I was craving for Jap but I ended up to Viet again since the Resto that I was planning to go to was closed. Pho So 1 is very accessible for both commuters and people with private cars. It is nearby bus stops and they have parking lots at the back of the building too. It was 4 P.M and I came in just me as their costumer. I like the interior and the ambiance because it is bright. So after you seat yourself the staff will hand you the menu and two small paper and pen. Its for you to write down the code number of your order and the other paper is for you to keep until you pay. I ordered Rare Beef and Beef Balls noodles XL with fresh Chili pepper, Basil and Sprout. It took 8-10 minutes before a single order gets to serve. The soup is tasty and just the right amount for the noodle. From now on, I will be ordering Rare beef since it gets to cook while swimming in the soup. And the texture and taste of the beef is soo good if its not cook too much. So far the best Pho house I tried.
Excellent pho and bubble tea. Price is cheap and you get a lot of food. My bowl of pho is full of meat :) Will eat here everytime I am in the area.
My favourite spot for satay beef pho soup!! Mmm mmm can't get enough the broth is full of flavour without adding sauces and spices!
We'll be back many times over. Oh tip, services is okay. But they are just direct and to the point, good food!!! 👍👍
I quite often order their food as take-out as they deliver (which is awesome). The food is always pretty good and consistent, however I always find the lady that picks up the phone to be a little rude. But this is something I can easily look past for the convenience of their delivery, and the decent meal that I get.
We tried this place out one day because it was open late...best decision we ever made! This us honestly the best phö in Calgary, believe me I've tried them all. The broth is fresh and flavorful bursting with cilantro, green onions and a perfect ratio noodles to beef with the perfect amount of satay!
The owners are very friendly and attentive, and this place is cheap too! You simply can't beat their hours, price and quality... I have tried, this is now our go to Phö spot!!
Gruff staff but delicious food. Good value as well. I regularly pop in for tasty comfort food. Staff could be friendlier, and are on occasion.
Always the to-go place for us when craving for Vietnamese pho. I love it's bun bo hue - the noodles are smooth and springy, slightly different from the noodles that typically used in pho. The broth is flavorful and subtly spicy - usually I would ask for sate sauce for extra heat. Small bowl is quite huge. Parking can be heard to find during lunch hours as it shares the lot with a supermarket.
This place is one of Calgary's best kept secretes. The Beef Pho is amazing. The broth is the best i've had in the city. I usually get pho from here a couple of times a week for take out. I occasionally dine in, and find the service is very no non sense. Sit down, order everything you think you want at once, because they probably won't come back to your table if you don't wave them down. That being said, if you want great food, reasonably priced, very quickly, then this is your place.
Best pho in the city (particularly the beef sate)! The vermicelli dishes and salad rolls are also awesome. I've been to all the other Vietnamese places in the area and they are definitely the best. So what the decor could use some (okay, a lot) of refreshing - they have the best food, which is what I come for. Plus they always have plenty of space and speedy service. Love this place!
I love this place. The pho is very tasty. I always ask for some satay on the side. I love their satay, it is a good level of spicy for me. This place also have fast service and many seating available.
Clean, fresh, decent service. Curry beef vermicelli. Meat wasn't hugely flavorful but tons of veg and very fresh. I'd order again and go here again.
Pretty good pho. Spring rolls are extra delicious. Portion size is decent. Only thing they need to change is their table cloths. Makes the entire restaurant smell sour especially in summer.
Pho So 1 was pretty darn good. The place is bare and minimalistic, but if you’re here for food, the prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are generous. That’s all I want when I go for pho. Close enough to downtown and they are open 7 days a week (bonus!).

I literally go to pho so 1 once a week. I love the family who owns this place(the mom and son. They're super sweet every time we're there!) I'd say this place is the best pho place in Calgary! Best satay broth and perfect hangover cure;)

Birthday fun with friends. I decided to celebrate my husband's birthday along with some friends, and with the help from Urbanspoon, helped me narrow some new places to try pho at. I decide to try out Pho So1 off of Center Street which I have passed by many times and thought to give it a try.
They accommodated our party of 10 plus a toddler quite well. Just when we came in, the smell of pho was in the air....made us even more hungrier. With our party. I didn't really bother to ask them what they ordered or how it was. No complaints.
I started off with the deep fried wontons and had the rare beef, flank, and tripe pho. The wontons were pretty good and when the soup came...they missed the tripe and when I asked for it...they were more than happy to bring a small bowl of it. However, I'm not sure if they charged me extra for it?? Although it did list upon the menu it contained tripe.....
Overall, the place was neat and tidy and when I made reservations earlier- they were friendly and happy to take the reservation.
I would like to come back and try other dishes. :)
The toddler loved the soup broth his dad had, I believe it was the pho that had the beef meatballs.
Gem in the wall. Pho So #1 was my first experience ever with Pho and remains my favorite after nearly two years of being a customer there. I've tried a few other places and they do not compare. Although the atmosphere leaves something to be desired it is always clean, and really its not fine dining but amazing food that keeps me coming back for me. Their bowls are so generous its rare I can finish my small Pho tai, since we absolutely have to have their fried chicken as well which is to die for. Everyone i've taken with me has loved the place as well for good reason, it still remains one of the best Pho joints here in town, I am just sad I don't live closer or I would be there more often but will head in whenever I am in the north end of town!

Good Place For Pho. Came here 2 weeks ago. This place is a good place for Pho as well as Pho Kim which is nearby. I'd say the Pho Sate is better here then at Pho Kim but the Pho Dac Biet wasn't as great at Pho Kim. Same servers as usual been coming here for a couple years. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
YUM.. Among the best pho bowls I've tasted. LOVE the copious amounts of fresh bean sprouts and Thai basil that came with it. My mom was pleased that her vermicelli dish had a decent amount of meat and veggies that looked like real food, not just a scattering of strange-looking flakes/nuggets that can pervade Vietnamese restaurants. All at a price on-par with most places! I can foresee coming here a lot.

