Review The Kiwi Cafe - Chester

A A
We went to this restaurant when we were in Chester and ordered Seafood and Haddock Chowder and it was so delicious and tasteful. It wasn't too heavy on the cream and the lobster tail was perfectly steamed. Although it was a small bowl that we ordered,  it had a generous serving of lobster. It was served with bread on the side. Also ordered a latte and it tasted good. The price is reasonable and customer service was excellent.

The food here is generally good, but lacks consistency. Last time I was in my lobster roll had a massive lettuce core in it. Service is usually good, but also lacks consistency. On one occasion our server dropped our food and never returned for a quality check, or to refill coffee and water. She spent the rest of our time there hanging out chatting out back until our food was long gone and it was time for a bill. Since coffee was empty by the time food arrived, we had no coffee with our breakfast at all. I asked if coffee included refills, and she said it did, but we hadn't been able to get one. So I asked for one to go rather than stay and tie up the table to drink another coffee. When the bill arrived, she had charged us for an additional coffee, but to go! I emailed about this experience and received no response at all. A simple apology would have been fine. I'm still giving three stars as the food is good usually, and MOST of the staff are excellent. This could be a 5 star review if it was consistently good.

Food and staff were excellent! The Haddock and lobster chowder was the best I've ever had! My wife's chai latte was the best she's has ever had. I wish I took more pictures. Our bill is also posted here as well. The desserts were great too. This place will be part of every visit we take to Chester in the future.

Was finally able to give the Kiwi Cafe a try when I was in Chester recently. The food was good as was the service. I personally find it a tad expensive for breakfast/brunch. I had the Avocado Toast which was good and my spouse had the Thai Noodle Salad to which they said was bland. It's a busy spot so be prepared to wait if you plan on dining in. Their sweets and treats section is very good. Their Oat Cakes were excellent. It's worth the try but not cheap if you're looking for an inexpensive meal.

Just finishing up circumnavigating Nova Scotia on a bicycle my friends and I feasted here and we were blow away. Amazing chowder, eggs Benny, soup, pancakes and peanut butter cookies. Strongly recommend!

I went to the Kiwi Cafe with my granddaughter ( a soon to be university graduate) and her mother for a Saturday afternoon lunch. We always enjoy good food when we visit the Kiwi and yesterday, April 30th, we had a lovely server by the name of Hannah. She was very attentive to us and she had a very engaging personality. We enjoyed our conversation with her about university life etc. She was a ray of sunshine on a bit of a dreary day. It was a pleasant experience and a lovely afternoon. Thank you Hannah for your service and your cheerful attitude. We will see you again.

Service was quick and food was delicious. Nice touches like a piece of dark chocolate served with capuccino. I had been there many years ago and forgotten how good it was. It was also reasonably and fairly priced. Hope we are able to get back there in the near future.

I love this cafe and visit every time I am in the area. The chewy ginger cookies are amazing. This time I ordered the half sugar double spice latte with oat milk and it was the best chai latte I have ever had. Everyone that works there is so nice!
