Review My Greek Taverna - Coquitlam

MORI N.
We drove from Vancouver to Coquitlam for this place and we'd do it again. I love Greek food and this place didn't let it down. The lamb is tender, succulent and gorgeously prepared. I love lamb and am very picky with it and they got it right. The potatoes were also very delicious as was the rice. We started with the appetizer platter, which was a nice start to the mains. The roast lamb is very generously plated, so if you're not too hungry it's plenty for two people. The food, the environment, the menu, the vibe and the service give you that Greek experience that you're craving wanting to go here, which is what we got. It definitely hit the Greek spot for me.

The portions here are SO BIG. One dish is enough for two people. I loved the greek salad, and everyone loved the bread as well. Service was also incredible!

Food was pretty good and great portion, we usually order one dish for me and my wife to share. The service is one of the best, forgot the waitress name but the service was on the point every single time we visit.

Second time coming here and it's not as good as it was two years ago. While all the other waitress was all smiles, our waitress, Ivanka was not. Roast lamb - good Sautéed tiger praw - okay Calamari - good Ek mek - not good. Mostly jello with whip cream Spanakopita - dry Saganaki - only good while it's hot Keftedess - good No change table

One of few good Greek restaurants left in the lower mainland! Food is excellent! The customer service is so impressive.....FAST AND FRIENDLY!

Just like the other reviews said, the portion size at this place is huge. Luckily it's good, the roast lamb, chicken and beef skewers are all so tender and flavourful. The rice is fluffy and tasty. We ended up taking home half of our meal lol. But I definitely recommend this place. They're very busy, we went right at 4pm when they opens and the tables are filling up quickly.

We ordered roast lamb and moussaka. Roast lamb was so tasty but moussaka could be better. Overall good experience and will come back again.

Couldn't resist reviewing because this establishment deserves it! Visited on a busy Friday at 730pm, with a party of 4. Super full place, but we managed to get a spot. The hostess was prompt in receiving us and had set up a table, quickly tidying up a table that had recently vacated. Menus were given, and we didn't have to wait long to order drinks either. We ordered three calamari dinners and one lamb. Waitress was super nice (I'm so sorry I forgot her name 😢), very polite and efficient despite the crazy busy night they were having. The food arrived all together shortly after, and I was surprised. Presentation was great, Food tasted fresh, and the portions are very good. Calamari was nice and tender. My dad was impressed, and he is a very tough critic, even with customer service. The atmosphere was nice upon entry as well. I would highly recommend this place, and would love to come again. Too bad a ferry ride keeps me reasonably away 🤣.

Food was excellent. Service was fantastic. It's a busy place so expect noise and hustle and bustle as the staff takes care of everyone and the patrons enjoy themselves. Best hummus I have found so far since moving here 2 yrs ago. The calamari was excellent and so is the chicken souvlaki. The feta is top notch too!

This place is by far the BEST place for Greek Food. I worked here years ago and it’s still got that same small ma and pa feel with the best home cooked flavour. Portions are huge just amazing! Service spectacular too!

Best place & best food ever! One of my favorite places to eat with my beloved family & friends! My rate is *****

Food was great, always is. What impressed me was how hard the staff worked. Very busy but food and drinks arrived quickly and tables were always cleared and cleaned immediately to keep the line moving

Awesome place, awesome food! My favourite Greek restaurant P.S. don’t come if you are on diet lol...portions are huge!!!

My food was great although my lemon potatoes are by far better...however my husband's beef was cold and he found a long blond hair in his dinner. Yuck

IT is the only place we GO FOR Greek food. By far the BEST Greek food Restaurant around. Big portions and reasonable priced and fantastic Service.

Been here once before, was worth the return visit. This time we came for an early dinner in a Sunday. The place was rather busy, with reservations queued. They still had a table for us and we were seated very quickly. Atmosphere is nice: cozy warm but a bit on the dark side. The server was very attentive, even with a busy shift ahead of her. Appetizer came quickly: the Kalamari was excellent. Main course followed in good time: the lamb and salmon dishes were generous and very tasty. We enjoyed it with a nice Pinot. The service was excellent! Dishes were cleared quickly and refills were prompt. We were never left waiting for anything. I can see why this place is so popular: there was a lineup to be seated on our way out the door! Definitely worth a visit but come early I weekends to avoid the wait.

This place has been a staple for many years. They’re very consistent with their quality. We always do takeout orders. Their lamb is the best!

My friend lives in Coquitlam and suggested this place for dinner one night. Apparently, it is one of the busiest Greek restaurants in the area. The food was delicious! Big portions with tons of flavour. We had to wait a bit but the food was worth it!

I keep going back for the Roast Lamb with Greek salad and pita bread. You don't even need a knife, its so tender! A ton of food at a fair price. (especially during lunch) Greek food done right!
Jen
Crisp calamari, delicious greek salad and pita, perfect tzatiki. Their lamb is juicy and their dinners will give you leftovers! Always busy, and worth going to at least once!

