Review Insadong Restaurant - Coquitlam

Jason Cheong
Delicious food and generous portions for what I ordered. Nice spacious booths. Awesome side dishes with even the most basic main course dishes. They use call buttons on each table for their servers and I never had to wait long after pressing for someone to stop by. Will definitely be back!

Awesome food, quick and friendly service. Very attentive. Food was pricey but good. Bibimbap was about $16. All else was $20+ to $30+ each. Busy so come early. Our go to place for Korean food in Burnaby.

First time in this Korean Restaurant. We ordered seafood hotpot on my husbands birthday , it was an early dinner. It was served right away and service was really good. 6 appetizers were included in the food we ordered. We were not able to finished everything. The menu said it’s good for two persons but it’s actually for 4 persons.

A few of us came here for the first time based on the positive ratings. The Korean foodies that were with me felt the food was above average at a great value. We ordered the following with ratings out of 5 stars (1 star being the worse to 5 stars being the best) Gom Tang (slow simmered beef and bone marrow broth with noodles and brisket) – 3.5 stars – just enough flavour at $$13.95 Hot Stone Pot Galbi Bibimbap with 3 side dishes (assorted veggies with prime beef ribs in a stone pot) – 4 stars – slightly cooked the beef too long as it was a bit tough to chew. The best part was the crispy crunchy rice that is stuck to the bottom of the stone pot. Tasty at $19.95 Black Bean Noodle (diced pork & veggies in black bean sauce) – 3 stars – small pieces of pork. Not wowing at $11.95. Original Korean Chicken (deep fried chicken in Korean style sweet chili sauce) – 5 stars – big pieces of chicken that was tasty and cooked to perfection. Sauce wasn’t too hot. Good value at $28.95. For the regular dishes and certain dishes, you received small side dishes that would accompany your Bibimbap or Gom Tang. No one was in the mood to try Korean BBQ mainly due to the price. Not all of the dishes arrived at once which was too bad. You can make reservations. There’s limited parking in front of the restaurant but plenty of street parking on Imperial. They’re open 11 am to 11 pm. The place seemed to be the locals favourite. We doubt we’d be back.

I've come here a couple of times. The food is excellent. I love the tofu seafood hotpot, which I always order. They can get busy with short wait staff. But the food is worth it. The raw beef tartare is also very good, which they serve with asian pear. I recommend this restaurant.

Had the combination dinner for 2 and it was amaze-balls! Everything was delicious, especially the sweet little potatoes! They were so busy and still kept really great service too. Highly recommend! :)

The food is good, Bosam is seasoned and cooked just right. Beef stew is light yet flavourful. The fried rice has that smoky wok flavour but is a bit oily. They get busy and the service is next to none, shot glasses weren’t cleaned properly, both sets of glasses we got still had stains on it.

Really good KBBQ but pricy!🥩 I've been here about 3 times total now over the past few years. Everytime, I'm extremely happy about the quality of food but not so much the bill and service. It's definately one of my go-to for KBBQ in Burnaby if I know I want good food. However the price is always quite expensive when it comes to the bill... expect about $40 per head (assuming coming I'm as 4+ group)

Since the pandemic, I’ve been dreaming about really good Korean bbq. I’ve been to some other places but they weren’t good. So happy I got to visit Insadong while visiting Coquitlam.

I ... Did not enjoy this place. Granted I'm probably one of the worst people to come here because 1. I don't eat a lot of meat and 2. I don't eat much. I sat here for two and a half hours eating a tableful of freaking meat and I hated it. If you're into sauce, grill-yourself meat, this place will be your jam. If the sound of "tableful of freaking meat" doesn't excite you, steer clear of this place.

Possibly the worst dining experience we've had. Horrible service and food. We got here and were seated and our server was rushing us to order our food quickly. It was clear they just wanted to clean up and go home even though there were tables filled. Our food was cold and had zero flavour, disgusting. Save your money and go somewhere else.

