Since the pandemic, I’ve been dreaming about really good Korean bbq. I’ve been to some other places but they weren’t good. So happy I got to visit Insadong while visiting Coquitlam.
Each table of 6 split the giant BBQ meat combo, which was a better deal than getting everything separately. Seafood pancake: The seafood pancake was smaller than most, but that was fine since we had more food coming. It was crispy and had a good amount of seafood in it!
One of the best restaurants out there. The soup, the bbq, the side dishes, the staff, everything was perfect! Even the bathroom was clean! Definitely recommend.
Be ready to have your entire table filled with every thing Korean bbq will offer. So easy and fun to do with a group of people or even just a couple of you. Attentive service via. Service button used and on working the floor. Tasty food!!
Flavour wise, the $15 lunch set is just as good as the ones I tasted at Sura (both Downtown and Richmond location), although the excitement of having so many courses for such a cheap price started to wear off a little bit. I really liked the Beef Bulgogi and the Grilled Croaker. Korean staple dishes such as Japchae and Kimchi Pancake were nicely prepared too. This is an awesome deal and it is worth revisiting if I live in Coquitlam. But is it worth the traveling for me? Probably not. However, I would be in for trying their BBQ dishes if I happen to be in the neighbourhood.
We went to this restaurant based on the good ratings in Zomato. Ordered the BBQ combo for 2-3. Good portion and you can get a taste of the salad, seafood tofu soup, seafood pancake and beef/pork/chicken barbecue. Price is reasonable, less than $60 for 3 people. Generous portions as well.
We decided to have Korean BBQ after successfully (finally) beating an escape room! We hit up Insadong which was nearby, and since there were six of us, we decided to just order the deluxe BBQ combination for the table, which was $119. Some kind of simple salad with some smoked salmon on top. I liked the salad more than I would have thought. Pretty small for six people though.
This is the place to come to in groups of 4-5 because the combos will be really cheap once the bill is split. The meats are marinated really well, some of the cuts aren't the best. The short rib was a little bit fatty, the smoked salmon salad was actually quite good, but a little over dressed. The soybean soup is yummy, but a bit on the salty sides. I get excited with the condiments when it comes to Korean food. The kimchi was a bit disappointing, but I really liked the potatoes and the cucumbers. Also, the service wasn't the best despite the tables having buzzers to get the attention of the servers. Overall though it's a great joint to hit up with friends or family, it gets busy do make reservations.
Insadong is in the heart of Korean town of the North Road neighborhood. We got there just after 5pm on Saturday after a nice 2 hour hike, so we were very hungry. The restaurant was not very full as we were early. The restaurant feels very big as you can see multiple levels with private rooms available for parties.
I was first introduced to Insadong back in 2009 when my former colleague, who is from Korea, recommended the place. Despite the surge in new Korean restaurants since then, they have remained opened in business. Over the years, I have visited Insadong a few times and this review is a culmination of all those visits.
My friend suggested this place after a game of bowling at Holdom. I left the orders up to her and another friend. Our male server was expressionless and was super rude. My friend who wanted to come here looked offended. Midway through, it changed to a girl who was much better. There were many ban-chan to eat from. Seafood pancake $12.99 It was alright. Fluffy but a bit bland, even with all the sauce poured onto it. Marinated Sliced Rib-Eye. These were grilled first along with mushroom. These were pretty good. Most of the meat stayed in tack and it went well wrapped in the leafy greens.
Excellent service - not sure why it has so many poor reviews. We ordered the 2-3 person combo and it was a lot of food for the 2 of us but we finished it. Everything was so tasty, would love to come back with a larger group!
At Insadong, you can cook your own food on the grill if you order more than one item. We were a smaller group so we decided on just one BBQ item, and settled on the short ribs. They cook it for you if you only have a single order. These were mouth wateringly savoury. I don't know what they do to marinate it, but it makes the meat so tender and juicy and satisfying. I love Korean BBQ.
Insadong isn't the fanciest of places, but is a great casual dine out spot when you have a large group or are just craving some decent Korean BBQ.
Fav koren bbq. This Is my favourite Korean bbq restaurant. the food is always tasty and fresh.
Delicious bbq meats. Came with 7 people. Ordered the deluxe bbq (6-7 people). Server brought the jellyfish roll and cold appies (all tasty). Also had a plate of japchae (was it plain? thought it was supposed to be "bulgogi" but I didn't notice any meat in it) and some fried fish and mushroom (tasty). Then he brought the meat platter, set up the bbq, and demo-ed how to do it. All meats were perfectly marinated. So tasty! Meat itself was maybe not top quality (some gristly bits, some fatty bits), but quantity makes up for that (sort of). Service was okay (didn't need them much, thankfully). Decor is nice but the sails on the ceiling could use a wash once in a while. We all left pretty much satisfied.
The food was AMAZING and when I went, I had very very VERY attractive servers. (;
Good food, service lacking. We had to ask repeatedly for a refill of our side dishes. At one point my wife had to actually get up, leave the table and remind them they'd forgotten to bring more kimchi. That said, the food was good and plentiful. We had the BBQ combo for 2-3 people, and it could easily have fed 4-5 people. Very reasonably priced.
