Having eaten here many times I can safely say this is by far the best soup and sandwich place in the tri cities. Most of the items are made in house such as the bread and the soups. A must is the meatloaf sandwich , which is made in house daily!
Every time I’m back in the tri cities, a stop at soup plus is a must !
GREAT FIND. screw subway across the street. THIS is the place for a sandwich made by your grandparents.
soup is great too. we need more places like this an less chains. SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS
There needs to be more mom and pop shops like this one.
Owners are very engaged people and appreciate their customers.
First and foremost the bread is made in-house and is unreal.
I fancy the Poor boy where as my fiancés go-to is the veggie. The poor boy has terrific seasoning and beef is not too tough. The veggie is very light and refreshing.
If you live in the tri-cities and you haven't eaten at Soup Plus do yourself a favour and head over there. If not for the fresh bread, go for the experience you will get just getting to know the owners :)
Freshest soups and sandwiches around triple stack sandwich and cream of mushroom love the bread it's made in house their Is nothing like it so fresh
The nicest owners and very delicious sandwich and soups! I always get their sandwich/soup combo. Try to get here a little earlier than 12PM as it can get quite busy and you might wait around 10 minutes. Still, my favourite local sandwich place. :)
Great owners. Great food. Loved the soup and sandwich. Fantastic soups and the fresh home made bread was really yummy. They made a sandwich my daughter loved and made sure to accommodate my my wife's vegan diet. We will be back.
Best soup and sandwich ever!. After reading all the reviews I was a little hesitant about going there. Figured I had to give it a chance as I know from experience not to rely on others people's review and try it for myself.
It felt like I was in an episode of Seinfeld ...you know the one...the soup episode .
When I got there I was a little scared and thought ok...don't piss them off and have your order ready. State exactly what you want then move to the right . The lady behind the counter greeted me with a smile and I ordered. I ordered a toasted tuna salad sandwich with a large bowl of cream of mushroom soup. Ok so far so good....she's still smiling at me. I stepped to the right . Then the old man looked at me and said "what sandwich was that again?" I proceeded to sweat a little and got all nervous..is he asking me a question? Omg I better answer him quickly...don't want him mad ! "Tuna please." Then I stepped to the right to pay.
"You staying here?" ....omg another question ! I'm panicking now ...with my little voice "yes".
" You staying, you pay after!" in his booming voice.
So I sat my ass down . So what I got from this? They are basically two sweet couple that are a little rough around the edges, abrupt in their matter of fact personality but they were great! Mind you he didn't ask me what I wanted in my sandwich ...I was too scared anyways but it was the best tuna sandwich I've ever had! I think it was due to the fresh baked bread it was on. It was an awesome lunch! I recommend it!
So make sure when you order, you better tell them what you don't want in it...
This is one of my favorite places to have lunch! At first, the owners seem rude and offputting, but after going in a couple of times, they warm up and are actually really amazing people. They make the best mushroom soup. The best days are when they have their homemade coconut cookies!!! My favorite!
I was recommended by a friend to go and eat at this "little sandwich shop" and was not dissapointed one bit. Excellent food with an even better host. Will be going back again soon.
Awesome - real food! Soup & bread like out of Canada!. This place is awesome. We have eaten there many times and it is by far the best place to go for a sandwich, and the service is always great.
One of my favourite places to eat!!! Their soups are all home made the same day and the sandwiches are to die for!!
I went in to Soup Plus after driving by. I read the other reviews on Urban Spoon and was expecting to find two grumpy owners inside. Sure enough, when I asked for the sandwiches to be made with brown bread, the woman behind the counter replied, "brown bread?? This isn't Subway. We make our bread, its home made and there's only one kind". I have to admit this made me smile. This lead to a very sarcastic but humorous conversation between me and the two owners. Sure they tease and kid and can be sarcastic but it was harmless. They seem to be very good-natured and pleasant. The food: I had a toasted chicken club and it was perfect. Filling, flavourful and hit the spot. My wife had the tuna melt and that too was good. Overall; Food 5/5. Service 5/5. Go in this place and expect to shrug off a few jokes and have a really good sandwich.
This is one of, if not the best restaurants Coquitlam has to offer. I'm disappointed to hear the extremely judgmental reviews about the owners that people have said, I've been going for over 2 years and have never had an issue with them. They are always ready to make conversation and have rich life stories to tell. Not only that but almost everything they offer is homemade and always fresh, I don't think I've ever had better soup than the ones they make. This is not the place for fake smiles and dressed up food like any major chain restaurant, but a down-to-earth and delicious experience that keeps me coming back.
