Review Jimoco - Coquitlam

Very nice food,I love their curry seafood linguine which isn't on the menu anymore, but they are still willing to make me.We also order meatballs spaghetti, they made more than enough sauce if you like saucy noodles.Taste good!šŸ˜‹

I ordered foods from Ubereats, they were great!! Like the flavour, and the pasta was cooked perfectly, just right level of softness.

Great restaurant! I've been coming here quite a few times and I really enjoy the food and service! Price is reasonable and they have a wide variety of pasta on their menu. Amazing food and great price! Highly recommend!

We tried a variety of pasta from Jimoco, including the Linguine Soul and the Carbonara. It was good value but the taste was average.

My wife was craving for Italian foods, especially risotto, and Jimoco cafe didn't disappoint. The risotto manzo was really delicious, cooked with perfect temperature and texture. We also had linguine seafood parma, and it was fresh and delicious as well. The restaurant also has good atmosphere for dine-in. We can't recommend this place enough, and will definitely come back again!

Usually I order in, and the meals are always very good and are a good portion size. This was my first time visiting their restaurant. The seating is in booths, so it's suitably socially distanced. They had sanitizer available, and of course everyone was wearing masks. Service was good and the food came pretty quickly. Prices are pretty good considering the amount of seafood I usually get in my pastas. So far I've had no complaints after trying their risottos, gnocchi, and other pastas.

Great portions n kindly customer service :)

they used to have authentic Italian tasting pasta but not anymore. The pasta had questionable chicken chunks and a weird flavor. Tasted more Asian than italian. They need to use better olive oil, more garlic and a little less sauce. price has drastically increased too. Sorry not going back.

Korean owend pasta spot. We ordered the bruschetta, spicy seafood linguini, and the creamy cheese risotto. The bruschetta was not good, wouldn't order it again. The pasta and risotto however were both great! A good amount of clams and mussels in the dishes so you are getting your money's worth. Service was also excellent. We would come back.

A casual place to enjoy a simple lunch in Coquitlam
The waitress is polite and friendly
She was the only one server during the visit
She is effective to provide timely service

The food is tasty but not special.
The price is good.

Awesome cafe! They offer buy one get one free for their pastas.

We ordered their mushroom risotto and linguine. Although, their pasta isnā€™t home made, they were well prepared. The flavour is rich but may not be the best we have ever had.

Attentive service!

We LOVE LOVE Jimoco its our go to place for takeout once a week sometimes twice a week for the last two years. The staff are very friendly, food gets made fast and fresh you get huge portions for what you pay for.Ā If you haven't been here you gotta check this place out!

The Porcini & Lazio (BOGO) was amazing! I will definitely be back as there many other items on the menu yet to try! More food than 1 person can eat, but now I have lunch for tomorrow! Not bad for $20!
Jimoco Cafe and Pasta is located on Austin Avenue in Coquitlam. They have very limited parking out there. They have variety of pasta to choose with different sauces.

Pasta are very tasty, and it is hard to say no for such an awesome 2 for 1 deal. We love their garlic bread with unlimited refill. šŸ˜ The garlic bread is a perfect combination match with the pasta.

Linguini Soul is a must try one! I can't wait to try their other pasta! šŸ˜‹

Food: 4.5/5
Services: 5/5
Parking: 3.5/5
Features: pasta (such as Linguini Soul) and garlic bread
Love4food
Pretty good pasta for a local place, dunno why it's 2 for 1. They should just list the pastas at half the 2 for 1 price, which would be the same thing , just not so gimmicky. But overall good food and servers!

Amazing food and value. Had a great meal with my wife for under $30. Would recommend to friends and we will be back. Service was very friendly and was very prompt.

Italian food has always been a favorite of mine ever since childhood. I remember begging my mom to go eat at the pizza hut near our house (Iā€™m well-aware that they serve American-style Italian food, but you get the point) back before I immigrated to Canada. Thatā€™s why anytime Iā€™m able to try out a highly recommended Italian restaurant like Jimoco, unless Iā€™m badly craving something else I jump on the opportunity.

went with my friends recently. very busy restaurant and luckily one of my girls got to there early and snagged us a table. ordering was a breeze - the waitress immediately informed us of the 2 for 1 deal. she was nice and provided us with complimentary garlic bread. took our orders and the food came out quite quick. there was a minor snug with one of my friend's dish - there was a mixup in the kitchen. the waitress was rly nice and offered us a slight discount (it ended up being not too much but it was a nice gesture). portions were very generous and the pasta was delish.
Jon Rob
Suprisingly small portions for 2 for 1 pasta. Pasta needed seasoning aka salt n pepper. Pretty flavorless. Garlic bread wasnt very garlicky. Not really very impressed which is too bad since i'd heard good things about this place. Maybe it was all hype. Dont know if ill try it again.

First time, I went with my family for pasta, we ordered the two for one pasta deal! I like how the food came out hot! I love their garlic bread, I definitely will go back for delicious pasta and it's local!! I enjoy supporting the local restaurants!!
Darren
small place with pretty good food. been here a few times. will go again. only issue i have is they kinda force you into taking the 2-1 deal. when i go for a pick up lunch i really don't want an extra order to take with me because i don't have a fridge with me in my truck to keep it in.

