Review Coconut Thai Restaurant Inc - Chilliwack

I ordered seafood combo which had very large size mussels, tender shrimps and pieces of fish which were cooked just right, as a result none of them were chewy. My wife had pineapple red Curry with shrimp that was same as mine, we'll balance cooked. But the only thing prevent me to give 5 stars is that both dishes were too sweet. We love Thai foods and is one of our first choices wherever we go even if we are driving through highway and stop to grab something on the go. We have tried Thai food in Thailand, Hongkong, Malaysia as well as so many other ones in North America but never had that much sweetness (be it from sugar or any other ingredients) in our food. That aside, place is clean, the boys serving us were very attentive, food was hot to the end, Jasmine tea was very good.

Great food at a great price. The Pad Thai was very tasty and the Yellow Curry was great as well. The staff was friendly and paid attention to little details like making sure we had enough water. We'll be back for sure when Thai cravings hit!

We bought take out from them. One Thai noodle with shrimps and green curry with chicken. Both dishes tasted excellent. Really authentic Thai food. The only negative was the small portion of the rice in the curry dish. It was like only half a bowl of rice and it was not enough to even finish half the curry sauce. What a waste of the sauce. I wish they could give me double the amount of rice.

Three of us went last night. My daughter is gluten free. We found all dishes ordered could be made GF, except the deep fried wontons. We were asked if this was fine. Daughter's partner and me are not GF, this was for us. Wish I had a pictire, lovely display of wontons. Their sevice was wonderdul and friendly. The food delicious. A great find, close to home. The seating is four large booths with tall backs and tables. Perfect for Covid standards without needing plexiglass. Ingenuity.

The fried fish cakes are deliciously fragrant. The stir fry beef with onions, green beans, red peppers and basil leaves are equally delicious. The best Thai food ever.

Wasn't sure what to expect in a smaller town but pleasantly surprised!!! Some of the best Thai food I've had including expensive restaurants in downtown London UK and Australia. Highly recommend the food but one brother is a "bit" of a #*@!, looks like he doesn't want to be there so his service is pretty bad. However if you get the right one he's attentive and personable. Food is great! Customer service... well you've got s 50/50 shot haha Also had to eat in the vehicle once after calling in my meal. Did that so it wasn't too close to closing. I just wanted to sit there and eat a bit out of the 2 go container after a long day but was told they were closing... then 4 people came in, sat down and ordered. They were still there as I drove away after eating :| Not impressed. Next time. No eat in, no tip. Still I plan on going back.

My husband came here to eat one day for lunch on his drive out to Osoyoos. He told me that this place was so good that he'd drive out here again just to eat there. Talk about hyped up. A cute mom and pop restaurant that serves authentic Thai food. Ordered the Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao. Very authentic, perfectly cooked and the flavours were DELICIOUS!! Totally worth the drive out because, y'know no one is traveling right now.

This is a small Thai restaurant in Chilliwack, located near a large strip of stores and restaurants off of the highway. I stopped by there for lunch with a bunch of colleagues during a recent lab retreat in the mountains. We ordered some appies (Satay, Popcon Shrimp, Crispy Wontons) to share, as well as individual dishes. I had their Lunch Pad Thai and Thai Iced Coffee. The food was okay, but not particularly memorable. I found the portions for their appetizers to be a bit small for sharing, but their lunch specials are pretty good deals. The service was fairly attentive, but not overly warm or friendly. All in all, this wasn't a bad place, but not one that I'd necessarily recommend either.<br/><br/>Satay (Chicken, $7.99):<br/>3/5<br/>One portion comes with 4 skewers, and was served with peanut sauce. We had the chicken version, which was made with white meat, and was a tad bit dry. However, I quite enjoyed the sauce, which had a great fragrance of coconut.<br/><br/>Popcorn Shrimp ($7.99):<br/>3/5<br/>This consisted of a small plate of fried shrimp that's served with sweet chilli sauce. The shrimp had a nice crispy texture, and was quite flavourful, but were also very small. The portion was also quite small, probably more suitable for a single person than for sharing.<br/><br/>Crispy Wonton ($7.99):<br/>3.5/5<br/>The wontons were really nice and crispy, and was quite tasty when covered in the sweet and tangy plumb sauce. This was a simple dish that was surprisingly tasty.<br/><br/>Lunch Pad Thai (Chicken, $9.45):<br/>3.5/5<br/>I had the lunch version of their pad thai, which came in a smaller portion and came with a side of soup, salad, and spring roll. I quite enjoyed the pad thai: the noodles had a nice bouncy texture, a great fragrance of peanuts, and a nice tang. You get to chose how spicy you want your food; I requested spicy, and the heat level was perfect for me. I was quite disappointed by the lack of meat in the dish however: I had requested for chicken, but only received probably two pieces. The sides were okay: the soup was brothy and savoury with some vermicelli noodles while the spring roll was crispy but did not really had any filling inside.<br/><br/>Thai Iced Coffee ($2.50):<br/>3/5<br/>This was quite sweet; I actually could not detect any coffee flavour, just sweetness. I thought that the coffee was supposed to be like this, but according to one of my dining companions, who had been to more Thai restaurants than me, their iced tea was also overly sweet.<br/><br/>Summary:<br/>Food: 3/5<br/>Price: 3.5/5<br/>Service: 3/5<br/>Overall: 3/5<br/>Recommendations: Pad Thai