We came for dinner on a Friday night and the place was packed with 45 mins wait. Purely from the great recommendations (and hungry tummies), we stayed to wait for a table. From the mixed reviews for the service, I came in with no expectations and is happy to say that the staff were very accommodating and welcoming even though it was quite a busy night. Our meal started off with the kalamari (not pictured) and bf ordered the rack of lamb while I had the beef and chicken souvlaki - both came with rice, a roasted potato, greek salad and tzatziki. The kalamari was lightly breaded, crispy and the squid was tender but not rubbery. The half beef, half chicken souvlaki was flavourful and juicy, also the lamb did not taste gamey at all (which is what I dislike whenever I have lamb). The salad wasn’t super fresh and the potato was a little salty but overall, it was still a good meal. For the amount of food you get, the price points aren’t too shabby .. since you’ll most likely be leaving with leftovers like I did.

My co-worker ordered take out tonight. When she ate in, apparently you only get one skewer, but in the take out you get 2 large ones. I found the rice to be extra greasey and no flavour. The vegetables in the Greek salad were not uniformed, there were small and large pieces, same with the cucumbers. You needed a knife to cut them in more bite size pieces. The only thing of flavour was the potatoes with tzatziki sauce. The chicken was dry. The whole dish did not marry at all with flavours and juiciness. The staff were less then friendly. If rolling eyes could make noises, it be loud. Will not return. As you can tell from the pics, the utensils are large fork/spoon

Overall I give this restaurant a 3.5. The food was good but the experience was not great because the restaurant is not kid friendly. No high chairs and only one booster seat. We had calamari and roast lamb with no left overs which is unheard of for a Greek restaurant! Every sauce and piece of pita is charged beyond the less than usual portions.

I HAD THE BEST FOOD EXPERIENCE AT THIS PLACE! Very generous portions and the flavours are out of this world... so clean and fresh! Recommended😍😍😍 yummyyy

Cream yogurt dip sauce with pita bread and chicken and lamb meal is great taste . About $15/ person meal. Location is easy to find and park lot .

Great place for Greek food. There was a decent selection of food at reasonable prices. We had the saganaki cheese and it was really good (not as oily as other places). Also had the chicken souvlaki which was a large portion. The greek salad unfortunately tasted bitter but everything else was great. There has to be a way to have patrons be able to order humous only as an appy because when souvlaki is order you get pita as well. Otherwise there will be too much pita. Aside from that it's a good atmosphere as well. Will return.

This is one of the best Greek restaurants to eat at food wise. Unfortunately the the service is so bad here it has come to the point where I've stopped going here. The worst waitress is a tall blonde girl that is so rude that I complained to the owner and was basically told to bad and get lost. Such a shame to loose business over something that that could have easily been fixed. A simple I'm sorry and or I'll deal with her.

Best place for Greek in Coquitlam.

Busy every day of the week and fast turn over.

Family run business that provides good tasting food, in large quantities at a decent price.

Check em out!
FOOD FOR BUDDHA
After a disappointing experience at Stepho's Souvlaki Greek Taverna, I really wanted to take Buddha Boy to My Greek Taverna in Coquitlam, a place where my colleagues and I visited and enjoyed.

With no table reservation, our first try failed about a week ago on a Thursday night. That evening, after a quick gathering with my colleagues for wings at Woody's on Brunette, Buddha Boy suggested we should go across the street and have Greek food for dinner. We showed up at approximately 6:30pm trying to obtain a table only to find that the restaurant was packed and the wait time was at least an hour. We ended up having dinner elsewhere.

Determined that we must try My Greek Taverna, Buddha Boy left work early on the day of our wedding anniversary and picked me up from home. We got to the restaurant at about 4:30pm and had no problem obtaining a table. When we showed up, there were three other groups of diners. Thirty-minutes later, the restaurant was almost at its maximum capacity. Yes, this place is THAT popular.

We shared two appetizers. The first dish was Escargot. The snails were canned quality, of course. Not only this lacked that garlicky scent, it also lacked that buttery dip beneath the cheese for bread dipping. While the price was reasonable at $8.95CAD, it's not something we'd order again.

Of course, a staple appetizer of Kalamari was a must. This was a large plate for $11.95CAD. The squid pieces were cut into optimal chunks and deep-fried to a delicate crisp. One miss was the lack of seasoning. After Buddha Boy sprinkled table salt all over, it's like a beauty makeover adding that fundamental savory enhancement to a dull and boring dish.

I enjoyed the creamy house-made tzatziki. Buddha Boy, on the other hand, didn't like the Greek yogurt richness.

I love ribs, but I'm never a fan of smoked ribs or ribs smothered in barbecued sauce. So when I saw the menu offering charbroiled ribs marinated with lemon and garlic, I knew that would be my main course. For $22.95CAD, the Greek Style Ribs was a considerable plate with a full rack of ribs.

The rib meat did not have that easily-pull-off-the-bone texture but the meat was tender with a moderate tone of charred taste. The tangy lemon was quiet while the garlicky scent took a stronger presence.