Jimoco is one of my all time favorite restaurants!
I absolutely love the food here - the garlic bread, linguini, risotto tastes heavenly. When we got here it was about a 20-30 minute wait, since the restaurant was quite small and there was only a few tables. When we finally got a table, we immediately ordered. The linguini soul is A MUST (a bit spicy), as well as the cream risotto (don't think this is the right name of the dish). There was a complimentary side of garlic bread - which we asked for a refill and they happily gave! The service was great. Even though there was only one waitress and the restaurant was quite busy, she happily assisted us. For the price (I ordered from the 2 for $20 menu) and the quality, you are getting your money's worth. I recommend ordering two different dishes and sharing so you can try a bit of everything!
Despite having to wait a long time, I would still come here over and over and over and over again...!
Spoonmaster
Well priced, freshly prepared pasta and Italian fare with a Korean twist. The place is very small and a line up is to be expected, especially during dinner.
Kai
A great pasta place that has a 2 for 1 special. Eat one, and take the other home for your next meal!
The portions are good sized, the taste is also great! Went here with some friends the other day, and it is as good as I remember it to be from several years ago. You might want to go early, as there tends to be a lineup. The place is not very large, and parking might be a bit difficult to find, unless you park on a side street, or at the safeway across the street. The only bad thing was the pasta did take quite a while to come out, but understandably it is because it is extremely busy and everyone ordering the two for one deal. Two for one is not limited to pasta, you can also get steaks two for one as well!
Shemomedjamo.yvr
Come here and order their two for one special, its a great deal! I always come for this deal and have not yet been disappointed, one dish in particular is their risotto.. YUM. It always comes out piping hot and oh-so cheesy, never disappoints. I have tried their other pasta dishes as well and they are also pretty good, this place is worth a try for those who love their carbs. It is pretty small and does get busy during dinner time so best to not come during the rush as you will be waiting for atleast 30 min.
Meshah
Great value for the money. Their 2 for 1 special allows you to get a lot of pasta and other dishes for an affordable price and the portions are bigger than those fancy expensive places. I personally enjoyed the linguine soul and the chicken parmesan the most. The linguine soul is a tomato sauce based pasta that's slightly spicy and it has a great taste. For the chicken parmesan, I highly recommend the cream risotto on the side as it tastes delicious. The other pastas can be a hit or a miss. Nothing too fancy but definitely worth the money.
Pauline H
Good pasta at a good price. Each dish is only about $9 after their 2 for 1 special. The portion size is fair considering the price, the taste is good, and it's very saucy- just the way i like it.

From the outside, looks like a nail salon on a strip mall, on the inside, a temporary restaurant... The posts is the real deal though. The Bombay Penne is amazing and full of curry flavor, the garlic bread is nothing to sneeze at, and the carbonara is creamy and cheesy. Don't regret trying this place at all, especially considering the prices. Service was a huge plus and made it even better
Chunky
$3 breakfast... Need I say more? The staff are friendly and they serve $3 breakfast. The food is decent and the portions are generous. Definitely a tucked away local secret. Ppl it's a $3 breakfast...
Foodisdabest
I think the cooker changed? Different taste than before but was still good but The quantity of the pasta had gotten smaller. Still the service was very good and good price for 2 people to go to
Connor James Beck
Went there for lunch and it was fantastic. The food looked really pricey at first, for medium sized portions, but when the bill came and we found out entrees are 2 for 1... Nice way to cap off the meal. With that in consideration, this place is definitely worth your time and money.

I need to stop recommending this place to people I know because the line ups have gotten crazier from the first time I discovered this place! I cannot stress enough how much I love this place. I think the pasta attracts the Asian populations taste because it`s a fusion of Korean and Italian flavor . I keep on trying other pasta places but Jimoco is still my favorite when I`m craving for carbs. The price is very cheap 2 for 1 deal with huge tasty portions !Ā

My favorite dishes are Linguine Soul (seafood), Seafood risotto, pizza (forgot the italian name) and the chicken parm. I rate the food as a perfect 5 because most of the time I`ve been here I always leave happy with a happy tummy. The service is nice and quick. There`s the odd times though when we wanted the chicken parm and they don`t have it. Grrr! Another con of this place is the long wait because theres not enough tables to seat the hungry crowd`and they don`t take reservations. Another Grrr! So when we`re really hungry we just leave because it could take at least 30 min to an hour wait.Ā

Regardless Jimoco stays in my top list for cheap eats and delicious pasta! :)

Always busy, this place serves up some great pasta at a good price as most of their pasta dishes are 2for1. The pasta style is on the fusion end with fairly decent portion size. Each dish comes with complementary garlic bread. The restaurant is small though, so be prepared to wait.

I went there tonight for the second time. My daughter and I enjoyed it even more this time. Our food was not served at the same time; she was almost finished hers by the time mine arrived but our meals were both very good. It is an extremely laid back atmosphere but the girls working there have all been friendly. We will definitely go back again. Good food for the price!

cheap pasta and at a decent price. Some interesting items on the menu but do not come here expecting great Italian food. Do not get tricked by the 2 for 1 deal. Pasta is cheap to make and what they offer reflects that. Great place for a quick and cheap meal.

