This has been my go-to Chinese food place in the HRM since it opened. I've never had a bad meal here. Absolutely delicious and very generous portion sizes! My go-to is combo one and I also love their xo crispy beef! And I'm not usually to big on egg rolls but I'm OBSESSED with the ones at Tan's!

Normally their food is pretty good and I enjoy ordering from them but tonight I ordered and paid for my meal at 3pm and was told it wouldn't be ready until 6:45 which I was okay with. Then I got there at 6:45 and there was a 20-30 person line up outside in the rain. I waited for 45 minutes outside in the cold and rain and ended up having to ask for a refund because I was still behind over 20 people. When you get an too many orders you need to cut off taking orders at some point not just keep taking orders and making people stand outside for a over an hour.

Our go-to Chinese food restaurant in Dartmouth! Always a New Years Eve special meal for our family - 5 years in a row! Great staff and absolutely awesome food. I would highly recommend Tans Restaurant! One more point - always order extra egg rolls for the next day - there will be leftovers! Thank you again Tans 😘

I ordered chicken fried rice and shrimp fried rice. It was hard to find shrimp or chicken though the amount of rice was sufficient. Food wasn't delicious, burned.

Ordered twice in the last two months. Always ate there and was always the greatest but not the last two times. The food didn’t have as much taste as it used to, the chicken balls were a bit harder then use too. They must have changed their spring rolls cause now when you ask for spring rolls (which I use to love theirs) instead of egg rolls, they give you two because they are smaller and now they aren’t as good. Then find them didn’t taste as good. Must be a different recipe. I believe they changed everything around. It will be a while before I come back if I come back. Yes the portions are big and price is fair but the flavour isn’t there anymore

Tried them for the first time a few days ago, the wife and I ordered 2 different combos. Beef and broccoli tasted funky and the egg rolls just weren't good. I would not recommend.

I've been eating here since 2010, the food was always delicious, great portions for the price and pretty much all you could ask for when it comes to Chinese food.

I have heard of some "horror stories" like being double billed or receiving food cold, I've never experienced these but from what I've heard whenever they were confronted about it they were more then happy to accommodate, even issuing a full refund and making food fresh for a friend of mine who found it cold when he got home.

Though there are better Chinese food places, if your in the area and don't want to travel far, it's a great little spot and one I'd recommend

In past years have had good experiences here - my family ordered from Tan's all the time.

The last few times the food hasn't been worth returning for, and today's experience was enough to say I'll never be back.

Called in for a pick up order and was told food would be ready in 30 mins.

Showed up 30 mins later - was told it wasn't ready yet. No big deal - I don't mind waiting to get it fresh.

Waited in restaurant for 15 minutes... Food was sitting at the cash the whole time.

Questioned two girls at the cash when they said my order was ready (because no one had brought out food from the kitchen) and all they did was shrug and ask for payment.

Rather than make it again - they sent me away as is.

Got home - it was stone cold from sitting for so long. It had been obviously been made well before I had even arrived.

Never again. The type of place that knowingly sends a customer out the door with cold food is not the type of place I trust.

Ordered from Tan's as my usual spot (Fan's) was closed.. based on the reviews I was expecting better... this is generic Chinese food, minimal flavour, not the best, not likely to return. If you like house made sauces and fresh flavors this is unlikely to satisfy your craving.

Mrs. Extremely dissappointed with meals recently purchased, never have i seen spare ribs like that, they were inedible, the chop suey was like nothing like i have ever seen it was white and tasteless, an overall disasterous meal, as a visitor from scotland i do realise things may be different here, what i dont understand is why its all chinese food, yet in scotland we would never be served food like this, it would be considered unacceptable so glad i have been priveleged to enjoy food from glasgow the curry capital of the world,

Loved it!. Some of the Chinese food in the area is a bit sketchy, Tan's is definitely the best. Portions are huge. The cherry sauce on the sweet and sour chicken is a bit different, the eggrolls are the best. Definitely the best around!

Food. I also agree that its slow, but maybe thats why its so good??
Dave
Pretty good, huge quantities, but slow, a half hour wait for a take out special?
