Review Paros Taverna - Coquitlam

Eric Cheng
Fantastic food and attentive servers. We love lamb, so ordered both the lamb souvlaki and arni kleftiko. Both were wonderful, but the arni kleftiko really hit it out of the park with a deboned lamb shoulder slow roasted. For the price it's a solid deal. Zucchini chips were neat. And we could fit dessert. Patio is a nice environment with care to decor to hide the fact that an alley sits on the other side of the fence.

Mediocre to good food. Thanksgiving turkey was pretty good though. Retsina was also good. Service is so-so. A bit expensive for such quality.

friendly local eatery, good portions of food. I'd go back and try their other menus

Best Greek restaurant I have ever eaten at! I've been dining at Paros Taverna since the were located on Smith and Clark in Coquitlam. Never been disappointed. Today I ordered the Lamb Shoulder entree with rice. It was the most unbelievably tender piece of meat I've ever had. So flavorful, moist, juicy. The portion sizes was well above average (I'm a large person and even I left stuffed). The server was great! I highly recommend this place for authentic Greek!

This place is actually quite surprising, the food I had was much better than I expected. The lamb was very tender and juicy, the rice was very well seasoned. When we mentioned it was our first time here they even gave us a complimentary dessert. At first I was thinking it seemed expensive, but when we actually tasted the food my mind changed completely.

This Greek Tavern or Restaurant is a joke. The worst Greek food I ever had. We went there with our two kids on Fathers day. The tavern interior is nice but it has nothing Greek to it beside few pictures of Greek gods on the walls. No Greek music, food is nowhere near Greek food taste you would expect in a Greek restaurant. We ordered Lamb chops. They came in burnt and they were tiny. I was like what are we going to eat honey, when I finished the meal.Very little meat on the plate for 26$ per plate. Greek salad mostly had cucumber with two or three tomato slices. Only one olive. The Tzaziki sauce was nothing like it should be. But lots of rice. To make you full I guess. For our son we ordered ham and cheese pizza. It comes with green peppers and mushrooms. Well only one tiny slice of ham. The rest was tomato sauce and few pieces of very small green peppers bits, mushroom and onions I guess. Looked and tasted like veggi pizza. The crust was good though. Total bill was 120$. Very expensive for what you are getting. Also tiny tables and not a lot of space. All this without even Greek music or Greek feel. Very bad experience. We felt ripped off and we will not be going back ever again. So you have been warned. Good luck.

We ordered Paros plater and it was more than enough for two people. It was good food and good service

Excellent food and service. Didn't have to wait more than 20 minutes for our food. We had calamari appetizer and lamb as a main course. Very nice decor.

My husband and I have been going here for a few years. They're reliable with great service and great food everytime.

Had an excellent office party here and the food was fabulous! Thanks to Claudia and the rest of the staff for a wonderful evening!

Excellent food and service! Best Greek cuisine I've ever had that wasn't home-cooked. Went twice within a week and the server was awesome cuz she recognized me.

I have been going to Paros since I was 7 years old. They have always made me feel like family. They have celebrated with me through all of my life milestones and mourned with me during hard times. The food is amazing, the service is amazing. I could not imagine eating Mediterranean food anywhere else.

There roast lamb is excellent and great service..

My Coworkers & I would frequent Paros while we were in Vancouver for a month or so changing Red Robinson into Hard Rock. Claudia & Alex became like family...never met better owners of an establishment anywhere!

Best Greek food in the Burquitlam/Tri Cities area! Fresh, huge portions for a relatively cheap price!

I want to go back with my family ! Opa! Next time we should see the male belly dancer :)
Sara Boychuk
The best Greek food! Always get amazing service , we keep going back all the time:)

The female owner is extremely rude and disrespectful to guest and staff. She should find a job that doesn’t involve in face to face human interactions :).

It was lunch in the neighbourhood for us recently, our first visit to Paros, since it moved to this location from Coquitlam’s Burquitlam Plaza a few years ago. We walked into the restaurant before noon, acquired a table of our choice, and received prompt and friendly initial service of menus, and large tumblers of cold water.

We chose the Paros Platter (for two) — the platter came with chicken souvlaki, prawn souvlaki, kalamaria, dolmades, and spanakopita — and was served with rice, potatoes, Greek salad, tzatziki, and pita. The food came to our table via three large dishes - salad, potatoes & rice, and platter. Presentations looked fine, and I’ll admit it was fun to see everything come at the same time, and take over so much space on our table, though I was a little surprised to see it actually served this way.