TL;DR: 2 for 1 pastas! Portion sizes are huge! Their cioppino gives me warm fuzzy feelings inside.

Nice little place on Austin! The place is a bit small so it always feels packed during dinner times. They have this awesome 2 for 1 pasta combo, if you only get one it's about $19-20+ so might as well take advantage of it!

They have so many pastas available! Risotto is also available and equally as delicious. On the back of their menu they have a little flow chart to help you pick a pasta if you're like me and start panicking when I have too many options.

One item I really recommend is the cioppino. For only $9.99 you get a huge portion of the stew with generous helpings to clams, mussels and other seafood pieces. It's really good and well worth the price! The bruschetta can be skipped, because the ciopinno is what you should get!

Service is friendly and fast!

GUACARONS
Food at a good price! Make sure to come in multiples of 2 so you can get the buy 1 get 1 free deal for the entrees. It's a pretty small place so most of the time you have to wait quite a while for a table, unless you come earlier. The pasta is pretty good and they're decently big! I also like that they give you complimentary garlic bread before your meal.
Kabuena
First off, I'd like to note that the owner and head chef of the establishment has been professionally trained in Italy. Yep, this pasta place is pretty good...

I love the portions and price for this place. My favorite are the bacon mushroom carbonara and seafood pasta. This place always has huge lineups but it's well worth the wait for the awesome pasta and super friendly staff. Or if you don't want to wait you can always do take out, although you will be missing out on the bottomless garlic bread.

Great value. Good menu selection. Small restaurant. Service is good. It is a pretty good pasta restaurant in the Coquitlam area. However the place is always packed. Food is solid, recommend ordering their pastas.

Went here, because it's located very near from my friend's house and she recommended it. so it's an italian/asian fusion of pasta place and so most of the items here raises my curiosity. however there are many families that dine here when i went on a quite wednesday night. and so i have a feeling it's going to be great.

true enough we ordered, a risotto and two pastas, and all of them tasted great. very very well meshed flavors. the portions for the price is also good. so that makes me a happy eater as well.

I would recommend this place, for dinner, or lunch, the pastas and risottos are great. well made. will definitely come back again if time and opportunity allows :D

definitelly a hidden gem!

I recently went here and had a great meal! I made reservations for 6:30 pm, which was a good call because by the time we got there, there was already a wait list. They gave us garlic bread to start which was nice and we both ordered the 2-for-1 pasta so the bill came up to be around $10 per pasta which is really great! I personally enjoyed my meal, however I guess it would be smart to order an appetizer as well because I was still a bit hungry after finishing the pasta. If I am ever in the area I will for sure come again.
Ted1971
I've eaten here several times over the years.

Food is generally ok, prices are cheap because of the 2 for 1 but it's all smoke and mirrors because this place doesn't serve $18 pasta and give you 2 for 1. It serves $9 pasta and forces you to buy 2. Either way, it was good enough to come here once in a while.

However, they've just lost me as a customer.

On my most recent visit, our group of 4 had our meal and 3 of us had leftovers, as we usually do.

They packed them up. They seemed pretty clear who's meal was who's so we didn't check.

I was really wanting leftovers for dinner the next night. So, dinner time comes around, and of course, we got the wrong one.

This in an of itself was annoying but still not a dealbreaker.

The dealbreaker came when I called them to tell them that this had happened. The woman on the phone apologized, said it wouldn't happen again...and that's it. No offer to make us another meal or a credit on the next meal or anything.

I paid for a meal, got half my meal due to your screw up. Screw ups happen but merely apologizing isn't taking responsibility for it, you still have to actually repair the damage that was caused to the customer or it's just BS words.

So thanks for nothing. I will not only never eat here again, I will go out of my way to steer people away from here.

I have only had the pleasure of eating breakfast at Jimoco Cafe and Pasta and I have been very pleased with each visit. I have had their eggs sunny side up with bacon breakfast and I have had a couple of their omelettes. All the breakfast meals I have eaten at Jimoco Cafe have been prepared with obvious care to detail.Ā
One thing that they could do differently at the Jimoco Cafe is that they could warm the plates before they put the breakfasts on them. The breakfast gets cold much faster then it should because the plates are cold. Overall though, two thumbs up for the quality of the food and the friendliness of the service. Recommended.

Good value, good food. Date Visited: March 13, 2015 for takeout (We've had meals at the restaurant several times before)

Food: I like their seafood linguini with cream sauce. My husband likes their traditional carbonara.

Service: All the times we have been there, we found the restaurant to be quite busy regardless of whether it was a weekday or weekend. The last time we had take out and our food was ready in 35 minutes. I recall having to wait a bit when dining at the restaurant as well, but I don't think it was as long. When dining at the restaurant, they kept us happy while waiting for our pastas with endless garlic bread (you get garlic bread with takeout orders as well). The staff are friendly.

Atmosphere: This is a small and busy restaurant.

Thoughts: The times we visited during peak dinner time, we have had to wait quite some time to get a table. Great 2 for 1 pasta deals! Good value for what you pay.

