Review Fifty's Grill & Deli - Cambridge

Eat here. It’s a great spot. Portions are incredible. Food is quality, like mom cooked it. Service is friendly but not too friendly (some diners can be a bit much). Give it a go. Get the roast beef.

This was $15. Bananas were not yet ripe so they were hard and there was hardly any hazelnut sauce in the crepe. Ordered a Mexican burrito for my husband and it had no meat in it. Very bizarre. Will not return as was a complete waste of money.

Great place & has something for everyone! Went with a table for 5; someone had pasta, another had seafood, two had the ribs combos, and someone had breakfast. Place to go, especially if you can't decide what to eat. Food was delicious and the service was exceptional! I wish I remembered our server's name. She was so friendly and left such a great impression!

My server was very friendly. My food was hot and tasty. Good value for your money.

The sandwich was pretty good, the fries not so much. They seem to have gone with a cheaper, wax covered fry, probably cheaper on their end. Good protion size though. However, I have never felt so rushed to eat a meal I was paying for. The waiter seemed like we were inconveniencing him for being there a bit past their closing time. Next time, don't seat someone who may stay past your posted closing time.

I was at breakfast this morning, first time back since re-opening after Covid. My rating has nothing to do with food quality, it is all to do with service and mainly with the server named Margo. My companion and I were both shocked at how unfriendly and detached she was. Even though she was wearing a mask you could tell 100% that there was no smile under it! For an 8am Monday breakfast there was no friendly greeting. Margo turned and walked away from our table as my companion was speaking to her. If she had stayed to listen she would have heard him ask for water, no ice. He received water with ice. My companion had to ask a couple of times, for Margo to speak up as he was having trouble hearing her. When we were done she automatically brought one bill. When I requested separate bills she just turned and walked away leaving the bill she had brought on the table. We had no indication that she was planning on returning with separate bills. It made for an awkward situation for my companion and I but she DID return with separate bills so all was good in the end. My suggestion for the restaurant is to hire staff who really WANT to be there and have a cheerful personality especially first thing in the morning! My suggestion for anyone going early for breakfast, ask for a server with some life in them.

it was very yummy, the whole family enjoyed it. My mom ordered a side of peanut butter and they happily found some. She was very embarrassed but it was great service. Would recommend to anyone :)

This meal was a big disappointment!! We haven't been here since just before the plandemic. The service this time was ridiculous! The server didn't put our order into the kitchen staff in a normal timely manner.... It was close to thirty minutes between ordering and food showing up at our table! Then the server did NOT provide cutlery or napkins until we asked. She seemed to be annoyed at the request. My mother's coffee was stale and the amount of fries with mom's "jumbo Montreal Smoked Meat" was less than half of the serving given in the past. The restaurant must be under new ownership, because the serving sizes were much smaller than the past, both the men's and women's washroom were a filthy mess, and the service was terrible..... The bill was nearly $50 for a hamburger, Smoked meat sandwich and non-alcoholic drinks!! After being customers for close friends 20 years, we won't likely be back again!!!

Mediocre. Bland. Perfect if you like Boston Pizza. There’s no possible way I can describe it more accurately. Imagine four spices, including salt and pepper. No technique, 3.7 stars maybe in ...........
Dine at home from microwaved frozen food, from President’s choice frozen gooodies and you’ll be better off.
Very poor experience. My son (16 years old) was served under cooked liver (bloody) and was subjected to violent food poisoning as a result. Called to alert the restaurant, raise awareness and protect others, but was treated with disdain by Manager "Charles". Was a loyal, weekly customer, but will not return and will not recommend to others.

Went the other day with my wife. My food was excellent (had a meatball sub with caesar salad) it was a good portion, cheesy and sauce covered, well seasoned.

My wife had a hot beef sandwich and was not impressed. Her caesar salad was good but the roast beef was dry and the sandwich was lacking gravy.

Based off price and food portion, I d try them again. New review to follow soon 😊

Fifties is the best diner in Cambridge by a sizable amount. The food is always very tasty and the portions are far greater than any normal sized human needs to eat. We always have food left over or we share a single meal together. Place is always full however the service is quick and friendly.