With a common seasoning blend of salt, oregano and olive oil, the accompanied Greek salad had a simple mix of cucumber, tomato, red onion, olive and feta cheese. Nothing to note on a typical roasted potato.

Now, we're no expert in Greek cuisine nor do we have any clue of what's considered a sterling pilaf, but I truly love the pilaf here. The al-dente rice had that appealing chicken broth richness with a mellow and pleasing onion sweetness. I gobbled down all the rice on my plate!

To my surprise, my never-a-fan-of-lamb husband ordered a Roast Lamb Special for dinner. This was a good deal for $16.95CAD as the plate had large portion of meat. The meat was tender but a bit on the bland side.

Knowing that Buddha Dog loves lamb, Buddha Boy only consumed half of the protein just so he could pack some meat home for his furry son. Buddha Boy ended up eating all my lemon and garlic ribs.

On top of our mains, we added two Chicken Skewers for $9.45CAD/each. These souvlakia had generous and chunky meats. The meat was tender but not moist. Each chunk of meat was nicely grilled with aromatic charred fragrance. This was worth the money.

Our dinner dishes came with a Pita Bread each. Served warm and gently greased with olive oil, the bread was airy and soft.

Our bill at My Greek Taverna came to a total of $87.78CAD, tax included. That's $31.87CAD more than what we paid at Stepho's Souvlaki Greek Taverna. Which did we enjoy? My Greek Taverna, of course.

While the service was much, much, much more friendly and welcoming at My Greek Taverna than at Stepho's Souvlaki Greek Taverna, it was still a bit sparse and inattentive. We felt like walking into a factory where everything was expedited, rushed and hurried.

Since Buddha Boy is diabetic, Greek food is not something we eat often. That being said, the big boy has already chosen his next Greek dine-out, Kisamos Taverna at Steveston Village in Richmond.

I love/hate this place! On one hand the food and value is almost second to none in the area, very very good. My hate part is their wishy washy reservation "policy", in that they really don't have one! I guess it depends on how many reservation they get on a given day as to if they will accept anymore? so I tried the night before for a Monday res...Sunday night 2 hours no answer on the phone. Fine...next day Monday...oh really? we aren't taking anymore reservations for tonight? My Greek, as soon as there is an alternative I will drop you like a bad habit for the callous disrespect you show your customers. I think you have forgotten that you built this business one customer at a time and it looks like you will lose it the same way.

Expect to eat one of the best greek roast lambs in the city. Their chicken/beef mix souvlaki is also fantastic. This place and Stefos on Davie always compete for 1st ranking in my books. I feel My Greek is more consistent in terms of food, but I prefer stefos' vibe. Their prices have also increased considerably over the last year or so. The portions are solid and the quality of the food is top notch.

Like most, when I lived in the neighbourhood, this was the go to Greek spot. Now that I'm out of the area I find myself driving back for the food and value. Roast lamb for $16, massive portion. Kalamari appy is entree sized for $9. Be prepared to wait, standing in line in the entry hallway. Too bad they couldn't make the bar seating area the waiting room just to help with the experience. Staff, meh - not the friendliest bunch but fast at getting to you.
The best roast lamb in the Lower mainland by far it's always fall off the bone so tender fresh rice breads salads tatziki ...can't get any better then my Greek's roast lamb dinner

Food is OK but really grossed out with finding hair in my food. Lady came back 2 mins later with the plate of food. I don't think they made a new one, perhaps just removed the hair and gave it back. Nasty would not come back and would not recommend. Service is slow and we got ignored as well.

went here for a couple times, and usually with someone who actually have been to this place and have craved greek for quite a while...
I'm not a big fan of greek food, but i'm a big fan of the considerately generous portions they have given :D
it reminds me more of stephos in downtown where my first initial encounter with greek food was good

So in this ocassion, it'll be my previous landlord actually inviting me for lunch, and he's one of the best chef i've ever met, so i trusted his taste in food very much. I came here during weekdays lunch, it was rather empty and yes I actually like going to good places during it's emptier hours, so much more relaxing!

ordered my usual lamb platter, and the rack of lamb came, and as always i'm astonished at the size of the meat and the plate. chewing the lamb, and eating the rice is really enjoyable, the meat was spiced right, a little bit of pepper and the saltiness is right, tender, very very tender and yes everything went great, nothing to complain about but definitely not something that i'll have a super deep impression about the food. but definitely good no doubt about it.

the calamari was okay in my opinion can be a little bit drier/more fried for me, but definitely the way they make it's also good.
Jeff Narayan
Great food, and large portions. The calamari is normally on point, not too rubbery and not drowning in batter, and the lamb is always delicious and tender. The staff is very helpful and friendly. It does get very busy on weekends, so make a reservation or show up early unless you want to wait 30 mins+.
Hipstercat
Woke up without the raging diarrhea, but now I am afraid to check the Fraser Health Report for this establishment, which I should have done PRIOR to going back to this restaurant. Damn you power outtage!!!
Ordered the lamb souvlaki and spanakopita dinner.