August 25, 2018

Came here after a trip to Castle Fun Park in Abbortsford as it was one of my sisters favorite spots to eat at. Lots of mini side dishes with no judgement of multiple refills. We love our potatos. Overall meats were fairly good, but some were quite bland. However I been to Gyu-Kau quite a bit lately, I definitly would choose Gyu-Kaku over Insadong.

Probably won't return.

Each table of 6 split the giant BBQ meat combo, which was a better deal than getting everything separately. Seafood pancake: The seafood pancake was smaller than most, but that was fine since we had more food coming. It was crispy and had a good amount of seafood in it!
Ayeee
One of the best restaurants out there. The soup, the bbq, the side dishes, the staff, everything was perfect! Even the bathroom was clean! Definitely recommend.

Be ready to have your entire table filled with every thing Korean bbq will offer. So easy and fun to do with a group of people or even just a couple of you. Attentive service via. Service button used and on working the floor. Tasty food!!

I don’t think the meat was fresh enough, I kept going to washroom since I went back home. The hot stone ‘pibibam’ was just warm! Service was horrible, The way they looked at me made me felt like I own all the servers big money.

Restaurant is a bit busy when we arrived but got our table in less than 10 minutes. Food was good. Side dishes are great and fresh. Marinated meat is good. Service was fast and the staff are friendly. The place and washroom is clean. Will recommend to try but not my favorite place for Korean Barbecue.
Picky Diner
Flavour wise, the $15 lunch set is just as good as the ones I tasted at Sura (both Downtown and Richmond location), although the excitement of having so many courses for such a cheap price started to wear off a little bit. I really liked the Beef Bulgogi and the Grilled Croaker. Korean staple dishes such as Japchae and Kimchi Pancake were nicely prepared too. This is an awesome deal and it is worth revisiting if I live in Coquitlam. But is it worth the traveling for me? Probably not. However, I would be in for trying their BBQ dishes if I happen to be in the neighbourhood.

We went to this restaurant based on the good ratings in Zomato. Ordered the BBQ combo for 2-3. Good portion and you can get a taste of the salad, seafood tofu soup, seafood pancake and beef/pork/chicken barbecue. Price is reasonable, less than $60 for 3 people. Generous portions as well.

We decided to have Korean BBQ after successfully (finally) beating an escape room! We hit up Insadong which was nearby, and since there were six of us, we decided to just order the deluxe BBQ combination for the table, which was $119. Some kind of simple salad with some smoked salmon on top. I liked the salad more than I would have thought. Pretty small for six people though.

Been here a few occasions and every time it just gets worse. On our most recent visit, service was horrible and food portions seemed to have shrunk. Took them awhile to take our order and we had rung the bell twice (theres a bell you can ring for service). We arrived early at 5pm and even then service was slow. We ordered the BBQ combo for 2-3 and it really only feeds about 2 people and should be called a combo for 2. We ended up ordering bibimbap and an extra order of beef. For $19 a single order of beef only came with 6 thin slices. The japchae was all vegetables with barely any beef. The seafood tofu soup came in a small soup bowl and had two little clams with 2 baby shrimps. The seafood included in the combo were only 2 mussels and 2 shrimps...definitely not a combo for 3. The combo also didn't come with rice so we ordered additional rice. Other Korean Restaurants include rice in their combos. Flavours were so-so if not bland. Seems they have just cheaped out. To top it off we were just finishing off the last of our meal and one of the servers drops off our bill. Thats just rude!! Was not impressed with our visit and won't be back ever!!

This is the place to come to in groups of 4-5 because the combos will be really cheap once the bill is split. The meats are marinated really well, some of the cuts aren't the best. The short rib was a little bit fatty, the smoked salmon salad was actually quite good, but a little over dressed. The soybean soup is yummy, but a bit on the salty sides. I get excited with the condiments when it comes to Korean food. The kimchi was a bit disappointing, but I really liked the potatoes and the cucumbers. Also, the service wasn't the best despite the tables having buzzers to get the attention of the servers. Overall though it's a great joint to hit up with friends or family, it gets busy do make reservations.

We have been to Insadong twice and each time the food quality varies and the service was consistently horrible. To give you an idea, we waited for 40 minutes for our raw food to arrive, so that we can BBQ them..
Food: We ordered the short ribs which was really disappointing as most of the meat had fat attached to it and after cooking, it was very tough and difficult to eat. The pork belly BBQ was not bad.

