Kim Anh Vietnamese submarine shop! Literally located next door to my walk up apartment and these subs are full of great nutritious flavours! Seems to be a local family run business and I like the beef sub without jalapenos. Pricing is good value under 10 and portions are filling and refreshing! The Bubble Tea is a nice refreshing treat as well! Seating is just perfect for the quaint sized Sub Shop and in the summer time a great spot to park your rear outside with your grub and people watch and soak up the 17th ave sunlight!Patrons are friendly and the staff are friendly as well!
Today on the dinner menu I decided to try Kim Anh for their Vietnamese subs. This fast food restaurant is located across from Western High School along Calgarys 17th avenue district. Upon entering the restaurant I was nicely greeted by people working there. It seems this place is a family establishment, and I highly support family run businesses. I ordered the lemon grass chili chicken sub which comes with your choice of toppings (cilantro, peanuts, jalapenos, onions, and pickled carrots). When i took a bite out of the sub the chicken had a sweet tangy flavor with a noticeable lemon grass taste and bread was chewy / cripsy. The peanuts were a good compliment on the sub and provided texture. Prices are reasonable around $7 per sub. I'd recommend giving this place a try for their subs only.
One of my favourites I usually get the beef Vietnamese sub with not cilantro, hot peppers or hot sauce. Their subs are super tasty and their bread is softer than most. The only thing I will say is that they charge extra for cheese and also I find there is less meat than other Vietnamese sub shops.
Boyfriend and I have been here a few times now. The subs are always tasty (I get mine without cilantro). I usually get the beef and it is super tasty, especially with the carrots and cucumber. The roll they are put on tastes nice as well.
My choice for Viet Subs on 17th Ave (Saigon's Baguette is good too, but their hours are a little haywire).
Their Satay Beef sub can't be beat. If someone suggest you go across the street to Thai Tai for a sub, laugh in their face and take them to Kim Anh.
I've tried the bbq pork, satay beef and satay chicken. All are tops. Meat is not super high quality but it's very well seasoned. Melted cheese, peanuts, pickled carrots and fresh cilantro plus this brown sauce really completes the sub. Been eating these for over ten years and don't plan to stop. Better than Thai Tai. Not quite as good as Bahn Mi Boys in Toronto, but who can fly to Toronto on their lunch break? No one.
Best viet subs on 17th. Been going here for a long time and like it a lot. The satay beef sub they have is delicious! I encourage you to give them a try - it truly beats out other viet subs in the area.
The best Vietnamese subs in Calgary! Could eat the sauté beef sub with extra beef every day
Great subs. I've been coming here for years and they have never disappointed. I love their lemongrass chicken sub and spring rolls. Yummm.
Tasty bites, better than te drunkards paradise across the street
Great Subs at A Reasonable Price. Much better than Thai Thai, good selection, no lines!
Best Vietnamese subs I've ever had!. This was the first place I tried a vietnamese sub and I was instantly hooked. I have now tried a few other places and none have come close. Can't go wrong with a lychee bubble tea and the chicken satay sub.
With visitors to Calgary in mind. I think if you live in Calgary and frequent 17 Avenue SW you likely know and love Kim Ahn Vietnamese Subs, salad rolls, etc.
Kim Ahn for me, often is a great experience. When you walk in you immediately get a hello, slip right into line or hang back reading the wall menus. Within a few minutes you have in my opinion, one of the best satay subs in Calgary, and you are on your way.
If you are visiting Calgary and a stroll along 17 Avenue was in order, Kim Ahn is a great place to stop at. Order a couple orders of salad rolls or split a satay sub, sit at the window inside (4 seats in a row) or on the benches out front, and watch the world walk by for 10 minutes.
So with the visitor in mind, if you like vietnamese subs and salad rolls, and so on, or wanted to try, I think Kim Anh is worth your visitor dollars. Kim Anh is dependable little vietnamese flavoured quick stop along 17th Avenue. (once or twice referred to as the 'Red Mile')
The best Cold Cut. They make the best cold cut here and the price is so cheap...it is so much better than the thai thai subs across the street!
Kim Anh Vietnamese Submarines on Urbanspoon Cheaper than Thai Tai, a far shorter line, and better overall. Obviously, I highly recommend hitting up Kim Anh. The chicken satay is my favourite, and the beef satay is also good. I wasn’t a fan of the tofu sub because they don’t use firm enough tofu for my personal taste, but the veggie one is fine.
