I've only ever ordered the naan and the daal as we usually get food to go and then make some of our own Indian at home to add to the meal. The naan is great and made with a tandoori oven (I think). The daal was pretty spicy so be prepared if you're white like me and can't handle too much spice.

Service is hit or miss and often there's no one else in there except staff so it can be awkward. All part of the adventure, right?

Very authentic. The food is fantastic! It's better to do take out than eat in because its not the most esthetically pleasing place to dine in and from outside it does not look very inviting but I can assure you the food is amazing and affordable. Love this place!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!. There is a buffet on the weekend for 5$ I looked forward to from 9am-2pm... But we always get their take out because it is the most authentic, amazing tasting indian cuisine I have had!! I have been to many places and although the appearance of this place looks rough the kitchen (you can see it through the open door) is impeccable and the food even more so. The family who runs this are sooo nice, I really thoroughly enjoy my time at this restaurant. Even though it is short lived do to take out :)

Fresh authentic home cooking. The food is amazing, I would definitely ask what's made fresh when you arrive. Take out is the way to go at this place, the restaurant may not look like much, but once you taste the food you will find this hidden gem to be a regular spot to eat.

This place was actually so amazing... I had a really bad craving for some butter chicken tonight. And walked in at 1030... They were empty and dodnt have any sign as to when they were closing... I was greeted by a man who said he didnt mind taking my food order. I ordered my butter chicken and rice and he made it all fresh for me... Only charged me $12 and then when I got home I realized he had packed me 2 full containers of food... Thank you sir!!! The dining room is small and dingy but I'm sitting here eating the food at home, it's phenominal and I have more than enough for lunch tomorrow... I will most definitely be back!

Goat Curry. I agree. The goat currie was beautiful. Rich, with whole spices and pleasantly hot. The nan was a little doughy and there was not enough chicken in the butter chicken. I live near by and I will likely become a regular. I used to go to the restaurant that it replaced almost weekly. I was sorry it closed. But this food is better.

Quite Tasty albeit a tad strange. This location has in the last two years had three different restaurants with the same essential menu, I strongly suspect advertising is the biggest hurdle they face.

If for some reason one has yet to consume goat now is the perfect time.

While I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala it is neither the reason I keep coming back, nor what inspired this review.

The Goat Curry is a fantastic mix of nearly lethal spices and a complex melange of cooler flavors. While not for the faint of heart or spice averse one cannot afford to miss this place.

Pretty pricy. My friend told me that Dhabas are traditional Punjabi restaurants serving spicy food to hungry truckers.

The food was OK. I had a goat dish with two naan breads, served by really friendly staff. The place itself was friendly, with the family/owners sitting at a table by the entrance

The only thing I didn't like was the price. I ended up paying $22 for the goat dish, 2 naans and a lassi. Thinking about the great indian buffets I had in the NE for $12 I don't see myself going back soon.

Authentic desi taste just love it. This is my second visit to bkd, my first trip was horrible and it was year ago and after my first visit and an over cooked fish i've decided never to go there but than i was invited by a friend a week ago and i was really surprised by an excuisite taste of charga and biryani and the service was vfast, there samosaaas r ok but i love the taste of thier butter chicken perfect balance of ssweet and sourness, tandoori chicken was lil'bit medium cooked but it taste spicy and good, I asked the waiter about the surprising change he told me that its under the new management and guess wat the waiter was actually the the owner of the dhaba anyways, I love the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant after the renovation and i will giv 5 out of 5 to bkd.

You will have to know your Indian food when ordering but the good thing is if you know your Indian food you are going to be very happy you found this place. The food is authentic and some the best Indian in town. Decor and location are not the best but that certainly has no effect on take out.

Love this place. Clean and Friendly. Food was prefect. Fresh, and tasty! Chargha was the best I've ever had ...and I consider myself an expert on Indian cuisine. Nana bread prepared and served warm and fresh. Not at all greasy. Goat and Biryani was mouth watering. I can't wait to go back!

LOVED IT!!. I love this place!! Be warned, you need to get over the fact that this place is a hole in the wall, the restaurant has not charm or ambiance. The dining experience is purely about the food.

I've heard rumours that the chef has changed, if so the food may not be as mind blowing as it used to be. Try the chicken tikka masala, the sage paneer, and the curries. My colleagues and I were addicted and could eat there almost everyday!