Service: terrible. Expect your food to be late and your dishes to be dirty. We had to ask them to change our plate because there were food smears and bits on it.

Atmosphere: Pretty good. There are private booths and rooms for good conversations.

To summarize, we will not be returning again.

Insadong is in the heart of Korean town of the North Road neighborhood. We got there just after 5pm on Saturday after a nice 2 hour hike, so we were very hungry. The restaurant was not very full as we were early. The restaurant feels very big as you can see multiple levels with private rooms available for parties.

I was first introduced to Insadong back in 2009 when my former colleague, who is from Korea, recommended the place. Despite the surge in new Korean restaurants since then, they have remained opened in business. Over the years, I have visited Insadong a few times and this review is a culmination of all those visits.

My friend suggested this place after a game of bowling at Holdom. I left the orders up to her and another friend. Our male server was expressionless and was super rude. My friend who wanted to come here looked offended. Midway through, it changed to a girl who was much better. There were many ban-chan to eat from. Seafood pancake $12.99 It was alright. Fluffy but a bit bland, even with all the sauce poured onto it. Marinated Sliced Rib-Eye. These were grilled first along with mushroom. These were pretty good. Most of the meat stayed in tack and it went well wrapped in the leafy greens.

There's something to be said about places that give you that reliable, been there forevver, gonna leave satisfied feel. Insadong is one of those places. You've eaten here before, even if you haven't.

If Insadong were anywhere else, this would be a great thing. Smack in the middle of Koreatown though.... I expect a lot more.

Excellent service - not sure why it has so many poor reviews. We ordered the 2-3 person combo and it was a lot of food for the 2 of us but we finished it. Everything was so tasty, would love to come back with a larger group!
Kitty Lau
At Insadong, you can cook your own food on the grill if you order more than one item. We were a smaller group so we decided on just one BBQ item, and settled on the short ribs. They cook it for you if you only have a single order. These were mouth wateringly savoury. I don't know what they do to marinate it, but it makes the meat so tender and juicy and satisfying. I love Korean BBQ.
Insadong isn't the fanciest of places, but is a great casual dine out spot when you have a large group or are just craving some decent Korean BBQ.

Service is terrible. The food is alright and it's really spacious. But the service is a mood killer

Terrible Service. Absolutely terrible service. This restaurant should consider hiring new waiters and waitresses if they want to have anyone coming back. One waiter was incredibly rude, snatched utensils out of our hands because we were "doing it wrong", and proceeded to have a swearing fit and talked behind our backs (very loudly, might I add). Don't waste your money or time. There are better places to eat Korean BBQ in the lower mainland.
Erin.livingstone
Terrible service. My boyfriend and I both ordered the stir fried udon noodles, which had zero flavour and were microwaved (because parts of the noodles were extremely hot and other parts were cold). To add, the server barely said two words to us the entire time, and when we went up to pay, we waited 10 min at the till for someone to give us our bill. We even had to go back to our table to ring the service button to get someone to come out from the back and help us. Then, finally when someone came out to help us pay, he didn't even utter a word to us. Worst restaurant I've been to in a while.

Insadong Korean BBQ. Visited insadong after a 3 year hiatus...

food was terrible:
-beef rib meat was extremely tough. i'm not talking bits and pieces being tough... the entire order was extremely tough, no matter the degree of doneness. the portion was very small compared to the price and rice was not even included
-out of three of our portable bbq burners, one was completely broken, two had missing feet (putting them at a slant), and all three were old and dirty
-sweet and sour prawns were over breaded and doughy
-we ordered 3 different soups (spicy cod, soft tofu, soybean paste). all three tasted awful... i could cook better blindfolded with my feet

interior:
-interior hasn't changed at all since the last time i've been there. i like their layout. although our private room was very drafty and the washroom was extremely cold

service:
-service was surprisingly friendly. the restaurant was busy but seems understaffed. our server did pretty well under the circumstances

the only thing that comes to mind after this past visit to insadong, is that the owner must be a real cheapskate. lack of heat, poor cuts and small portions of meat, broken burners, and understaffing. fail

Awesome Korean Food!!!. We had Seafood Hot pot, with tuna salad for 2. It was so fresh and delight, 3 person could have so much food for serving size 2. Plus, many side dishes were just awesome. All the seafood were so fresh, and the person served our table was kindly manner. :) thanks for that.
They also have amazing seafood bibimbap! :) Make sure you don't add spicy source there, wait until she does it for You! That's the way you eat the seafood stone grill bibimbap! :) thank you thank you.

