Review Narita Sushi - Coquitlam

The sushi was really good! This is a nice, clean, and good service sushi restaurant. I like how the tables are in booths, so I feel very safe during this time even with coronavirus being around. The server didn't understand English very well, so it took a bit to communicate with her with regards to my questions, but overall I would recommend this restaurant!

I was highly anticipating this sushi parlor after checking out the raving reviews, but was a huge let down for me. The Miso Soup 御味御付 was very weak tasting. Followed by our Roll selections, mostly were broken rolls, not rolled properly and very difficult to eat/falling apart. The rolls with brown rice had no textural or tasting difference and I'm pretty sure was intact normal white sushi Rice, the Yam Roll was also uncooked and therefore inside Yam Tempura filling was hard and chewy. The Prawn Tempura was also massively inconsistent in size and I think was actually unfrozen defrostwd Prawns. The Edamame 枝 was good, but difficult in my opinion to get wrong. The Wasabi was also really mushy and more a liquid- based mushy texture. The highlight for me was the Inari Nigiri, always a flawless knockout. The 10% discount when showing a movie stub is dope and a good reason for post movie sushi. Service was also pretty slow, although the server was lovely there was food sat out for a while. I hate to not compliment local businesses but this was an embarrassing visit when showing some friends around town.

Great sushi place, forgot to take photos of the rest of our food but we also got the agedashi tofu, and I love that they put the broth on the side instead of on top of the tofu, so it stayed super crispy the whole time! We also shared a Harry Potter roll and wow it was amazing! This is definitely our new go-to spot in our neighbourhood 🥰

A very cozy sushi restaurant in Coquitlam. The staff were really nice and the food was very good. Lots of vegetarian options. The miso soup was not the greatest but everything else was amazing. Highly recommend the Mr. Bean roll. The tempura was also quite nice. Their wasabi was so fresh. I would say this place is a must try.

I have been this resturant twice so far and every visit was fantastic! All food were good and servers were kind. I will definitely visit here again if I visit this area again.

Dropped in for 2 people, no wait on a Saturday afternoon shortly before close! Sat down and immediately ordered both the salmon aburi oshi and then 2 pieces of the regular salmon aburi and it is honestly some of the best aburi I have ever had. I prefer Narita's aburi WAAAY over Miku in Vancouver. The torching was perfect and gave it the perfect flavor- I could honestly eat it all day! We also ordered the pork gyoza which were also amazing! I tend to find most places gyoza taste very “samey”, but this place had a really nice flavour and a well balanced gyoza dipping sauce. Also ordered an asparagus cream cheese roll which I LOVE. We also got the beef udon which was such a nice comfort meal with GREAT flavor. Not too salty/strong, and not bland. Really well balanced and delicious! 100% recommend checking them out if you love aburi and/or sushi!!

Very good sushi :) I had the sashimi dinner set which was around $16. I think for what I got, it was a very good deal. There was nothing that special about it but it was tasty.

The decor of the restaurant is still rustic, which is nice, it’s really not a big place but they’re constantly busy with take out orders. The prices are fairly reasonable. However, with the limited about of tables they had inside, the service was quite poor. There were 2-3 servers and every time you peeked to get their attention, they’d be leaning over and chatting with the chefs. I’ll give this place another shot in the near future, given the quality of the food is quite good with good portions.

Stopped in for dinner after a movie... We were seated quickly by their friendly staff. They have an excellent selection of rolls. I had wild salmon sashimi, miso and ebi sunomono, my partner and I both had one of the specialty rolls.<br/><br/>Food was served quickly, with edamame as an appetizer. It was all very good, the sunomono was will prepared and i could taste a hint of wine in the vinegar. The chef also provided is with a small dish of deep fried salmon, on the house, which was very thoughtful: I had mentioned never trying tempura or deep fried salmon before.<br/><br/>The tea kept coming as needed, and the service was excellent overall. I did forget to show them out movie ticket for the 10% discount over $30, but I will remember next time we see a movie at the theatre across the street.<br/><br/>All in all, a nice little restaurant that is apparently very popular - given the amount local people that were coming in for takeout while we were there. A definite good choice.

they might have the best chicken wings in the Asian realm of  cooking. had lunch here many times. might have to go back this week. if you're in the area check it out

I can't say either it's good or it's bad. We picked up a bunch of rolls and appetizers the other day as my coworker mentioned it is pretty good considering where it is located. They had a pretty long list of special rolls. Only problem is that they don't seem to know how to fry things well considering alot of them had either potato "flakes" or deep fried rolls. Or maybe because they became a tad too soggy after driving back to the office. Overall on the bland size. Missing sweetness spiciness or saltiness. I know some ppl like to eat them with soya sauce but I personally don't. The point of ordering special rolls is that the combination of ingredients and sauces are well put together that you wouldn't need any other condiments. The beef yakisoba was also bland. Not much of flavour besides the oil with a hint of soya. The owners were really generous and not cheap on the toppings but things need to be worked on for sure.