The food has some major issues:
The Greek Salad and Tzatziki had 4 instances of sand or grit in it! It was gross to have to spit out your food and frankly I have not had to do this (except for the odd fresh clam dish or two in the past 10 years). Also the spanakopita was fried in oil that tasted rancid. The greek salad needed a lot more seasoning and olive oil. Even the feta cheese, lacked flavour! The lamb was fairly decent, with good char and flavour. Bit of it were chewy, but overall was . . ahem . . edible.

The ambiance was odd: Restaurant is located on a tiered level where the front is higher than the back. From the back, where the parking lot is located, you need to climb stairs and enter from kitchen/washroom area. The interior is very 70's and dated - you know with paper place mats showing off the best of Greece!

The service was lacklustre:
Our server appeared Indifferent and rushed. Water was refilled once but I would not call the service friendly or attentive. The server offered to take the spanakopita dinner off our bill.

Will not be returning!

A very enjoyable atmosphere for dinner when you want Greek food. The menu has what you are looking for and the restaurant is always filled with a wide variety of patrons. The staff will find a table for you and you party. The food portions are very generous and dessert will be offered as well. This is the kind of restaurant where the meals can easily last for 2 hours, as in Greece. The staff in the front could easily be Greek but a peek into the kitchen showed no European heritage whatsoever. Don't worry, this taverna still aims to please and you might leave with food in hand.
The Hungry Couple
My Greek taverna is consistently good. Every time we visit we leave happy, and quite full because of the massive portion sizes here. In our opinion this restaurant is the best place for Greek food in the tri-cities area, heck we even think it's better than Stephos!!
Annabetween2hs
This is a GREAT greek restaurant. The lamb, beef, and chicken souvlakis were great! The baked lasagne was also incredible! The portions are perfect, although they aren't as big as the meals in other greek restaurants such as Stepho's. It gets very hectic and because of this, the waitresses sometimes forget things. However, overall, the service was friendly and the food was amazing.

If you have kids, do not go there. Those servers will treat you like shit. I had lunch with my buddy at this horrible place today. We brought two kids each, so total 6 of us. I have 5 and 3 years old girl and my friend has 2 and 1. My server brought us two cups of water even after I asked. She doesn' t count kids as human. What a bitch. She never back on us until we finished. It was insulting. I will never go back to this freaking restaurant with full of bitch asses. Food was even sucks. So salty, no flavor.

Good food: enjoyed lasagna and lamb souvlaki. NY steak and kalamari were not as good because they did not seem all that fresh. Servers are not friendly; they just toss the dish on the table and go. And never come back.

Ek Mek. Sooo yummy our must have desert every time we go!

Food is good, but service depends on the waitress (no standard service). If you are lucky and get a good one, then you probably will enjoy your visit. Otherwise it can be horrible.... I am a regular customer, and I don't always get lucky either. One waitress in particular was so rude I don't feel like coming there anymore, but I really like the food... :(
Asphyx24
Too Expensive and Rude. The staff is extremely horrible and rude. After placing the order took them 45 mins to get the food to us. The food was cold and when we told the server she said she had some important work in the kitchen and forgot to serve the food to us. WTH.. I havenever heard that ever. Our food was cooked and was just sitting outside for 15 to 20 mins because no one was free to serve us?? There was n oapology or its on the house. All they had to say was we are busy and stuff like this happen in all the restaurants.

Customer service lacking. Tonight we stopped at My Greek Taverna in Coquitlam a little after 8 pm for dinner, a place we often go for a predictable, reasonably good quality Greek meal at a decent price. No parking in front, as usual, so we parked in the back where most of the restaurant parking is. We climbed the stairs to the back entrance and the door was locked. People were in the restaurant but we thought maybe on a Wednesday night they closed the doors at 8, although we thought it was a bit early to do so. We went elsewhere for dinner, but I called the restaurant to ask if they were closed. The young woman who answered the phone said they were open. I told her we were there a few minutes before and the back door was locked. Oh, she said, sorry, sometimes it locks by itself. Then silence. That's it, I asked? Don't you think if you know that you should FIX IT ?? I don't know what else to tell you she said. No "oh I'm so sorry. Have you gone very far? We have tables available, I'll go make sure the door is open and tell the owner there's a problem." We have been loyal customers for more than ten years and don't appreciate the response we received. I recommend to the owner that he educate his staff about customer service. Oh, and fix the door.

Best Greek Food in Town. I've been here many times. Best tasting roast lamb in town. Never failed each time. Their calamari is also very good! There's reason why this place is always packed.

Horrible service, They don't care, horrible take out service, just give up. We have a young family and haven't been able to enjoy dinners out as much as we used to so order in/take out on special nites. One of my favs is Greek food. Unlucky for us, this is one of the only half decent Greek food places close by (there are two others but their food is not good) so are quite busy.

The food is good, not fantastic, but good, the portions and prices are also good, not fantastic but good.