Return?: Yes, we've been there a few times.

I go to this place every chance I get. What can I say, Jimoco's is probably the best italian place there is in the area. Their risotto is delicious. I just took a friend to eat there for his first time today, and he loved it. Despite living in Vancouver, he said that he'd travel from there to coquitlam just to eat at this place again.

My only gripe is that the restaurant is too damn small. I REALLY hope they expand soon.
There have been times where I wanted to eat there but it was too packed. PLEASE expand soon.

Always reliable 2 for 1 pasta!. The opening sale that never ended always hits the spot, I have tried about 9 of their pastas and have enjoyed all of them and really liked 5 dishes. People complain about the some of the service but they get so over run it's understandable + its a great deal if u get the 2 for 1, if you are really picky about service then just get it for take out (its only 20$ for 2 pastas!)
HY
I love this place so I rushed over from North Vancouver before last call which is 9pm and i even called in to say were gunna be there late and the lady said it was fine. When I went in there the cook gave me and my boyfriend the worst look. No welcomes. He straight on looked at us with the dirty look and dropped his fork and went to the back like why are you here? I got very upset by that. The service was terrible. We left as soon as he threw his fork on his plate. Will NEVER go back there agaib.

We went to eat there last Wednesday when it was really hot out and the wait time was 30 min for a table, so we decided to ask for take out instead.

We waited 45 minutes to get our takeout food and had to ask for water because it was so hot at the front. When i mentioned to the server that the takeout took double the time than she indicated it would, she shrugged and said it was busy.

When i got home, i was very disappointed with what the pasta looked like when i opened the boxes up.

Pasta Parma had minuscule amounts of chicken and sun-dried tomatoes and about half a mushroom sliced as well as maybe one black olive sliced and maybe 6 little capers. I expected to see way more ingredients, bit it was mostly pasta and skimpy on the good stuff. The flavour of the cream sauce was great and the penne were cooked nicely al-dente.

I also ordered the Spaghetti alla carbonara and was disappointed as well. The spaghetti were overcooked and mushy and there were just a few chunks of bacon... I could not see the egg or parmesan. Just not what i expected.

The tiny thin slices of garlic bread that cane with it were dry too.

I understand you get what you pay for, but, i would not go for this two for one "deal" again.
Karen S
The food is good and cheap here.

Impossible to make reservation. So don't bother coming here if you want a party size bigger than 4. They are unwilling to take large reservation.
Snikrap Red
Great food, great price. I applaud this little restaurant. It has everything working for it. I know there has been some degraded in service but it is tolerable. I don't usually eat in because it is too busy and usually a line up out the door. Again, this is a gem of a restaurant.
Lunatrisna
A place to go when our pasta-craving kicks in... Many choices of pasta, and for sure the buy-one-get-one pasta option is another great reason to come here!
I love the cioppino (make sure you eat it with the garlic bread- yummm), the calamari fritti, and the anchovy pizza!!! And oh yea, I used to dislike paella, but this place changes that! The seafood paella is my fave, and my husband and the kids would order something new almost every time we come there. So far all the pastas we've tried are very good. And they will happily accommodate changes (eg. my kids prefer fusilli than spaghetti, so we would exchange them; or we ask them to tone down the spiciness, and the servers are always nicely accommodating us). One time the cioppino was a touch too salty, but it only happened once.
Just an advice, avoid this place during meal time in the weekends, they are so packed!
Otherwise, we're always happy customers here!
Dudu
Service was really disappointing. i believe the resturant need more server. at least get someone greeting customers by the time they walk into the resturant. i ordered the seafood risotto with creamy sauce. i like the flavor of the dish and the freshness of the seafood. however the risotto was under cooked and over seasoned.
R_khattra
Bad customer service. I called to place takeout order. I was put on hold for 10mins. I could hear employes taking to each other in the background but nobody bothered to return to the call. I hung up and called back but I was getting the voicemail. There customer is customer service is horrible. It was Very disappointing

A great little place for dinner albeit a little bit cramped. Very authentic, great use of flavour and ingredients, and overall a great value in the 2 for 1 option. I'd definitely come back. The only downsides are the constant opening and closing of doors that made it a bit cold and the smell of cigarettes from those outside. The servers were very friendly but a bit over-worked.. they should really hire more.
Sunny Sandhu
We just called the owner and were told that the group before us had made reservations which is completely untrue because we saw the group leader approach the same server to get her name marked down, and the kids they were with mentioned not having their name down. Then a server came on the phone to tell us about their 1 hour in advance reservation policy, even though the two people ahead of us were walk ins and they were sat at a table. This is their story and they appear to be sticking to it.

-----29 Dec, 2013-----

We were waiting for 25 minutes to be seated, a group of several people were seated before us. The server Rachel knew we came before them, the group did not contest this. Her response was "well were going to have to seat you after." I guess there are higher tips with a group. This server is unprofessional if this is how she handles that situation. I will not come here again and will recommend people avoid this place.
Tim W
Fair price for individual dishes, but they have an amazing 2 for 1 deal all the time. Portions are great and not covered in olive oil like other Italian restaurants. Huge choices of dishes to enjoy.

