Review The Coquitlam Grill - Coquitlam

Jimmy Ma
I had a dinner at the Coquitlam Grill on last Saturday with my friends. To start, the service were fantastic. We had such a warm greeting. The server was incredibly nice. However the food we ordered were not so great. I do not want to be too critical but foods tasted like foods you could get from groceries. This is an amazing place for someone who enjoys good place to spend time with friends.

Our first time here. Excellent food, big serving, reasonably priced, and the servers are very attentive. Our drinks get refilled without us asking. They go around often. We had the french dip, pulled pork baguette and coconut shrimp. Yummy comfort food! Highly recommended đź‘Ť

Nice, clean and comfortable family restaurant. Fast service and friendly staff. Menu has a huge variety with fair prices for their portions. Came in for breakfast but will come back soon to try other menu items.

Great local haunt. We came here for lunch after a hike nearby. It was the weekend and there was a short wait. There are umbrellas set up outside. But the line moves fairly quickly. Menu is large. We ordered breakfast and a club sandwich. Portions were generous and food was good. Service was friendly and prompt. Enjoyed our experience and would definitely return.

I love this place. I have not had a bad experience as of yet. Food is excellent quality and prices are amazing. Staff are always pleasant and since we are there often, we are remembered which is amazing. Eggs Benedict always a hit, omelettes are great portions and the pancakes are fluffy and light! Burgers are made perfectly and love the spicy chicken cesaer salad!! Highly recommend heading here if you can

I think The Coquitlam Grill is a gem in our city. It is the quintessential western diner; cozy, welcoming, friendly, and most of all, good food. I frequent them for their breakfast/brunch and their dinners. The Rib and Lasagna is a staple among my friends and I, but their Hulk Burger is also great if you're feeling like a burger. Their fries are also a delight so definitely order it as a groupie appetizer or some snacks for beer.

It my sisters and mom's Saturday brunch place, cozy, warm place for going out. The pulled pork baguette is my favorite menu you never regret it if you love sweet and salty. Highly recommend for regular brunch on weekends or weekdays too!

I can’t believe I haven’t been to this place for all the time that I lived here. The place was huge, and the staffs were friendly. They have a wide range of different food but I decided to go with the chorizo eggs Benny. It was a typical comfort food - not super gourmet but that’s not what I expected, either. I would come back here for comfort food from time to time!

We have been in Canada for nearly 2 weeks with kids on holiday. We have already visited this establishment 4 times. Delish. Great service, very friendly, breakfast menu is fab and very reasonable. Highly recommend. X

We went to our favourite breakfast place for dinner tonight and the food and service were horrible! We waited well over 1/2 hour to get our dinner (with 2 hungry kids), the restaurant was not busy, and when we did get it, it was poor quality and our waitress was very rude when we had a question about the ribs platter. We were very disappointed as we regularly go here for breakfast. We definitely won't be back for dinner!

Have gone here a few times with friends , by myself and yesterday with a group of school bus drivers to celebrate the last day of school as well as 3 drivers retiring.( 1 of those 3 being me :) ) The food and service is always good. Thanks to the staff for making our breakfast outing a good one. !!

Great food, Great service and a laid back environment. Went in for appetizers, the poutine, thai wings and prawns were delicious. Ended up staying for dinner, my wife and I shared the Cheese burger which was above our expectations. Will definitely go back.

I'm obsessed with this place. We come here weekly for breakky and their service is prompt and accurate (I often get substitutions on my orders and they are great with accommodating). My fav thing is the eggs benny, so amazing! The cubed hashbrowns are deliciously soft in the middle and crispy on the outside.

Older Restaurant but well looked after.Service was good and food was really good.Priceing was similar to other restaurants. We noticed lots of customers at 2pm going in and out and decided to go there.Well worth the Visit.

The food was okay but I didn't like the attitude of the waitress. some of them were playing basketball with the table clothes and they didn't care customers are watching!