I see you again soon:)

Waitress at lunch time gives very bad service. We ordered 2 BBQ dishes. They have us one dish of 4 kinds of side dish. Like all other korean restaurants. They ll refill the side dish for u. But I ask the stupid waitress to refill. She said ok but never got us the second round. She did it on purpose. We ordered the seafood pancake. But we have left overs and we wanted to bring it home. We ask the stupid waitress for more sauce. But she said we cannot bring the sauce out of the restaurant. And told us to use what s left. First of all the sauce was so little when it came. Wed almost used it all up. It's only some more of the sauce. Don't know why she made it like it's some thing so serious that she will not let us bring it home. How can we eat the left overs at home. The goods ok. And this other young waiter there is very nice. If that waitress still work there then I will not want to go to this restaurant again. All because of her bad service. Really ruined my appetite.

Horrible service. What a stupid waiters!

Horrible dinning experience! Their menu is physically filthy and basically falling apart. Table and seats were greasy. Service was miserable and unprofessional. To conclude, there are much better Korean restaurants than Insadong.

I was been there last Sunday July 20 2014.
this is my first time came & eaten there. I went insadong near lougheed with 6 people..
really really bad services at all.. I'm dispointed. .
start I'm coming we didn't got tea.. and we ordered ice water for drink until 3times and we wait until we finished ate.. we done eat..our drink didn't come..of course we very thirsty.. eat without drink >_
and when we told about not satisfied about their services are bad : he just said OK. without say : sorry.. to us....

And this my first time and for sure the last time to come there..sorry..
I will not recommended to my friends to go there...

thank you..

Parking was tough. We went around in circles and eventually parked a few blocks away in the residential area.

Food was awesome. We ordered the set meal for 2-3 people and had plenty of left overs. What we didnt like was the service. We kept on pressing the bell/service button but no servers would come. They all seem to be working hard and it was pretty obvious that the restaurant was seriously understaffed. We wanted to change the BBQ metal tray thing cuz it was getting burnt. After pressing the button for at least 20 times, we gave up on the button and just started waving like retards. By the time a server came to take the tray, it was completely black and smoke was coming from it. Anyway, if u want good food and wouldn't mind getting bad service then this is the place to go.

Fav koren bbq. This Is my favourite Korean bbq restaurant. the food is always tasty and fresh.

Delicious bbq meats. Came with 7 people. Ordered the deluxe bbq (6-7 people). Server brought the jellyfish roll and cold appies (all tasty). Also had a plate of japchae (was it plain? thought it was supposed to be "bulgogi" but I didn't notice any meat in it) and some fried fish and mushroom (tasty). Then he brought the meat platter, set up the bbq, and demo-ed how to do it. All meats were perfectly marinated. So tasty! Meat itself was maybe not top quality (some gristly bits, some fatty bits), but quantity makes up for that (sort of). Service was okay (didn't need them much, thankfully). Decor is nice but the sails on the ceiling could use a wash once in a while. We all left pretty much satisfied.