I've been a huge fan of Narita Sushi's creative rolls for 2 years.  Today I tried one of their new menus which name is Aburi sushi. It was fabulous and so tasty. Rice was just nice and the seared salmon was very juicy- It was perfect harmony. I high recommend this place to who wants to enjoy high-end and creative sushi with reasonable price. Must try. :)

Narita sushi, has some very original rolls.<br/>Their movie named rolls have some real creative ingridient combination that I haven't seen in anywhere else. However, I am unlikely to recommend this restaurant.<br/><br/>To write this review I went to this restaurant a few times.The consistency of sushi rice was different every time(twice too moist and once perfect), and their fish was a tad stale. <br/>Their menus range from 3-4 dollars casual (standard) rolls to 8-9 dollar movie rolls. Of their movie themed items I would recommend the Yam island, because you get a decent pile of yum tempura. The batter was on the bit oily side, (thick) but considering that it's a two in one menu for the price of one it's pretty good. Their box sets are 12-16 dollar range, and their teriyaki sauce was a bit too sweet. You do get your bang for your buck though, in terms of portion size. It's not as big as California sushi, but it wasn't the smallest I've came across, as you can see in the picture in comparison to coke can.<br/>Their miso soup is on the smaller and a bit salty side, but their sunomono was good.<br/>Tend to skimp on raw fish, so I would recommend against getting sashimi here.<br/>Tried a few of mostly their movie rolls here, and their rolls tend to be a bit bland, so I recommend getting items that has more sauce on top. Their strong suite is actually the selection of appitizers, 4-6 dollar median. Reflect chef's creative ideas.<br/><br/>The store only has one parking stall to their name, but the mall has some shared parking area you can park, and it's generally slow mall so you won't have trouble parking.<br/>Unfortunately their service isn't the greatest. Been there a few times, and each time the waitress only checked in with me once despite the time I visited was the downtime. (3-5pm) I cannot comment on their robata items because I did not order any.

I actually enjoyed Narita Sushi.  I felt that there was enough variety on the menu to keep me intested and there was some real originality here. I did feel that they were a bit heavy on the use of teriyaki sauce and that their teriyaki sauce was a bit heavy on the suger.  Nonetheless, this was a nice pre-movie meal.

I went to try this restaurant. Ordered an unagi don. I got a big bowl of rice with a suprisingly meagre amount of unagi (eel). It was kinda weird. Im a foody and conservative person. But i have to say to you to not eat here. Your experience may be better; that is my hope.

Good place, if my 11 year old like it then there is no complains. I'm happy. I will come back to this place for sure. Price is the average for this kind of small sushi restaurants.<br/>

The sushi here is different from other restaurants! You can taste the difference in quality and flavour of the food. The service is also quick and friendly. Highly recommended!

Was not impressed. I'm not a regular sushi person but the overall taste not appealing. Salmon roll was mostly skin. Rice bowl had uncooked egg

I have been going to Narita for years for sushi . I have noticed in the last six months or so that the portions are getting smaller. Tonight we ordered our usual order. The Washington roll was considerably smaller And cold- guess we are premaking rolls ? Same with the yam roll which the yam looked to be cold too. The tuna and salmon sashimi was good but small portions. <br/><br/>I really did like going to Narita in the past- not sure when I'll be back now. Off to find another place.

The first item to arrive was the eight-piece Salmon Sashimi. My mom kept complaining the pieces were too small, but I thought that the superior freshness of the salmon made up for the smaller cuts. The sashimi had a nice, smooth texture and a delicious, creamy flavour.

Great food with a lot of choices. I often drop by this place on tuesdays when the movie is cheap because they give 10 percent off if you have the movie tickets and we are never disappointed. The price is reasonable, there are many types of special rolls, and the food is usually quick unless its very busy. They give complementary snacks which I look forward to. the Crazy boy roll and the max roll is my fav. Great neighbor sushi place!

Disappointed. The food is slightly overpriced but nothing special. Service is slow and unsatisfactory. Took our waiter a while to get us seated and didn't give us chopsticks until our food arrived. We didn't even get spoons with our miso soups. Overall average food but poor service.

Make sure you confirm your takeout order. We consider ourselves regulars and we usually only come here for take out since it's close to the office but this time they took our order incorrectly (double the price) and did not offer to give us the correct order. We felt bad so we paid for it anyways. So since this happened I might as well leave a review and state that their food is just OK and what you would expect any Japanese restaurant. Just slightly disappointed they did not offer us anything and blaming us for the incorrect order.

So good!. I was there for dinner on Tuesday. We had few rolls and appetizers , they were so good !!! and price was very reasonable. Also the service was excellent! The server was friendly and nice to us. we will definitely go :back soon as possible! :)

Good sushi place!. Narita is a great sushi place! You can try all their special rolls pretty much all of them are good. Only problem is they stuff a lot of their rolls with California stuffing. The best part? They do not serve farmed salmon, only wild pacific salmon! So you don't even have to ask to substitute wild salmon truly awesome!

