Excellent deal with the lunch special, and most authentic Indian cuisine in the tri-cities. Go here for the lunch special instead of one of the sub-par "buffets" around. Very generous portions! Try the Malai Kofta as well, for the best vegetarian dish I've ever had!
Always good food and friendly service. I’ve been coming here for years. Never had a bad meal.
Amazing flavours and very courteous staff who seemed to enjoy teaching us about the culture and customs. We orders a Thali platter and an appetizer to share and had lots of leftovers! We will go back again and again!
It is easily the best Indian cuisine on the region, great service, and the food made my taste buds euphoric! I'll be talking about this place to everyone I know :-)
Been going here for a few years now. Always great food & great service. Going to start going at least once a month. Family loves it.
Fast and friendly service and amazing food. Definitely recommend.
Love this spot! Great food, great service. It is one of our favourites!
If you like spicy, Vindaloo is for you. Wonderful experience. Food was great, as was the service. Will come back, and bring friends.
Astonishly good Indian food! I loved every mouthful!
Been there 3 times. Best Indian cuisine in Canada!
The best food and service in Cambridge!! Highly recommended!!
I love this place, butter chicken is my favourite! But everything is delicious! Very clean, friendly staff, great food! Decorating is very nice as well!!
The place had a decent ambiance. The service and food is good. Biryani is a must try here both for vegetarian and non vegeterian. They have thali at lunch which serves enough food for a single person which is also good.
Looking for indian food at a reasonable cost and varieties,do visit this place.Indian resturant worth a try in kitchener location
It is a clean place with great food. I wouldn't say it's high class or fine dinning but definately good. Friendly staff. Fresh food. Great samozas. Portions are a 3 out of 5 for meat dishes.
My fiancé and I eat at Grain of Salt whenever we have a chance! Amazing food. Service is always great as well. We usually start with the Samosa Chaat. It's amazing. Everything we've both tried has always been great. Can't go wrong. Lovely place.
I have been looking for a good Indian restaurant in Kw area and in the process I was suggested by a friend of myne to try out grain of salt. I have been here for lunch on Saturday and ordered non veg lunch special. Ordered butter chicken as special dish, I would say this place has a amazing butter chicken. Ambience and service in this restaurant is suprisingly very good compared to other Indian restaurants in kw area. I would highly recommend trying this restaurant.
Came here with my sister and had a good experience.
The wait staff was pleasant and attentive.
We decided to get the appetizer plate and it was flavorful however we had to ask for the sauces for the samosa and others and they only gave a tablespoon of each in large cupd so weird ... So we had to ask for more.
We ordered the lamb vindaloo, chicken korma and Grain of salt Tandoori platter. We were warned about the vindaloo was hot but since we have gotten this at every Indian restaurant we have ever been to were not worried. We should have been. It was inedible, the sauce just tested like crushed chili peppers and after the ladies serving us admitted that can't even eat it. That sucked and was expensive to boot.
Ok onto the rest, chicken korma was delicious, Tandoori was flavorful, rice was boring, naan was great. We were disappointed that all the meat options were not tender or fall of the bone which is what we would have preferred. But the flavours were there so not that disappointed.
Overall cost was a bit expensive for the entree portion size that were given and I hate having to choose between rice and naan ... Seriously give me both, rice cost pennies.
Pricey, but DELICIOUS! I Love this place for authentic Indian Cusine. You know it's good when you walk into an indian restaurant and there are people of that origin as patrons within the facility. The food is amazing, hot, fresh, delicious. I often get take out for a night shift and will have enough for two dinners. YUMM!
Thank you. Well I have been and yes I will be back. Friendly Attentive staff. Fast service, clean and extremely tasty. I will be back again and again
Best Indian food I have encountered. Delicious dishes served by a friendly and caring staff. The whole party left satisfied!
Yum Butter Chicken!. My fiancée and I LOVE their butter chicken! We usually order a mild and a medium and mix the two. Their curries are all gluten free, and their breading is made from gram flour (chickpeas) so we enjoy the variety of options. The staff are always friendly and happy to see us, which is nice!
All the food is good. Shrimp pakoras were a real treat. Save room for their marvellous kheer.
Amazing. outstanding.. We hail from India and are very well aware of what the Indian restaurants have to offer. Tried out innumerable of them. This is one restaurant which stands class apart for its taste . Mouthwatering dishes. We ordered for vegetable maratha and paneer tawa masala with Lukhnavi chicken biryani. The first bite itself was mindboggling. Too yummy. Perfect combo of spices and herbs. We gonna go over and over again. We packed the left over and enjoyed it at home too. Good service, nice ambience . U gotta eat here.
Best Indian food in the area! Fresh and always delicious!
Amazing! The service was impeccable. Incredibly clean. Best Indian food I've had. Totally worth the price.
Absolutely delicious! Great service, well priced. We will definitely be back.
