Review Original Retro 67 Sandwich Shop & Bakehouse - Cape Breton Island

A first and last. This restaurant, which is apparently owned and run by people who hate food, has the worst Clubhouse sandwich I've ever had. The quality if the ingredients was equatable to a Lunchables Lunch Mate, meaning everything was highly processed and/or of unacceptable quality. The chicken was both watery and rubbery simultaneously, the bread (which was likely just Ben's White) looked toasted but was also somehow chewy and hard, the mayo looked like and had the consistency of hand lotion, and the bacon was obviously of the microwave variety. To top it off, the fries were under cooked with the consistency of damp cardboard. Given my wife and I both ordered the same thing, it meant that $34 was thrown in the trash, which is exactly where these meals ended up.

Great atmosphere, great wait staff (lingered a bit while dropping off the bill). Sandwich portion was a little small for me coulda been more fries to balance that out or a bigger sandwich. But still 4 stars ain't bad. Been there a bunch of times and still going back

Overall the atmosphere is pretty good. The sign on the outside is very inviting and the decor is modern and the floor space is clean. The loafs of bread for sale in the foyer and the near empty fridge of pop looks completely out of place and tarnishes the overall nice image of the pub/ restaurant. The bar had an extensive craft beer selection from Garrison, Breton and Nine Locks. There was a great wine selection and high end spirits... I have been to many craft beer pubs and have never been to one that played a Top 40 Country music station. This was as out of place as listening Hindipop at a BBQ steakhouse. Pick your audience! My girlfriend and I picked some of our favorite craft beers. Both items were flat and did not resemble the products that we are accustomed to. I would assume that the beer lines have not been cleaned in a while. By far, the worst draught beer experience I have ever had in a pub. We had the Tater tots which were edible but nothing special. My girlfriend ordered a Margherita pizza which was burnt on the edges and flavorless. I ordered the Pulled pork burger which was scalding hot on the outside and cold in the middle (microwave???) The beef patty lacked any flavor. After finishing my meal my stomach was immediately bloated and I felt nauseous. Pretty sure that I am experiencing some sort of food poisoning. Overall my server was polite and prompt. However, I noticed that the chef had a big beard and was cooking without a hair net. Although there are some great things about this pub on the surface, because it has failed miserably on the things that matter I give it a Zero out of Five rating.

Burger pattys were very rubbery and did not taste fresh. Bacon in the burgers was very undercooked and the overall quality of the meal was very disappointing. I will not be returning. McDonald's offers a better quality meal than what I had...

It was our first time there. Our server was excellent! My daughter and i had the pan fried fish. It was overcooked and very dry. Very disappointing:(
