The food is so nice, and the service is great and fast. You don’t need to wait for long time to enjoy your meal.

Friendly, fast service. Clean restaurant Rolls could have been bigger and less fatty

Service is between terrible and awful. If you are not ordering large meal - you are out of luck, it will take forever to see the food. They place priority on group orders and take out dinners. Even if those orders came after yours. We have waited for about 40 minutes, but our two rolls never came. Ended up paying just for the miso, left this place, not going back. They should close servicing walk-in clients and only serve take outs.

Terrible. Staff are not friendly and seem to hate it there. Food is terrible my gyoza looked like it had hot dog stuff and wasn’t cooked. Sushi was hard and flavorless. The only good thing is that there’s other food places around so after your done you can go get some decent food somewhere else.

The food was exceptional, and fast. The staff were attentive, polite, and interactive. Gm The baked oysters were amazing, but really, everything was. Will probably return tomorrow.

I had high expectation for their gomae, but I was disappointed. Not that it's bad, it's just not outstanding. Certainly not "best in town" quality. Sushi, on the other hand, was sad. Rice lacks flavour. (Rice is the soul of sushi! Use a little more vinegar!) Imitation crab (in California roll) was dry. I wasn't even sure if there was mayo in my roll...

Great service. Good prices. Always come back for the food. It's not a big place but well worth eating at.

Walked in and saw 2 servers sleeping on the tables. Price is ok but food that we got was pretty terrible. We Ordered bento box and teriyaki was watery and my smoked salmon was only dry skin, the seaweed was too chewy and was not presentable. Honestly could say the worst sushi place I've ever been in. 1 server man was very nice though.

Use to enjoy this place! Although after one to many bad experiences i will never go back. I am convinced there was weird hairs throughout my food and i find the staff a tad too rude and very rushing. Save your money and go to the other 100s of sushi places throughout Vancouver.

not the best sushi i've had, but it's pretty cheap and i've never had the problems with time listed by others. food always comes 15 - 20 minutes

Called in to make an order for delivery since the website says they deliver. The man on the phone literally said to me, "yeah, I'm going to say no to delivering," and hung up on me.

Worst sushi place I've been to. Ended up throwing all my food in the garbage. Avoid this place at all costs and save your money. I could not be paid to eat here.

We wanted a sushi snack but didn't feel like traveling too far so we stopped and got a party tray from Gem Sushi. Honestly, this is really second rate sushi. The rolls are difficult to bite through because the seaweed wrap is not dry enough to start. The rolls are sloppily rolled and all cut unevenly. Sure they taste okay but you would be well advised to go the extra distance and get sushi from Mega Sushi or Sushi Town. Not recommended.

No go. Had to wait 1 hr 45 min for my order. When it came it was missing 1 item and sauce for the tempura, which was cold by the time I got it and I live about 7 minutes away. I was told sorry , no discount or reason given.
We had used them as our go to spot, but not anymore.

Local favorite :). Gem Sushi is conveniently located at Como Lake Village, very close to where I live which is nice as there isn't many options within walking distance. I haven't had any bad experiences yet and have ordered around 5 times, the staff are pleasant and always have a smile. You get what you pay for, it's basic normal sushi but it's tasty, has a creative selection of rolls, a variety of combos and platters, and all at a fair price! One thing I would improve on is the tempura, the batter is usually more soft than crispy and the dipping sauce is a little watered down. Otherwise, I'm still a happy customer and love to buy their sushi especially when I have guests over. Thanks guys!!!

Lunch disaster. I ordered Beef Udon over the phone for pick up and they said it would take 20 minutes. I arrived on time to pick my lunch up and was told it would be a few minutes more.... Ok... thats fine but it took an extra 20 minutes sitting there and waiting for my lunch to be given to me. I only had 30 minute lunch break, this gave me 10 minutes to get back to work and eat. There were no apologies for the double amount of time it took for the food to be ready.
To top it off the Beef in the Beef Udon Soup was dry and flavourless...How can beef in a soup be dry??? .... very disappointed....

Great lil sushi restaurant!

Good quality, good value. I go here and usually order combo E. It has a No1 roll(similar to a dynamite roll)
with 2 pieces tuna, 2 salmon and 2 ebi nigiri and also miso soup for $9.50. At other sushi places this could cost 17 or 18 dollars. Everything was good, perfectly cooked rice and tender fish. Any time I am in near Como Lake I will go there for lunch or dinner.

Hot meals seemed just average but the sushi was decent for the price - good value.

I have been there about 4 times, the sushi gets the job done at a good price, my friend the other day had chicken terryaki and he said it wasnt very good. If you want sushi at a good price (around 2.95) per serving then Gem Sushi is a smart choice. P.s i really like the atmosphere inside the restaurant and also the free green tea is nice :)
Yummy
This restaurant used to give their customers great service at a great price. We ordered takeout from the restaurant today & the quality was not good at all. We ordered a special roll that we paid full price for and they made it the same size as a cucumber roll, even though it was the full size last time. They said that they let the lady go who we ordered from last time and they were not willing to do anything for us. The rolls were all small & had very little fish. We do not recommend eating at this restaurant.

There's great sushi - and then there's the rest. This is "the rest." Very poor quality, nigiri fish is what they would use for rolls elsewhere. Not good.

Found this place to be very very good and great price!!! I'm happy they have wild salmon and not just farm salmon like most sushi restaurants in the neighborhood have to say this is my new Gem!!!

This place is still great at this price point; fresh, with good care and attention made it seems to each item. They don't seem to scrimp; some places over time seem to decline in food quality by starting to cut corners, but we've been very happy each time we've ordered. Usually get food from here about 2 times per month, typically ordering the following: scallop roll, house roll, tuna sashimi, dynamite roll, beef teriyaki. It's a regular family staple.