That was pretty bad... Just had a teriyaki chicken box lunch special with an orange half, sunomono salad, miso soup, 2 gyozas. Chicken had no teriyaki sauce and tasted like it was boiled. It came on bean sprouts and no rice. The two gyozas that were bland and tasted boiled and they placed in 2 inches of some sort of sauce that didn't help it. The sunomono salad had noodles that were still crunchy. The California rolls were just okay, smelt fishy. How do you mess up miso soup? Way too salty. What a disappointment, I will not go back.

This place is SO DELICIOUS!!!! I would defs go back! The pricing is a tad bit more expensive than sushi town but its worth it. The special rolls are SO good and have great presentation! Must give it a try

Super Bland Sushi. Doesn't like it !!!<br/>The rolls are not well packed. The ingredients are not enough, Super bland rice roll. Not the real taste of sushi.

Amazing food.. I have been ordering take out from this restaurant for 4 years now and I live in Burnaby.<br/>I love this place, the food is excellent , always fresh, and so far I have not had one dish I did not like.<br/>The staff are very friendly and polite. And always make a point of saying" thank you and goodbye" before I leave.

I love their rolls and teriyaki. My favorite roll is the Queen's roll it has mango ontop.

Must Try!. I went to this restaurant a week ago with my wife and kids. The inside looks like a traditional Tokyo sushi restaurant with a history, a little crowded and not artificially decorated but very tidy and neat. <br/><br/>I ordered Love Combo, Queens role and some tempura. I found Love Combo on my table was exactly same as their picture. Its sashimi was thick enough to feel rich texture and sushi was so fresh as it was shiny on my photo. <br/>I ordered Queen's Role because I had never heard before. (Later, my server mentioned the chef invented this role for his wife and her friends. There was a family man story with the role.) This role has deep, deep cream cheese and fresh mango taste. It was even like a fresh desert. "Must try!" At least, it will save your money for desert dish. Fully enriched cheeeeesy taste goes well after Sushi and Sashimi. <br/>When I checked out, I came to know the main chef is ex-Hyatt cook. <br/>It's not like "Five Stars" restaurant but the taste and quality compared to what I paid was like "Five Stars". I felt like I found a hidden gem in my neighbor hood and this restaurant seems like going to be one of folk's favorite. <br/><br/><br/>Must go place if you want to taste the original Japanese sushi and special role than monotonous thick westernized role.

Since it's close to my work I usually go there and everything is great. Their pictures on the menu r exactly the same to the real food and ppl r so kind. Chef gives special service sometimes and i loveeeee it!!

Our Favorite!. We live in New west and come to Narita for sushi. Its always great and fresh. All their rolls are great, the Sashimi wonderful (good salmon not fatty!) their agadashi tofu is the best we've ever had and get it everytime we eat there (or order out!!) the Ebi Gyoza Mmmmmm. I could go on and on!

I used to live near this place and it was the best sushi in the area. Good value and consistently good quality which I find very important with sushi. The dinner boxes are the perfect mix for me. They keep things fairly traditional which I really like. Now I live on the other side of town but still make the trip for take out.

#1 Favorite of Ours and Our Friends!. When I moved to BC I knew one of the first things I needed to do was find a great sushi place. Some friends suggested Narita. For 8 years now it has been our top choice. We mostly do take-out. The Kalbi (short-ribs) are delicious. The chicken Karage is the best I've had anywhere. The sushi is always very fresh with good flavor. I am crazy about Japanese food, my husband not so much... but he LOVES the tempura and teryaki from Narita so this is a great place to introduce people to the cuisine. We've only had positive dealings with the staff. The sushi may not be uber creative but it is tasty, high quality, well portioned food for quite reasonable prices.

My girlfriend and I have been going here for two years. The place isn't the biggest but it is comfortable. The sushi is very good, especially their terriyaki. the waitress and chef are always nice! They recognize us and a few times we got free pop (c-plus) even without asking. Great local place to eat if you live nearby.

Best in the Area - by far. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. Everything is always fresh, service is always fast even when they're busy. Its a small place, maybe 30 seats, most tables are separated by dividers so you get a little privacy if you like! Value is great, for 2, with mixed rolls, sashimi, and a teriyaki dish, never over $25 - and we're not small eaters at all. We've tried others in the area, and we always keep coming back, for over 3 years now.

Coming down from SFU, a few of us wanted to get some sushi, but the place we wanted to go to wouldn't let us order even though they were open. So, we drove to Narita Sushi as an alternative. They are located close to the SilverCity Theatres in Coquitlam. They have all the usual sushi and typical items. Tea ! Edamame (Complementary). It tasted quite normal, which is good! No complaints here Negitoro Roll and Alaska Roll Negitoro Roll has pieces of tuna with green onions. Its a bit different than other places where they just mash them all together. Alaska roll has crab, avocado, cream cheese, cucumber, and topped with smoked salmon. Ebi Sunomono ($3.75) has tons of little shrimp! Look at all of that! Takoyaki Sushi Box Combo ($13.50) has ebi nigiri, tuna nigiri, salmon nigiri, dynamite roll, tempura, green salad, gyoza, ebi sunomono, and miso soup. The box was huge! I barely finished it since the dynamite roll was quite large. The tempura was really good, but I found the other items dece
