Review I Love Sushi - Coquitlam

Jessamy Gurango
This is my second time ordering take out from here, and the first time I really enjoyed the food that I had to come back. I ordered their California roll and the "From Dust Till Prawn Roll", which was delicious. Unfortunately, my second experience was not as enjoyable: I was almost finished my California roll and noticed that on one of my last rolls it had a staple on it. I wish I did not have to experience this because this was about to become my go-to spot since it's only a 5 minute drive away from where I live.

I orderd kung pao chicken noodle and chicken karaage. As see in the picture, it was fabulous and more than i expected. And magager was super kind and nice(recommend me when hesitated) definitely back again ;)

Never order from this place. Just got a sushi roll with pieces of plastic inside. I should have looked at these reviews before ordering, as it appears it is not the first time clients find objects in their food. I just hope I do not get sick, as it seems they do not really care about food safety.

Absolutely “I Love Sushi”, pun intended. This place is a hidden gem. I ordered via SKIP the dishes for delivery today. The food arrive very well packed and hot, it tasted delicious and I’ll surely be ordering again very soon. I had the Kung Pao Chicken with Noodles and along with Potato Croquettes and they were both absolutely amazing. The fusion style of the menu and wide assortment of dishes was very appealing. While this order didn’t include the sushi I’ve heard great reviews from friends who have tried it as well.

Went here last night at 9.10pm and they closed at 9.30... they weren't bothered with out late night arrival and even let us sit in and stay a bit past closing not rushing us at all... amazing service. Food was also just as amazing.. yamtasic roll, avocado roll, miso soup and agadashi tofu and a mango prawn dish I cant remember the name of all pictured here... will Def be back!

Excellent service and fantastic value. You won't find anything else better than iLoveSushi. As of today (July 6, 2022), you can order a 72-piece party tray for only $57. I come here all the time to order party trays for potluck with friends and family. You can order online and set a date/time as to when you want to pick up your order. Their service is also friendly, and they sometimes provide you with free miso soup on your order. Definitely would recommend!

This is my favourite sushi place in the area. Food is consistently delicious. I like the special rolls, especially the Schoolhouse Roll. The sushi pizzas are yummy too, and I recently found that the lunchtime bento boxes are very reasonable.

We love I Love Sushi. This is our go-to sushi place in Coquitlam. They offer not only the usual items you would see at a sushi restaurant, they also have Korean dishes and house special rolls with creative names such as Pirates of the Carribean, Netflix and Chili, From Dust Till Prawn, etc. 😅🤭 We're waiting for them to open for dine-in so we can go there to enjoy the their signature platters and okonomiyaki. What we had last night: • Spicy Tuna Salad (Deep Fried Spicy Tuna) • Netflix and Chill Roll • Chopped Scallop Maki + Tamago Maki • Oyako Don Takeouts are packed nicely in biodegradable and recyclable containers. We sometimes reuse the plastic containers more than once before recycling.

My wife brought home a California roll and dynamite roll this evening. I really enjoyed the California roll, it was tightly rolled and the filling was tasty and a pleasant texture. I found the Dynamite Roll to be a bit on the dry crunchy side of deep fried but was also tasty. I would like to visit this location to sample some more options from their menu but from this small sampling I think an average score is fair for now.

May 2, 2017
I bought some dishes for take out:
salmon sashimi don (the rice portion is half size as dine in/ they didn't put chopped cucumber inside the rice, to make crunchy texture)
Fried chicken ( price look cheap, but extremely dried and tasteless)
Smile roll ( so small but rice and chopped scallops are soft and tasty)

When I go to Zone Bowling, I usually go to I Love Sushi for food, I usually order two rolls and sometimes a combo. The sushi rice is usually okay, fish is somewhat fresh. The service is usually fast and the food comes out fast.

Top of the line in my books. Consistently good sushi. Yes, nothing too unique but as far as your average Joe sushi it is great. We come back here on a regular basis. The staff is friendly, service is quick, restaurant is clean.

Same old same old where ever you go. If you been to one you've been to them all. Sushi is sushi. Mix it up a bit store owners, make yourselves stand out.

The place is small but the staff are nice and friendly. Thete not really much that stands out as far as sushi places go. The quality is average, portion size is average, and the prices are about average. That being said, it's one of a handful of sushi places in the area and it's located in an area with an abundance of free parking. That in itself is at least worth an extra .5 in the reasons. For a quick casual eat, it's not a bad choice.

Other than all-you-can-eat restaurants, this is literally the only place I have seen where you can get Sockeye Salmon Sashimi for less than a buck a piece. The Tuna Sashimi was cut into large pieces, but it was quite firm in texture. The Sockeye Salmon Sashimi, however, was softer than the tuna and had a nice sweet flavour.

Not the best place, but near the best. The restaurant was a great place to try out! It had a decent atmosphere and a decent service too. The place also had a weird smell to it too. The food was delicious, but the size of the sushi was way too small. The asking price for the sashimi and sushi was okay, but just a tad bit expensive than expected. The gyoza was also decent, it was beautifully fried and looks amazing, however it was a bit bland. That blandness was however destroyed by the savory sauce it came with. (BTW I ordered a California Roll, a Spicy Salmon Avocado Roll, a salmon sashimi, a 8 piece gyoza) Overall, I enjoyed being here with my friends! I rate it a promising 8/10

-----02 Mar, 2015-----

It's good. The restaurant was a great place to try out! It had a decent atmosphere and a decent service too. Hard to give a good review! .... Hard to give a good review!
Showed up with 5 people at 8:20pm for dinner and was told only take out service available ! It was 40 mins before closing!
Not good business protocol

I love I love sushi!