TAKE OUT SUCKS. They have no desire to cater to or expand their take out business. Your a second class customer and treated as such. Don't bother trying to order from them on Thursday Friday Saturday or Sunday, which are usually the nites you would want to treat yourself with take out. They are a busy location and couldn't be bothered to get the phone. They only have one line so you have to keep calling for at least 20 or more minutes straight. I've given up after 30 min of continuously trying before.

If your one of the lucky ones to get through, they immediately put you on hold or put the phone down and walk away. I was even told last weekend that they weren't accepting take out orders because they were to busy. How ridiculous, must be nice to be so busy that you don't care, turn down business and orders and leave money on the table. This after 20 min of trying to get through.

Tonite I thought I'd try again, it's a Tuesday nite so should be safe no? Was so excited to hear it ring and then Bam! a loud fax machine in my ear. Who would have the fax machine on the only # into the restaurant? I give up.

My only hope is that a Greek restaurant remotely good opens up within the area, given the crappy service at My Greek I'd be more than happy to take my business, and anyone else's I know, over to it.
Aida_n19
Terrible service & food was disgusting. We went to celebrate a birthday as a family of 6 coupl days a go. We called to make a reservation but we're told we have to go in and it's first come, first service. We got there and were told to Waite 30 min but ended up waiting an hour. While waiting we kept checking with the staff as to how much longer we had wait, they were so rude and ignorant and kept giving us attitude as if they wanted us to leave. As we finally got seated, we were told they are out of roast lamb at 8pm with people still waiting to be seated and order food. Roast lamb is our favourite dish and that's why we went there. What a disappointment. Then ordered chicken and beef souvlaki and it was horrible. It was oily and salty and the rice wasn't the same rice either. Our family has decided to not to go there again.
Kickassshick_
BEST GREEK. I went here on a Friday night, and it was very busy for a small Greek restaurant! Although we were initially told there would be a 30 min wait the hostess was very accommodating and managed to find a spot for my hubby and I more quickly than she originally thought and we only waited 5 minutes. Our server was very nice, and service was speedy. The food arrived promptly and was amazing! I had the Saganaki Dinner and it was phenomenal!!! I'm still drooling just thinking about it now! My hubby had the Roast Lamb Dinner which was on special and loved it too! While I wasn't drinking they had some great drink specials like 4.95 ceasars!!! I definitely will be returning soon!!!

Worst greek restaurant ive ever had. We wanted Greek food last night ...this place had a great review and was close by so we stopped in. We ordered kalamari, it was greasy with no flavour and very chewy. We ordered spanikopita, one of the worst I've ever had. The tiger prawns were good but there was no flavour. The fried zucchini was okay but it was very very greasy. The service was absolutly awful and it wasn't even that busy. Honestly the Greek food at the mall is 100% better. We were so disappointed. And I felt grosse after. We asked 3 different waitresses for a bill and it took 20 minutes to get it. I highly suggest a different restaurant.
Drdeisel
Loved this.... We arrived before the lineup... but within half an hour, it was out the door. The servers were hard-pressed to keep up with the turnover. BUT... the food was perfect, the server was friendly and helpful and smiling... I cant say enough about how much we enjoyed both the meal and the atmosphere... bustling but not harried... everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves... and even at the height of the busyness, servers were wonderful about special requests and helpful comments about orders... This is a good place to be...
Milly
Tasty food and big portions. Friendly enough service but was quite put off by being asked 4-5 times if we were done eating yet (while we were still chewing) ... not very relaxing to feel like you're being kicked out in the middle of your meal, especially during a birthday dinner, and having only been there about 40 minutes! If they hadn't clearly been pushing to get us out quickly so they could give our table to someone else, I would recommend this restaurant. Obviously not the place to go for a special occasion...better for a quick casual meal.
Pk23
It was our first time here, I have to say the food is great but service is horrible. We came at lunch around 2pm, there only few tables. The server (Kari) came took our order, left 10 min later came back with our food and never came back to see how we are doing. She then came back took our dishes away and gave us the bill.
The need to upgrade their service by a lot.
Faihai
Tasty. Probably my favourite Greek spot. Gets kinda busy and hectic though. Take out can be problematic as sometimes the phone is busy for a long time, so you can't order.

Always good.

Tasty Experience!. We go to this restaurant once every couple of months or so and we order the same thing each time. We love the seasoning on the Rack of Lamb (salt, rosemary & a crispy/crunchy texture) and it's perfectly cooked medium rare every time. The portions are large, tastes good and the prices are very reasonable for the quality & portions you get. The restaurant tends to get very busy and usually has a 15-20 minute wait. Also it tends to get very noisy in there making it difficult to have a conversation.

The only bad experience we have consistently is having the same tall blonde waitress no matter what days & times we go there. She can be a bit abrupt & unfriendly but we put up with it for the food and the prices. There are other waitresses around but we rarely get served by them. We hold our breath each time we go hoping we don't get the same waitress but so far we always manage to get her.