We stood at the hostess desk for a good five minutes while the host was on the phone, his cell phone, and looking around the restaurant. He completely ignored us and so did the rest of the staff walking back and forth. We walked into the restaurant and stopped a waitress to ask if we should leave. She grabbed the menus and sat us at a table. If only I had more energy after my 14 hour shift to walk away and find another place to eat. After ordering we asked to talk to the manager and were told by our server she was the manager. We expressed our disappointment and said shell talk to the host. The host walked by out table numerous times and didn't stop once, I doubt she talked to him. Food was ok. The side dishes were bland but the kimchi soup was ok.
I'm never going back

Awful service i remember the lady looks like around early or mid 30s was so terrible looking at us and gave terrrible service... without any reasons..Would never go back.. They seriously need better service and waitress than that...:(
David Howe
Terrible service. We got there close to close and after we got our food were completely ignored. I overheard the table next to us was complainig as well.
Sandy Truong
The food was AMAZING and when I went, I had very very VERY attractive servers. (;

Good food, service lacking. We had to ask repeatedly for a refill of our side dishes. At one point my wife had to actually get up, leave the table and remind them they'd forgotten to bring more kimchi. That said, the food was good and plentiful. We had the BBQ combo for 2-3 people, and it could easily have fed 4-5 people. Very reasonably priced.

My Dinner Review. Food: 3.5 / 5 (not too tasty but expensive)
Service:1.5 / 5 (not enough waiters and waitress, only 4~5 were serving for customers even so many ppl were waitin' to have seat. )
Cleanness:1.5 / 5 (washroom was really terrible, and the tables and floors were dirty too)

Recommandation: Honestly, it seemed the servers couldn't control customers, tables, foods, washrooms, etc.
I believe if there are more servers, I will visit this restaurant again,
the ambience of this restaurant made me feel busy too.
Becky
Disgusting particles came out of my food, and waiters are the stupidest and suck at serving! Never going there. So rude!!
Cici Tugs
THE WORST SERVICE EVER. The worst service we have ever seen. Very, very, and very rude waitresses with poor attitudes, mean and rude words, and disrespectful manners toward customers. My friends will never visit there again and we hope Insadong Korean Restaurant closes very soon.
Pokoe
Good food, expensive, poor service, terrible suck yuckie washroom!

Food is fair, too bad a toilet has more customer service.. My family and I have eaten here three times (we like to give places chances to change our opinion) and all three instances we had a terrible experience. The food is the focus of any restaurant and I will admit that they have "ok" food as far as taste, freshness, and authenticity goes (we ordered different things every time and had a family sized bbq the second time inviting my parents to the meal).

UNFORTUNATELY the service is HORRENDOUS, actually its beyond horrendous. The staff treat you with an attitude akin to: "How dare you eat at my restaurant... how dare you ask for "pre dishes" before your food comes..." i could go on,

I write this review because they had the audacity to make us wait for 45 minutes for a meal we didn't get- during which we asked for some of the pre dishes to munch on at the 15, 30, and 40 min marks and were of course assured that they were coming (how hard is it to grab pre-dishes which are largely assorted "preserved" vegetables, the answer is it isn't hard, they are just cheap and snobby).

Moving on, the reason we didn't get our meal was that our waiter apparently forgot our order and they had to come back to our table, after we had waited 45 minutes expecting our food to arrive at any minute, and ask us what we ordered again. At this point we just gave up and walked out, mind you, this wasn't a jam-packed restaurant, they had about half the restaurant seated.

If you took the time to read this review, I applaud you and hope that it was to deter you from a horrible dining experience.

As a suggestion, I would have you visit some much better locations for Korean food in the ample alternatives of North Road: House of Tofu soup is a fantastic authentic experience. Or the Jong Ga, which has excellent soups and a appetizer seafood pancake that is less doughy and much more delicious than the disgusting doughy monstrosity that comes out of Insadong.

Thanks for reading. - A dedicated Foodie.

Good food and service. When my friends and I got to this restaurant for dinner, we had to wait for a while to be seated. It took about 10 minutes before we had a table. We were finally seated, and our table of 5 ordered the BBQ family combo (which was for 4-5 people).

The atmosphere wasn't so peaceful as my friends and I had to shout to hear each other. The food came fairly quickly. We grilled it ourselves. It wasn't extraordinary, but it was delicious and flavorful. I was very satisfied with the meat that came with the combo. Other foods that came included the tofu soup and the seafood pancake. I really liked the seafood pancake 'cause it was fresh. The soup was so-so.

In terms of service, the servers were very friendly. They made conversation with us, and when I was paying, the server asked how everything went. Really good service! They were accommodating and hospitable! I'll come back if I get the chance.