Stuffed full for 26 bucks!. After seeing the other reviews I just had to check out Baba Ka Dhaba. What can I say? More yummy in my tummy, that's what! After a drive across the city using my handy GPS I found Baba's tucked in one of many little strip malls. Found a place to park and hiked in, there wasn't much to see, no menu posted at all! A kindly gentleman came out from the back and asked if I had placed an order, no I had not. "What would you like" he says, "what do you got?" I says. He than proceeded to rhyme off a list to make my head spin. Without much effort I ordered up butter chicken, chicken biriyani, pakora in yellow curry and 2 pieces of Naan bread (did I mention all that for 26 bucks!) After a wait of about 1/2 hour. My order was up, I shuffled out with my booty and hightailed it back home to enjoy the goods. Pure yummy! So glad people mentioned this place, now I can enjoy some of my favourite food with out breaking the bank.

Don't let the lack of frills fool you. Styrofoam service and flourescent lighting mean nada. Best Indian I have had in this city. Cheap, friendly staff, will be returning many many times.

Sweet Baba :-]. (reproducing part of my comment on foodosophy's review)

we're long-time Baba Ka Dhaba patrons, since the early days when they did not even give you utensils (the 'authentic way' is to eat with your fingers). the lamb chops are awesome, goat biryani is yummiest, garlic naan is the best and actually has fresh garlic, and Baba is such a sweet guy.

ps: Baba himself has moved. restaurant is still there and food is still very good. new owners are expanding into next door.

pps: but wait. tried this place next to the recently closed Anpurna. guess who came out of the kitchen... Baba! he's ba-baaa-ack.

Cultural Gastronomy. Ohhh Bab Ka Dhaba, How I love thee... So I will begin by saying if you have ever complained about water spots on your wine glass or sent back a meal because you found an eyelash in your mashed potatoes, then this is not the place for you. However, if you have scarfed down the most delicious chicken and rice you have ever had in your life, served by a dirty handed, breast feeding mama in an el salvadorian open air market and thought, "man, this rocks"...then head to the hood for so awesome grub!!

Baba Ka Dhaba is a tiny, dark hole in the wall on 17th Avenue SE and the homestyle indian fare they offer is about as good as it gets. The Chicken Tikka, made fresh to order (and it takes some time) is perfectly prepared, charred a little on the outside but the meat is juicy and tender, the tikka spices are authentic and bold. I also love the Chicken Saag, pureed spinach with lots of intense spices, whole cardamom pods and cloves and big chunks of chicken!! I usually eat all this wrapped up the naan bread, which my best friend appropriately refers to as "angel wings". They are not licensed but if you're on a date I'm sure you could bring your own white wine spritzers in your Starbucks travel mug!! Be creative and enjoy!!

Great Flavors comes in Small Places !. I decided to check this highly rated Indian delight as many mentioned it was good. I arrived to notice a small menu and a small operation. This place is not very big but very friendly and I can tell they were trying their best to serve me well.

After checking their menu, it is sorted by Daily Menu items from Sunday to Saturday and side items. They made it simple for me and I chose very quickly. I ordered the Goat Curry, Chicken Pilau, Garlic Naan, and a Chai tea. One good sign was the food was taking some time to cook. I waited about 20 - 25 mins. Some may think this is too long but I have noticed that a hurried Indian kitchen generally results in a sub-par quality. So, I was excited. As the food came out, it came on foam plates and cups, something I would expect from a small place, but the food looked and tasted FANTASTIC. The Chicken Pilau was a generous portion and moderately spiced (you can ask them to make it hot, but I was not in mood for the heat).

I like the quality of the chicken and how they presented it with the rice. Very tasty. The Goat curry was also powerful in spices and flavor. You can tell some effort went into the cooking. The goat was well cooked and enough to contain all the nice flavors. Potent ! The garlic naan was a generous size and came with some spices and you can taste the garlic noticeably. The Chai Tea came hot, good strong flavors, and you will see that it was cooked right instead of something out of the microwave like other places.

This place may not be in the best of areas, but is absolutely worth the all the efforts to get to. I am pleased and very satisfied with their service and hospitality in what they specialize. Great Job!

I'll will most certainly be back .

My most pleasurable restaurant finds are ones that look like nothing on the outside (a hole-in-the-wall, if you will) but serve the most delicious food. Baba Ka Dhaba most certainly falls into that category. Our friends Amit and Michelle, who discovered t
