Review Marcelo's Restaurant - Cambridge

Dave Marsillo
now that's italian cooking at its' best! started off with an eggplant and arugula appy, then the prosciutto - provolone veal and hand made pappardelle pasta in a bolognese sauce...a master piece! also, tried the home made bean soup....full blown foodie alert here ! go see Marcelo and Rodi, you will not be disappointed!

Little gem. Excellent Italian food. All home made. Highly recommend!

Had the veal with veggies, the veggies were great, the veal is not my thing but it still tastes good! Service was great and the environment is calm and relaxing.

Spectacular food. The bread is to die for. They were super accommodating to put a vegetarian dish together for me. Top notch service. Great cocktail menu.

Absolutely incredible! Have driven by many times, and always wondered what it was like. First of all, I'm fairly certain it is a family who owns it. Everything was made from scratch and fresh. The service was incredible, they understand the importance of customer service and making their patrons feel at home. The risotto was to die for and the wine and quality of food for its price was incredible! If you haven't been - I'd highly recommend making reservations and going.

Fantastic experience, very friendly staff. Definitely a must for any avid diner!

If they put as much flavor and effort into the rest of their dishes as they did their lasagna, I can't wait to come back to try the next dish. Great personal service, charming atmosphere. It would be perfect for a date night. Main dishes range from $20 - $30, but well worth it. Their bread was fantastic, but order a bottle of their Italian flat water if you don't drink wine. The city tap water will ruin your taste buds.

Marcelo's is a really good spot for sure. The food is really good. The pasta and all ingredients you can tell are fresh, plus the service is kind, attentative and honest. My wife and I will definitely go back and were very happy with our evening. I'd recommend it to anyone as a nice evening with great food and family. Only giving it 4 not 5 stars as you can still tell they've converted it from an old commercial/industrial building. I honestly feel if they put $20/30K into getting the interior upgraded they would be ram packed every night. Definitely recommend!

This food is prepared with pride and love. Many things on the menu are exceptional. In addition the bread is fresh and the accompanying tapenade very special.
Service is friendly and caring with items explained in as much detail as you wish.
Very disappointed with the way I was treated. Walked in and was immediately told they had just closed yet the open sign was lit and there was a couple sitting at the table looking over menu's.
"bluebutterfly" review has absolutely no credability. My wife and I have had three meals, each have which have all been fantastic! I have always found the food very fresh and flavorful on each occasion. It is the type of restaurant that makes you feel like an appreciated customer.

I question the veracity of "bluebutterfly's" review with comments such as "the vinegar was too bitter." I highly doubt that that this individual has ever stepped foot into this restaurant, let alone sampled any of their food.

If you’re expecting an Emeril’s experience, I suggest that you go to New Orleans. However, if you're in Cambridge and want fresh, excellent quality Italian food - Marcelo's will not disappoint you. Don't be deceived by the exterior of the building, as with most things....it's what on the inside that really counts.

Food Not Good. We came to this place expecting amazing food based on the reviews that were written on here. When we walked in, we noticed that the place was quite small. There were only a few tables in the front, and a few in the back. The woman who seated us was somewhat friendly but a bit awkward. We were given menus and decided on the Chicken Parmigiana with Potatoes and the Gnocchi. We were first given the complimentary bread with vinegar. The vinegar was quite bitter and not tasty. The bread was good on the inside but not too good on the outside. After about fifteen minutes, our main meals arrived. The Chicken Parmigiana was absolutely disgusting; it was cold and too soft. The Potatoes were undersalted, and there were hardly any toppings, only a few cooked tomatoes here and there. The Gnocchi were also a disappointment, considering they were made in the restaurant. The bill came out to almost $50, what a waste considering that we were given unedible food. As we were eating, we weren't even asked if we were enjoying our meal or not. Will definitely not return, what a ripoff!

One of the best joints I've been to since moving to the area a few years ago. Always fresh and delicious with exceptional service. Worth every penny.
This is a quaint, classy venue where the staff treat you like family. The service was excellent and the owners were close by and stopped by each table to check in. The servers were polite, professional, knowledgeable but, not afraid to crack a joke. This family owned business is a hidden gem of this city that anyone who enjoys Italian food absolutely MUST try....but not for vegetarians. In the future, I hope they will add some vegetarian options. You can't let only the meat eaters enjoy this place!

This is a quaint, classy venue where the staff treat you like family. Marcelo's is ... very unassuming. When you walk into Marcelo's you enter a nicely furnished room and you are greeted by the Marcelo's wife, Rodi who will show you to your seat. On his particular night, Marcelo's was happening. Our waitress came over and took our drink orders right away. We ordered sparkling water for the table and everyone got a Negroni (a fabulous combination of gin, sweet varmouth and Campari with orange peel) to start. This is becoming one of my favourite c