The quality of food preparations was ’mixed’ — overall, quite bland in flavours and tastes — lacking in those wonderful, and truly-distinct flavours we have come to look for, and so enjoy when dining on Greek food. The salad, prawn souvlaki, and dolmades were very decent exceptions, and well-prepared - the salad colourful, fresh, crisp, and tasty, prawns tender and flavourful, and dolmades, though very small in size, made up for their size in big taste. The kalamaria was plentiful and tender (yea!), but lacked flavour. The chicken souvlaki was terribly overcooked, dry, and tough. The spanakopita was overcooked as well, flat, very little ’stuffing’, and dry wraps. The tzatziti lacked some ’zip’, and tasted much more like plain yogurt. The portion of rice and roasted potatoes was large, well-prepared, but lacked in any distinct flavour and taste. The pita tasted like cold, white bread.

Overall, our dining experience at Paros Taverna was just ‘ok’ — must say, food preparations were more than a touch disappointing, and really lacked the great flavour & taste “excitement” of Greek fare we had hoped for, and expected to find at this restaurant.

A Greek restaurant that serves Musaka must be authentic! Parvos has nice sized dishes. Their appetizer of different spreads with pita was really good. I highly enjoyed their food.

Very filling and tasteful. The pita bread is very interesting; it's fluffy instead of flat. The hummus is also very different from what you buy from a store; it's a bit chunkier, and it tastes quite different. I also like the cheese appetizer, which is literally fried cheese. It tastes pretty amazing.

Dinner on a week day. Had dinner with my friend there on a week day we arrived at 5 pm. We had a pleasant waitress who took our orders. We order the special they had lamb shank on pasta. The food took a long time to arrive. The place was quite empty. The lamb did not look very appealing to me so I only had bit with no flavour and it was very dry. Everything else was okay. This is the first and last time I would come here.

Deplorable service, the restaurant does not care for their customers!. I ordered out for the birthday dinner for my daughter. Her favourite dessert is their Baclava cake so we ordered, additionally to the dinner, a piece of cake for the Bday girl. We told them its for the large Bday party. When we finished our dinner we found out cake is not there, and we paid for it. I called Paros explaining the cake did not make it, to which they offered me to DRIVE to them to PICK IT UP! REALLY? There was no sorry or anything like this, just that if I want a cake they charged me for I can drive back in the middle of the party. When I explained they just caused the girl to go in tears, they said if I do not want to drive now, I can come any time and get a rebate for it! Why would someone thing I will ever want to go back? Or get a rebate? Why would I give them my business ever again! This restaurant does not care for their customers - it was their mistake to forget about the cake they charged us for and they did nothing to correct it!

Small portions bland. We went there recently for a birthday party. My husband and I shared the greek dinner for two. We asked if the portion is large the waitress assured us that there would be lots of food between two people. Greatly disappointed. Hardly any chicken, it seemed over cooked and dry, no flavour. Greek salad was flavourless. Tasted like vegetables with feta cheese, no herb or spice to it. Very disappointed. Won't be coming here again.

Re:Paros. This place was amazing I really enjoyed it I'm not sure why Cindy rather eat dog food that seems a little ridiculous because no one eats dog food. I had a great time our waitress was helpful and very sweet. The food was great!
I was here with my wife a while ago and we had a table beside us being painfully rude to the staff complaining about anything and everything and after they had finally left the waitress came up to us to apologize in case it had ruined our evening and gave us a very delicious dessert. I think they treat there costumers very kindly.

I was at Paros recently and my experience was unpleasant. The waitress was rude. I do not recommend this place. Would much rather eat dog food. The food was cold and tasted old. It was like an issue when I asked for a fresh dish. I am the paying customer after all.

Ho hum. My friend and I ordered the lunch Soulvaki an were surprised to only receive one skewer of chicken and lamb. The rice was very salty and quite frankly tasted exactly from a Chicken Rice a Roni box. The food was not hot, however the appetizers were good.
Less than typical greek food. I would check out other places instead of this restaurant.

Excellent service, Humous, platter, pita coffee and especially the FREE Baklava unexpectedly brought to our party of 3! Did not get to this gem while it was at burquitlam but discovered it near Robin's Lougheed and so glad we did!

We used to like it.. Since they moved to the new location on Cameron St. I find the service has changed, they don't seem to care and hard to deal with.

Awesome Experience!. Just got back from their new location on Cameron Street, and we were impressed! We got Saganaki to start (we've had it in Greece and it was just as good), and then went for the platter for 2. The platter had good variety, huge portions, and was very tasty. Will definitely go again soon... tomorrow... now.... mmmmm...

Roast Lamb. Hands down, Paros Taverna has the best roast lamb. Served with rice, potatoes and greek salad, it's always moist, tender and fresh. The owners and staff are wonderful. They always make me feel at home.

