Review John B. Neighbourhood Pub - Coquitlam

Fun! Fun! Night . Every time I go there always turn out to be a fun night . Friday night is live music night .Hard to get table sometimes but I have connections 😉😉. No just kidding 🤣. Sat & Sunday is mostly busy you might have to wait few min for a table . The pub is always very lively. Staff is so polite . Even the security guys are polite . Drinks and food are good price for a busy pub . Parking is huge . I left my car so many times there safe to leave overnight. The CROWD you have to try different day for different crowds .

Great place to meet friends and have awesome pub food. Live music can be awesome. Especially if @stevehalfnights performs. The Austin Heights burger is a must try. Excellent service every time we have been there.

I’ve been here a few times but it has consistently been one of the best pubs I’ve ever been to! Amazing beer selection, delicious food and the servers are so nice and helpful! Denise gave me 3 solid beer recommendations! Plus the Wagyu burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! Highly recommend John B’s if you looking for amazing eats and drinks!

Our go to spot for wings n drinks! Beer on tap and cocktail menu is massive! The food…. Omg sometimes you just have to forget this is a pub because john b’s got some of the best food I have ever eaten! To die for nachos, wings, and supreme fries. Their korean bao is AMAZING! My faveee. Alll so so so good and housing some of the absolute best wings in the tri cities. You catch me here every game night and almost every monday for the wing special! Never change John B! Never change!

Good location, fair prices, friendly staff and deadly Ceasars. Came here for the first time, had the nachos and calamari, seriously best nachos I've ever had, every layer has cheese and toppings instead of everything being dumped on the top, the calamari was perfectly cooked and the breading was the perfect ratio and it didn't taste doughy like some other places. For their breakfast I highly recommend their chorizo hash.

Really great spot! Had the pad Thai and was surprised by how good it was. Everyone’s meals looked great. Only bummer was that there wasn’t many vegetarian options or if there were they were hard to make out on the menu.

Had a fun happy hour: $5 Moscow mules were perfection- spiced just right, as well as their happy hour pink vodka based lemonade 😋 Mmmm so delish. I had a vegetarian powerbowl: roasted brussels and cauli, quinoa, chick peas, pickled beets and a really good dressing- amazing flavour combination. My friends had poutine and wings which were on the happy hour menu. Very nice ambience and great service- nice spacious seating areas and an indoor fire place you can sit around. Very extensive drink and food menu. Cheers 🍻

The service is awesome. Selection of beer is really good and food is yum. Highly recommend and must visit if you are in this side of the town.

John B Pub is a classic in Coquitlam! A friend recommended that we try their wings special. We were not disappointed!!! The wings were huge and delicious. I personally think John B is better than Wings, which is a few minutes away.

We’ve become regulars here! Great weekly food specials and have never had bad food or service. Maybe the interior could use a little update but it’s got a good thing going...

Holy drink menu and menu menu, batman! Best selection of beers in the tricities that I've seen so far. And wow do they have food. Take anyone here who is used to pub fare and they will be impressed with something.

Pretty fun place to come if you live in the area! Great food selection and wide beer/cocktail menu! Lovely staff, definitely recommend this place for a cheap night out. Although wish they would accommodate more seating, as its crowded on the weekends.

everything about this place is tits except for the band set up. needs a better location. food has always been good here. huge selection of liquor and the wait staff are all smoking hot. do they still do sunday brunch? that was the best in town.

Service is always friendly and efficient. The last time I went our server was impressively able to remember everyone's name in our large party. The menu is huge, and it's great for groups that all want something different. My friends love the taco salad and I usually get their waffle fries. The drink selection is equally big, so I do recommend you try some of the craft beer that they carry!

AngryRussian had been dying to take me to John B. Pub, a place he’s been going to for years, and one night we finally had the chance. John B is a casual pub restaurant in Coquitlam with an attached liquor store.  It is super roomy with plenty of tvs to watch the games from.  There’s even a huge round firepit in the middle but I’m not sure when that’s ever on.

