for, unfortunately I've only ever seen the Benny's on Sat. Doesn't matter though because every farm fresh egg they prepare for you is done to perfection. 6 types of breads to choose from. Thick sliced bacon and savoury sausage!

When you enter this little place it is always full of energy. Have gotten to go but also like sitting at the back table. Usually get breakfast. Have had their pie as well. All staff is nice.

A cozy, busy, family-run business that speaks Edmonton family history all over it.  Creative, down-to-earth, and suitable for all ages, this is one place you want to impress your date with by going to a non-chain restaurant.  The service was friendly and I felt like I was in a "You Gotta Eat Here" episode.  The prices are also pretty nice.  Doesn't break the bank or nothing.  The worst thing about the whole experience was probably the super uncomfortable booth seats.  I felt like I was sinking to the middle and away from the table.  I had to lean forward to eat and I just wanted to GTFO ASAP throughout my meal.<br/><br/>Speaking of my meal.  You know all those nice things I said above?  While they are all true, I don't think I'll be back any time soon.  Why?  Because the food actually didn't taste all that special.  It felt like something I can slap together at home if I really tried.  I guess that is a good thing in that they didn't add too much salt/oil etc in the food.  Everything just tasted really plain.  It really felt like a grocery store bought ingredients to your table type meal.  If it is farm-to-table then please correct me.  The presentation was nice and all but the taste is just not there.  But, at the end of the day, I feel like people come here not for the food, but for the friendly staff and atmosphere.  So being the foodie that I am, what I said is not entirely relevant to non-foodies.  <br/><br/>You have to come here at least once to see it for yourself though.

I haven't been here in a few years. But this place is just as good if not better than before. The service is great and super friendly. Place is always busy so seating and wait times could be an issue. But it's worth it. Pretty much anything and everything on the breakfast menu is awesome. Along with the pies. I had the big breakfast. Eggs, toast , heaping mound of hashbrowns, sausages, ham, bacon. All perfectly done. <br/><br/>This place is truely like finding a diamond in a rough. Hard to beat great food and a great family style atmosphere nestled away in a cozy neighborhood. 5+++ <br/>

Arrived just before noon on a Wednesday and it was packed, we waited a few minutes to be served by the very friendly staff. Great staff that are very friendly and attentive, we had a burger and veal parmigiana and it arrived very quickly and tasted great, we are already planning when to go back to get breakfast!

It's always busy here. I've been here twice, the owner? Is very nice and comes around and socializes with people asking how the food is Etc. love how she's connecting with her customers. She told us that the sausages are home made which is a + . Our coffees are always refilled without being asked & food comes out very quickly. I've tried the eggs Benny and breakfast special both very food ! Will definitely go back to try the home made pies one day .

Great food, great service. The servers are always checking in to see if you need anything. They offer hot sauce and hp sauce, which I love. Everyone is always smiling and happy to see the customers.

My family and I go there occasionally for early breakfast and we always enjoy and good meal and nice atmosphere, and great, smiling, staff.  The spinach eggs benny are the best!!

Great little Diner!. We are visiting Edmonton and we found this little diner on our first day. The staff are super friendly, the process are great considering how much food you get, and the food quality is great! Highly recommend.

I'll wait to rate this restaurant properly until I can actually try it. We arrived at 11:00am on Saturday, July 25, 2015, disappointed to find it closed. We had checked all available sources of information and they all indicated the place would be open on the 24th.

Went here for breakfast sandwich and it was good and tasty diner food.  Prices are reasonable and friendly services.  They are a good neighbourhood restaurant with a simple menu.

Hathaway's Diner is in a random neighborhood and it's a pretty small diner. I would say that it's about 5 minutes from the Skyview area. If you go around lunch time, chances are that you'll probably have to wait for a table. The diner is very quaint though and service is super friendly. Side note that they're closed Sundays and Mondays and opened 7-4 pm the other days. They serve breakfast, lunch, and pies along with daily specials. The prices are reasonable cheap and the food portions are sure filling!

Love this place! Good home cooked style food, great service! Never had a bad experience and have been here countless times. Try the pie - it's yummie!!! My only advice to customers - go early on the weekends as it's fills up quick, and check their hours on their website before going as they are not open 7days a week.