The sushi rolls were ok but the salmon sashimi was awful, it felt like it was frozen for months:(. The service was great.

Great Service!. What fantastic service here - highly recommend. We came with our 2 little boys before a movie date. Servers immediately brought the kids drinks and snacks and seemed to go the extra mile. The food was fine too - but the service with many smiles and the thoughtfulness is what would bring us back.

Cookie Cutter. Pros - lively atmosphere, medium sized menu
- Spicy tuna cucumber roll was great
- Prawn Tempura was super fresh and hot with 8 pieces!

Cons= Dynamite roll was ridiculously huge, you could not eat half the pieces in one mouth full if you tried. very annoying to pick up a sushi roll with chop sticks, take a bite with half the stuff in it, put it down, take another bite with the other half in it. not to mention the imitation crab was horrible, must've been sitting in the fridge for a week and it made up the majority of the roll itself!
- Most of the sushi was priced too high.

Cookie cutter sushi joints are plentiful, if they nail a few things then they can be tolerable. But this for me is one those places that I've seen too many times, it hardly draws you in to want to be a regular.

Best in Coquitlam!. Food is delicious and so beautifully rolled, unlike sushi cali or sushi garden (nearby). Reasonable price for great quality of food. The chefs are very welcoming and the waitresses are cute and friendly! My favourite spot!! Try the energy roll or a baked roll... or the princess roll or their chicken katsu. Oh yeah, free yam cone with take out purchase over ten dollars! so awesome

Great Value, Great Personality. Outside of the box thinking and incredibly friendly staff make this place a solid choice. Maki is their specialty and have a long list of options. Try the baked rolls and the tempura salmon. Everything is priced well and the steady stream of customers prove this place has pull with many locals.

I do not reccomend. I literally have had better sushi from the grocery store. I had the dynamite roll and the Gyoza. The dynamite roll had barely any prawn tempura in it. It was a huge roll and I could barely see anything but imitation crab inside. It was so bad I just pulled out the tempura and avocado and ate it by itself leaving a heaping pile of fake crab on the plate. Then the Gyoza came. These were not my favourite at all. The flavour was off and they were deep fried which is not my preference. If I wasn't so hungry I would have gotten up and left when the first dish came to be honest. I have never reviewed a restaurant before bilut I felt I needed to warn people from wasting their money.

Not impressed, large portions did not make up for mushy rolls or flavourless soups.

Its okay sushi with its price although tempuras (fried food) seems to be dipped in oil.

This place has the best sushi in Coquitlam. The yummy roll is good and much more. If I could I would eat here weekly.

I LOVE: I Love Sushi.... And you will too!

This restaurant has got it all; welcoming atmosphere, great staff, and even better food.

...A must try, especially before/after a movie at the Coquitlam Cineplex...

Recently we tried out a new sushi joint called I Love Sushi. As you can probably see in the photo above, the tuna and salmon maki sushi are not the prettiest rolls ever done. In fact, they are loosely and sloppily rolled. However, inside the rolls were generous pieces of salmon or tuna and they were quite tasty. I suppose it is the visual appeal that is not there. The long curved roll is the Spicy Mom’s Roll. Two golden fried prawns and yam inside with spicy salmon and tuna on top of the roll. It was visually appealing, nicely rolled and super tasty with a pleasantly firm resistance as I bit into it. This roll cost $8.28. The California Roll ($3.70) was the standard issue roll. The only reason I order this kind of roll is because I am guaranteed my kids will eat it. A positive sign yesterday though, both kids expressed interest in tasting the Spicy Mom’s Roll. Perhaps their tastes are growing beyond the boring California Roll level! As for the service, it was friendly. My only complaint was that even though there were four of us in the group we were only brought four of those very small napkins. When I asked for more napkins the server brought two more. Seriously, the napkins are barely larger than postage stamps (remember using postage stamps when you were a kid?). Bottom line – I will go back and try the sushi at I Love Sushi again to get a second opinion. Until then I will not add to my trusted sushi joint list.

Overall, I think this is a mediocre Japanese restaurant. They don’t really have top-notch food for the price, their service was alright (nothing spectacular). Just these two factors added up, I’m thinking there are much better places than this one. However, I do really liked their baked rolls. It’s nothing I had ever tried. I think this restaurant will survive for awhile, as long as, they still have business from Silver

It's a fairly casual hangout since its directly connected to a bowling alley. The food was good for my dad but it was just alright for me.

I Love Sushi is located on Schoolhouse near the Coquitlam Silvercity Theatre. This restaurant has a really cute name and thats why I initially wanted to go here. The first time we went, we arrived 30 minutes before they closed, but they would not serve us since they were only doing take-out orders. Understandable, but we were still not happy. M and I came back weeks later since I'm running out of places to try in Coquitlam. I Love Sushi sells the usual items you would find in a Japanese restaurant. The menu is here! Edamame Beans (Complementary) everyone gets these at their table. They were alright, but its on the small side. Philadelphia Roll B ($7.88) has fresh salmon, cream cheese, avocado, and cucumber. It was pretty good. I always love the creamy texture with the avocado and salmon. Yum. Caterpillar Roll ($7.88) has unagi, cucumber, and topped with whole avocado. The avocado seemed a bit unripe and stiff, so it would fall off the roll when you pick it up. It still tasted alright,

Although this is definitely not the cheapest sushi joint, but it's definitely the most convenient for people who are going to the movie or bowling. I for one benefited from this place, by sneaking in dinner at a movie ;p. It definite beat the food at the
