This is a sit-down/takeout franchise that is part of the New York Fries chain, resembling a modern style diner. Despite it being a faux-pas to order a veggie burger from a “burger” establishment, we were not disappointed! The patty was a uniform consistency (no weird mixed veg added) and with a tonne of fancy topping options, I think our veggie burgers were taken to the next level. Plus it’s always nice to indulge in New York Fries!
It's a fastfood chain but of the burger places I could go to, I choose this one. I like their fries! They are crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. Not salty. Very clean. Very good. The same can be said about their beef. The burgers are delicious and the veggie toppings are crispy and fresh.

Expensive for what you are getting. It's a small hamburger so get a combo and utilize all your many toppings, you will need them to fill up. Food is always good though and the fries are always fresh!
I came here with a few friends and ordered the Hawaiian burger with no additional toppings. The pineapple and wasabi mayo were absolute standouts and I loved how tasty and different this burger was. Would definitely go back again. The fries and gravy taste exactly like NYF. Highly recommended!
Fresh great tasting right off the grill. These are expensive burgers and fries which is comparable to a sit down waitress serving restaurant, or more but the quality is good. Everything is made to order and you get to pick your own toppings for your burgers which are also fresh. They are a bit skimpy on the portions so you have to ask for more but is not a problem as they custom it to each order right in front of you. If your feeling like ordering a good tasting burger and fries, onion rings and spending the money, this is a good place to go.
Gluten Free Friendly. The only place that I know of so far that I can get a gluten free cheeseburger AND fries in Calgary!!!!!! They are VERY careful about cross contamination and I loved it. Just a bit too pricey for us to go more regularly.
Totally different burger place.
pros. choose from very unique toppings, not just basics.
cons. very expensive, long waits.
End result. very tasty burger, not like anything elsewhere, made how you want. Even fries are unique as they are New York Fries.
Last burger i wanted more as it was really good.
Little bit slow today! Please get the air conditioning working cause it was so hot inside like being in an inferno. But the food is good we come here as a treat once in a while. It is more expensive than McDs. I usually get too much sauce. This time I calm down a bit and just got Curry Mayo and Hot relish. It was perfect!!! They got the same toppings as Subway so I picked my usual toppings. Yum yum!!!
Strawberry milshake and mini burger. It is very acceptable berry milkshake and good calorie super mini vege load burger.
Great Burgers and Fries. Fresh burgers made to order and NY fries can't beat that!
We came here on fathers day since it was buy one burger get one for free and I've always wanted to try it. I found the burger patty itself to be quite good and I liked that it was thicker. The large selection of toppings was also a bonus. We also ordered onion rings and were very disappointed in the quality of them. Red onions were used which I personally think should not be used to make onion rings. They were also over fried to the point of them falling apart.
I've always wanted to try this "high end" burger joint - restaurant since ive heard a lot of good things from my circle of friends. Went there this afternoon (sunday, july 8, 2012). They were not that busy when i went there so i tested the knowledge and patience of the cashier - apparently, i think the cashier was the manager. Asked him every possible questions from the history of thr company to the product and to their competitor - five guys. He answered everything with conviction and smile. When i asked about how do they compare theirs to five guys, he gave me a modest " all i can say is that our burgers are voted the best in Calgary and we are offering you the chance to try the best of the best!". I was sold! That tall asian-looking guy knows his product by heart. So i ordered and i was so happy to take part with the "choose your topping" thing. I love it. They also pampered us with free sample of their products such as te veggie works and pralines ice cream. Before finishing my order, i asked the manager to change my fries from small to large, and he gladly changed it. And then, one more test, i asked him to changed it from large into a poutine, ad he still has the smile when he told me how much more i need. Also the staffs - not sure if they were twins - are A+ as well for me. Overall, great food plus great service = an experience to remember!
Fast Food Done Right. Had the good fortune to luck into a burger here last weekend. Just by random chance we had to be in this area, at lunch and happened to drive right by.... fortunate for us. After experiencing the mediocrity of Fat Burger and the sheer awfulness of Five Guys, South St Burger Co. was a pleasant surprise that shows you can make good fast food. And that good food beats manufactured hype any day of the week.
Unlike most fast food burgers, the meat was moist, properly cooked and nicely seasoned. The buns were fresh and sturdy enough to withstand a wallop of the many optional toppings. Fries were fresh, were not soaking in grease, nicely seasoned and came in edible portions.
The place was packed but the line kept moving, seats kept opening up and the staff was friendly, efficient and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. A little on the pricey side at ~$20 for two combos but the burgers are top of the food chain for Calgary fast food. The real positive is that you no longer have to pretend that Five Guys has good fast food burgers, cause now you can get the real thing. 4/5.
Better than fatburger.. Doesn't quite meet five guys. Food came out HOT! What a rareity as of late in my fast food travels. Burger was good, juicy, tasty. Fries were fries. I liked that the staff were always cleaning, wiping, or tidying something. Says a lot about the quality of the restaurant.
Good Stuff. I'm not sure when they opened but I'm sure glad they did. The patties weren't dried out from over grilling and the choice of toppings was great. The onion rings were awesome. Big portions and crispy coating. They actually looked better in real life than in the pictures from the take out menu.
Glad I don't have to drive out to Cross Iron to the South Street there or to Five Guys in Airdrie anymore when I'm in the North and want a decent burger.