Small dinner area, so parties larger then 4 may need to wait. Go early since they close early (9pm).
Keropi
We got there abt 7.30pm on a Tuesday evening. There wasn't a line up and we were seated as soon as the table (who had just left) was cleaned up. We ordered the spaghetti carbonara Umbria (bacon, egg, pork jowl in black pepper cream sauce) ($18.95), and a pork stew with risotto($19.95) under the 2for1 menu. We added a side salad for $2.
The carbonara was great- smoky bacon flavour definitely permeated the cream sauce. It's not a mountain of pasta like Anton's, but there was enough to satisfy me. I personally am not a fan of tomato sauces but I did try a bite of the pork stew- definitely tender and tomatoey. The cream sauce risotto was also quite yummy.
I will definitely be returning there again!

Food is great but needs to have separation between restaurant and waiting area. There is nothing worse than having everyone starring at you while u eat.
Drock
Don't know why people complain about the. Waitress staff???? I think they are great and the food is great as well. PS the small asian waitress is a spiy meatball.
Pokoe
The food is so good. Though 2 for 1 is a good deal, it was not that good if you go alone. The waiter told me to have another one for to-go. I did it but I don't think the pasta is good like I eat at the restaurant. I want then to cut the price half off instead of this 2 for 1. Anyway, the food is so gooooood. I really like Vongole and curry pasta here.
Tommy Xu
Busy day.. I've been dinning here for more than two years, always enjoyed the Linguini Soul. Please keep the pasta Al dente even during busy period.

2 for 1 is always a good deal when you bring friends.

Standard service. Nothing was wrong. Waitresses are friendly. Don't complain about underdone services for this kind of price range.

Eggs Benedict a winner. They specialize in pasta dishes which I will try another day with a dining partner. I went there this morning solo for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised to find it is served from 7.30am to 1.00pm. Full large plate tasty and satisfying , eggs Benedict with just the right amount of runniness, texture of the pan fried potatoes golden brown crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, and a refreshing salsa on a bed of lettuce. The only minor criticism the Hollandaise sauce on the eggs tasted floury, but after a few bites of egg that faded into the background. They have an espresso machine so the range of coffee drinks is covered.

Narrow restaurant slightly under-lit. Staff were pleasant, upbeat and energizer bunny like in their work ethic.
Strawberry-love15
Service is terrible. Workers are extremely inefficient and rude.

Linguini soul is sooooo delish!! Ummm...

Yummy!. Enthusiastic staff, and amazing food! Although the place can be a little bigger...
Another Food Lover
Food is good but the place is too small!. I've been to Jimoco twice and I'm always satisfied with the food. I get the pasta with the curry sauce. It's a delicious dish! There were line-ups (more like a group of people standing by the door) both times that I went. Waiting time was about 15-20 minutes? The place is really small and they usually only have about two or three servers so the service is not as efficient as I would like. Food is good because you can get the buy 2 for 1 price deal. Just try not to go during the rush hours or else you're going to have to wait in line.
Melissa Kim
The service was alright, but definitely was that good. I ordered the spinach ravioli with cream sauce and it was absolutely disgusting. The cream sauce was the consistency of water and the ravioli was barely cooked and hard. The server brought the food back to the kitchen to be remade and I heard the cook complaining and saying that it was cooked and was acting really rude ( he was a teenager). The food was so bad and lacked flavor... I definitely could have made it better. I will definitely never return there... The food was the worst thing I have ever eaten.
Messy Pants
Amazing value. Amazing service.
New favorite hot spot. Food is best in Coquitlam hands down

Jimoco. Liked:
-super inexpensive great value (pastas/entrees are all 2 for 1)
-very decent tastewise
-nice interiors
-friendly service
soso:
-pork entree was overcooked
-complimentary garlic toast was kinda spicy bc of all the fresh garlic on it
-food could use more italian herb flavor
disliked:
-plastic water cups and ikea wine glasses
-having to dine with a big lineup of people crammed waiting at the front of the place
-the heavy cigarette smoke smell coming from the open back door on the way to the bathroom
would i come back?:
-yes, it's just so darned cheap. but only if there was no lineup (we got there before the dinner rush), an available parking spot (ppl were coming in and asking if there was anywhere else to park their cars), and if i was close by for some other reason.
Priscilla Py Ho
Good food bad service. The food is good and all... but I haven't been here for over a month because their service is terrible.
The last time I went, we had to stand at the door for fifteen minutes beside an empty table because the waitresses didn't feel the need to clean off the table. Then after half of our table were done our meals, the waitress still didn't bother to bring us our bread. After asking her for the fourth time, she decides to bring us cold bread. Had to ask her a couple times for water too. Don't think I'll revisit anytime soon.
Agnes Choi
Busy. The interior is too small and there's too many patrons. There's usually a line-up so that's the downfall, but otherwise the food is 8/10.
Mary Jane
It woukd be nice if they told us they were out of risotto before they made us wait for 20 minutes and fed us bread... Seriously? Should we have to feel obligated to spend our money when we came for something they ran out of and didnt bother to tell us? Place is going downhill. Seriously... The service got better but the ingredients are hirrendous... The seafiod is starting to get smaller..theyll probably end up usingtose baby shrimps within the next year or two.
Jessica
Kitchen closes?. My family and I used to go to Jimoco almost every week or so. The waitresses used to be quite friendly, especially a few that have been there working there longer than others; however I feel like they changed many waitresses and the new waitresses are less friendly. They close at 9pm however we walked in around 8:35pm and we were told the kitchen was closing soon. We responded by telling them "we know what to order but it sounds like you dont want to serve us" they replied with "it's not that we don't want to serve you, but the kitchen is closing soon." If they dont want to take our order with 25 minutes left before their closing time, they should post a sign on their door saying they stop taking orders at 8:30pm.
Ever since this incident, we hesitate to come. We enjoy the food, but the service not so much.

