Stopped in again for lunch today and once again I left happy. The service staff were both friendly and attentive. I got a recommendation to try the penne and it was a very good decision. If you haven’t been, then check this place out for a casual meal and beverage.
Came here when they had karaoke so was quite loud inside. Wish the place was better lit as it feels quite dark and has a dungeon like feel. Their macaroni and cheese is very good though.
Found Black Swan by accident. For once, an accident turned out to be a wonderful
experience! I was visiting Calgary for work,
and on many occasions working out of town as a female can be very frustrating. Usually a single female is ignored in most restaurants
and pubs.
First kick at the can, the staff was very welcoming and
treated me no differently than the boys.
The service was exceptional. I
usually eat light on the road, and ordered the classic Caesar and added the
blacken chicken. Oh Oh my! Yummy-me-o!
The romaine lettuce was obviously fresh and crisp. They used real parmesan cheese. Homemade croutons which was delish! The dressing, I’m not certain if it was made
in house but it was very yummy. The chicken was a real breast. Was not dry, it was done extremely well and
the spicing really danced on the good old taste buds for a long time. Portion size, more than enough couldn’t eat
everything. But I did inhale the blacken
chicken. HeHe
I went back the next day for super. Different staff was working. The service was very consistent and they were
equally welcoming. I ordered the chicken
quesadilla. I usually don’t say this
very often, but another Oh Oh my! It was
loaded with veggies and chicken was not scarce.
Again the veggies looked and tasted very fresh. They say you eat with your eyes. The colour of all the veggies was awesome. The spicing was phenomenal. The spicing was warm but very tasteful and
did not knock out the taste buds so you couldn’t taste anything else. The spicing was layered and each wonderful
note of various spices use came out. The side of salsa and sour cream was very generous. And
again it danced all over the good old taste buds. Because it was loaded, I couldn’t finish it
and took it away.
Definitely will visit the Black Swan next time I’m
Calgary.
If you come more than once and sit at the bar and introduce yourself to the staff, the place turns into Cheers!
Remember you, your name, beverage and usual dish
A proper pub. Went for b'fast. Had the chicken&waffles. Perfectly done, hand de-boned real chicken with a delicious coating. Very friendly service. Will be back.
Great service!. There aren't a lot of places that spring to my mind when someone asks me where I've had great service - but the waitress, Christine, at the Black Swan is definitely among the top contenders. She was efficient and attentive without hovering.
The food served at the Black Swan is your typical pub fare. I tried the Yorkshire puddings but I found the gravy too thick for my personal taste - however their horseradish sauce was creamy and delicious! The chicken quesadilla looked tasty with large chunks of chicken pieces within the tortilla. One member of our group had the meatloaf, which he said was juicy and tender with the right amount of seasoning.
Overall, I give it a thumbs up if you want a relaxing evening of darts and comfort pub fare!
I will make this review short and sweet...
Black Swan in my opinion has the absolute best wings in Calgary! Not messy, full of flavour, full of awesomeness!!
Try it out for yourself!

Eight times out of ten, the wings are the best in the city on wing night . The soya seasame are wonderful if you like a tad of salt with your beer. They are a must for me. I try to go often, as the wife will allow.
Okay servive, music is too loud, generic overpriced food, HOWEVER I was once there and saw a woman I know, making out with another woman. I cannot promise this will happen if you go there, but worth checking out, just in case.
Good pasta. Husband loves the pasta here. Food is ok, nothing fantastic. Not keen on the interior but will go here when husband wants the pasta!
Fun!. To be honest, I don't think I have ever eaten here. I only go for the drinks and dancing on Friday nights, which is so much fun.
I love being able to dance one minute and play darts or pool the next. The atmosphere here is always upbeat and I think it is well worth paying $5 to get in on the DJ nights.

The Black Swan’s menu had lots to choose from, I really had a hard time making a decision, so I went with an old British classic, the bangers and mash. The mashed potatoes and gravy were the best part of the meal