Great service!. As soon as we walked in with our seven month old we were taken to a great corner table and they got a highchair for us. The owners are the waitress and cook and her mom also waits tables there.<br/>She was super friendly and informative. The food was delicious (we both had the breakfast). Everything tasted homemade. My husband had the milkshake for dessert and it was great.<br/>We plan on going back next time we are in edcity

Finally tried the Lime Berry Pie today and it was amazing.<br/><br/><br/>-----21 Mar, 2015-----<br/><br/>My husband and I tried Hathaways this morning and it was wonderful. As soon as we walked in the door it felt comfortably and as if we had been invited into their home. The energy of the place was warm, upbeat and welcoming. The food was real, cooked and flavoured well and completely satisfying. It didn't need anything to add to it or mask anything else. I have not a single complaint and look forward to going back again soon. Hopefully next time we will have room to try some pie.

Hm, what to say about Hathaway’s Diner? Co-workers of mine absolutely adore this place and always seem to get take out from them. I’ve tried their takeout but I always prefer going to a restaurant, it’s just so much better. The aroma coming from the kitchen, people watching, being served, the list goes on and on. If you’ve never been to Hathaway’s before, it is tucked away in a random, residential area. Blink and you’ll probably miss it...

Hidden Gem. This was the first time trying hathaway's diner and I absolutely fell in love this place. The food is delicious and the pie is to die for! It is welcoming with fantastic service from the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out.

Closed for the holidays.. Just called to make sure I'd they are open. Off for Christmas week back on 27th and i think they close for new years. Call them to confirm. A voice mail announcement will come on after six to eight rings.

Feeling snubbed. We sat there for 5 mins without even a hello from the staff, we had 2 different waitressss say they would be right with us! ( 1waitress was the owner) no one came around for another 4 mins ( meanwhile 2 gentlemen walked in & were served immediately) <br/>They were more concerned with clearing dirty dishes! Well I would just like to say if you don't have Paying customers , you won't have dirty dishes! Pay attention to your customers regardless if they're regulars or not !!

It's always a treat to dine there. My boyfriend and I have been going to this gem of a place for over five years. The quaint, homey feel to it is heart warming. Feels like a hug! Home cooked, real food; super friendly staff; a wonderful mix of diners! <br/>There was real chunks of meat in the soup, and real turkey on my sandwich! A crazy wonderful mix of old, young, casual and smart dressed patrons; and they we're cross talking among tables..... Lots!!! One table even paid for the lunch of the table beside them! I have never felt part of a restraunt before, and I can't wait to go back!!!!......and save room for pie!

Diamond in the Rough. One of best one of a kind (i.e. non-chain) places in Edmonton. Got the big breakfast and a chocolate shake. Both were nothing but great. Place is tiny, and I'm thankfully for that. People are friendly and really nice. Feels like I'm eating in my grandmothers kitchen. Will 100% go back. Going to be a regular place. The hours are kind of wonky, but that's an easy thing to look past.

Hospitality & Homemade food!. We found Hathaway's Diner a wonderful spot to eat lunch in! Clean, cozy & cheerful there was a steady flow of customers. I had a cup of their home made beef & barley soup paired with a bacon, lettuce & tomato sandwich on brown bread. Epitome of Deliciousness!!!. Went with my sister and friend to breakfast here today and we all got the special Jambalaya Omlette with toast and hashbrowns and all I can say is this is the most amazing breakfast I have ever have. All of us will be back. The host staff is wonderful, friendly and super attentive. This is tucked away in a older neighborhood strip mall and is the definition of a hidde Gem. I purchased a key lime strawberry and raspberry pie to go and have to say it is to die for! You Have to eat here!!!! To not do so would be to do yourself an injustice. ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!! Couldn't be better and can't wait to come back. Great to see another amazing restaurant on the northside!!! They are few and far between!!!

Pam you're a Dish. Hathaway's, it's is a little gem tucked away in an old neighbourhood. Wonderful service, wonderful family, Pam is just a doll, I love her. Have the Beef Dip, if it was allowed I would order the au jus as soup it's really that good! The daily specials are amazing, the atmosphere is amazing. <br/>Perfect little 5++++++ star restaurant

Good Comfort Food. My boyfriend and I went here after reading some reviews on Urbanspoon and were pleasantly surprised when we walked through the door. We came at 1pm on Saturday and were seated almost immediately and were greeted by all three of the friendly servers.<br/><br/>We ordered pancakes/bacon, tomato soup, and the big breakfast. The food was out quickly and was well cooked, tasty, and service was fast. During our entire visit there were no more than two tables open and the small restaurant easily accommodated groups up to six people.<br/><br/>We easily could have been in and out of the restaurant in half an hour making it an excellent lunch place.<br/><br/>We'll definitely be back to try out the lunch menu.

Best Breakfast. The first time I ate here I was pleasantly surprised! It is a very small diner located off the beaten path, the food here is excellent and the service the same!! Whenever I go for breakfast now this place is always my choice. Husband and wife team, he does the main cooking and she makes to die for pies. Don't leave without a piece of pie!! The only complaint I have is they are not open on Mondays.

