Review Whistle Stop Neighbourhood Pub - Courtenay

Allen Castromayor
When I first moved to the Comox Valley, one of the things that disappointed me the most was the lack of no nonsense pubs that had "wing Wednesday". IMO, pubs are incomplete if they 1) don't have daily specials, and 2) sell chicken wings. Thankfully, the Whistle Stop pub has both of these. I am vehemently opposed to paying full price for chicken wings. However, I will always prefer to go to a bar/pub who offers "wing nights", or other specials to give them my business and will try the rest of the menu. The Whistle Stop is not the fanciest pub in the valley, but that's part of the charm of this place. Good food, great service, and especially good food and drink specials. Would recommend.

Owner is rude to his waitress. When a patron defended her, he threatened to meet him outside. Not coming back. We loved going there before…business is closing, maybe he is stressed.

Craving a return visit to the Whistle Stop pub for its reasonably priced, expansive menu, good service, and the StoneGrill steak, I am really disappointed to come with friends to dine on a Monday night and saw a sign outside the entrance saying the kitchen was closed. But we ended up at at a sushi restaurant in Comox that was full of people and we discovered what I consider the best sushi place in the Comox Valley. So should I say thanks to the Whistle Stop??

Phoned to ask if they were proving their full menu on Father's Day. Yes from 11-3. Arrived at 12:30 and had a limited menu. Disappointing 😞

Great place to drink for a traveller with no where to go. $6 drafts, hell yeah. Great service friendly staff.

I had read a wide variety of reviews about this place but we wanted to give it a try to see for ourselves. It's a standard pub, maybe a little rough but the food was great. Service was good and we will definitely be back. If you're looking for upscale, this won't be for you but if you're like my BF and looking for a working man's pub give it a try. Try the oven baked creamy seafood lasagna....we shared it between us and highly recommend.