Restaurants run by a bunch of teens, no system, no service. Wouldn't come back. Horrible experience.

So the last time my fiancƩ and I went here it was good, service was good.. This time not so much.. Why is there only one server on when there is a line out the door?? Second we didn't get a menu for 10 min, third our server tells us they don't have any waffles pancake or French toast.. French toast Is eggs milk and bread.. This should mean you have none or them or it's being lazy. Fourth we wait over half an hour for food, coffee refills were nill and the hollandaise sauce tasted like there was sanitizer in it.. Im not going to go on anymore but I will NOT be back.

Tasty Pasta with a good deal!. We came here on a Friday evening around 6pm. Parking and tables were still available at that time. However by the time we finished, a lineup has formed.

One of the pastas we tried was the penne with chicken and curry cream sauce (forgot the exact name). It was priced at 15.95 (i think). By itself, it is kind of overpriced. We also shared a risotto with beef, peas and mushroom sauce which was around 16.95 (i think). Again, a bit overpriced if it was not for the 2 for 1 deal. By the first look of it, we thought it wouldn't be enough for the two of us. We were wrong though, it was enough and left us feeling very full. Both pastas were quite filling with the creamy sauce.

Penne with chicken and curry sauce - very tasty. Not bland at all. We could smell the curry when they brought it to the table. The consistency of the sauce was perfect. There were plenty of chicken in it as well. We both enjoyed the broccoli in it. Pasta was al dente.

Risotto with beef, peas and mushroom sauce - Again, very tasty. There was a little too much wine in this dish which left a slight bitter taste to it. Other than that, it was good.

Service: Good. Waitress was attentive.

Would return if we are craving for pasta again! Given some of the negative diner reviews on here, we were worried that the food would be bland. However, It was better than we thought it would be.

Great Food & Prices, Busy Weekends. I was pleasantly surprised with their pasta, salads & especially the dessert!

1st, this place is super busy on the weekends, even some weeknights, no reservation on weekends, so make sure you are not in a rush or go on a weekday. Parking is scarce too.

2nd, the servers are pleasant, unless they are overwhelmed, then you have been pre-warned.

3rd, the food is excellent. We had a table of 6, everyone liked their different pasta dishes - from alfredo, asparagus cream sauce to pasta soul (seafood mild spicy), pasta seafood curry (really warming, fragrant & med spicy) to eggplant with bechamel sauce - all winners! And the special 2 for 1 price, welcome surprise!

The salads - caesar & forgot the name of the other, are good.

The most surprising is the homemade gourmet dessert, raspberry chocolate cake - it was mostly chocolate mousse with perfect tangy raspberry sauce & a thin cake base - beautiful, decadent, so delicious! Other places will charge double for it!

The only dish not too great is the risotto - texture a bit plastic like.

Overall, definitely a will-be-back experience. Love it!

******

Been back since to try Chicken Marsala with Fusilli in cream ham, mushrooms and green peas sauce - absolutely delicious!!!

Salmon with sweet bell pepper, hollandaise and pesto sauce, with risotto in tomato sauce, ham, mushrooms and green peas - tasty, good portions for the price under $10.

Sirloin steak with demi-glace sauce and fusili in cream sauce, medium rare - they actually did medium rare just as requested, big piece of steak, tender, everything perfect.

Chicken Paella - to my surprise, it is more like a risotto because it is on the soggy side, cannot taste the saffron, however it is tasty, tomatoey and like a comfort food. I am used to paella that is drier but this moist version is pretty good too.

Penne alla Bombay in curry cream sauce with chicken and tomatoes - very warm curry flavor, not spicy which is a surprise but pleasant one, very little chicken and even less tomato. If you like pasta, this is perfectly fine & fragrant.

Linguine Soul - seafood with spicy tomato sauce, last time I tried this, it was tasty and mild, like a 1 out of 3 pepper heat. This time, the first bite kicked my b*tt, it is more like 2.5 out of 3 peppers! Tasty but wow. I had to dilute it with tomato sauce at home in order to eat the whole thing :) I guess they increased the heat for the large Korean clientele. If I order this again, I will ask for mild :)

Now, this restaurant is busy everyday, weekdays, weekends ... even take out order takes a long time to get if you go during busy dinner time (call head). If you have the time, definitely must try; in a rush, go else where.

The waitresses are ok, if you are pleasant to them, they are civil even when busy. If you are rude, well serves you right if they respond in kind.