Excellent service & fresh :)
Jon Kim
Hit and miss. Sometimes, they have the greatest service, and sometimes, they just can't do anything right. It's probably due to the number of patrons they serve. Food is usually pretty good though. I have no problems with it.
Jay Johnson
Worst restaurant ever. Worst service, the food took 1 hour to get here, the server constantly forget what we asked for.

I do not know why people even want to eat here with such bad service. And the food is extremely expansive and the portion is extremely small.

The food is average, there are way better restaurants with better food and service for your money.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST.

Great Korean BBQ!. We opted for the Korean BBQ/Seafood Combo which came with beef, chicken, prawns, spicy pork etc, and all the fixings (Seafood pancake, kimchi, etc). Wasn't disappointed! Meats were all very well marinated, and service was very attentive (changed your grills every so often without you asking). Restaurant is super busy, and the wait is out the door, but well worth it!

SO GOOD!. Was in Vancouver visting family and friends. My friends know I really like Korean food. So they took me here. Had an awesome time at Insadong. We went with the combo meal for bbqing and it was a good choice. Very authentic.

Best. Korea bbq outside of Korea? It may well be. Excellent food and authentic korean bbq equipment imported direct from korea. Service felt like quick service at times but the food presentations were great.
Elaine Willis
Disappointing. Food ok, service ok (for Korean style) but restaurant run down and price doesn't match food, service and decor.

I place that never disappoint me.... Perfect for everything, place, food and services.... Only thing is, they don't take reservation under 6 people... :(

....Korean food anyone?. I've been here many times now. The first time here was also one of our first times trying Korean cusine! In other words, we did not really know what to order as well as not knowing what to expect. A buddy suggested I order the meal for 4 because of its portion sizes……nope.

My favourite dish is the Korean tofu soup. Being from Chinese descent, in my opinion, the food here is really good including my tofu soup. We're definitely better at ordering and have a better idea of what to expect. Still learning and still loving it here. In the menu, it does state they will charge you for additional Korean appetizers but I've never been charged yet. Perhaps they've done this so you don't gorge on the free appetizers.

Hostesses are very attentive, alert and polite. They use a digital paging board for service. When you press the button at your table, your table number lights up indicating you require service. I've only seen this in Korean restaurants! GRAEAT concept.

Restaurant is very clean with a phenomenal atmosphere. There are private rooms available in the upper level. Undoubtly, you will not have any problems entertaining large groups here.

The only negative thing about the restaurant is the lack of parking at the plaza. There are quit a few restaurants nearby. Be prepared, parking is a challenge. The food is definitely worth the parking hassle!!

Yea... Not being familiar with Korean food, i came once and had the waitress recommend us a meal, one that introduces us to the cuisine. What we got was pretty much a large platter with a variety of items, which we cook ourselves (was not told, i guess we had to assume). The waitress was not very good at explaining the choices we could have For the two of us, our bill ended up being over $70 for a mediocre meal.
Kiko
My favorite Korean restaurant in town. The best in my mind. They have great service, really friendly staff, and awesome food. Every time I go, I must order their spicy pork BBQ, chicken wings (appetizer), spicy tofu hotpot, japche, and seafood pancake. Thumbs up!
Nikki
Never going back ever. I went there with my boyfriend tonight since BBQ is one of the few things he likes about asian food. We ordered beef short ribs and pork together so we can cook them ourselves. The meats are really bad with lots of fat. They have weird textures and are very stiff. I asked for a bowl of rice twice which was never served to the table. We ended up leaving without touching most of the food. It was that bad. But of course, we had to pay for it even after complaining. It is such an awful restaurant!
Karl
We went there hoping to treat ourselves to a nice Korean BBQ and ended up with meat that doesn't even match what my dog eats. Even the side dishes taste bad. Result is after trying what was given to us we left telling them we couldn't eat such poor quality food and they still insisted on us paying, they even wanted to charge us for rice that never made it to our table...
BAD QUALITY PRODUCTS & TERRIBLE SERVICE
BEWARE !!!
Brandon Yee
Thumbs up!. Yummy korean food :)