This place is great one of the last real pubs that haven't been bought up and rebranded by a pub chain .. To me those places are all shined up dazzle dazzle but fail to deliver the way a place like this does . The food isn't fancy but it's tasty pub grub with a few creative dishes and seasonal monthly features. The size and the bun to meat ratios are great on there sandwiches and they are not over sauced messes to me simple and well done . The service was fast and genuinely friendly and helpful. This brings me to where and why this place stands out 54 beers on tap ! Which I believe makes this the second largest tap selection around behind craft beer market . Not only that it's a great selection props to whoever chooses the beer here so many original ones I wanna try I just don't see anywhere else. This makes this place a destination in the lower mainland for beer connoisseurs such as myself. I hope this place is around in its current form for years to come as their are too few of these great traditional stand alone pubs left in the lower mainland.

The last time I was here was around 8 years ago. 8 years ago when I came in I ordered dry ribs, upon receiving them they were so hard and dry they were unpalatable. I had mentioned to the server that the dry ribs are too dry and hard.  What she told me shocked me, she said "what do you want they are dry ribs, they are suppose to be dry" and walked off. I thought to myself seriously? Dry ribs are dry yes, but not to the point they are so over cooked, dried and hard. Needless to say, I have not returned since.<br/><br/>Jump forward to 2016, it has been 8 years. After work, my buddy wanted to go drinking. I don't drink too much so I suggested we go eat and have a drink at the same time. He told me he lived by Coquitlam and I thought of John B, It has been a long time so I thought I'll give them another try.<br/><br/>I had mentioned to the waitress about what happened last time I was here, then proceeded to order the dry ribs to give it another try. They were tasty this time. The waitress had even come back to ask if they were okay. My buddy ordered a burger as the waitress said it was good. He only ate 1/4 of it. I asked him why he wasn't eating and he said he didn't like it and was just going to leave it. I told him to tell the waitress about it and he said " no it is okay" I decided to call the waitress over and tell her myself. John B took care of it. I was surprised, I thought they were going to say tough luck. Compared to 8 years ago, this is a total 180.

UP - Staff was pretty nice here. It was jammed packed and I was in quite a hurry but they got my food out to me super quick. Thanks!<br/><br/>DOWN - Food wasn't anything spectacular, but tasted fine nonetheless.<br/><br/>OUT - With 54 something beers on tap, this is the kind of place I'd like to come back to. Specials every night and decent location.

This is one of our favorite spots. The patio is great for those spring / summer nights as it is equipped with lots of heaters and tiki torches line the outside of the garden. People watching is great here, especially as the night goes on and more and more people climb out onto the dance floor. The service is genuine and friendly. I don't think I've ever had a poor experience with a server here. Both the drinks menu and the food menu are ambitious. I cannot comment for every dish, but for pub food, especially burgers and wraps, they hit the mark. This place can get pretty packed if there is a game or a fight on, so it's best to go earlier in the night (or later depending on your plans). All and all, I would recommend this place if you are in the mood for a super causal night of drinking and bar food. Do not come here expecting a quiet evening of wining and dining.

Was looking for some greasy pub food after a long, hard night. We found John B and thought to come in and try it. It has the real feel of a neighbourhood pub and you can tell some of the people in there were regulars. They have a crazy liquor wall with lighting and all that jazz. We came in with our teas and coffee and we were asked to pour them into their mugs and hide or throw out the takeaway cups we brought in. I’m not too sure what the reason behind that was but the girl was really nice about it so we didn’t even mind it. I ordered the mac n’ cheese and it was pretty average. It was a bit on the bland side. But my friends burger was really tasty so it just must have been what I ordered.

The only real problem is the menu is huge and everything is so tasty! Hard to decide what to order and that's it's busy all the time and sometimes hard to get a table... but that shows how good the food is. <br/><br/>They have live music as well.