We are three family travel together in Chilliwack. First time here. The food is very delicious and our family love the Tom Yum soup so much that we decided to order another one at the end, service is excellent and very low price for dinner. We definitely want to have another visit if we happen to be in town again.

Great meal tonight! We will definitely be going back or ordering in. The decor is lacking but the service was good, we never ran out of water and we needed it. Medium heat is pretty hot!

I ordered take out and found the food lacking flavour in all their dishes. Ordered the drunken noodles and when I opened the container it looked like a hot mess of garbage. The noodles were mushy & this is because of the lack of heat from their wok. The vegetables looked old and leftover, it was so unappetizing. The next dish was the green curry with chicken which didn't even taste like there was any coconut milk in it. The chicken was dry and tough to eat. We spent $60 and was really dissatisfied with the quality and taste of their food.

Authentic Thai and tasty food. Unlike all spicy food, which tastes almost the same, distinct flavour between green and yellow curry that we have ordered. Will definitely come back again.

Humble and delicious, this is an excellent stopover on the way to Vancouver. Also, at 9.95 for the special combinations, it is bargain that doesn't sacrifice quality and taste. A pleasure!

Run by a Thai family - a very authentic Thai taste.<br/><br/>We were driving through Chilliwack and stopped in. The restaurant is run by a Thai family and the food was surprisingly great. Both dishes we ordered were seasoned and spiced very well. If you like fresh Thai basil, you'll enjoy this place. The ambiance wasn't amazing, but the food made up for it. A nice find.

We will be back!. Food was delicious. Portions were very generous. Happy to find this hidden gem and will definetly be back.

Wow... This is one amazing thai restaurant.. Ive been to thailand a couple times and you can tell this is the real thai deal

Great food, nice atmosphere, family owned. We have thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant and tonight's visit is no exception. The food was excellent. We prefer brown rice, and it was easily substituted - something other restaurants struggle with. All the dishes had wonderful flavor with fresh ingredients - both meat and vegetables. We will be going back regularly.

Really really go food. I've been to Thailand a number of times and this is pretty darn good. You are not paying for environment or service - they try - but the food is incredible:) Definitely come back.

Wonderful Food and Lovely People. Just moved to Chilliwack and trying new places. I love Thai and we ordered takeout from Coconut tonight. Soooo good. We had spring rolls, the coconut battered sweet potatoes, red curry chicken, the pineapple curry and coconut rice. The food was incredibly good and the couple, I assume the owners, were absolutely lovely. Will definitely be returning.

Horrible. This is not authentic Thai food. Don't even think Thai people own it.

Flavourful food and friendly atmosphere. Visited this restaurant for the first time today and loved it! The waitress was super friendly and polite, and the food was delicious. I ordered a combo meal of red curry with spring rolls and wontons. The curry was beautiful, full of flavour and just the right amount of spice.<br/>The restaurant wasn't busy, and it's a shame because the food is so good. It's hidden from the main road so I wonder how many people even know that it's there? I've lived in Chilliwack for 3 years and only just discovered it!

Try Again?. I've been curious about this place for awhile and went for lunch with a friend. Very nice staff. Family owned business with a little baby nursery by the front door. That didn't bother me at all. <br/>My water glass was chipped. The kind of sharp chip that would have drawn blood if I hadn't seen it first. Ordered tea and the my cup was really tea stained. Corelle. Made me wonder if the dishwasher was working okay as a commercial grade dishwasher should remove tea stains.<br/>I just ordered a Thai salad for lunch. Yum Nua. Lots of onions and soggy ice berg lettuce. Scanty on cilantro which was not that fresh. Didn't eat a lot of it. Would suggest romaine lettuce might hold up better in this dish with the warm meat.<br/>I love Thai food, have been to Thailand and eaten the real thing. This dish wasn't great. But I didn't eat any hot entrees, so I could be tempted to try takeout sometime to see how the hot dishes are. I hope this family can make a go of it. :)

EvilDave. Not much from the outside and fairly simple on the inside BUT the service is polite and gracious and the food is excellent. Had the Combination Dinner for 4 even though we were only 3! Usually shy away from combo dinner, glad we didn't this time. There was an obvious kitchen cooking smell in the restaurant space but don't let that keep you away. Some of the best food I have eaten.

