Review Splendid Essence - Charlottetown

This is simple the very BEST vegetarian restaurant we have tried in the north America the past 20 years. It's menu is large and what best to us is that everything we can eat on the menu because they don't use garlic, onion, leek, or cilantro for cooking. The dishes are so delicious. Their inner decorations are so nice making the dining so much pleasant!

Wonderful food, excellent service, great prices! We've been coming to this restaurant for many years, and we will continue to come here! I really can't recommend this place enough. The menu is also quite extensive!

We visited PEI from Ontario and were very impressed to find such high quality vegetarian Chinese food! Everything was delicious and felt wholesome. Great value too!

The best! The menu changes a bit. They have special menu for Christmas and new year eve every year. Nice and cute. Vegetarian only restaurant. You cannot tell it is a vegetarian only restaurant if you don’t know in advanced. Love everything in the menu. Love lemon tea for winter. Berries juice for summer.

This was honestly a pleasant surprise. It's vegetarian chinese food. We ordered a tofu dish, a potato croquettes stew, radish cake and radish pastry. All of it was superb. The tofu dish had a rich flavor and awesome texture. The portion was generous (easily enough for 2) The potato croquettes were great as well they were crispy outside and soft inside the cabbage base was tasty and sweet. The radish cake and pastry were perfectly cooked and the texture was superb for both. With the cake being my favorite, the texture was mildly crispy and really consistent and smooth inside and not overly salty, just right. The location is good, fairly central. Staff were good and courteous, service was a bit slow but it was during dinner hours. Price was good as well considering the size of the mains. Interior was well done and well lit. Overall highly recommend.

Love it! Definitely the greatest Chinese restaurant in town! Very friendly, giant mushroom is a must try√ we talked to one of employee there, he told us almost all the vegetables are organic! Such a wonderful surprise!

In Charlottetown for a night and we were looking for some good options for a vegetarian and a vegan and much to our surprise we found this little gem. I was not expecting a vegetarian or a vegan friendly place in Maritimes and definitely not in PEI. Were seated quickly and the place wasn't busy, but tables were filled in which was as a good indicator. Disappointed that green tea is not offered complimentary. Ordered a steamed dumplings to start with and Udon Noodles with mixed veggies, Mushrooms with Bok Choy, Spicy Soy Nuggets with mixed veggies. The dumpling were freshly made and good. The filling needed some more seasonings and were bit smaller than the ones we have added. The Chilli Sauce requested did the trick. The Steamed Rice provided with the two dishes was also smaller than anticipated and glad that we ordered the Noodles dish. After traveling for days and not having proper food, this food was a welcome relief. The udon noodles was perfect in every way except I think one of the mushroom or wood ears had a stronger flavour which over powered the entire dish. It was almost bitter. Not overly, but it still took away all the rest of the flavours. Mushrooms with Bok Choy was perfect. The flavours and crispness of Bok Choy was 5/5*. The Soy Nuggets with mixed veggies was amazing as well. The Soy nuggets small and veggie still crisp. Could have used a bit more spice though All in all a good spot. What was most amazing to me was that in the land of sea food that there was this place. Also as we were in PEI, it would have been nice if at least one dish was made with PEI potatoes and some Soy Sea Food dishes that are available

Guys, I am a meat-lover and my husband is scared of vegetarian foods, yet we both loved the food and drinks there! If you like tea, you NEED to go try them out. So cheap, so yum, excellent value for the portion sizes, JUST GO!! For reference, I had iced oolong milk tea with dry tofu dish (texture was similar to shredded pork fyi), and my husband had iced lemon tea with curry fried rice and bbq pork buns. ALL SO YUMMY. Our total was around $30 before tip. We'll be coming back once a day until we go back home to Edmonton :)

Best BBQ 'pork' bun I've ever tasted - they use veggie pork and it's way better than the real thing! The staff were friendly and walked me through their menu as I'd never been there before. I was so happy they offered an ongoing Dim Sum menu as some places only serve weekends. Great experience!

Wonderful place, it's my go to place to eat when in Charlottetown.

Hands down my favourite restaurant in Charlottetown. The staff are friendly, the environment is intimate and personal (lots of booths!) and I kid you not - Everything, absolutely everything, of their extensive menu I have tried is delicious.

This quaint little spot is unbelievable! This is a go to spot of ours and we've never had a bad experience. The food is made with quality ingredients (the tofu they use, amongst other things, is nonGMO!) and tastes so good. Thank you for making good food accessible!

My favorite restaurant in PEI! The food is always excellent. We've had almost every vegan item on the menu, my husband and I loved them all! We both hope that they will offer a vegan fried rice in the future. The service is great, all the people who work there are so sweet and always greet you with a smile. Thank you Splendid Essence!
