Love this place.
Staff are great and can help you choose if your not 100 with your decisions.
The strudel is the best I’ve had in a long time. Definitely a repeat client here!
I love this Bakery so much! Everything is made in house and everything is delicious. The beef dip, clubhouse wrap and long john doughnuts are to die for!
Warning: Incredibly Addictive Goodies!. Handmade Sausage Rolls to Die for!!! (6 for $5.50) Seasoned and cooked to perfection with a crispy flaky roll. Their Cinnamon twists are made of the softest chewy dough and melt in your mouth. ($ .65 each) And finally, my ultimate weakness... Their donuts. (*enter drool...) Specifically the ones with vanilla frosting and sprinkles. ($1.10 each) I didn't know donuts could and should tastes like this! The dough was luxurious and soft and delightful to sink my teeth into. Best Little Bakery. We've been going here for some time, it's our favorite little bakery. This place is run the old fashioned way with a real baker who gets up at 3 am and makes everything from scratch, and they are now using almost all organic! Last year I had to spend half a month in hospital, and upon release, I was craving one of their turkey sandwiches. I swear...I inhaled it first, then ate it. If you love simple, honest, made with love home style food. This place is great. Oh and check out the artwork while you're there... all by local artists Kay & Glen Lovett.
Just like "Foodguy" below, I too have been coming here for a looong time, back when it was Scandia bakery. The apple strudels are the best I have ever tasted hands down. Opening those brown paper packages as a child is one of my fondest memories! The saugsage rolls are also amazing, as are the chocolate eclairs filled with fresh whipped cream. I have never tried something here that I didn't like. The staff is always very helpful and extremely nice.
Bread is amazing and they have these little sticky cinnamon buns that are hard to stay away from!
Delicious chewy rye bread.. Nice clean looking bakery. Very busy place. Friendly and efficient. Absolutely delicious rye bread. Will definately go there again.
Great little bakery!. I've been going to this bakery for the better part of 25 years, back when they were called Scandia Bakery. The owners have changed, but thankfully some of the classic recipes haven't! Try the strudel! I think it's the best in town. Their bread has gotten really good too (used to be so-so, like, 10 years ago). And don't even get me started on the amazing sausage rolls!
I’ve driven by a lot and popped in a few months back for sweet treats, cookies and cinnamon rolls. All of those were great! Second visit was around 9:15am, the place was empty. The staff is super friendly but they seemed disorganized or maybe distracted. We were eating in and I had a breakfast wrap. It wasn’t heated all through and was just okay. This place has a nice bakery atmosphere but talking to a few locals it can really be hit and miss. I won’t give up though because the staff are really nice and I haven’t eaten all they offer so there is more to be had.
A gem of a bakery! This is a smallish bakery in a great location. They have a huge selection of cookies and pastries to choose from. Their bacon breakfast sandwich tasted so good and the sausage roll was excellent. The service was vey fast and friendly. We'll definitely come back.
This bakery has very kind staff, even when it's super busy! I've gone when it's busy as well as when there was a break. This bakery is small and can be tight. I do warn you. However, the hearts of the people working are big and warm. This is one of the best places to go for a coffee break! The donuts are massive. They have sausage rolls made with Lard, not butter for anyone lactose free. My husband loves them! Along with many handmade hot and cold drinks, they offer 2 flavours of Kombucha that switches out! Love those. They have goodies of both the sweet and Savory kind, so there is something for everyone!
So much to choose from. Even though I've driven by this place so many times, I've never gone in until today. GEEZE so many incredible and delicate pastries. Took a snapshot of the one that was my favourite. Can't remember the name but they are gently sweet, airy and light. Tastes just divine! The Ciabatta buns were so soft, and the bread ladder was so delicious as well. Customer service was outstanding. I will definitely come back.
Bread is great. Donuts not so great. Lots of baking options and tasty. Tons of carbs inside. A neat place to checkout.
Lots of yummy looking treats. Staff was friendly and kind. Lots of people either eating in or takiing out. Cinnamon bun with cream cheese icing was decadent. Would have been even better if there would have been raisins in it. Highly recommend.
Oh my goodness. What a great bakery. Had an apple fritter, glazed donut, a couple of salads and a sandwhich. All delicious. Eager to get back to try some of the cookies which look like perfect bite-sized morsels for dipping into coffee. As well, if you are on the spit by Colwood, it's an easy drive up Lagoon road to grab a bite and then go back to snack on the beach.
Best Apple fritters on the island. Great strudels as well, lovely bakery with lots of selection. Great place to stop in for a savory treat or a sweet and a coffee
Enjoying a mild December on the patio. Delicious breakfast sandwich (one of the best imho), rich americano. This place is a gem.
Been going here for over 20 years and I have never not once had a bad experience. The food & baked goods have always been some of the best on the island.
Everything looks so yummy it's hard to chose! Prices can seem a tad high for some sweet baked goods but when you know they used good ingredients and things are so fresh it's worth the little extra! Definately recommend the cinnamon buns and any of the dessert bars. Only downside I would say is no gluten-free options.
Fantastic bakery with so many nice things. Usually pretty busy because it's so popular. They serve coffee, breakfast sandwiches, regular sandwiches, ice cream, and cakes and other pastries too.
Wonderful selection of breads, buns and sweets. Only 2 gluten free items. Nice little eating area inside, cute outdoor patio. Friendly staff, and a very busy around 3 pm.
Best breakfast bun I’ve had in my life! I had a bacon egg and cheese with mayo and jalapeño cheese :)
Always amazing! The baked goods are quality. Can't ever leave without a bear claw. Softest dinner buns you will ever have. Also, the staff are always kind, efficient, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend Royal Bay Bakery
This place is awesome. One of the best bakeries around. Always busy and staff always fast and friendly. Their fritters are out of this world yum.
Love the blueberry fritters. Bear paws are good too!
No trip out to the westshore is complete without sandwiches and naked goodies from Royal Bay Bakery!
Bottom line is they have very good baked goods from desserts and sweets to lunch items. My partner and I have been heading out that way for several weeks on Saturdays and it has become part of our routine. One week, however, we switched to Sunday only to discover they close on Sundays. Be aware if you go. Here's a couple of other observations. We have never had a problem parking. They do limit the number of people inside at one time but sometimes it feels crowded. The customer space is small. The coffee is good. They have quite a few people on staff so you are attended to quickly and the staff is friendly. They have a small seating area inside and a nice patio outside. The exit door is heavy and hard to open for seniors and small people. We'll miss them this weekend but we stop there each Saturday. They have a good selection of Vegetarian/Vegan items. I highly recommend the vegetable or mushroom strudel.