We enjoyed eating here. This restaurant is not a fine dining experience, but the atmosphere, the hosts and the food was quite enjoyable. We would eat here again, and would recommend them as a restaurant that produces a good Thai curry.

My Wife and I and two wonderful friends enjoyed a very good dining experience and warm friendly service from the owners. The food was great and surprisingly plentiful for a Thai restaurant and perhaps the best dish was the Seafood Curry with Prawns and Scallops. Mmm!

Wanted to like it. After careful consideration and several visits, my review for Coconut Thai Restaurant is "BOO"<br/><br/>I have visited this establishment 6 times, usually for the TomYum soup. Usually there is no-one there, and the soup takes 15 mins. It is not particularly good, and stingy on the mushrooms etc. I just love TomYum soup, and this place is on my way home. <br/><br/>Last night i took my wife for dinner there , and there were four other tables ( one of which had food). The asian lady who usually takes orders stayed at the till and filled several takeout orders, and a blonde girl ( who said she was from the kitchen) was delivering water and tea to the crowded (lol) house. We sat for 50 minutes and received cold, greasy fried wontons. The elderly people sitting next to us were there for longer, and didnt receive an appy. We left and will not be returning. <br/><br/>I wanted to like it because its the only Thai restaurant in my area, and i love Thai. I will have to drive elsewhere.

I went there as the other thai place in Chilliwack is closed on Monday. I can honestly say, I have no clue why the other reviews are positive. The spring rolls were horribly greasy and lacking filling. The chicken and beef were dry, despite being covered in sauce. Sauce was mediocre. I will not be going back.

Soooo yummy. It was so good! I couldn't stop eating!<br/>They really have a hard time communicating but they are lovely and the food was delicious!

Gluten-Free and enjoyed it a lot!. I am really careful about the food that I eat. Generally an ethnic restaurant is the best place for us to go out to eat, especially a Thai place. We have been to the other spot in town many times because they are always trustworthy, but I love having different tastes of Thai food. It is different everywhere we go.. I saw that Coconut Thai offered gluten-free options so we decided to try it out and seriously, we were delighted!! Twice now we have phone-ordered a spicy (level 3) red curry and also the pad Thai dinners and both times they were really good. They put the spring rolls in a separate container for my husband to enjoy. People mentioned a language problem, but I do not have any trouble whatsoever. We frequent many Thai restaurants from here to downtown Vancouver. The woman server, although she has an accent, has an excellent vocabulary and I was so thankful that she understood my questions and concerns about items containing gluten (severe allergy to wheat-based foods). So glad that we can have two Thai restaurants in town and I hope that Coconut Thai gets a lot of business too. Yay for Chilliwack to have diverse ethnic restaurant options that are good enough to brag about. We loved it.

Good. We took my MIL for mothers day and we enjoyed the food. I would have to say it is fairly expensive and the portions are a little small. My fiancé had the red curry with tofu and he enjoyed it so much he wants to go back again. I enjoyed it, but I do think it was a little pricey

Coconut thai restaurant. I voted to like it, but agreed with the dissapointing review in some ways. Language was difficult with the help and the tom yum soup had flavour, low on mushrooms and chicken for the price. The currys were just ok and the price of the spring rolls were the most expensive in town

Extremely Disappointing. I love me the Thai food, I have eaten it everywhere, and although I have experienced worse, this one is not far off. While waiting for my meal, my wife and I heard the microwave go off at least 6 times. Not a good sign. Nothing was fresh to order. <br/>We had fried wontons that had no stuffing at all. <br/>The green curry was edible, but no better than what you can make at home with a PC bought sauce. There was barely any chicken and consisted of mostly bamboo, which I love, but for 13 bucks, I would expect more protein. <br/>The fried rice had good flavour, but had SO MANY onions in it, not to mention it was a pineapple fried rice with no pineapple. <br/>The pad thai was half decent, but you could tell it was microwaved as the noodles were the same consistency as those in campbells soup!<br/>3 dishes and an appy, no drinks and it costed 55 bucks. In a strip mall that has the lowest leases in Chilliwack. <br/>I give this place 6 months tops. <br/>I will definitely not return.

Great Thai Food!. Visited there with the family the other night, and was impressed. The menu is quite extensive. <br/><br/>We tried two different soups, both of which were good - Tom Yum soup and wonton soup. Spiciness was great - you are given a choice of how hot some dishes are served. All other dishes we tried were very tasty - different spices used in each to give a nice unique flavour.<br/><br/>Would definitely go back again to try some of the other dishes. The restaurant atmosphere is nice, and the service was very good. It was quiet when we were there on Friday night. I hope it stays long enough for people to discover it.