Poor service. Don't know about the drinks or food as we weren't able to order any. <br/><br/>Indifferent staff definitely not the best for any eatery. <br/><br/>Save your $$$ and find a better watering hole.

Don't bother. 2014-Feb-20, 6:30ish pm<br/>My Wife and I ate here earlier this evening. Live acoustic was good, especially since there's no hockey tonight because of Olympics.<br/>I had the lobser mac n cheese, it was all right, definitely real lobster in there. My Wife had the beef dip, looked like luch meat to me but she said it was alright. I'm definitely more of a critic than her, she's satisfied with even the most obviously frozen from the box cheap burger. Anyway, I had 2 draft Stella's and she had some peach drink that was on special.<br/>$73!!!<br/>Service was mediocre, the waitress came and grabbed her money and tip an ran away without saying anything, a thank you for a 15% tip without even really doing anything to earn it would have made the experience measurably better.<br/>Anyway, for what we had here tonight and for the cost, we could easily have eaten at The Keg, like Royalty, with better service and way better food.<br/>If your gonna go here, you might as well go to The Keg price wise.<br/>We will never eat here again.

Thumbs up to Adam the bartender who invented the "Bounty Bar" shot. Coconut Van Gogh vodka and Creme de Cocao. Sooo good!! I give this shot a 10.5 :)

Went there for my friend's birthday dinner tonight . I had ribs, OMG it's dried,chewy and sour, but their fries are good. I also had Bellini, it's way too sweet for me and not much alcohol inside... I need to put half glass of ice water inside.. I also bought some shooters for friends, but its tasteless .<br/>It's over price and noisy there

Good service. "Risotto" wa.... Good service. <br/>"Risotto" was like congee. A big pile of mush. Halibut over cooked. Black bean sauce was powdered stuff. Yuck. <br/>Lettuce wraps were good. Huge portion! <br/>Good drinks and specials. Don't go for anything too fancy. Stick to the pub staples here.

I really like this place and go all the time just wish they would get a better food menu or just have some food specials "steak,ribs, prime rib"

Bad service. A group od 12 of us reserved a table for a birthday. When we arrived there was not table ready for us so we moved 2 hightops together. Immidiately a waitress came over & told us we were not allowed to do this. I asked what we should do & she pointed to 2 seperate tables and said we should use them & walked away.<br/>The menu is also very old fashioned with way too many things on the menu. I ordered baby back ribs which came with fries and really flavourless, steamed veggies, which were terrible.<br/>I wont be back. There are way too many nice options in the area.

Kilkenny draught, heaven. A massive menu that the chefs do fresh and delicious. Great staff who do their very best to make you a regular. After a hard day's work, it really smooths things out.

Average food for above average pub prices. Nice patio in the summer.

Tell Me It Ain't So. OMG what an experience. We overheard a waitress complain about manaagement to other staff and gossip .....so unprofessional. Some middle aged guy was on stage 'singing' and strumming his guitar. ....so pedestrian. John B, at least give us something to look at if you can't provide more.. Our dinner wasn't worth the long wait nor the money.

Pulled pork wrap.. YUMMY. Best pub to watch a game at and the food has never disappointed me... amazing sized menu so it's even more amazing that everytihng you try seems to be good...

Nice Atmosphere. I like John B's atmosphere more so than other pubs. It feels cozy and I enjoy the live music. I haven't been here in the past two years, but from what I can remember the staff was friendly and they knew when to cut off customers. Although I know some customers hate being 'cut off'. Food wise is normal pub food, i haven't had any bad experience (i.e. no raw food, hairs, etc.). The one thing I remember was I left my cell phone here and the staff was nice enough to keep it for me!

The first thing we noticed was the nachos were a little overdone. While the chips were fairly decent, the cheese wasn’t horribly plentiful. This resulted in cheese that was a little hard on the chip and pooling below, not that careful balance of gooeyness that is the hallmark of any top nacho plate.
