YUM! first time here and the lemon soo gai, ginger beef and chow mein are all delicious! This will be my go to spot now. It's nice to have some place close with delicious chinese. Score
By far the best Ginger Beef around and the veg and beef is great too, along with the shrimp and snow peas. Pass on the War won ton soup though.
I go here more then Lemon Garden when I order Chinese. My only complaint is I wish their combo dinners let me pick what entrees I want (Lemon Garden does that and it sometimes lures me that way instead) as they charge me up the yin yang to sub it out.
Good food, but...... ....you have to be a garlic lover........a little overpowered in my opinion....other than that no complaints.
Good Chinese Food. Consistently good food every time I've ordered. They under promise and over deliver on delivery times which is nice. I'd rather be told 40 minutes and have it in 30 as opposed to the other way around. Definitely worth trying out for a reliable meal you know won't be bad.
I live in the neighbourhood and have been ordering from Hot Wok for years and have to say that is is one of the best Chinese takeaways in the city. Any time I have Chinese else where I find myself comparing it to Hot Wok and it usual never comes close to being as good. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed!
Fast delivery, good food. I received the menu from this place numerous times, so I thought I would try this place out.
I called for delivery, and was informed that there would be a $3 delivery charge, and the minimum amount before they will deliver is $20. I was also told it would take 40 minutes.
In actuality, delivery time was only 15 minutes ! That was a very pleasant surprise.
The food was delivered fresh and hot.
I ordered :
beef w/ broccoli - very good, each floret soaked up the sauce very well, and was cooked with a nice crunch (it was a tad on the soft side, I suspect that the delivery time may have softened the vegetable up somewhat). The beef was tender, and the sauce was super delicious.
house special fried rice - at first glance, the rice was 'dark' in colour, I thought that it had too much soy sauce, hence the dark colour, and I also thought it would have been super salty. It wasn't salty at all. It had a nice 'smoky' wok flavour to it, and had generous chunks of char sui. It was nice to see that instead of cutting up a shrimp in smaller pieces, they used the whole shrimp. Good flavouring overall.
salt and pepper ribs - I found these to be a tad on the salty side, however it had generous amount of chili flakes, so it does have some kick to it. The ribs had a nice deep fried crunch on the outside, but the inside was a totally different story. Instead of frying the ribs until they were dry, these ribs were very moist and juicy on the inside. By far the best ribs of this kind I've had in a long time. If they had toned down on the salt content, this would have been perfect.
Overall, prices were fair, the food was very good, and delivery was fast. Will return for sure.
Great value, great food!. My boyfriend and I received a couple of take-out menus in our mail box from Hot Wok Cafe', after moving into the area a year ago. Last week, we finally decided to try it! I'm so glad we did! The prices are incredible (we got 5 dishes for $59), the delivery was quick and the food was hot , fresh and delicious!