While the food may not be gourmet, it is well prepared, well presented and tasty. Price is very reasonable and the service is great. 5 stars and $ - $$. Excellent value

Horrible. Terrible service, food came out cold, waitress barely talked to us. I haven't tipped $0.00 in a long time.

Terrible service and burnt omelet. The server never came back to ask how my meal was. My omelette was burnt and my dates omelette under cooked. I was never offered a second drink but my empty glass remained on the table my entire stay. I gave the MANAGER one chance to tell me why I shouldn’t write my experience to my 1300 member blog. She told me I’m free to do as I wish. Bad move Miss, bad move. I’m also am one of the Tri City food critics.

Great food! Reasonable prices! Awesome service! Our boys are 2 and 4 years old and they were entertained (aka well behaved) the entire time! We will be back for sure! Thanks for the great Friday family night!

Food at a good price. Greasy which is great if you're looking for it. Service is good, cleanly cozy booths. A nice casual for brunch, especially after a night of drinking.

I had the chef salad. It was ok. You can’t really mess it up. Service was ok, not overly needy or lacking in offering a top up in our drinks

Great neighbourhood diner, a little bit of everything for everyone always come here for for breakfast! Servers are always friendly and attentive

The waitress was horrified to see that she served me raw chicken wings. I guess the wings were frozen and flash fried because they were still cold inside and there was blood on my plate. The server was very apologetic and brought me a new plate of wings. I'm glad I didn't get salmonella but can you blame me for not wanting to go back?

My family and I were pleasantly surprised when we decided to go here for dinner after living in the area for years and idly passing by it under the assumption that it was pretty much another Denny's. Couldn't have been more wrong; the food's surprisingly well-made, and the menu's got great variety. Our server wasn't a shining bubble of joy, but that's not enough to sully the overall experience.

Great food, good value. Not the best ever, but hey it's under $15! Lasagna was a winner, hulk burger would be better with a home made patty but what burger wouldn't! We are coming back for breakfast for sure! Pancakes were really really good, sausages a bit greasy. I will eat here again

I am a huge fan of the Coquitlam Grill. I have heard people complaining about some of the things on the menu, but the food that I have had were all amazing! I have tried the MEDITERRANEAN CHICKEN WRAP, CALAMARI DINNER, JAMBALAYA RICE BOWL, RIBS & LASAGNA COMBO, and the ALFREDO MUSHROOM CHICKEN PENNE. I have never tried any thing from the breakfast menu which is the main focus of this restaurant, but I can tell you that the lunch & dinner menu is great.

Abysmal. My wife and I ordered the Cajun chicken burger and the Canadian burger for takeout and we couldn't be more dissapointed. I will preface this by saying that I arrived to pickup the food right when we had been advised it would be ready for pickup. The buns were stale, fries soggy and tasted as though they were bagged fries which were deep fried and allowed to sit for an extended period on a food warmer before serving. The "Cajun" chicken burger had nothing Cajun about it. It was an ordinary chicken breast. One side of the bun was caked in a bland yellowish sauce with mayo on the other side. Judging only by the quality of ingredients this food would still be very poor even if served fresh. This was our first time eating here and it will be our last. We are not that hard to please and have only written one food review before but felt we had to after our experience here.

Disappointed. Decided to try the Chicken Broccoli Au Gratin and it was way too creamy.

Love it!. My family and I absolutely love this place! The food is inexpensive and very tasty. There is a wide range of comfort foods as well as healthier options that keep us coming back. The service is great and they take the time to connect with you. We have been going here for a few years and although we moved farther away will continue to come here. It is just that good.

Great staff and all day breakfast. We love this place, it is our go to when we do not know where to eat. Truly love their breakfasts, also a seniors menu when you do not want the full deal. Excellent pancakes plus they are available all day, great for us late sleepers. All breakfasts are super. The Jambalaya is a favorite loaded with prawns, chicken plus lots of chorizo sausage. The staff have allways been pleasant and efficient.

Hey the best lil secret and Caesar starter around Better than K Size Caesar and affordable portions n deserts Love the lasagna n toast mm I'm a reg and this place is pretty consistent and quick to get ur starter salad fresh!