Good food and service. When my friends and I got to this restaurant for dinner, we had to wait for a while to be seated. It took about 10 minutes before we had a table. We were finally seated, and our table of 5 ordered the BBQ family combo (which was for 4-5 people).
The atmosphere wasn't so peaceful as my friends and I had to shout to hear each other. The food came fairly quickly. We grilled it ourselves. It wasn't extraordinary, but it was delicious and flavorful. I was very satisfied with the meat that came with the combo. Other foods that came included the tofu soup and the seafood pancake. I really liked the seafood pancake 'cause it was fresh. The soup was so-so.
In terms of service, the servers were very friendly. They made conversation with us, and when I was paying, the server asked how everything went. Really good service! They were accommodating and hospitable! I'll come back if I get the chance.
Excellent service & fresh :)
Great Korean BBQ!. We opted for the Korean BBQ/Seafood Combo which came with beef, chicken, prawns, spicy pork etc, and all the fixings (Seafood pancake, kimchi, etc). Wasn't disappointed! Meats were all very well marinated, and service was very attentive (changed your grills every so often without you asking). Restaurant is super busy, and the wait is out the door, but well worth it!
SO GOOD!. Was in Vancouver visting family and friends. My friends know I really like Korean food. So they took me here. Had an awesome time at Insadong. We went with the combo meal for bbqing and it was a good choice. Very authentic.
Best. Korea bbq outside of Korea? It may well be. Excellent food and authentic korean bbq equipment imported direct from korea. Service felt like quick service at times but the food presentations were great.
I place that never disappoint me.... Perfect for everything, place, food and services.... Only thing is, they don't take reservation under 6 people... :(
My favorite Korean restaurant in town. The best in my mind. They have great service, really friendly staff, and awesome food. Every time I go, I must order their spicy pork BBQ, chicken wings (appetizer), spicy tofu hotpot, japche, and seafood pancake. Thumbs up!
Thumbs up!. Yummy korean food :)
Insadong what fun!. Been there twice, it is the most fun I have ever had in a dining experience. The very first time I went with Korean friends who walked me through the experience so I was able to ease my husband into the experience when we travelled to the Coast. What fun! Cooking meats and seafood at your own table, served at first a surprising salad with pin thin slices of beef, then a noodle dish, then the Banchan with its spicy flavours gives an exotic lift to the meats and seafoods that you cook at your very own table....
When I want Korean I go here. It's very yummy. There BBQ meats are nicely marinated with lots of flavour. Sometimes the service can be lacking but tonite is was very good. All in all I had a great meal and it's reasonably priced for a family of 5 for under 50.
Best seafood tofu. This place is the best Korean restaurant in Coquitlam. The food are really great, the price is reasonable, even the appetizers are really good (especially the potatoes). I always have the seafood tofu, which is really really good. Japche is not bad, but I don't like the seafood pancake.
The interior is normal like any Asian restaurants, so I didn't take a lot of pictures. The food is obviously more important than the atmosphere for this type of dining! I remembered that Insadong is usually crazy busy, but surprisingly, it was only half full when i went tonight. My parents and I ordered the couple BBQ combination for 2-3 people ($59.99 4/5), It was more than enough for 3 people! (and my dad eats a lot lol). I think the price isn't too high at a rate of $20 per person. This combination includes beef salad, radish seaweed roll, a choice of seafood non-spicy soft tofu soup or soybean soup , a choice of seafood pancake or bulgogi japche. For BBQ: a piece of marinated beef ribs, marinated beef, spicy pork and chicken bulgogi and 3 pieces of marinated short ribs. FOr seafood BBQ: 3 mussels, 3 prawns and 2 oysters. Beef salad and the radish seaweed roll were very refreshing, It's good for appetizers as well as "desserts" to clean up the heavy flavours. Seafood tofu soup was okay, It was too much for my taste since I don't like seafood that much. The pancake tasted bland, so I added some sauce. They gave us a lot of sauces and side dishes, I loved their kimchi, it's not super salty like other ones but sweet and crispy instead, I actually finished the dish by myself! The BBQ meats were mostly tender, (It also depends on how good you are as a griller?!) The only exception was that some ribs were hard to chew because they had too many tendons attached. But overall the meats were well marinated and flavourful. and once again, I didn't eat any seafood BBQs. Overal Experience: The service was really good, they managed to change our grill FOUR times! The food is still consistent even after all these years in service. Side dishes gave me chills, especially their kimchi! I'm prett
Overall, it was a good meal for dinner. On a Friday night at 7pm, it wasn’t as packed as I thought it would be. Maybe because we had a reservation in a private room that we didn’t notice. Yeah, most likely that. It’s very spacious and clean at Insadong. They also change the BBQ plate thing frequently; it’s like they know when there’s burnt stuff on the plate thing and they come at just the right time to change it!
As I’ve said before, you are the independent variable in this situation, and you’re given the basics to satisfy your palette. All it takes is some stirring, a wallop of hot sauce and just a dash of ingenuity to get you going on your way to becoming a Korean BBQ master.
