Wang Ga Ma is an authentic Korean restaurant specialize in Korean stew. As they call themselves “Royal Village, King of Hot Pot”. It is located in the same plaza as H-Mart, Coquitlam. It’s very close to Kimbab Cheonguk. Also, just across the street from Black Milk Water cafe. Wang Ga Ma Exterior
This was a staple in my family as we used to go every weekend after church until we moved further away. I recently went back with my family and we noticed that the portions got smaller, and naturally the prices got higher, but the taste was still the same. We usually don't get typical dishes such as soondubu or bibimbap, but we rave about their side dishes and hotpots full of tender meat.
This place is always busy with a waiting line every time we tried to come. We managed to beat the crowd today for dinner. The spicy pork with rice was very good, with the right amount of spices. The bibimbap was reasonably good as well. The seafood tofu soup was originally, however.
After doing some Christmas shopping at Lougheed, Grayson and I decided to go for Korean food at Wang Ga Ma. We usually head over to Jong Ga for Korean but we decided to try something new that particular night. The restaurant was packed by the time we got in there and being that it was a weekend and a rainy day, it made sense. In comparison to most Korean restaurants, the menu was quite limited. Instead of having eight pages of items to choose from, there were two. I would say that the food was a little pricier than other restaurants in the area.
In my continued effort to find a Korean restaurant in the lower mainland that serves a Galbitang comparable to the one I had at New Seoul in the States, I’ve asked a Korean coworker for recommendations, and she suggested Wang Ga Ma in Coquitlam. Fannypack was once again my partner in crime.
Hidden gem! We went there after a semi long hike. Everyone was tired and hungry. They had a variety of soups available and they were very well done! Personally, I'm a huge fan of bone broth/soup and this place got it! Their oxtail soup was on point! It was so creamy and could only be achieved after boiling the bones for hours! I think it was totally worth it because it's not a regular item in most Korean restaurant. My friends had their seafood tofu soups. They were happy with their choices. One of them had the spicy cold noodle. The noodle was super chewy but definitely spicy for those who can't handle a lot of spice. The service was fast and friendly. The only thing was that it was a little cramy but that's simply due to the size of the restaurant and the number of people we had.
**Bonus #1: They serve rice in a stone pot!
**Bonus #2: They have good kimchi and turnips ( you get to cut them on your own!)
I would totally go back to try other items on their menu!
Hands down my new favorite place. I love the food here!! Mulnengmyeun in the summer and haejangguk in the winter. Highly recommend :) #bestkoreanfood
best korean restaurant I've went in my whole life. Felt like I was in Korea or maybe even better. Strongly recommend to try out their food. :)
I love this restaurant. They offer awesome service and foods! They are clean and honest. If someone ask me to which restaurant is they can enjoy korean food, then I would say go to Wanggama. The best restaurant in VC!
Growing up in a traditional Korean household, I know good Korean food when I taste one. I routinely go back and forth between Seoul, Vancouver, and LA - and trust me folks, for this price, the food here is nothing short of excellent.
Gamja-tang and dogani-tang are two of my favorites, and their new haejang-uk (hang-over soup) is excellent as well. The workers are quick, Kimchi is excellent, and honestly, I don't see anything that would stop me from giving this place anything less than five stars. I highly recommend this place to anyone, whether you're a fan of Korean food or someone looking for something new.
Great food! I went last week with my family and all of my family loved the food. Menu is upgraded which made it hard to choose which food to eat. You dont need any other side dishes because of the kimchi that is served (which is delicious) and the food itself is filling that you dont need anything else. It gets really busy here but its worth waiting to eat here! Must go!! Reasonable pricing too My favourite here is the gamjatang!