Soup: A, Service: C-. Really liked the variety of soups and the couple that I have had, I enjoyed. They seem to pay attention to what they are making. However, like the poster allysonb, I, too, have received just rude (perhaps inadvertently) counter service from the lady. I share her passion for yummy soups, but it seems unnecessary to tell me to hold the pepper because "my skin is bad." I was having a stressful week and do not need this with my lunch, thanks, as I noticed it myself in the mirror that morning. I guess she was being that mother in-law I am so pleased I do not have. lol!
The greatest Sandwiches and Soups EVER!. This is one of prized Coquitlam eateries where everything is made from scratch, hosts have loads of personality, and the food is simply exquisite.
I never knew a sandwich could be so rich, so well prepared, and so fresh at the same time - the vegetables tower over freshly cut meatloaf, and there is nothing like the sizzling hot louisiana beef!
The pasta bolognese is amazing - if you get a chance to try it, do. Will blow your socks off.
Soups are high quality and are freshly made on the premises, including breads and all the trimmings for sandwiches. If you're there at the right time, you'll see the chef chop fresh mushrooms for his incredibly yummy mushroom soup :)
All soups are seasonal, and there are about 6 on the menu daily. I often travel across the city just to grab a bite because simply nothing compares to homey deliciousness of Soup Plus. If I could eat there every day, I would.
Highly recommended.
My absolute favorite restaurant to eat at for lunch! All the soups are homemade, the bread is freshly baked in house, and the veggies are always fresh! In addition, the croation couple who own the place are extremly friendly and courteous. I would, and have, recommended this restaurant to everyone! Also, the prices are great; equivalent to subway, but much better quality!
Soup Plus is a little mom and pop restaurant in Coquitlam that sells sandwiches and soups. They attract mostly people in the area and aren’t well known outside of Coquitlam. I have passed by several times, but it is quite easy to miss. One of my Twitter followers – Viola ( @vyqchen ) suggested I try out Soup Plus and recommended a few items to order. Since M wanted lunch, I thought we could try out Soup Plus and order the items Viola suggested. Mushroom Soup (~$3) is very delicious and it is not even comparable to Campbells canned mushroom soups. It has tons of mushrooms and isn’t too creamy at all. I finished this bowl of soup pretty fast. I’m actually craving another bowl right now as I type this. They have about 5 freshly made soups everyday, but I heard the mushroom soup is the most popular. Louisiana Poor Boy Sandwich (~$5) has lettuce, tomatoes, pepper and meat covered in BBQ sauce between freshly made house bread. This was our favorite sandwich, the meat was tender and has a s
Awesome soup and sandwiches, owners are a sweet older couple definitely best place I have been to for lunch
This place is absolutely wonderful. At 29 weeks pregnant all I wanted for lunch was a soup and a sandwich. I came across this place and decided to try it out, boy am I glad I did.
I am pretty sure they have been here for a very long time, it is tun by a very sweet elderly couple. I ordered a veggie and cheese sandwich and the homemade veggie soup. First the soup is definitely homemade and tastes like what your Grandma makes at home with love. The sandwich is made with homemade brown bread and is gigantic. I highly highly recommend this place and will be going back soon.
This place is incredible! The food is always fresh and delicious and the husband & wife owners are fun, friendly, absolutely hilarious. My husband and I have a great time bantering with them when we come in. When you come in you instantly feel like family as they make you feel very welcome, as if you are a guest in their home. Not only that, but they will remember you and if you're anything like me and have a favourite item on the menu, they will remember that too :) Speaking of the menu, they have amazing variety of sandwiches and soup which are made fresh daily, and they even bake their own bread - WHO DOES THAT?!? Overall, I could not say enough great things about these guys, and if you haven't tried this place yet, I highly recommend it - you will not be disappointed!
The sandwiches have a nostalgic, homemade style which highlights the quality of the ingredients. I ate the veggie sub and was pleased that it was fresh, yet hearty. The bread and apple cake were both fresh and flavourful. This restaurant has a clear vision of the style of food they want to sell and they execute that vision very well.
Best sandwiches I ever had. The mushroom soup is bomb! The old couple working here have a lot of character as well. I see all the one stars people leave because they don't appreciate the jokes the couple makes for the experience. Come here if you are hungry and have a strong stomach. There's a subway across the street for weak sauce babies. Cash and debit only. So bring your money.
Amazing atmosphere, amazing food.
Great price.
Craving a soup and sandwich, had the best mushroom soup of my life. Followed by the poor boy sandwich which was packed with flavour every bite.
10/10 can’t recommend enough
I ordered the Louisiana Poor Boy sandwich and it was packed with flavour and quite filling. I would come here often if it wasn't so out of the way for me. The owner is definitely a character and is quite talkative.