Unexpectedly good!. It can be hit or miss with these kind of mom and pop shops but we went there for lunch during our meeting and it was great! I had the hot turkey sandwich with fries and it was delicious. Would recommend and will be back

A REAL True Blue Diner!. Very good food & excellent service. Very basic straight forward comfort food, which all of us need at some time to enjoy(nothing overly fancy). I definitely will return many times!

Hidden Gem. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and with perfect timing the brunch rush had passed. We had learned about this diner looking for new breakfast spots and had come across this diner which was not to far from home. Our server was very friendly and had treated us very graciously. Saturday is the only day they have eggs Benedict which is our favorite, so we had ordered two. The food came out promptly, and the dish looked great. The eggs were poached perfectly, a classic eggs Benedict. We will definitely be back for the food and great service. This is definitely a hidden gem !

Best breakfast north of the river!<br/><br/>We went on a Saturday at 11.30. We were 4th in line but that went by quick. Once seated we had coffees immediately. We did wait a while to have our order taken, but once it was the food was at the table quick. <br/><br/>I am GF and they were very knowledgeable about what I could have. Most of their items are made in house so they can tell you exactly what's in them (their hash browns for example!)<br/><br/>I had the skillet - delicious.<br/>My husband eggs and pancakes. The eggs were perfect! (Says home!) and the pancakes great.<br/><br/>Coming again for sure.

Attention Breakfast Lovers. This is a small diner within a residential area stip mall, and is a gem in the rough, once you've tried it you'll see what I mean. The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. I've been going here for years & years and keep going back. One day when Pam (the waitress) asked the guy behind us what he wanted in his omelette, she said "anything as long as it isn't green!" , they are very accommodating with making revisions to ingredients you may not like. Even if you don't think you like pancakes, seriously you will here.

Delicious burger and soup! Owner is so friendly and welcoming. Her and her husband take great pride in their restaurant. Such a cozy space. Also as a side note its a nursing friendly place for all you breast feeding mamas!!

Hands down my favourite breakfast place of all time. Affordable, quick, comfortable, and unbelievably good quality, this place can't be touched. The owners are super friendly, and accommodating and make you feel like your part of the family. I will go here as often as I can for as long as they are around. A must try. Pancakes are not from this world... Unbelievable. It's a bit odd that they aren't open on Sundays but I forgive them just because of the amazing food and unprecedented service.

Went here once and the service was very friendly and quick and the food was even better. Went here a second time and our experience was almost the complete opposite. We sat at our table waiting for a waitress to take our order but instead one wandered aimlessly around occasionally stopping at tables that had been served already for a casual chat. While the other waitress took the orders of people who had arrived to the restaurant after us. This went on for about 15 minutes before I couldn't take it any longer and stood up and shouted "what's wrong with you people? Am I crazy? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!" While flailing my arms about. I then paid for my juice and exited the restaurant as I was going to be late for my appointment to buy a hammock.

Service was very friendly and food came fast despite the lunch rush at 12:30.<br/><br/>Room was small and cozy with kitchy decor.<br/><br/>Portions are big for the price.<br/><br/>Great home made burger. No fancy crap, no kobe this or applewood that, just a moist and meaty patty with great fresh toppings on a tender bun. Bacon and cheese extra.<br/><br/>The pie was ok. The home made filling (mix berry} was good but the crust mushy, not flaky, nothing to write home about. Fun place to eat and the people are really friendly. The waitress held are cranky 8 month old while my husband and I ate our pie :) the burger was great, or so my husband says, he didn't share. I had the Reuben sandwich which was good. The coffee shake was awesome as was the coconut cream pie. Yum yum.

Omg, sooo delicious. Friendly service and great food from the little restaurant tucked into a Wellington community strip mall. <br/><br/>I had the Big Breakfast. Eggs cooked perfectly, hash browns to die for, yummy bacon and sausage. I would like to go back in time and eat it all over again. My wife had a yummy Turkey, cheese and salsa omelette and my daughter had a 3 stack of pancakes. Everyone left super happy with full bellies. <br/><br/>Come on down for breakfast for sure. Tempted to stop by just to try their delicious range of pies.

Delicious food and great people!!!. We went on a Saturday around 1 or so and it was a bit busy but totally work it!! It was like visiting a friends home, our waitress was the owner and her husband is the cook. She told us a story about how she fell in love with him because of his cooking skills =). I had the omelette with hash browns which one of the best I have ever had, My girlfriend had the turkey sandwich with the beef barley soup (soup of the day) which was real carved turkey and homemade soup. Amazing!!!! Took a slice of their famous homemade pie to go and it was equally delicious. Looking forward to going back to try their supposed "best burgers in the city".