Insadong is a pretty popular Korean restaurant along the Burnaby/Coquitlam border but it was very quiet when we visited for lunch during the weekday… which suits me just fine because I've been getting tired of fighting through all of the masses of people at the mall during xmas shopping.
Recently I've been addicted to Korean sweet rice cakes, so I found myself looking for them in Coquitlam after my stock ran out. Since I was already in the area, I thought I would try one of the more popular Korean BBQ restaurants in town â" Insadong. The place was relatively packed, considering it was a Monday night. Good sign! Complimentary hot roasted barley tea was offered and promptly refilled throughout the meal. Most of the items on the menu cost around $20, so we decided to get the couple BBQ combo ($59.99) that serves 2-3 people which seemed like a pretty good deal. Little did we know just how good of a deal it was. The food we got could easily have fed 4 people. In preparation of the meal, we were given sauces and lettuce leaves for wrapping the meat in. The sauce in the front that looks like soy sauce tasted exactly like the pink pickled ginger that's usually served with sushi. It was very light, just a bit sweet, and I found it quite refreshing with the heavily marinated
Insadong Korean BBQ Restaurant has been on North Road and Lougheed for a while now and have been serving guests traditional Korean cuisine. The restaurant is pretty huge and can accommodate large groups. I came here with my family for Fathers Day and it was quite busy. Parking was a bit tough but we eventually found a spot. Depending on which area of the restaurant you sit in, it will look different. The area we were in had pretty poor ventilation, so it was very smokey for most of the time. The table we were at wasn’t wiped down properly, so there were bits of food still on it. Family BBQ Combination ($79.99) can serve 4 -5 people but we had a lot of leftovers…so you can have 6 people eat this if you really wanted. In this combo, you get: Smoked Salmon Salad Radish Seaweed Roll Seafood non-spicy tofu soup or soybeans soup Seafood Pancake or Bulgogi Japchae Marinated Beef Galbi Ribs Marinated Chicken Bulgogi Marinated Spicy Pork Bulgogi Marinated Short Ribs Mussels ( 3 pieces) Prawns (
1 week of spring break is already long gone. gone were the days that i get to take semesters off and bum around. condensing 4 months of workload into 1 month scares me a hell lot but i accept that i'm taking summer school . all along, i thought i will be
Insadong- Located in "Korean Town" (Coquitlam) is a great place for Korean BBQ. This is always the first place I think of when I want some authentic, Korean style BBQ. This place is quite big with a traditional style interior. They even have the "request
the service was extremely efficient, especially considering the restaurant was full on a Monday evening. The daikon seaweed roll were wonderful and the BBQ meats were very good.
Insadong is one of our favorite places to go for Korean food. Out of the numerous Korean restaurants around the Lougheed area, it is probably the most popular, acclaimed, and well known (it is the winner of 'Best Korean Restaurant' in the weekly paper). W
Insadong is one of the MANY Korean restaurants in what I call Korean Town (the area around Lougheed mall). Despite numerous Korean restaurants, this one still stand out. This place is owned by Korean, with all Korean waiters and waitresses (at least from
Insadong Korean Restaurant (website, map, photos, 403 North Road, Coquitlam, BC, Canada, phone: 604-936-3778) is one of my new favorite places to go for Korean food in the Greater Vancouver area. It’s located just on the Coquitlam side of North Road, near
Vancouver is blessed with a myriad of choices when it comes to Korean cuisine. Already, I’ve personally visited a selection of them, with related reports posted here on Foodosophy. By no means is this a complete listing, as many other known establishments
Delicious food and generous portions for what I ordered. Nice spacious booths. Awesome side dishes with even the most basic main course dishes. They use call buttons on each table for their servers and I never had to wait long after pressing for someone to stop by. Will definitely be back!
Awesome food, quick and friendly service. Very attentive. Food was pricey but good. Bibimbap was about $16. All else was $20+ to $30+ each. Busy so come early. Our go to place for Korean food in Burnaby.
First time in this Korean Restaurant. We ordered seafood hotpot on my husbands birthday , it was an early dinner. It was served right away and service was really good. 6 appetizers were included in the food we ordered. We were not able to finished everything. The menu said it’s good for two persons but it’s actually for 4 persons.
I've come here a couple of times. The food is excellent. I love the tofu seafood hotpot, which I always order. They can get busy with short wait staff. But the food is worth it. The raw beef tartare is also very good, which they serve with asian pear. I recommend this restaurant.
Had the combination dinner for 2 and it was amaze-balls! Everything was delicious, especially the sweet little potatoes! They were so busy and still kept really great service too. Highly recommend! :)
The food is good, Bosam is seasoned and cooked just right. Beef stew is light yet flavourful. The fried rice has that smoky wok flavour but is a bit oily. They get busy and the service is next to none, shot glasses weren’t cleaned properly, both sets of glasses we got still had stains on it.
Really good KBBQ but pricy!🥩
I've been here about 3 times total now over the past few years. Everytime, I'm extremely happy about the quality of food but not so much the bill and service. It's definately one of my go-to for KBBQ in Burnaby if I know I want good food.
However the price is always quite expensive when it comes to the bill... expect about $40 per head (assuming coming I'm as 4+ group)
