Review Sap Siam Bistro - Duncan

Ordered take-out: red curry with prawns, double chicken, coconut rice, and an order of chicken satay. It was fantastic. The flavour of the curry was unreal. Chicken satay cooked perfectly with delicious peanut sauce. Total was 45$ with the extra protein added. I think I would have been disappointed if I didn’t add the extra meat. I ordered ‘hot’ but I’m wondering if they have an extra hot option as I didn’t find it very spicy. The rice was delicious and fluffy as well. 10/10 will be ordering again when I find myself in Duncan.

A little hole in the wall mom and pop shop with some the best Thai food I've tasted in BC. I adore the pad thai with both chicken and tofu just the way I like it! The curries are flavorful. Love the spring rolls with their in house sauce. A bit $$ given ambiance but the food and portion size make it worth it. Also first Thai place that actually makes the food spicy enough to my tastes. My favorite part of the year I've spent living in Duncan.

One of the best Thai spots in the area. Much more than just Phad Thai. Nice lunch combo options. Fresh ingredients. Great service. Good parking options. Ample room for families and kids.

While this is cooling i have to say the first couple bits were awesome! Prawns, chicken, vegetables, everything perfectly executed in my foodie opinion. The vegetable spring rolls were awesome too. Especially with my sweet chili thai sauce. Always nice when your first experience is positive.

The Pad Thai at this place is awesome! I doubt you'll find larger portions anywhere. This is authentic delicious comfort Thai cuisine. The restaurant is a bit dated but the food more than makes up for it.

While the food was delicious and a wide variety of vegetarian dishes are available, the restaurant itself needs significant cleaning. Tables, walls and windows are greasy and cobwebs are on furniture and pictures. Please clean and we’ll come back and give better reviews

Love the food but feel it’s to expensive now. Pad Thai with prawns is nearly $20. And comes with 5 pieces of prawn no other meat compared with mongrillian a place near buy that is $16 for more prawns and also has chicken in the dish and vegetables. This dish is noodles peanuts egg onion and 5 piece shrimp. Back when it was $15 it was a good deal and came with more shrimp then. I think 8 pieces. I get COVID made things cost more so I get the increase but the increase and meat cut backs makes it just a carbs meal. Which is fine. It tastes great. Just sad to see how things are. Next trip through this town we may still get it but an observation we have noticed.

Not high end looks, but high value and great tasting Thai food. Waitress was friendly, food was fast and and plentiful.

Called in an order for pick up(Chicken satay and the red curry pork ribs). Was told it would be ready in 20mins. I showed up 25-30 mins after I called, paid, then waited around for another 15-20 mins longer only to be told they didnt have the ingredients to make my order. <br/><br/>Other patrons were waiting 1 1/2 hours for their orders still( there were only 5 people when I arrived) and had another take out order walk out because they couldn't make what they ordered.<br/><br/>Very unprofessional overall. Won't be going back.

Great food, great service! Order the Curry or Tom Kha soup!. Everything is made fresh to order, tons of veggies in the soup, and the Curries and Tom Kha soup are a perfect combo of fresh and spicy flavour!! Best Thai food I've ever had, Island or mainland :D

Duncan was overdue for some great Thai street food. This place is quaint and charming and has very fresh, good Thai food It's not quite on par with some of the best in Victoria, but it is great and seems to get better all the time. Thank you for giving Duncan something to eat besides pub fare and fast food!

Best Thai Food. This restaurant is warm and inviting and has fresh, authentic Thai food made by a chef (May) from Bangkok. The green curry is one of the best I've had - and I've traveled throughout Thailand! Well worth a visit in quaint Duncan.

Great little homestyle thai. I love this place. Its cute, friendly, and feels like the tropics in Duncan. The are willing to add vegetables to anything and the salad rolls, satay, and salads are fresh and lovely. So far I've enjoyed the papaya salad, red curry, pad thai, and the cashew chicken. My only complaint was that I wished they used more bamboo shoots in the curry but that is because I love predictable things and I am used to finding them in thai food. The restaurant is clean and the owners are friendly and want you to learn about thai cuisine. I love that the pad thai tastes real and not like ketchup and that the food is fresh and healthy. Its a great choice for an affordable group dinner too! They were also super nice to my friend's toddler who needed some extra distraction. Totally worth returning.