Highly Recommended for the food but don't expect top notch service if you get the same waitress as us, which you probably will.
Davidkelly2010
Not so good. I took my wife to My Greek Taverna and we were both pretty disappointed. The Calamari was burned and the restaurant refused to make any of the menu platters saying we are busy and "that's not going to happen" because we are too busy. Not impressed with the food or the service.
Chris
Why is this restaurant getting such good reviews??. This was the third and last time we will be going to MGT. While the service to take our order was quick and the food came out quickly, it was near impossible to get the waitress after our dinners came. I don't understand why it was so busy as the food was not very good. The calamari app was too greasy, tasteless and rubbery. The rice with all our dishes was also too oily and tasteless. Is there any good greek restaurants out there??
Cuddlybear
I like this place. Generous portion, food is delicious and our service was good too. I can't wait to go back.

My greek taverna. The worst service. The manager and the waitress are despotic people, they don't know how to treat costumer. If you are think to come to My Greek Taverna Restaurant in Brunette Av. Coquitlam, please dont do it.......:(
Rooboo
Soo good! Try the calamari, Greek ribs and moussaka. It is consistently the best Greek restaurant in the lower mainland

My wife and my son and her best friend went to this restaurant 2 weeks ago, they kicked them out cause they said my 13 month old baby was too loud. Waitress said 50 people complained, but seems unreal due to the fact they were there for only 10 min. Waitress told my wife to let my baby walk around. At this point they just left. At the sametime other families and there kids were loud and enjoying there dinner. My wife then called the restaurant and asked for the manager. The manager confirms it was his idea to kick them out cause of my baby boy. Manager tells my wife shes just a number and that he can fill up the restaurant easily. I shared this to many fb friends and they will never go back there. All they care about is money, they dont care about the people eating there. If you have a baby dont go to this place. Just sad.

Best Greek food around!

The foods are good here. But the service was crappy. I tried to call in and make a take-out order. The number was busy for half an hour, then it worked finally, but the reception who answered the phone put me on hold for good 13 mins before picking up the phone and take my order.

Yummy Food & Great service. I went here twice and both times the food was good. Portions were generous and service was also good. Price was also quite reasonable.

1st time I came was with a big group for lunch, so we had the sense to make reservations so we were seated promptly on our arrival.

Obviously if you have a bigger group and up and came without reservation, you may have to wait a bit as its a busy restaurant, depending on your timing.

2nd time, I came by myself. I came around lunch time and got seated right away. Food was good both times, portions huge. But the 2nd time around, the calamari was a little over cooked, but still quite good.

I also learned from my previous co-diners at to this place and asked them to hold the potatoes. I was then offered more Greek salad instead which I preferred. The server was quick to get my bill when I requested it. I think she sense I was here for my lunch break only, so I was a bit rushed. She mentioned something like rushing to go back from your lunch or something to that effect after handing me my bill. I really appreciated her going that extra mile to get my bill promptly.

On my way out, I noticed people waiting to get seated, but it was around lunch time so I guess that should be a common sight at a good restaurant. I will definitely come again :)

Do you want to have Greek food?. Go there! Nothing special as it's your typical Greek food, but the food is tasty and comes in huge portions that is bound to stuff you :). The price is also really good! The waitresses are friendly and helpful. The place can be quite busy (and noisy) during dinner time! Washrooms are clean. Would go there again.

I have the lamb and it was terrific. good service.

Where I go for Greek. Yes the atmosphere is a little lacking but I'm there for the food. I get the roast lamb and my wife has the Beef soulvaki. Some reveiws have said greasy but not sure if they eat much greek food, lamb roast is hit and miss but these guys usually get it perfect. Service is OK, no fifferent than any other place Igo. Price is way better than most for the consistent quality and quantity I get. Sounds like a few people have got on the wrong side of the server but I've never been upset with the service I've had. Going there for my Daughters birthday tomorrow July 25 with my whole family. Happy birthday H.

My Greek Taverna Service. Large protions and relatively good food, although quite greasy. Some of the worst service ever, reservations are taken, but impossible to book. Phone calls are frequently hung up? Take out order request are limited to 20 minutes prior to pick up.

Great food and service. I've heard nothing but great things about this restaurant and finally made it there yesterday. I had the roast lamb and saganaki appy. It was excellent. I will definitely be returning it to try some other entrees. I will recommend this to everyone.