Bitchy racist waitress, mediocre food.

I don't get the rave reviews here. My husband and I ate on a Friday night in January 2012.
He ordered the linguini and I ordered the risotto a frutti di mare. What a disaster. The linguini was in a sauce that looked like red food colored water and tasted awful. The risotto was drenched, I mean drenched, in cream, and had no taste at all. At the end of the meal we asked for two espressos and were brought two huge coffees that tasted watery. When we told the server they were not espressos, she argued with us until another server came over to say they were not espressos but Americanos. Our server then said, "what is an espresso?". Working in an "Italian" restaurant one would assume that the people working there would know what an espresso is! The one positive thing was that they did not charge us for the risotto. The service was slow, and there a very stern looking fellow walking around inspecting all the customers at the table with a huge frown on his face, and made the atmosphere very uncomfortable. Needless to say, we will never eat there again.

2 for 1 special pastas are a real good deal and dishes are reasonably tasty too
Victoria
Worst customer experience I have ever received. I would never pay my money to eat here again because of the service! They were rude, demanding (they actually demanded more tip), and obnoxious!!
Tony
Intriguing prices in the pasta. You get what you pay for. Don't let the price fool you. They have no concept of customer service. Do not recommend at all.
Soldeun
Salty food and horrible service. Foods are too salty and staffs are very unkind i will never go there

Any pasta with cream sauce was just heavenly. I reccomend the linguini with cream sauce and the risotto .. If liked spicy food i would have really liked linguinni soul .. Service was great, granted it wasnt busy when we came in.
TC
Food was good, not fantastic. Service was mediocre at best. Garlic bread was half thrown on our table, and our dishes didn't come at the same time. That being said, you can't beat the special; and if the service is bad, tip accordingly or not at all!

So-so. I asked for a mild cioppino and it was still quite hot when I had it - not much seafood in it so I wouldn't recommend it - it was like having tomato soup. The canneloni's were a better value and taste. Don't expect great service because it's a casual place and very busy.

If you like awful service and servers who don't give a damn this place is perfect for you. Waited in line for almost 30 minutes just to get our name in and once we were seated the servers ptetended like we weren't there. The food does not make for the service, which made the whole dining experience miserable. I honestly don't know how this place gets away with such shitty service because the food isn't that great.
Kate
I love the pasta but the service there is horrible. I always leave the restaurant unhappy or angry. One time, they made me to wait for an hour because the waitress for got that I was there and called other people who cam later than me. Not only that, when I made a take-out order they give me a not-so-polite warning because they were packed with customers. I only recommend this place if you have a lot of time on your hand because I usually wait at least 30 minutes.

Sandy Clams. Food tasted good except the clams/mussel had sands. My friend that went with me said this is the usual case. The whole place only had 2 servers. Hence, slow service. I feel neutral about it. But definitely won't order seafood.

Great food at a decent price. A nice 2 for 1. Highly recommend you check it out. Good variety of seafood for seafood dishes.

Decent quality food. Not entirely authentic and usually full of Koreans, and the food reflects their taste also. This is Italian food for the Asian pallate, and thus you find seafood linguini in a spicy tomato broth and curried fettuccini. The pasta carbonara is NOT authentic by any means, nor are most other dishes. Still, not bad, good price point. Horrible horrible slow and immature servers, it's like asking high school kids to bring you something when they're getting ready to go on a date - you're lucky if they even acknowledge your presence. Way too few staff, and maybe they just don't care to impress since tipping is not an Asian habit and they rarely get anything. This is the kind of place I'd come to when I want pasta, I'm too lazy to make it, but I'm not wanting anything authentic.

Good quality pasta. The restaurant is a little narrow and they can't accommodate many people, but the food is delicious! Recommended for pasta lovers

Good food, constantly under staff..... Ever since my friend had introduced me to this place, I had abandoned my ex favourite pasta place, Antons Pasta on Hastings. I heard from my friend that the chef had learned cooking at Italy but I'm not 100% sure. However, I'm sure that the chef had put some thoughts into his/her food. The cream sauce is rich and creamy, and the tomato sauce is very tangy.
I think their famous dish, Linguine soul is rather creative as it is served in a hot pot. I am not a fan of spicy food but every time I go there I see Korean people eating this "Soul". The spicy sauce often reminds me of the Korean dish "duck bok gi" .
O.... forgot to mention about their creamy Risotto that often makes me feel super guilty about eating it but can never resist the taste.
Also, I don't like their calamari at all as it was greasy and soggy. The complimentary garlic bread is not too impressive either.
At last, I highly recommend the owner to hire more waitress as they are becoming so busy now. I often see two girls running around and carrying heavy pasta dish (especially the hot pot dish). I once saw a waitress burned her finger by those hot pot when she was carrying the pasta to our table. I felt so sorry for her.
If you're ever going to try this place, don't forget to make reservation as they are getting more popular in the neighbourhood. One time I made a reservation at 7 for 5 people but later on had to add one more person. I called to change my reservation but the girl told me to go at 7:30 instead. I was a bit upset because I didn't understand why couldn't they just add one more chair to my table so I kept my original one. At last, I showed up with 6 people without even notifying them. We ate at 7:00.