Best Asian in Duncan, but needs improvement. It's difficult to find quality affordable asian cuisine in Duncan. I'm happy to find a 2nd Thai restaurant that has opened just 11 months ago. On a recent visit, I find that it's basically homestyle cooking with a few flaws. While their green curry (special) was tasty, spicy and well done, their appetizer are an afterthought and not prepped very well. The chicken wings are the tiniest you'll ever find and were slightly undercooked, with some raw meat near the bone. The lemongrass pork appie was tough, chewy and dry with just lemongrass flavour and no other complexity.<br/>The $4 price tag is appropriate, but then again, you get so much more for $4 at a chain restaurant (think wraps).<br/>They are licensed and their bottled beer prices ($5) are ok. Singha beer is great! <br/><br/>Service is very basic and the one young girl waiting on us initially and then disappearing needs a little more training.<br/>On the positive side, they offered a big vegetable plate free of charge along with extra rice for the delicious curry.<br/>Price are definitely affordable and I will return one more time for their curry, but will skip the appetizers.<br/><br/>I love Thai food and their competitor across town unfortunately started raising prices and lowering both quality and quantity of their servings, so after frequent visits before, I will now try Sai's Place a few more times, but will stick to the main dishes only.

Bad!. My wife and I went to Sai's for lunch and the waitress didn't seem to know much about the menu, nor was she very friendly. Ends up, she was also the cook. In fact she was the only person working there. Lunch ended up taking so long we had to ask it to be packed to go since it took an hour to prepare! Not that it was busy. There was on one other table of two! We ate the lunch for dinner and found it was less than ok quality. Never, ever going back!

Great Experience. We had a wonderful dinner - great to get out and try something different, and we were not disappointed. We shared the Labh salad - which was very very tasty, had the curry and the pad thai which was also really good. We are going to go again, and try and have something different on the menu each time. Very friendly staff and owners! Not everyone has the same taste - its an individual preference, so just because one person doesn't like it, doesn't mean you shouldn't try and decide for yourself.

Not very spicy. Tried the Vegetable soup, very bland..which was a shame. If you are doing a soup you have no where to hide. The Broth has to be flavourful!..not good enough to bring me back.

AMAZAZING FOOD. I have had the chance to try almost everything on the lunch and dinner menu and I have not yet been disappointed!! I recommend everyone to try. Great owners and staff, best part is that I like that everything is made fresh to order.

Great food!!. I don't usually go out of my way to reveiw a business (actually my first time) however I couldnt help it. <br/>My green curry was excellent, and the service was amazing.<br/>Highly reccomend anyone to give them a chance, because my experience was nothing like the negative reveiw I just read!<br/>Will definitely be back as soon as I happen to pass through duncan again.

Yup, real Thai food, if you love the worst of Khoa San Rd and cheap island guest house food.<br/>So disappointed.<br/>Ordered the Fried Noodles and Noodle Soup with Seafood.<br/>Fried Noodle was vermicelli with a red sauce tasting only of tinned tomato paste. Egg omelette just that.<br/>No attempt to make it interesting/balanced/a showcase of fresh ingredients etc.<br/>Noodle soup broth also boring and using same thin vermicelli noodles as the Fried Noodle dish. Owner brought me a bowl of beef instead of the ordered seafood and there wasn't enough broth to even cover the ingredients.<br/>Specifically asked for Very, Very spicy and with extra prick nam plaa (fish sauce with fresh Thai Chilis) on the side.<br/>Food arrived mild with the owners saying they don't make spicy because people don't know what spicy is and get complaints :-(<br/>After my meal the cook/owner came out from the kitchen to tell me her food was exactly as described on the menu and very traditional and that the tinned paste was overpowering. If overpowering, change the recipe!<br/>No side veggies offered for spicing, not even a lime wedge.<br/>Do I dare try the dinner menu? :-p<br/>Was really hoping for a great Thai place in Duncan :-(