A family favorite for YEARS!. My family and I have been coming here for over a decade and their food has been nothing but consistently delicious. I enjoy their chicken pho as well as the flank, rare beef and tendon soup. Their soup base is flavorful and their meats are plentiful (compared to some other places that take a single meatball and cut it up into 4ths or 8ths and consider that as your portion of meat!). We have had their stir fried noodle dishes and as well as the bun (vermicelli with vegetables and charbroiled meat dish). All excellent! Portions are large (largest of any place we've been for pho)!
Prices have gone up in the past 2-3 years but that's consistent with all restaurants here in Calgary, unfortunately. The one thing that has changed in recent time (the past year I would say) is the service. The ladies that now serve us speak minimal english so very difficult to communicate with them. However, the manager there is always nearby to help sort things out if there's an issue or a question.

Best Vietnamese Spot!. If you haven't tried this place please do so right away! You won't be disappointed the food is cheap and the flavor in both soup and rice vermicelli are amazing. I have been coming to this Pho for over 10 years now and have never gotten sick of it. Its delicious and you won't be disappointed, I've tried so many other vietnamese restaurants in Calgary and its honestly not as fresh and the other places have a strange taste to it and are really dirty. This place is excellent!!! The best in town.

Tasty pork chops, a little expensive. Went here for lunch, and ordered the rice dish with grilled pork chop, egg/meat pic, and shredded pork, with shrimp salad rolls as an appetizer.
The shrimp salad rolls (I believe the menu calls it meat shrimp rolls) was good, fresh basil leaves, tasty pork slice, however I found the rice wrap was dry, I felt like it was pre made instead of being freshly made. They kind of skimped on the shrimp too, it was like one shrimp but cut in half for one roll. It was served cut in half, which I liked. Nice sized chunks of peanuts on the hoi sin dipping sauce.
The rice dish however was very good. The fish sauce had a nice sweet taste to it and a little heat, perfect ! The rice was hot, the grilled pork chop however was grilled to perfection. It was not dry, the marinade was very tasty - albeit a tad salty - and the entire pork chop was very juicy and tender. The meat/egg pie had the right amount of seasoning, and was super delicious. The shredded pork was good, but in a small amount. The veggies were a bed of iceberg lettuce, 2 slices of cucumbers (fresh), and 2 slices of pickled carrots.
The service was ok, since there wasn't very many people at 11 am on a weekday morning, I received my meal promptly.
Depending on what you order, some of the prices I found to a tad on the pricey side, but nothing major.
Overall, despite the pre made shrimp salad rolls, the entire meal was good.

So delicious! Find myself going back time and time again. Huge portions their shrimp fried rice is amazing!
My Fave in the Area. I really like this place. They have huuuge portions, and the broth is excellent. I have eaten at many many many Pho joints, and I judge them by the broth, mostly. This place is Top 5 in the city, and best in the area. Pho Kim behind them is good, too, but when I get to choose, it's Pho So 1.... They sell sate by the jar, too! The sate is good, but I've had better. It's got some real kick, though, so if spicy = better for you, you will like their sate. I go with some vegetarians, and they never have any problems here. My vietnamese buddy told me they use chicken instead of beef for their broth so it's clear?? I don't know if that is true or not, but I don't care. Either way, he finished by saying "that's what my mom uses, too" so it can't be that bad..... Overall, if you think you know your Pho, and haven't tried this place, DO IT. I'll post some pics soon.
Delicious Food and very generous portions for great prices!! What more can you ask for?? Ok so the decor isn't spectacular but the food is great so who cares? Yum!
YUMMY! (but check your order for pick-up!). My hubby and I have been going here for 4 years and is our only PhoSo spot! The wor wonton soup (in which I usually add rice vermicelli) is always fresh and seasoned perfectly with crisp veggies and lots of delicate wontons. The beef flank soup is also lovely and spicy. Depending on how busy it is, it does take some time to get your food, but to be honest, this shows me that it is made fresh, not simply reheated! The only (small) caution I would make is to check your order if you call in for a pick up. It may be a language barrier but oftentimes things are missed or replaced w/something we didn't order. The staff, however is always nice and courteous and willing to correct it.

Che Ba Mau (three bean drink) #1. This is my FAVORITE SPOT in the city for vietnamese! The food is always fast & delicious, and this spot is also one of the ONLY places left in the city that serves the 3 bean drink!!! This dessert is my fav, and hard to find for some reason! If you aren't sensative to texture I highly recommend this!
Not TOO sweet, yellow & black beans with green strips of jello, crushed ice & coconut cream. YUM!
I usually stick to the Pho but my friends have enjoyed other dishes.

What a great restaurant. Being a vegetarian I have tried out so many restaurants in Calgary that just don't understand that I actually do not want meat in my soup. Pho So 1 not only gets it, it's the best soup in Calgary. The staff were all really sweet too. I'm definately going back.
Best in the city. I must admit-I'm a bit of a pho addict!Calgary has MANY sub par Vietnamese joints and still quite a few absolutely awful ones.Pho So is definitely neither.I rarely ever stray from my usual-large satay rare beef pho with pork spring rolls and an iced coffee with condensed milk.The large size is $7.25 and is a HUGE amount of soup.I've never felt the need to order the extra large!One of the best broths I've ever had,crispy spring rolls and homemade hoisin make this place a regular for me.My only complaint is that when you get pho for take-out,the amount of broth they give you seems substantially less than when you eat in.Other than that-Viet perfection!
