We were in the Pinetree Village area of Coquitlam for some personal business the other day, and when finished, lunch was definitely in order. We saw Pho 99 nearby, so handy, decided to give it a try. Walked in about 11 am, liked how we were greeted, what we saw, and headed to the table directly in front of the service counter.
Service was good — our server brought hot tea (pot and mugs) and menus quickly (a large placemat type showing all offerings, and a small one of lunch specials), and provided some needed help with ordering.
What we (a threesome) ordered and shared — ‘Combo A’ - a lunch special of rice w/pork, large (beef) pho, and two spring rolls — and added an order of chicken wings. Our food order came from the kitchen to table in a timely manner - except for one minor ‘wrinkle’ in the serving sequence. We had hoped to see the wings first, as a sort of appetizer, but they arrived last, and well after everything else - almost wings for dessert - ok, but not expected.
Servings were well-sized, and all arrived looking good. The dishes were well-prepared, ingredients plentiful, and nicely and distinctly flavoured. Pho — broth warm and tasty, beef (two kinds) tender, and juicy, vermicelli noodles cooked perfectly, condiments fresh, and crisp. Spring rolls — warm, large, crispy coatings, and well-stuffed with tasty ingredients. Rice & pork — pork warm, well-seasoned, very tasty, salad cool, fresh, and crisp, rice warm and good. Chicken wings — large, plump, nicely-seasoned coating, tender, moist, chicken. All accompanying sauces flavourful and tasty.
We enjoyed our lunch at Pho 99 — small place, rather quiet ambiance, friendly staff, good service, and well-prepared food. It really did turn out to be what we were looking for, and sure hit the spot after a rather active and busy morning.

Pho 99 is a well known Vietnamese cuisine franchise best known for their noodle soups translated as “pho”. With seven locations to date, I visited their Coquitlam location after a long day of studying for a quick bite. It’s tucked in the corner of the plaza on Lougheed Highway few stores down from Chapters. I’m not very picky when it comes to pho because it essentially tastes the same to me everywhere-delicious, filling and cheap!
Was looking for some Vietnamese food in the Coquitlam area but I couldn't find any until I stumbled upon this place! It has really big portions of food and it also closes late! It was really good and I would go back there again for sure!
I love this place. The best of the Pho 99 chain is this one. The customer service is unconventional- they can come off as impolite but I don't feel that. They're all nice people and super friendly. I feel like I'm in a home kitchen when I step into the restaurant. I love it. Their pho has great flavour. Will keep on coming back for sure!!
Thus Pho 99 must be the original because I've been to others in this chain and they were nowhere near as good. You simply MUST have the spicy seafood soup. I've never had it anywhere else as good as it was here. Seriously. You have to try it.
Best of the pho99 locations, small and friendly and always great tasting pho. Chicken on rice is always delicious, and the soups are always on point.
Best of all the pho restaurants I have tried, blows pho Hoa out of the water by miles
Awesome.. I've been to many pho restaurants and this is the best. I've even been to each of the other pho99 - the one near Coq center is Mmm.
I go all the time, sometimes 3+ times a week. I'm pregnant and this is my number one craving. I love the staff they are always so sweet, know what I'm getting as soon as I walk in and I never have to wait. Though it can be very busy I do tend to find it louder in there, but it's the best pho I have been able to find and will not go any where else.
Good Comfort Food. PROS: good quality, cheap, steakpho, large portions chicken subs, heated for winter, open pretty late for Coquitlam.
Cons: Restaurant is ugly
Large portions, good taste, fast, decent service , sub-par eating atmosphere, always crowded
Great palce. Staff very nice. Very cheap and decent portions. Food quality very consistent. I go there once a week.
More than just Pho. Unlike a lot of Pho restaurants, Pho 99 offers hungry patrons a lot of choices beyond the usual big bowl of Pho. The lemon grass chicken and pork are usually flavourful, decent sized portions, and thus good value. I usually order their 3 roll combo ($5.95) with fried spring roll, shrimp salad roll and pork roll. From their wide Pho selection, I prefer one of the Adventurer's Choice or Fortifying Combos. For under $10/person, fill your tummy with some good Vietnamese food. The main drawback is that during peak times, parking can be an issue. Still, whenever we're in the Lougheed Mall area and have a craving for some Vietnamese cuisine, Pho 99 is our first choice.
Peace Out,
Anthony
Mmmmmmm. What can I say..fantastic everything at this place. we have been to almost all their locations. even in the US & this place is very consistent!
My wife & I LOVE the food here. we have brought numerous people here over the years and those friends have brought their friends.
great value for your money!!
Good price and food. Price is good. Food quality matches the price. It won't be bad but it won't be as good as those expensive restaurants. You get what you pay for.
$10 / person is really good so I always come here. Sometimes I can say the food is really good but sometimes not, quality fluctuating. But I'll still come back for hot noodle soup. Nice.

Awsome food, awsome service & the marble slab right next door. Dinner and dessert next door to each other, the service at pho 99 is top notch I have been to all of the vietnamese noodle houses in the tri cities and we only go here now .
Always busy. This place has tons of regulars. Reasonably priced (although they just increased their prices). Don't expect ambiance or spectacular service, but food is served quickly and even though they're usually packed you don't have to wait long.
I love this place! The food is ALWAYS incredible, and for the low low price, it's unbeatable! The wait staff is excellent! They take the time to help you out with the menu (for us Vietnamese cuisine illiterate! Hahaha) and are FAST in bringing you your food and refills! I would go daily.

The store was pretty empty when we went in, but eventually it filled up a bit more. The waitress was very attentive and friendly =) I ordered their large #8 ($7.90) which contains eye round steak, well-done flank, soft tendon, and beef tripe. The bowl was so big, and so much meat!
i've never had vietnamese food back in singapore so when i got to vancouver back in 2006, i was shocked to see the vast amount of restaurants serving PHO. it's pretty mcdonaldized if you ask me. initially, pho was like something exotic for me. now, i only
Pho is always on my back up list when thinking about what to eat, since you can never go wrong. Pho99 is actually a chain restaurant that has opened in quite a few locations. There are 2 in Coquitlam, 1 in Richmond, 1 in North Van, and even 1 in Seattle.