Horrible Service, Very Disappointing. The food was okay, large portions. We went to celebrate a family birthday, just the four of us. We arrived at 4:30pm without a reservation, but they took us in so we thought all was fine. The whole time we were made to feel like us being there was an inconvenience and they couldn't wait to get us out of there so that they could have the table. The waitress was in an obvious bad mood, curt and rude in her responses, trying to rush us through and annoyed and even rolled her eyes when we wanted to order dessert. She really went out of her way to make us feel unwelcomed. If you are looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion I would not recommend this place as they are not set up for this and do not have the staff to facilitate this. I don't think even making a reservation would have made much of a difference. Also, their food is not worth the bad service.
Me
Way overrated. food was not horrible but at the same time it wasn't anything special. the service was fast and attentive even though the place was crowded but the food needs to be improved. large portions but needs fine tuning. I had the avgolemeno soup. I've made it better at home and I'm not even Greek. the Caesar salad was barely edible. I also had the chicken souvlaki. the chicken was actually tasty but a bit dry. the potatoes were a bit too firm. even the pita bread not as good as others I've had. I really did like the rice. bougatsa for dessert which was a bit disappointing. my friend did not enjoy his dolmades and lamb souvlaki either. the prices were reasonable. this wasn't a total miss for me. overall I'd be willing to go back and try something else.
Ladybug
The portions are huge. We got the platter and shared between four.

Fast service even though it busy. Good food. From the time I called to see if they had a table available to leaving, everyone was friendly and efficient. We will be back.

Great Value. My Greek Taverna serves up some great tasting food in large portions for a good price. I usually get the Beef Souvlaki which comes with 1 skewer with large chunks of meat and the usual side items including Pita, Potatoes, Greek Salad and Tzatziki. The beef was tender and very flavorful. Have also tried the Roast Lamb and Chicken Souvlaki - all pretty good. Service can be hit and miss, in all fairness, it does get a little crazy with dinner rush and they do a huge take-out business. Solid food with the rare mishap - worth it in my opinion!

Best Greek Restaurant around. Huge portions & Great Price. Food is amazing here compared to most other greek restaurants. I know my greek food. There is so much care and attention, and it shows. Why? Because they obviously have the owners cooking the food, rather than hiring some cooks, who could really care less. The prices are great and lower than any other greek restaurant around. Strange, considering the huge portions too! If you think Stepho's downtown is good, which it isn't, pay the extra dollar or two and eat here for food that is way better in every way. Staff here is friendly and pleasant and pleasant on the eyes as well. This is the only place that I eat at, should I be in the mood for greek food.

The one and only Greek restaurant I've ever really liked and which I'll always consider as my most fav! A real gem. Enough said.

Best Greek food I've ever tried! I also find myself comparing all the other Greek places to this one. The potatoes melt in your mouth, there is nothing like it!

Best Greek Take-out in Tri-Cities. This is easily the best greek takeout in the entire tri-cities. I order the beef/chicken souvlaki at least once a week. Very consistent food!

Mother's day disaster. Had a reservation for our group for 4 people. Told the hostess my name and she said to wait in line-up so we went to the end of the line (1st seating was 5:30). She proceeded to seat 3 groups of people ahead of me (who came in after us). So my husband tells me to remind her about our reservation so I go up to her and say that people who came after us are getting seated... to which she stares at me blankly saying she only sitting people with reservation. I told her we already checked in with her and were waiting in line like she told us to. Instead of helping us she just defended herself saying "I am only one person, doing the best I can" and ran away from us! What a poor impression of this run-down family restaurant...
Foodology.ca
Poor quality. The portions here are quite large but the quality of the food was very poor. My friend ordered the NY Steak and Lasagna. He requested it medium rare, but it came out well done. It was very tough and a bit hard to eat. The lasagna came out more like a stew rather than the usual lasagna. Very strange!

I ordered the saganaki dinner and the potatoes and rice aren't that good since it made in large batches since its included in most meals.
Gochisosama
Excellent lamb, huge portions, average calamari, bad service.
Johnnycanuck
Food was great, the service needs some serious work tho. It feels like the waitresses were staring me down when I didn't order an alcoholic beverage, listen I like water aiight step off. They're lucky the food is good. I will be back with my game face on. The main thing here is that the Saganaki is actually made with real cheese unlike some rip off places that sell you a 40 gram slice of fried mozzarella for 8 dollars. Anyway a bit off point, this place is the real deal for sure. Try it out it's my #2 Greek restaurant. Nektars on the north shore baby!!!!!!!

Good alternative to Stephos in coquitlam

Kalamari is excellent. Few places do it as well. Tzatziki is made the way it should be too. Price is reasonable and i keep going back. Best greek in Coquitlam and top 5 in the GVRD- I've been to all of them.
J Chi
Really really good at a good price. Get the kalamari and roast lamb entrees for lunch. Kalamari was best I've had in a while!

Great place to bring the whole family, relatives and friends. I will recommend this place, vibrant, tasty food, quality and quantity goes perfectly in harmony. My favourite: roast lamb, chicken, beef or lamb and squid. Overall service: great and fast. Servers - smile please show your teeth :-)

I've been going here for years! Awesome food at a great price

Fast and good food but not much ambience and service. Fast and good food but not much ambience
don't get me wrong... service was not bad but it was not something that they focus on surely. let's just say it was adequate service.

food was good and plentiful. i could only finish half and packed the other half away and it was a lunch menu.

i would definitely go back. :)

Best Quality Best Price Usually. We have been coming here for several years and until our last visit had always received good service above average quality and best prices . Tonight for the first time the quality of the food was disapointing the calimari was greasy and rubbery not at all what we are use too . We will return but will keep an eye on the food and may need to find a new Greek place

Calamari here I come!. Portions are HUGE! Food quality is excellent and service is great (not to mention the cute waitresses). Value is also top notch. Ambiance - havent been to greece but if its like this place I'd really like to go! All in all highly recommend, this is my favourite Greek place aside from Andreas souvlaki in North Van.