Insadong what fun!. Been there twice, it is the most fun I have ever had in a dining experience. The very first time I went with Korean friends who walked me through the experience so I was able to ease my husband into the experience when we travelled to the Coast. What fun! Cooking meats and seafood at your own table, served at first a surprising salad with pin thin slices of beef, then a noodle dish, then the Banchan with its spicy flavours gives an exotic lift to the meats and seafoods that you cook at your very own table....
Mamasita
When I want Korean I go here. It's very yummy. There BBQ meats are nicely marinated with lots of flavour. Sometimes the service can be lacking but tonite is was very good. All in all I had a great meal and it's reasonably priced for a family of 5 for under 50.
Tae Woo Kim
Just any normal Korean restaurant. For me, as a Korean, this is below the level. 'Hongmi' Korean restaurant in downtown is much better.
Gotta Eat
Best seafood tofu. This place is the best Korean restaurant in Coquitlam. The food are really great, the price is reasonable, even the appetizers are really good (especially the potatoes). I always have the seafood tofu, which is really really good. Japche is not bad, but I don't like the seafood pancake.
Jenny Lu
The interior is normal like any Asian restaurants, so I didn't take a lot of pictures. The food is obviously more important than the atmosphere for this type of dining! I remembered that Insadong is usually crazy busy, but surprisingly, it was only half full when i went tonight. My parents and I ordered the couple BBQ combination for 2-3 people ($59.99 4/5), It was more than enough for 3 people! (and my dad eats a lot lol). I think the price isn't too high at a rate of $20 per person. This combination includes beef salad, radish seaweed roll, a choice of seafood non-spicy soft tofu soup or soybean soup , a choice of seafood pancake or bulgogi japche. For BBQ: a piece of marinated beef ribs, marinated beef, spicy pork and chicken bulgogi and 3 pieces of marinated short ribs. FOr seafood BBQ: 3 mussels, 3 prawns and 2 oysters. Beef salad and the radish seaweed roll were very refreshing, It's good for appetizers as well as "desserts" to clean up the heavy flavours. Seafood tofu soup was okay, It was too much for my taste since I don't like seafood that much. The pancake tasted bland, so I added some sauce. They gave us a lot of sauces and side dishes, I loved their kimchi, it's not super salty like other ones but sweet and crispy instead, I actually finished the dish by myself! The BBQ meats were mostly tender, (It also depends on how good you are as a griller?!) The only exception was that some ribs were hard to chew because they had too many tendons attached. But overall the meats were well marinated and flavourful. and once again, I didn't eat any seafood BBQs. Overal Experience: The service was really good, they managed to change our grill FOUR times! We wanted to get some authentic Korean BBQ so our friends in Vancouver did some research and took us to Insadong which is located in Burquitlam. This place was very very busy on the Saturday evening. We didn’t make a reservation so we ended up waiting for about 30 minutes before we got seated.

Best Korean BBQ restaurant in Vancouver! I would totally drive all the way to Coquitlam just for the selected BBQ items mentioned...

Insadong is a very well known Korean restaurant in Burquitlam, as well as the only Korean Restaurant I used to recommend (until I found out about Wang Ga Ma and Toe Dam Korean . This is my third visit since January and prior to these visits, the last visits were during my high school years. I always enjoyed Insadong, thought their prices are pretty decent, and always ordered the combos for two to three, or more. However, rather than selecting the combo options, my friend always chooses a la carte and on the three separate occasions this year, the food sucked. Finally for our fourth visit this year, I was firm on ordering a combo because I have never been disappointed with them. The only reason she does not prefer the combos is because we cannot finish everything and she is not the type to overeat (personally I love to and am guilty of that). This is my first time coming to Insadong on a weekend and usually on weekdays the restaurant is pretty empty. After waiting fifteen minutes fo

Insadong is really spacious and inviting. What my mom liked most about this restaurant is that it is really clean. She took a peek into their kitchen and she was really impressed. She also liked how the spoons were wrapped in paper and just the overall cleanliness of the restaurant.