Just too salty for me. Service is pleasant and on top of everything but all of the dishes were far too oversalted for me. The breakfast menu's prices are a bit on the high side for what is delivered. Atmosphere reminded me of Red Robin and everyone comes here from college couples to seniors with grandchildren. They have a special seniors menu.

Best lasagna ever ! the sauce is yummy and has a faint taste of cinnamon , service is not so good , but the process are right

Not sure how I feel about this place. Had the souvlaki, I thought the portion was extremely small but then again it was pretty cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. The breakfasts look pretty good though.

The Coquitlam Grill has the standard "Canadian" fare. Very consistent and good. Large menu, everything I have tried is good. Can get really busy Friday and Saturday evenings and Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The service was slow and rude, items were forgotten, the cutlery was dirty, the coffee was poor, and the food was sub-par. The one redeeming quality of this restaurant was the decent price, but even that does not make the experience at all pleasant.

Very Solid Place to Eat. I've been here several times now, over the past year. Thought it was time that I put up a review.

My friends and I really like this place. And we're pretty picky. There is a great variety of menu items to choose from. The service is great, with very friendly and knowledeable waitresses and hostesses. The food is pretty good, and portions are very generous. The prices are very reasonable.

This place has something for everyone. For us, it's in a very convenient location. They have an all day breakfast menu, which is a great idea, as only Denny's seems to be the only other place to offer this (and Denny's sucks). There is nothing but booths (which I like), and large booths. Ample seating, in a large restaurant - again helps with the ambiance ( I don't like small restaurants).

The previous reviewers mentioning that it's more of a Sports Bar need to seriously get out of the house more. Just because there's TV's everywhere, doesn't make it a sports bar. In fact, I haven't seen anyone drinking alcohol at this place, even though they have a full license. The TV's is what makes me choose this place. If there's a game on, or something of that sort, I can a least look forward to watching something rather than simply eating and staring at a wall or other people. Sorry, but TV's add life to a restaurant. The sound isn't on, so don't say it's a sports bar. It's a family restaurant, comparable to Denny's, but only way better.

Quality and excellent Service. I have been to the Coquitlam Grill many times. I always find the food to be excellent, portions huge and prices very reasonable. The staff is amazing and work very hard. I would like to comment about a previous review referring to "scantily clad" staff. It was quite the most ridiculous comment I have ever read. These girls wear long sleeved button down shirts, and either black pants or skirts, and all are very respectable young ladies. I'm from the neighborhood and know many of them. I am appalled that someone would write such a thing. This is very much a family restaurant and I am more than happy to take my 2 yr, 7 yr and 8 yr old grandchildren there any day of the week.

More a Sports Bar. I agree with other reviewers that it was a well-lit, cozy diner with plush booths with decent diner-type food. We went for lunch on a Monday with our two and four year old boys. Pros: They have high chairs and a kids menu at $6.99 with drink and dessert and handed out crayons to the boys. Cons: My two year old said, “mommie, why she not wearing pants” referring to the hostess in a miniskirt. I looked around and saw TSN streaming from all corners of the place along with dedicated screens for each of the four counter seats and other scantily clad and busty waitresses, I realized that this was a place vying for sports bar traffic. This was something we did not notice during our first visit for Sunday brunch months ago. It is located in a strip mall with a Club 16 fitness so I guess that makes sense. Just not a place I’d take my family with young children again.

Great!!!!!! awesome staff. I go to the coquitlam grill quite frequently as it is never a bad time. I like the tzatziki sauce they have and they have good ribs as well. Natalie is my favorite hostess. She's always smiling and exceeds my expectations. I often have Karissa as my waitress and she is very bubbly and caters to my every need. the cute small girl megan is very sweet too. The food for value ratio is amazing. Cheap yet scrumptious. If you are looking for any type of food, the grill has it. I rate it 5 stars every time i'm there. I STRONGLY recommend the coquitlam grill to anyone of any ages!