Good, inexpensive food, but the ambience and service could certain be better.

Love it to bits!. Possibly the best pasta I've tasted for the price I'm paying. Recommended to all pasta lovers :)
Lorraine
Excellent, best pasta i've ever, especially the picatta Parma, yummmmy!
Tae Woo Kim
Wow so cheap.. even delicious... I think even one dish can afford for 2 people. So If you order 2 pasta(but you just pay one pasta, this is 2 for 1),even you could share it with other 3 persons.

Delicious food for an excelent price!. The food here is delicious! All the pastas are 2 for 1, and are incredibly cheap!
The chef was trained in Parma Italy and knows how to create very flavourful pastas, my favourite being the Penne Bombay which is a curry cream sauce with chicken.
Breakfast is just as good, and before 9:30 tues-friday its only $3.00!!
Not sure how they make a profit with these prices, but everyone should check it out!

1046A Austin Ave Ā Coquitlam, BC Food Rating: 8/10 I finally got to try this place after hearing so many good things about it! I was pleased to find out about their two-for-one priced pasta deal! The pasta is good and flavourful, the portion size isnā€™t huge, but at the two-for-one price, itā€™s pretty good value. My favourite was the baked pasta. Spaghetti alla Carbonara Umbria (Guanciale- pork jowl) used instead of bacon!

Situated in a busy location on Austin Ave, Jimoco Cafe definitely attracts a lot of visitors - and it's no surprise why...Aside from their delicious dishes, I believe it is their 2 for 1 pasta deal that drives everyone here. Our first impression of this place was that it smelled very good

Finally! I managed to get to Jimoco for pasta! I've heard things about this place for a while, and every time I want to go, either it's closed or I don't have a ride. The location is pretty far and not easily accessible by transit. The thing that surprised me the most about this store though is that it feels really different on the inside. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the store front but it looks extremely small and boring on the outside. The inside looks pretty alright and reminded me of Anton's, but more updated. Apparently the store closes at 9pm (so early!) and we got there at 8:30pm. Waited for around 20 minutes before we got a seat, and there were quite a few people waiting too. We got the 2for1 deal so we only paid for one of these dishes! Linguine Alle Vongole -Ā $18.95 Ā This tasted really interesting. It's not your typical "pasta" and had no cheese. I ordered this because I was afraid that my company couldn't eat anything with cheese in it, and it turned out pr

For around the same price, I rather head to Anton's for better food and a true "bang for your buck".

I have been going to the Jimoco Cafe for quite a few years and I have always been impressed with the quality and presentation of their food. This week my Sweetheart and I had a rare opportunity to have breakfast out together and we headed over to the Jimoco Cafe. Eggs and Bacon at Jimoco Top item on their breakfast menu is a Sunrise Special ā€“ two eggs, hashbrowns, toast and the choice of bacon, ham or chorizo sausage, all for $3 if you arrive before 9:30 am. I went for the special with sunny side up eggs and bacon. The eggs were cooked perfectly with a runny yolk that I could dip my hashbrown cubes into. The extra crsip bacon (without even having to ask for it!! HEAVEN!!) was excellent. Corned Beef Hash and Eggs Sweetheart, not being as fiscally prudent as me chose the corned beef breakfast hash ($9). It came with two eggs and two pieces of toast. Once again, the eggs were cooked perfectly. One of the things I really like about the Jimoco Cafe are the hashbrown potatoes. These are the real thing. They either bake or boil Russet potatoes and then cube them before giving them the golden-fry treatment. The end result is that they are crispy cubes of warm potato lovinā€™ when they arrive at the table. On other occasions I have been to the cafe I have enjoyed selections from their omelette list. Each time I have been impressed with the quality of the food, the ingredients and the presentation. However, I have to say that this week when we were in for brekkie, both Sweetheartā€™s and my breakfast was barely warm when it arrived at our table and was very quickly cold. I could have told the server about the issue but I am hoping this is just a one off mistake from their kitchen staff. Bottomline, I will continue to visit the Jimoco Cafe when I am looking for a

Jimoco is a pasta place on Austin Ave. in Coquitlam, across from this Safeway that seriously needs a renovation. (They donā€™t have any self-checkout or customer service counterā€¦what??) Itā€™s a pretty small restaurant (maybe narrow is a better word), with booth seating as well as tables. The one thing I find odd about Jimoco is that the chef is Korean, much of the clintele is Korean, and yet the owner only hires Caucasian serversā€¦Iā€™m not sure if he did this to avoid the stereotype that Asian servers are rude. To be honest, I find the service here rather brusque and unprofessionalā€¦maybe itā€™s simply because this restaurant is ALWAYS busy. My most recent visit was on a random Thursday afternoon, around 2pm, and we had to wait for a table.

I went to Jimoco Cafe for lunch, after recommendation from a family friend. Jimoco serves Italian dishes, with a korean twist. My friend and I got there at 12:30pm for lunch and there was a line up. I guess we should have known better given its popularity in the area and small interior. There were a large number of Korean customers, and I had one lady strike up a conversation with me in Korean, only to be disappointed with my "Sorry, I'm not Korean" reply. Lol.