My boyfriend and I just tried this restaurant as it has recently opened on Cameron. The servers were attentive, the portions were large, and the food was amazing. We ordered the three dip appetizer and the souvlaki platter for two. The waitress gave us a free taramiso dessert and samboka shots at the end of the meal. We were not able to finish all the food but it was REALLY good

Went by to visit on the opening of their new location on Cameron street. Love their calamari and their platters are great for splitting with another friend. Friendly staff, good food an their deserts (house cake) are a must try!

Excellent service. Food was pretty good. Thursday platter special is excellent value! I will definitely be going back.

This place has gone downhill. I used to eat here about 7-8 years ago when the food was good. Now, the food is pretty awful. The potatoes are warm on the outside and cold on the inside (ummm, microwave much?), the Greek salad is bland, and the rice is mush. Even the drinks are weak. I do not recommend this place.

Nostalgic. I used to work @ the Shoppers Drug Mart 4 stores up from this place, so if it wasn't Fuji sushi or Panago we did Greek for lunch.
It being Greek food and all it was always a little on the expensive side, but they were always good with my picky requests for no onions or peppers :P some servers look at me funny or huff, but not the staff @ Paros. Food was top notch, so much so my friend and I (who also worked @ Shoppers) would go there when we were off work for a nice dinner out. Sadly I haven't been in a long time, but I would recommend this place to anyone. I love the mood of the place, maybe just because of the memories attached to it, but still, the lighting is romantic, dinning on the deck in the summer is fun and belly dancers make for a great night out.
Just my two cents,
Stephanie.

Failed to impress. I don't know why you have to pay extra for the potatoe with souvlaki its the only place I know of that does this. Totally wasn't worth it because the potatoe wasn't very good, tasted "old", not worth paying extra for. Should be included anyways. Rice tasted like from a Mexican restaurant. Menu said beef was tenderloin but I think it was sirloin. Almost no feta on the salad. At over $38 for 2 souvlakis we expected more and got disappointed. Not horrible but just average at best but priced as if it was something special, which clearly it wasn't.

Just been to this restaurant for the first and last time.
Did not care for the food or service. The place is so dark, you can hardly read the menu or see what you are eating. Had the light portion, Arni Kleftiko, disappointment to say the least. No table cloth or placemats!! Table was sticky, had to ask waitress to wipe it clean. Since I recommended this place on an invite, I felt very uncomfortable. The waitress most unpleasant.

Arni Kleftiko
Tender morsels of lamb, potatoes, carrots and onions wrapped
in cooking paper and slowly baked to perfection.
Accompanied with a rich demi-glaze.
All served to you hot from the oven with rice
and/or potatoes, Greek salad, tzatziki and pita bread.
Light portion 14.50 Full portion 17.50

Paros is our favourite Greek Restaurant - Fantastic food!. This has been our favourite girls' night out restaurant for years. The food is delicious, particularly their Souvlaki, Roasted Lamb, bacon-wrapped scallops and their special house-cake (although none of us has ever been disappointed, no matter what we've tried on their menu). The portions are very generous as well - often 2 of us will split a Chicken souvlaki dinner and we just add an extra rice or potatoes. We can't say enough about Paros -we always get the same great food, service and the same great atmosphere every time we come. Opa!

...a new Greek restaurant near Lougheed Town Centre, where Anducci’s had been. I had no idea that Anducci’s was gone, but after scoping out reviews on Urbanspoon (which seemed mostly positive), we agreed to try some Greek food. So after shopping a bit around Lougheed, we traipsed over to Paros. I noticed they’d retained most of the fixtures from Anducci’s, and didn’t have an excess of foliage or blue and white paint like many Greek restaurants.

M took me to Paros Taverna, a Greek restaurant on North Road in Coquitlam. M had no idea what to expect since we just went there randomly. A year ago, I remember staring at their windows and I was so creeped out. I was sitting at the McDonalds across the street and I saw 2 men at a table getting charmed by a belly dancer. I was very confused. The interior is pretty dark and it gets darker as the evening continues. At one point of the evening the lights go super dim and the music gets pretty loud…. then this man and this belly dancer dances around the restaurant to entertains all their diners. You can even tip the belly dancer to give you an extra personal dance. It was really awkward to watch. A lot of people seemed to enjoy it though. Saganaki ($9) is Kefalotyri cheese pan fried, served hot with half lemon & pita. This is my favorite item to get at any Greek restaurant. Who doesn't love fried cheese? You need to squeeze the lemon on top of the cheese to taste good. The clothe surrou
