Review Hunter's Ale House - Charlottetown

Hunter’s Ale House (Hunter’s to those who know it best) opened July 27th 2005 on the corner of Kent and Prince Street, an Island owned and operated by professionals who strive to exceed the expectations of their guests in a pub atmosphere. Hunter’s made the pledge to offer the best value for the dollar when it opened and still offers Islanders and tourists alike that same great product and service.

Got the 10oz strip steak special. Portion was huge, steak was a perfect medium and service was great. Would go back again.

It all started great until I had to use the rest room, not 5 minutes later, my half eaten food and half of beer were cleared off and my table given to someone else. They gave me a new glass of beer and argued when I asked about the rest of my food or to be accommodated. I do not recommend encouraging this type of service!

Great spot, open late with good food and lots of choices. Very friendly service and good vibes! The philly sandwiches were awesome. One sandwich can be split between 2 people - large portions!

This place is a Charlottetown hot spot. Great bands and the best food. We have been going here since 2004 and will continue to do so everytime we are on the island. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Great atmosphere,. Amazing food, great service. We were there around 1230am and they still offered full menu. Very quick hit fresh food

We made our way out to Hunter's Ale House this weekend and we got one of the last tables! Got some chowder to start because there's been some good reviews about it.. It was great and definitely would recommend! The Fish and Chips uses Rickard's Red Ale in the batter and I really enjoyed that. Also, pictured is the Louisiana Fire Chicken Sandwich with an upgraded poutine. The jalapeños on the sandwich were powerful and a bit overwhelming but the gravy on the poutine had a nice meaty flavour and was a definite 10/10. We will be back! Great service.

It’s pub food so that’s what you get. If you’re looking for gourmet you will disappointed...the pub food however, has been great the two times we have gone. Portions are huge...share with a friend! Our female wait staff was friendly and gave great service...the male in the dress shirt we found to be socially awkward making for interactions with him awkward. No entertainment the two times we were there so can’t pass an opinion on that. Definitely will return...like the atmosphere.

We were given top notch service from start to finish. The food was delicious, we were checked on numerous times by several staff members to ensure we were enjoying our meals and left with full bellies! Thanks for a great meal �

first time i went to hunters in charlottetown omg it was such an inviting place my server megan was so pleasant and very attentive to everything we wanted and needed very good service and the food was above and beyond acceptional would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!!!!you wont leave hungry thats for sure!!!

We were on Saturday had the special chicken and ribs with salad bar..food was delicious and lots of it had to take some home as there was way to much to eat ...staff was great making sure all was good or if needed anything eles...great place to go for a meal and drink can take ur time and enjoy it...

been to hunters ale house about 4 or 5 times the entertainment is the best or some of the best on the island the service is great and you can tell the staff works hard the food is also amazing if i lived in charlottetown i would basically live there haha i would definetly be a regular not to mention while other places close during the winter hunters remains open dont know the owner personally but seems like a smart guy indeed each time was a awesome expirence hunters is definetly one of if not the best establishments on pei or at least charlottetown! hats off to barber & staff!

If you want to eat until there's pressure behind your eyeballs from the quality and portion order the gang platter for 29 bucks and if you were a dick this week to your girlfriend cause you quit smoking order the chicken curry nachos with no cheese to go sauce in a seperate dish as the chips and you'll be a hero as you watch bates motel on the couch with her favourite munchie when you get home

I thought the food was really bad. The fries were like cardboard cold sticks, and the fish left a "metal" taste in my mouth. The hostess was very nice and quickly sat us, and the waitress was very friendly and brought our drinks promptly. The restuarant refused payment from us, which is rare, and would'nt let us pay for our drinks, which we tried to do. We might would go back, but just to sit at the bar and watch and game and have a drink, but, I don't think we will eat there again.

Me and my husband just recently moved to charlottetown and picked this place to eat and loved the vibe from this place! Great staff, good food (portions are really big) and loved the music! Can't wait to come back �

Great food and fantastic atmosphere. The food menu is extensive to satisfy any taste. The beer menu also provides lots of choice.

Rudest service ever!! I've ate here many times and have never experienced such a rude waitress. Having a bad day? That's okay! we all have them, but my god don't take it out on your customers who didn't like something about their meal. Never once tried to fix the issue for us just gave us the bill pretty much saying "leave then" so we left and Won't be going back!

Was at Hunters a few days ago and was very displeased with the food!! Was not very hungry and ordered the bruschetta. Simple right!! Tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and parm, maybe a lil red onion... so simple right ? What I got was a deconstructed mess! A focaccia bread topped with little cheese. (Raw dog) without toppings. A bowl was paced the center with what was a melody of nothing but chunky green peppers( green pepper bruschetta), red onion and what kinda looked like 3 tomatoes pieces and some packaged factory parm. I asked the server if this was their take on bruschetta, not really reading the menu. She said "yes of course". Upon looking later after settling on the bill, it's completely not what the menu described. I later brought it to the attention of the manager asking if the Kitchen had run out of tomatoes? She said she'd ask. She then avoided coming back to me and give me no reply.... I have a blessed opportunity to travel the world and get to thousands of restaurants and I'd have to say that this... being a simple (can't F$&k this up) appetizer is a sad day for Hunters who's known for their creative takes on poutines and other local lobster/seafood dishes. Pay attention!!!!! People are watching and somewhat expecting the descriptions on what's on your menu. Both my sever and manager were brought to attention failed to address and correct this small hiccup. While I was leaving there was a poster of a new chef(or existing) that was being marketed as bringing new things forward? I hope with this review you might tighten the ship and keep the waitstaff and kitchen on the same page so that these mishaps don't turn into many... Thanks Hunters!!

The food and service was excellent and would definitely go back again but as a disabled person I found it impossible to access the washroom.. I will have to keep that in mind.

As soon as we entered Hunters, we were treated like queens. This is our 2nd time we went to Hunters on our 6 day vac. we liked it so much.. On our 1st visit the owner greeted us and each table and made sure all was well throughout our meal. Our waitress was cheerful and well organised. I asked if one of the TV's could be turned onto the Blue Jay game, like the other TVs had on..she came back saying that TV was for ads. Then the owner pulls down this screen in front of us and puts the game on for me!! WOW what service. The food on both our visits were awesome. great portions! Always great food and great service! You won’t leave hungry but you will leave with a smile on your face! Anytime a tourist asks me where to go for food hunters is my first answer! Great entertainment also!! Love this place!

We visit Hunters ever time we go to Charlottetown. Good food and great drinks. Always consistent and friendly staff.

Friday night, so I get it is busy, but we got here at 6:30 for a birthday dinner. Ordered at 6:50 and one hour later still waiting for food. One person at our table had to leave already.

Fantastic service every time! And amaaazing specialty poutines!