Amazing home cooked food. This place is great. The food is always phenomenal and I'm always shocked at how small the bill is. The owners and staff are always friendly and accommodating. They even made me special non-menu items for breakfast because don't like pork. It's like breakfast at your mom's but you don't have to do dishes and they don't scold you when you want pie for breakfast.

Great first impression. My husband, toddler and I went to Hathaway's for the first time this morning. We've recently moved into the neighbourhood and were interested to check out this little diner. It was great! The service was fast and friendly, they made us all feel welcome, the food came fast and was yummy. Even our picky son liked his pancakes and bacon. We'll definitely be back, and often.

Chatty Server. The food is decent and the price is okay but the server takes way to long to get to the table, it just seems like she is just to busy talking to every single person in the building.<br/>Who wants to wait 30 minutes before even getting asked if you want coffee.<br/>Also the server seems to have this habit of putting her hand on peoples backs which I did not appreciate at all, I believe in personal space and I really felt uncomfortable with having mine violated in such a manner.<br/>I for one won't being gong back

Hot Turkey Heaven. Greatest diner in Edmonton! The Hot Turkey Sandwich is to die for! Pancakes and pies like you've never had before. So friendly and you can always make new friends when it busy enough to have you sitting with people you're just meeting at that moment. Now that's a down home experience!

I have been coming to this diner at least once a week for almost 2 years now and I have not been unsatisfied by any meal I have gotten! The food and service is absolutely outstanding!

Absolutely a little gem. We recently moved to this area and found this amazing little place. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly hostess that made us feel welcome. The food was served quickly and was delicious but most of all it was all homemade. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and I can see why this place is hard to get into!

I randomly found Hathaway's Diner on Urbanspoon and I loved my entire experience. We were greeted by friendly staff and were made to feel right at home. I had the breakfast special which lived up to my high personal standards and will definitely be recommending to others. A great experience overall. 5 stars!

Blast from the past. Consistently good food, old-school diner style. Try the burger, you won't regret it. Good service, with lots of personality - I see this as a plus; could be a bit surprising if you're used to the apathetic service you typically get at restaurants. This whole strip mall has a small-town feel with locally owned businesses - check out the bakery and hardware store next door.

Pam and Lyle are two amazing people running a one of a kind place. My boy friend tool me there on a date and we try and go back at least once every couple of weeks. Pam makes the most amazing pie that most of them time I don't get to because Lyles food is soooooo good. My fav is the steak sandwidge with mashed tadders. They are always friendly and it's so nice to go somewhere that they know your name and always have a smile. And a naughty joke every once in a while. A good home cooked meal and warm friendly people is the perfect place to be for us.

Food is awesome. A little gem. Place gets so busy it is sometimes hard to get service but relax sit back and enjoy the atmosphere and great food.

Food is good. But do I really have to wait 10 mins just to get a hi and a water. Then after I get a coffee it takes forever to get cream.

First time here for breakfast and it is excellent. Busy spot even on a Wednesday morning, you can tell it's a local favorite. The service was phenomenal, very friendly and personal. I met the owner mentioned in a prior review and I feel that the reviewer may be an overly sensitive or uptight person. A friendly "do you guys live in the neighborhood?" is just good service and it is refreshing to meet someone who seems to genuinely love what they do. The food is very good and reasonably priced and the restaurant, while not large, has a good amount of seating for the space and is very comfortable. We will be returning.

Food=Good, Dining Experience=Needs Improvement. I love the food from Hathaways. It's fresh, it's homemade, and it's delicious. I don't like dining at the restaurant however. It's a small space, and trying to get in to eat sometimes seems impossible. Ordering for takeout is our family's solution. As well, one of the owners makes many of my family and friends dining there feel uncomfortable. She seems like a nice person with good intentions, but being "touchy-feely" with diners, and constantly commenting on things (sometimes inappropriately) isn't condusive to comfortable dining. A little more personal space would be appreciated. <br/><br/>That said, we drive clear across the city for a good meal from Hathaways, so it's definitely worth recommending this restaurant. I just wish they were open for dinner!

I’d say these 2 contenders make a pretty good version of the humble hamburger and if you go with that expectation in mind you’ll be satisfied. If you go expecting a big, thick, gourmet burger, oozing with fancy toppings, you’ll be disappointed. I can’t say that either were particularly remarkable in any specific way, but I’d be happy to pound either one back when a craving hits.