Best Indian food around!. I would like to start off by saying that the new location is astonishingly better than the previous one in Preston so don't let the lower rating fool you. The old location was quite sketchy and uninviting but regardless of that, the food has always been amazing and consistent. The location change is just what the Grain of Salt needed and I strongly encourage and recommend people to dine there. I've had many different items off the menu and have never been disappointed. Eat in or take out, the food is consistently delicious and the service is great. If you're looking for authentic Indian food then look no further, Grain of Salt will be the place for you!
Great lunch specials - delicious Korma and fab beef vindaloo. Friendly staff who were all concerned that we get a good meal. Great portions. Highly recommended!
Best Indian Cuisine KW Area. Our family loves Indian Cuisine. After moving from Montreal 3 years ago we have traveled throughout the region looking for great Indian Cuisine. We found Indian restaurants in Guelph, Kitchener, Cambridge, Brantford and Burlington. Grain of Salt is the best by far. I have to admit they had a problem when they moved from the old Preston restaurant to their new digs on Hespeler Rd. early summer 2012, but that was short lived. The service is impeccable and the food is very good. Don't miss out on this one if you like Indian Cuisine.
Best Indian Restaurant By Far!. This is the best Indian restaurant by far that I have been to! We decided to visit this place based on the reviews read on this website. We were glad we came! When we walked in, we were stunned by the wonderful decor and the cleanliness of the restaurant. We were greeted by a kind server who brought us to a table. When we sat down, we were given menus and ordered right away as we were hungry. Right away, we were given a complimentary basket of some sort of cracker with dip; it was good but not my favourite. Then, our appetizers came. The vegetable samosas are the best I have ever had! They were really big and crunchy, just perfect! The chicken papri was also delicious, with the perfect mix of flavours. Then, our main meals came. The butter chicken was TO DIE FOR!! It wasn't spicy like it has been at other Indian restaurants, it was mild and tasted amazing! The mango lamb was also very delicious, the sauce was wonderful, one of the best I had ever tasted. The garlic naan bread was the best I have ever had, soft and hot with the perfect amount of spices. I was thoroughly impressed with this restaurant and will definitely return!
Best Indian Test. I am Indian and try to find very good Indian taste in Brampton area but I couldn't found it. One of my friend live in Cambridge and we were going together at this place. I really enjoy very spice and tasty food same like India as well as I am comfortable with staff service as well as restaurant owner Mr. Bikram Gussain. From that time every month I like to visit this restaurant compare to GTA area restaurants.
Our first time here. Food is very tasty. Well priced good service friendly. Very good food.
This is some of the best Indian food I have had anywhere. The price is fair and the staff are friendly. The location is a bit sketchy but I have eaten there a few times and have not had an issue with the attached run down motel.
Not bad. It look average from the outside but the food was fairly good. Being an Indian I gave a pretty good idea about Indian food. I will recommend. Nan and palaak panned
We had had Grain of Salt before...we had take out from their downtown Preston location and I actually found it very expensive. Yes, the food was good but for the price I found it a little steep.
Visited the Modern India Restaurant today, the food was delicious and they offer a buffet system, in which you can eat all you want for a standard reasonable price.
They offer a variety of dishes such as veggies, meats and even desserts. The customer service was great, they take good care of their customers.
Self-serve for buffet and they also offer free water. Yes you read it right this restaurant does *NO CHARGE For WATER* best thing i found at only this restaurant.
Eat and Enjoy!!!
This place is a hidden budget gem, I just recently discovered this place and had the opportunity to eat here two days in a row. I was very surprised to see more vegetarian options then meat. Amazingly price buffet with always fresh foods, constantly being replenished.
I would highly recommend this place definitely worth a visit.
We trued their Chana Bhatura and Gulab Jamun...Chana Bhatura was delicious, but we were disappointed with the Gulab Jamun, as they served them cold like they forgot to heat them up. But overall good food experience with them.
This place was full of surprises and worth visiting. Different types of items in buffet for both vegetarian and non vegetarian. Directly out from the kitchen serving fresh, hot food. The main thing is, this place is pocket friendly for the buffet. Worth spending 10.99$ for lunch-buffet or 15.99 for dinner-buffet. Very responsive staff with friendly nature. Great customer service!
My wife and I had a lunch buffet at Modern India. We are vegetarians and the choice of food at the buffet was extensive. Along with salad, there were also other Indian starters such as Pani Puri and pakoras. The buffet was laid out such that the meat and non meat dishes were placed on separate tables. This is important for vegetarians as it practically eliminates the possibility of any mix up. The food was tasty and spices were well balanced. Even the dessert choices were plenty. The buffet was priced very reasonably at $12 plus tax. Very reasonable when considering that at other Indian restaurants in Cambridge you are charged this price for one third the selection.
I’ve been here few times now. There are plenty of vegetarian options and different curries. You can’t beat their buffet price of $11-14. The food is always fresh and tastes great. Service is prompt. I highly recommend if you are in the KW area.
