I loooved this place. Martin our waiter helped us out being from aust, we speak no French and this was not a concern, he explained the menu to us. The food was to die for we had octopus and a pork dish the like I’ve not encountered before, so that’s always good. It was high quality and well presented. It was also a great experience to be provided some wine recommendations, tasting them before committing to them. We had a great time.
This is a great little place on Rue St. Jean and I absolutely fell in love with the city looking out the windows while enjoying a long, delicious meal here.
The wines are all organic and the foods are local, seasonal and the menu changes with them.
The server was amazing and he was very understanding with speaking English, as my friend and I didn't speak very fluent French. The menu is also bilingual, so don't worry about not knowing what you're ordering. Although, anything you ordered would probably be the best thing you've ever eaten. So no worries :)
Overall, this might be my favourite restaurant in the world. If you don't try this place, you're really missing out.

Quebec city has in the old city lots of charm and naturally the establishments in that area work hard to offer different decors and cachet to their visitors. Friends took me to that nice little restaurant/wine bar on St-Jean street. The decor is rustic but it fits really well with the thematic and menu they offer. The menu is based on seasonal cuisine that can be paired with one of their choices of private import natural wine.
Tres cool hipsterish restaurant with an array of delicious dishes (hence the empty dishes) and endless amounts of local wines. The one beer they have on tap almost makes up for the lack of air conditioning. I'd give it a higher rating but I pretty near sweat my ...well let's just say it was hot. A quick tip if you find yourself in my predicament. Go to the bathroom, it's even more humid in there, when you emerge the soggy humidity of the restaurant will feel like a cool mountain breeze. Merci Le Moines Echanson pour un bonne soirée!
Cool, spare, old-vibe kinda space. The food options are on the chalk board. Same with the wine list. Interesting wine choices. We had bourgot et Asperges and olives and wine. All nice enough. Try it.
As tourists, we wandered by here one evening and asked a departing patron what he thought. His response was succinct.. "Get in there!". We made a reservation for the following evening and were SO pleased we found this gem before leaving Quebec city the next day. Have been back on subsequent visits to the city. I recommend just putting yourself in their hands, letting them choose your food and match wines to each course. Set aside some time to linger with friends over a succession of imaginative dishes and extraordinary wines. See some of what we enjoyed on our first visit in the images above. (I licked that jar of Foie Gras parfait clean!)
Amazing but $20-$30 is more accurate. We had no reservations and we were welcomed. I don't think that will last long as this will become packed soon. Even my vegetarian was accommodated. Foie Gras appetizer is a must try. Be brave and let the friendly waiter pick your wines. It was a great pairing. We do not speak French and the waitress explained the chalkboard menu well. Wish I lived in Quebec to try this again.
We had 2 glasses of wine each, an appetizer, our main course and our bill came to $102. It was worth it. Heartily recommend!
Simply excellent! Arrived on a very busy evening without a reservation but treated like royalty. Went with all the wine match recommendations and were was very pleased with all. Eclectic menu comprised of full-flavoured dishes - outstanding! The boar was exceptional as was their take on a favourite comfort food, the simple borscht. Highly recommend this gem; if not only for the food, the warm ambiance is fitting of this northern city's charm.
Great experience. Lovely host. Food was delicious and inventive. Not for the timid. My wife and I shared some apps and the paella. Wine was a superb selection from our server. Desert was served on a rustic piece of wood. We shared the carrot cake and a baked apple. Both were creative and delectable. A lil pricey but good value for Quebec.
Good place!. 1st) Not $10-15 entrees .. really 20-25
2nd) Great atmosphere and food, service is very dedicated to the customers. They recomend the correct wine for the food you order. There are 5 choices of entrees and apparently they change them frecuently.
Don't expect to go and have a quick dinner, it is more for enjoying the moment!
3rd) Great organic wine from France
Thanks!
Do not hesitate. Cute, excellent. We had several appetizers, the cod, cheese and lots of great wine. We spent a very pleasant two hours in this charming bistro. All the dishes are served in an interesting presentation, such as a salad in a tall glass, and the cod and chorizo en croute One of our memorable dining experiences we will always associate with Quebec. Outside the wall away from the busy tourist area on this street.
Very very nice. Great service. Yummy food. And got to try quite a few new wines that were well paired wit the food.
A wonderful place with good food and good wine. The servers were extremely helpful and made you feel welcome even if you are not an expert on wines/french food.
Great. Very good dishes with fine wines . The waiter is kind and ready to help you choosing . I love the crème brûlée au foie gras .
Showed up late without a reservation and our server, Simon pulled out all of the stops. The menu is entirely comprised of daily specials. Opt for the wine pairings, trust me - it's worth it! Leave room for cheese AND dessert!
Très convivial. Idéal pour groupe de quatre.
