Review Yummies & Gyros Greek Cafe - Courtenay

I will never understand how this place is rated so highly. Midgrade food quality, the prices are unusually high for the amount and presentation($1.50 extra for hummus 🤔), and above all else, this is the most white washed restaurant I've ever experienced in my life. Not a single Greek individual in sight, owned and operated by a white woman(though she seemed nice). Zero authenticity

The other reviewers who give this restaurant praise have no sense of value or taste. Find a real Greek restaurant and educate yourselves. Edit: As a response to the disrespectful reply sent back by the owner to my review I'd just like to point out that I was actually having a really good day until I had the misfortune of being fooled by the Google reviews into stepping foot into this poor excuse of a Greek restaurant and based on the other replies I've read through it's clear the owner actively goes out of her way to delude herself into believing that her food is actually good and that her customers are the problem.

So yummy!! And a very nice surprise she’s celiac friendly. Thank you for lunch today “translucent looks good on you” 😂 We very much enjoyed the donairs and your fun personality.

Keyword SEASONING. Very bland and by far the worst donairs / gyros I have ever tasted. Reading the past reviews the owner seems to not accept this because he's been in business for 22 years . Well so has McDonald's . I don't understand how such bland food could have any good reviews. I have nothing to gain by writing this and have nothing against this place . This also isn't my first gyro as I'm Greek and have had thousands in my life time . Sorry but taste your own food and be better . Better yet try another restaurant in Nanaimo and compare .

Another great locally run business with yummy food. I don’t suggest eating on the go unless you’d like a lap full though

Given the wrong meat but we were already halfway home and werent wasting the gas. The kids combo says veggies, just lettuce? Chicken very bland.Very underwhelming.

Absolutely the best easy going people many options to add to your gyros or donair must try in the Valley!

Something awesome. Yummies not only has awesome food, but awesome service and a unique charm. No where else will you experience such an atmosphere with an awesome meal to boot. I will be going back again and again :D

Unique little place. Best gyros I've ever had, including many of the most popular ones down around English bay. It's a staple for lunch when in the valley.

-----09 Feb, 2014-----

The best gyros anywhere I've eaten! Different little cafe, but that's what makes it unique. Just make sure you follow the rules, you'll love it!

Good food, but not worth it! The owner is so rude! She got mad at my 3 year old for moving in his chair. And she just talks rude altogether. She doesn't kno when to be quiet and just let the customer be the customer. She even has a sign in there that says "no cell phone cafe" like as if to trll people they csnt use their phones. It is so uncomfortable to be in there. I don't understand how someone can have a business when they treat customers like that.

This cafe is not gluten-free friendly. They do not clean the station in between orders for gluten-free nor frankly do they have much knowledge about it. After ordering a gluten-free wrap, I was regarded as following a fad and when I specified it was an allergy, was told gluten-free is not an allergy. I am sure the rest of their meals are great, I just would not recommend anyone gluten-free eat there. Hummus was good though.

Yummy Gyros!. Funky little cafe, good-looking women and fantastic gyros and donairs. A place I frequent almost daily, I highly reccomend it.

Yes, That's a restaurant.... Pretty weird little set-up on Puntledge Ave but I have never been disappointed by the food.
Gyros are great, as is the Backlava. Wear a sweater in the winter though! Can be a little slow for "fast" food if busy but it's a 2 (or sometimes 1) person show so relax and it'll be ready in no time. And so much better than any other To-Go (or eat in) place.