Great Service - Great Food - every time. Norm and I have never had a bad meal there, in all these years. We go once or twice a week and have a variety of items off the menu for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, or evening dessert. I'm never disappointed and always recommend the Coquitlam Grill to our family, friends, and others when the subject comes up. I give it four and a half stars out of five.
Lyn Ayre

Good find. Decided to come here on a whim. They have good selection of foods including all day breakfast. The food was fresh and large portion. Could barely finish my lasagna, which was amazing. Friend had to pack up her calamari dinner. Unfortunately didn't have room for dessert, which there also seemed to be a large and good priced selection for. Service pleasant and attentive. Good try if in the area!

Better than average. I have eaten here twice and both times the servers were very pleasant, food was fresh and the flavors were pleasing. Lots of variety from breakfast classics to pasta, seafood, burgers. The chicken on our my Chicken Alfredo Rotini was very well seasoned and perfectly tender. Prices and portion sizes are about average. I noticed both times that they were slow to greet customers and seat them at the door.

TERRIBLE OWNER; NEEDS TO BE EDUCATED ON WHAT A FAMILY RESTAURANT MEANS!. Our family has gone to the restaurant half doz times at least, found the food decent and the servers AMAZING; hence the reason we come back. We have a 2yr boy and they all spent time chatting it up with him and he always enjoyed all the attention of course which made our experience delightful as parents. If you're a parent you know what I mean. I recently had another baby boy and we decided we would go for dinner and show him off. He's 5 weeks at the time which is Fri Aug 12. He is a perfect baby; very happy and we have taken him to plenty of other restaurants with no problems. half way through our meal I finish feeding him and he needs to be burped; so off he goes to dads to do the burping and he is a little fussy, he is not screaming his face off turning purple etc ect, just a bit whiny because he needs to burp. The OWNER comes over right away and is standing over us asking if everything is ok and that he is getting complaints from customers that our baby is interrupting their meals, and that he needs to think of them because they are spending big money there as he put it. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. We were given our bill, our food packed up, and our son the 2yr old missed out on his dessert that came with his kid's meal that we ordered from their kids menu.

Coquitlam Grill is our to-go Western restaurant. It's family friendly and has solid food choices for reasonable prices. Although this restaurant has been around for a number of years already, we only started going two years ago. When the building was Knight & Day, apparently my family used to visit very often. I have absolutely no memory of that. Anywho, I don't have photos of everything we've tried but hopefully this will give you an idea of what to expect. Note: Very recently, they updated their menu. There are a few new items (or altered items) and most of the prices have gone up $1 or so. Let's start this long post with breakfast, the most important meal of the day. And my personal favourite~ Breakfast: Fruit Pancakes, Veggie Omelet Coqu

We didn’t think it was exactly all that cheap for breakfast/brunch, but given the portions it definitely was worth it. The ambiance is not too bad, it feels like a diner and nothing more. It is quite clean inside though. The place also have a huge waiting area, I’m guessing it does get busy during weekend brunches. I have heard that dinner is quite worth the try, but I guess that will have to be another day. Service was average, our server was friendly and came by to check with us one time but that was it. And for those who needs WiFi during their meal times, this is the place as it offers free WiFi.

Heading to Coquitlam early in the morning, what better way to have breakfast than to go to Coquitlam Grill. It has been here for a very long time and is a local favourite. They serve up breakfast, lunch and dinner. At 10am, the parking lot was packed and you can see some seniors standing around hanging out with their friends. The interior is the same as a Knight and Day because that was the previous restaurant that occupied the space. There’s tons of seats, so its great for large parties. It’s usually packed on the weekends, but we came here early, so there were seats still in the back. French Toast with sausages, eggs, and hash browns. Comes with a side of butter and syrup. European Breakfast with sausage, perogies, sour cream and eggs. Truckers Breakfast has eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast sausage and hash browns. The truckers breakfast also comes with pancakes. It’s a huge meal. All the breakfast items were pretty solid. Good ol’ breakfast. The portions are huge and definitely worth