I dont understand why they don't open a Vancouver location because this place is fantastic. Food is great value and so tasty! The only thing I haven't loved here is the lasagna, so I don't recommend that, but everything else is great. Service can be poor as the servers seem to be a part of the same family so dont seem to worry about getting fired so they are bitchy quite often. The kitchen makes up for it.

Bring Ur Appetite - OPA!. This place serves up larger portions of Greek cuisine and the prices are on-par with if not a tad better than comparable restaurants. They are very generous with their portion size and my wife and I normally split a couple appetizers (calamari & saganki) and the roast lamb dinner.

The taste is relatively authentic (have had much worse eg: Kefi) and have had better. My biggest gripe would be that their tzatziki is too-stiff and when you dredge your calamari - it knocks-off the flour coating (they should serve a softer-version for this).

GOOD value and tasty food will ensure you are well-fed when you leave this place!

Large but nothing special. If you are looking for a reasonable price but large portion of greek dish, here is one of the best place. However compare to their fame, nothing special.

Great Greek Food. This is a great local place for Greek Food. The portions are large and tastey while priced cheaper than most Greek restaurant joints! I wouldn't eat anywhere else if I were craving Greek. It's about $12 for a standard Chicken Terriyaki, it's on their 'specials' menu. For some reason the price is different on their actual menu, but I've never been charged that price.

Someone "penned" in "This Place Rocks!" on the Hotel Menu. Yes... Yes it does! Bring your authentic Greek Appeitite - you will need it.

The food was great; what you would expect from your standard Greek joint.

This little Greek restaurant at the edge of Coquitlam came highly recommended by an old friend. He swore by the place and its food. And clearly he told everyone else about it as well. "My Greek Taverna" was busy with a line to the door, when we walked in at 5:30pm on a Saturday. We stood one after another in a tight narrow line; it hardly allowed anyone to pass by without brushing against them. There was no seats and no space set aside for all those who had to wait. We stood patiently only to realize we had to leave our names with the hostess. I got to the podium and inquired with a staff member about being put on to the wait list; only to have my request by passed and pushed to another. Luckily we were a couple of two and were seated right away. This allowed us to by pass the three groups before us. You walk into deep chatter and the clanging of utensils from over 25 seated tables, and a handful awaiting reservations. I have never seen a Greek restaurant other then "Stepho's" this bu

My family are returning customers to My Greek Taverna. There aren't that many good dining options in the Tri-Cities, so having one good Greek restaurant makes quite the difference. I would recommend coming to My Greek Taverna for lunch if at all possible since the food is the same and there is usually no wait. During dinner times, reservations are highly recommended, or waits may be up at an hour long. The food is tasty and there is always enough to go around. My Greek Taverna offers food that gives my taste buds a break from the Asian or typical American, yay!

I’m not sure if I would return here. The food was more than acceptable for the price we paid, but I feel that I would rather pay a little more and receive friendlier service as well as properly washed eating utensils. That being said, most of the clientele is probably attracted by the low prices–hopefully they’ll improve on the service and hygiene factors!

My Greek is absolutely one of THE BEST Greek food you will find in Vancouver.
Gastrofork Dee De Los Santos
The ribs were tender and juicy and had a good amount of barbecue sauce on them. The lasagna was very meaty and had a lot of cheese on the top which my husband seemed to enjoy considering his plate was clean by the end of the meal!

We ordered the Kalamaria and the Moussaka - two of my favs. two words: total feast. It seems their Souvlaki is fairly popular
FueledByFoodBlog
My Greek, is probably one of my favorite Greek restaurants in town. The food portions are quite heavy, and I usually end up sharing my meal, with anyone that wants to share... Heres what I had for dinner... Starter: Homous and Pita Kalamari 8 oz New York Steak - Charboiled to perfection, medium rare. Overall this is a great place to have a delicious, reasonably priced meal. The best thing about this place is that it can hold large groups of people, like my family! (we're usually a group of 8-10 people). My cousin (lets call her "S") loves the potatoes, that is what she comes here for. "S" always eats the rack of lamb, and she cleans up her side of potatoes.

Overall, My Greek Taverna is a great value, it’s consistently busy and the food is always plentiful and tasty. I’ll be back for sure.

Friday night just before picking up a few things from Ikea, I had dinner at the very busy My Greek Taverna in Coquitlam. Friday nights are probably one of their busiest nights, but we were able to get seated within 10minutes without a reservation. Service here is really efficient, within 10 minutes of placing our order, the Kalamari was here. The calamaris weren’t the baby ones in most restaurants, these were big calamaris. The breading was nice, but was a bit too greasy.