I also ordered the dolsot bibimbap which is vegetable and beef with rice in a hot stone bowl ($9.99). There was a decent amount of seaweed, mushroom, carrot, bean sprout and spinach. The mushroom pieces were fairly large.

Overall, it was a good meal for dinner. On a Friday night at 7pm, it wasn’t as packed as I thought it would be. Maybe because we had a reservation in a private room that we didn’t notice. Yeah, most likely that. It’s very spacious and clean at Insadong. They also change the BBQ plate thing frequently; it’s like they know when there’s burnt stuff on the plate thing and they come at just the right time to change it!

As I’ve said before, you are the independent variable in this situation, and you’re given the basics to satisfy your palette. All it takes is some stirring, a wallop of hot sauce and just a dash of ingenuity to get you going on your way to becoming a Korean BBQ master.

Insadong is a pretty large restaurant on the corner of Lougheed Hwy and North Road. It cannot be missed. Since the restaurant is so big, they have bells at everyday table (much like the ones on airplanes). So that servers could be notified. Banchan The Banchan here came with 5 small plates and are refillable to your likings. Marinated Chicken Bulgogi and L.A. Beef Short Ribs Since it was just the two of us, we ordered only 2 sorts of meats because that was the minimum order in order for self BBQ. It was a decent portion f

Insadong is a pretty popular Korean restaurant along the Burnaby/Coquitlam border but it was very quiet when we visited for lunch during the weekday… which suits me just fine because I've been getting tired of fighting through all of the masses of people at the mall during xmas shopping.

Recently I've been addicted to Korean sweet rice cakes, so I found myself looking for them in Coquitlam after my stock ran out. Since I was already in the area, I thought I would try one of the more popular Korean BBQ restaurants in town â€" Insadong. The place was relatively packed, considering it was a Monday night. Good sign! Complimentary hot roasted barley tea was offered and promptly refilled throughout the meal. Most of the items on the menu cost around $20, so we decided to get the couple BBQ combo ($59.99) that serves 2-3 people which seemed like a pretty good deal. Little did we know just how good of a deal it was. The food we got could easily have fed 4 people. In preparation of the meal, we were given sauces and lettuce leaves for wrapping the meat in. The sauce in the front that looks like soy sauce tasted exactly like the pink pickled ginger that's usually served with sushi. It was very light, just a bit sweet, and I found it quite refreshing with the heavily marinated

Insadong Korean BBQ Restaurant has been on North Road and Lougheed for a while now and have been serving guests traditional Korean cuisine. The restaurant is pretty huge and can accommodate large groups. I came here with my family for Fathers Day and it was quite busy. Parking was a bit tough but we eventually found a spot. Depending on which area of the restaurant you sit in, it will look different. The area we were in had pretty poor ventilation, so it was very smokey for most of the time. The table we were at wasn’t wiped down properly, so there were bits of food still on it. Family BBQ Combination ($79.99) can serve 4 -5 people but we had a lot of leftovers…so you can have 6 people eat this if you really wanted. In this combo, you get: Smoked Salmon Salad Radish Seaweed Roll Seafood non-spicy tofu soup or soybeans soup Seafood Pancake or Bulgogi Japchae Marinated Beef Galbi Ribs Marinated Chicken Bulgogi Marinated Spicy Pork Bulgogi Marinated Short Ribs Mussels ( 3 pieces) Prawns (

the service was extremely efficient, especially considering the restaurant was full on a Monday evening. The daikon seaweed roll were wonderful and the BBQ meats were very good.

Clean...haha, that's about the most memorable thing about this place. I was here a while back with some friends and family and ended up getting a room in the upper floor. Finding parking was aggrivating to say the least. When I arrived, there was a cloud of smoke hovering around the entrance from some of the patrons who still thought that smoking is good for the health. Upon entering the restaurant, I felt like I was.........in Asia. I know it's bad, but I love eating raw garlic and the miso chili paste wi

The Beef Salad was greatly enjoyed by Hitman. There was pieces of barely, barely cooked tender beef and it went along very well with the slices of pineapples. This was a fairly big size and we barely finished it.