Outside of the late night shopping, the one thing that Korea really impressed me with was the bone broth soups. Craving this taste again, we did some calling around to my Korean friends for a list of local places that can replicate that taste. Wang Ga Ma was recommended to me and it did not disappoint.
Wang Ga Ma is located in Coquitlam, off of North Road. For those who a familiar with the area it is in the plaza where TD Canada Trust is located and where London Drugs used to be. We have been here about four times now, and the dish to get is the galbi tang. I would not deviate from this, and if you want to share and try new things my recommendation is not to and just get your own order of galbi tang. We tried the Ox Tail this time and it just left me feeling like half my stomach missed out on the galbi tang. Not saying anything bad about the ox tail special or the ox tail soup just saying that the gabli tang is that good. If you aren't feeling well or in the craving for some nice Korean soup then Wang Ga Ma is the joint for you.
I hated coming here before. Our of all the Korean restaurants on North Rd. I couldn't understand why my parents would come here to eat. Then I tried it again, against my wishes, last weekend and the food was delicious! Ownership had changed (thank God) and menu was upgraded. It was really inconsistent before, sometimes seemingly the soup was watered down. Now it comes with a lot of flavour and the place is packed during dinner time.
I love this place so much, their kimchi and their turnip is amazing!! The place is always nice and clean and it makes my trip so much more worth it! It's pretty easy to find because it's right in front of the huge hanarum, overall the food portion is great (normally can't eat everything due to its portion) , the price is very reasonable and the customer service was good! Highly recommend this place because it is the traditional korean food and unlike other places the quality of the soup and meat is very delicious!!! The interior of this restaurant is very classy and traditional it feels like i'm in Korea. The design is quite nice and during cold weather, this place is my absolute fave!! PLEASE GO VISIT AND TRY FOR YOURSELF, IT is delicious!
Love thief beef rib (galbi-jjim), it's a must try I think. Will definitely go more often if the price and portion is better for that dish. Have been here twice, both times had to wait for a bit. Service is good and waitresses are friendly.
THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!. OMG!!! I CAN't believe how good this place was!!!

This place is awesome!!!. I love wanggama!!! they have nice korean soups with reasonable price!
especially bibimbap in a hot dish its soo delicious!!
soups are awesome too for a rainy weather
raincouverrrr as we call it
seolleongtang would be the menu that i would chooose to eat
This place is great! The rice with soups are awesome and the Galbi jjim was very tasty. I recommend the Galbi tang and make sure to put some water into the stone pot after scooping out the sticky rice so you can enjoy the rice stuck to the bottom after your meal with kimchi. People often complain about the service at Korean restaurants but I don't think Korean restaurants are that keen on creating an upscale atmosphere. Just know what youre going to order, order it, enjoy it and pay for it. If the service was not up to your standards, reflect it on the tip you leave. Just bare in mind that everyone works and not everyone is having the best day and were all just trying to make a buck or two.
Really good beef rib stew!. My friend and I tried this restaurant on our way to H-Mart (across from the parking lot). The restaurant is pretty cozy with divided booths. Menu's really simple, taped on the wall. We had Beef rib stew and bibimbap, got a large plate of kimchi and a bowl of soup for free as well. The beef was tender and delicious, veggies in the stew were fabulous, and the pan was lined with vermicelli on the bottom, which adsorbed all the flavour in the dish! The bill was just $25 and we couldn't finish what we ordered. Will go back there again for sure!
Comfort food.... I love the soups here and the kimchi! The soups are always good and flavorful. The restaurant is of a good size for its location, and many of the patrons tend to be older Korean folk or families. The menu items that are what this place is famous for are their soups. I ordered their seafood pancake once, but it was DRENCHED in oil. I would recommend sticking to their soups when eating there. The service, however, is just TERRIBLE. One of the older female servers always ignores customers and it takes forever to flag her down to get her to help us. This is the case even when the restaurant is relatively slow. I still come back though...just cause the food is so good :)
Authentic Korean Food. LOVE LOVE LOVE their broth soups...ALL OF THEM~~ they are comfort food and healthy at the same time. They give you alot of beef if you order the Gal bi Tang and lots of tendons in their Do Ga nee Tang
Try it! Don't expect the best service but they are still friendly

This is the best oxtail soup I ever had at a Korean restaurant (compared to Hanok and Jong Ga's), and the soup is very decently priced.

The spicy beef soup was excellent. It wasn't overly spicy and had a rich and complex flavour from the ripe kimchi and the different vegetables that was packed into the little bowl. If you are into spicy food, this is the one for you. It really warms you up.
At the insistence of Libbie , we ventured out to Coquitlam for some food. I was yearning for some seolleongtang and I already had a restaurant in mind, someplace that I haven't made a return visit to in a long long time. Wang Ga Ma is located in the same