Last week I took my mother-in-law and my daughter to 50's Diner (Hespeler Road) in Cambridge for dinner before going to the Dunfield Theater. My daughter has Cerebral Palsy and uses a wheelchair for mobility. Part of her condition means that she experiences great difficulty swallowing so eating can be quire an ordeal for her. Our family has traveled across Canada and the USA. We always ask if she can order from the children's menu as she only consumes a small amount of food. I explained the situation and asked if we could please order from the children's menu. For the first time we were told NO by the waitress - no exceptions made!! We were quite taken aback. I asked to speak to the manager who said no way would they make an exception for our daughter's situation. We were appalled by the attitude of both waitress and manager. We will never return to this restaurant and will advise our friends of our experience. Totally unacceptable.

Great Food and Greater Service. The jumbo meat platter was fantastic.

Good food, good service. So we went to shades mills and my daughter got hungry she wanted a burger and instead of mcdonalds (which I despise) we went across the street to fiftys. both my daughter and husband got burgers and I got the classic clubhouse. the childs burger was the same size as an adult burger, a lot of food for the price. ($10 average). my only concern with the dining experience today wa the ridiculous charges for extras. the gravy was 1.50 for a tiny portion that didn't even do all the fries and the extra cheese instead of tomato was 1.50.... either then that. good service and only $2 more per serving hn fast food.

For what it is, this place is great. One of the only places around with a decent smoked meat sandwich. Lots to choose from on the menu and very reasonable.

Totally disrespectful and condescending. I was so disappointed by the service I received. I am a teacher, and I took my ill mother to the restaurant last week. Service was slow, but we weren't in a rush. The side dishes were freezing cold, and it took the waitress 15 minutes (during a time when only 5 tables and 4 waitresses were working) to return. Since we were nearly done eating the chicken (which was otherwise okay) we wanted to head off. She told us she'd pack up the sides-which we obviously didn't want-then charged us full price. We spoke to the manager and respectfully offered to pay the appetizer price (since that's what we ate, and we wanted to pay) and the manager/owner's wife, who was incredibly condescending from the start, began yelling at us to pay the entire amount, and that the cold food was our fault! We will never return. There is no reason for anyone to be spoken to in such a disrespectful, condescending manner, and I hope you never have to experience something so humiliating. I can't imagine a business like this surviving much longer if this is the way they treat customers.

Today's special is western omelette. It comes with ham. I asked could I please have bacon instead of ham? Answer? Yes sir, for a charge of $1.50...what??? I'm not asking for shrimp, lobster, etc...wow what a rip off.

The portions are the size of my left leg. Delicious food. I loved it.

The service has changed drastically. No refills, no substitutions and charge extra. After coming here for years I was very disappointed.

Never Dissapointing. We always enjoy our food at the Fifty's. Sometimes there is a wait for breakfast and it's totally worth it. Any time of the day, busy or not, the food is always good. The portions are fantastic, and the variety on the menu is great. The atmosphere isn't too bad, it is a family restaurant so you will get the odd crying baby or loud kid. The service is pretty good as well.

If your in the mood for a nice sloppy breakfast this is the place to be. I have heard wonderful things about 50's lunch menu, but in the past 5 years I can't get past how awesome their breakfast is. Fifties is definitely one of my favorite breakfast joints.

Cheap decent food and fast service and you can't beat 2 for 1 smoked meat sandwiches!!

Good eats. Looking to carb-up before a big race or perhaps pack on a few pounds before going on the next season of survivor?....then this is where you need to be.
This place is what it is. I am not reviewing a fine dining establishment here, just a big diner serving big food, patronized by some very big people. This place is great for people watching. It will remind you of the Monty Python Meaning of Life bit with the guy in the restaurant. (those who know the reference will get it!)
Very good smoked meat sandwich and the best part is that you throw in another .50 cents and you get another one to take home.
The NY steak is an excellent cut of "AAA" and every time I have it, it is cooked perfectly.....however the frozen vegetables they serve (and if I am wrong and they are indeed not frozen then my comment should read....the overcooked mushy vegetables...) is just wrong.
Service is very good and you will be hard pressed to get a server without a personality. (think mels diner....Flo and Alice).
I always order iced tea but if you do make sure you order a side of water to tame it a bit otherwise you will have a sugar-rush
Food 8/10 Service 8/10 Atmosphere 7/10 People watching....priceless

$2 for every extra omlette topping? That's petty damn steep not to mention ridiculous. I doubt we'll be going back.

Great food and huge servings.

The Best. This is an incredible restaurant. The portions are large and the food is excellent. Almost everything in the restaurant is made in house. The homeade honey mustard salad dressing is amazing. I often purchase a container to take home for my own salads. You will not find better calamari anywhere. My family were recently at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant in Orlando and said it could not touch the calamari at 50's. I have never had a bad meal here. Try it, you will not be disappointed.
