Good shisha, tasty hummus, yummy tea, but sometimes service is slooooow.. I've been here five times in the past three months and I like it here.
Compliments: it can feel pretty homey, cozy when it gets busy: you see people playing games, drinking chai, smoking shisha and hanging out. The couple that run this joint are sweet for the most part, sometimes the man can get grouchy and impatient but only happened 2/5 times I went there.

The hummus is really tasty, but the jajeek (yougurt dip) leaves you wanting more as it is very plain. I would recommend this place because it has reasonable prices for being located on 17th Ave, and do like it as much as Deagla on 17th AVE SE and 51 St.

Excellent Lebanese. One of the top 3 Middle Eastern eateries in the city. The food is always fresh and delicious, the place is always clean, and the staff (owners) are excellent. If you are looking for lunch (shish/shwar) go no further, it is not the classic greasy Donair other places serve; but one that is crisp and fresh. The other menu items are excellent as well. I can highly recommend their tabooli salad (unusual in that it contains almost no grain), as it is one of the best I have tried.

If you are around the uptown 17th area, this is a must go.

That Baba Ganoush Though.... I used to always go to Soby's as a kid with my Dad when he was located by Bernard Callebaut. I always got the chicken shawarma and happily it hasn't changed.

It is a DIFFERENT shawarma then what you find in town. Cedars Deli make a very good chicken shawarma. I love it but this one just has a far superior taste for less ingredients and a good price.

My sister and I ordered two chicken Shawarmas, 4 vine leaves (he serves them warm, I'm not used to that! And it was great!) and an order of Baba Ganoush and Pita and paid 30 dollars. We were full wow.

The Baba Ganoush is fantastic make sure you try it if you go.It'll alone keep you coming back.

If you are looking for a simple cheap option for a great sandwich go to Soby's. I may be a bit nostalgic (So happy he is back serving great food) but I really love that Shawarma because it tastes unique compared to every other run of the mill Shawarma joint.

YUM!

Great Donair. Sick and tired of all the dirty and messy shawerma shops in town. This place has a nice sitting if u are looking to sit and enjoy some non-soggy perfectly put together Shawerma !
Perfect for huge crowds too. The space is fairly spacious and nice and CLEAN.

Restaurant Quality Lebanese. The guy who says they microwave the sandwiches probably works at Shawarma Knights. I used to go to Sobys when it was over on Macleod Tr. It closed for a few years and now its back. I'm glad because it is my favourite Lebanese place in Calgary. I usually get a shawarma and the combo platter, it costs me $20 but it's worth it. If you like the typical sharwarma that is like 2 pounds of water soaked meat drenched in 2 or 3 types of sauce then this isn't for you. If you have enjoyed a meal at Aida's on 4th then you may be interested in Soby's. Try potato fatayer's, stuffed grape leaves, and fattoush. 4 out 5!
