I've only been here once, but it was an overall positive experience. The food was delicious.
I suppose the only downside from my experience was that, while quite friendly, the waitress went MIA quite frequently for extended durations. There were empty glasses on the side of the table for long periods of time. I'm only taking off 0.5 because the rest of the experience was positive.
Definitely worth checking out!
Love this spot! Steak is always such good quality and amazing cuts. Reasonably priced selections although some items are a bit on the pricier side. Overall the ambience and the service is welcoming as well.
Amazing steak and service!
Got the porterhouse for two, so filling and perfectly cooked.
The lamb chops are also great here, bit pricey but highly recommend.
I was pleasantly surprised about the changes made in this restaurant. My first visit happened when it first opened years ago. At the time, the food was kinda like HK cafe style, but just in a nicer setting and higher prices. So, I didn't go back once since.
I revisited yesterday and really enjoyed it. Our server was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I didn't order much as I am currently having some successes in losing some weight....ha...ha... So, I had the Steak Diane only. Everything on the plate was delicious. The meat was tender. The sauce was full of flavours. If I have to make a suggestion, it would be about the steak. I am kinda suspicious the meat wasn't "beef tenderloin" as described on the menu. Don't get me wrong. As I said, the meat was tender, but it just wasn't "tenderloin" texture. After all, it was only $32, so it's not a surprise to me that it wasn't tenderloin.
Overall, I think their prices are reasonable considering the setting, food and service - the full dining experience. Plus, they can make a good spicy Caesar!!! Keep up the good work!
When La Villa first opened (before it was designated La Villa West), it had a great chefs menu for a very very reasonable price. For 50$ (or close to it) you got an appetiser, a main and a dessert that was chosen by their chef. It was always a well chosen menu, but even their regular fare was absolutely amazing. I honestly can say I've had some of the best steak I've ever had at this restaurant. Their steak Neptune was to die for.
However! Recently, I believe the head chef has changed over because the food is no longer as good. It's still very tasty, but not quite as amazing as it once was. Now it seems like dishes are either a hit or miss, when before it was always a hit. Also, they took away the chef's menu, which was an absolute tragedy! Prices have also increased enough to make this no longer affordable.
Still would recommend it to friends, just not as highly as before.
LeVIlla is a romantic, modern, and cozy all at the same time. I have been here for a Christmas party dinner and my birthday, and both times my experience here is phenomenal. The food is really well done, it is delicious and mouth watering good! The atmosphere and ambience here is really nice, and the service here is great. We did not tell the waitress it was my birthday, but she quickly realized the situation because of gifts under the table and she asked the chef to arrange sparklers and candles on the dessert we had ordered. She is an example of their observant, attentive, and thoughtful waiters/waitresses. Great restaurant.
Really nice!. My husband and I went to this restaurant the other day. We purchased a groupon to this restaurant. At the beginning, I was skeptical because I have seen this restaurant featured in many other coupon sites. However, thought I would give it a try. The food was excellent! We ordered an appetizer to share, 2 different entrees and had a dessert! We had nothing to complain about. Our entrees were cooked to our liking and the service was great! Even the decor was pretty nice. Would definitely come back again in the future!
Lunch was great. Service was great. The wood crackling in the fireplace and that smell of wood burning while the snow was falling outside was the perfect setting for a winter lunch. Large menu. Food was very good.
Expensive!!!. The resturant is good however, it's very expensive!!!
Barb. Great food. Service was perfect and loved the location.
Anniversary Dinner. We chose LeVilla to celebrate our anniversary largely because of the positive reviews and high ratings. It was a Friday night, a beautiful evening, so we were seated in the enclosed patio. My wife and I split a ceasar salad and we both ordered the steak Neptune, although pricey at $39.95 we both enjoyed our meals. The steaks were melt in your mouth tender, the scallops and shrimp done just right, even the veggies were great. Service was excellent, highly recommend this restaurant.
Good Food and Service. We went on a Saturday night and had reservations. The place was busy but we were taking to our seats right away. The ambiance is excellent and the place feels very cosy. We ordered the parmessan fries and salmon chowder for appetizers, which were good. I ordered the rib eye steak and the wife ordered the Halibut, which were both quite good. It's definitely a place to try but I will try other 'higher end' restaurants in the area before coming back to one.
Pleasant Surprise. We particularly enjoyed the patio and the food was delicious, service was well paced.
Excellent, great service food and ambiance
LOVE this place!. I have been here twice now- both for birthday parties. The restaurant itself is something right out of Banff- It's cozy, warm and elegant. The servers are very friendly and attentive (even when it's super busy). The price is a bit expensive but the food is really good and made with the best ingredients. Definitely worth the price for a nice dinner once in a while. The food may take longer than the usual restaurant to come out- but relax, enjoy the time with your company and eat the warm, freshly made bread with butter.
The two times I was there I ordered the Beef Ginger Potstickers (4 on a plate), the famous Applewood Cheddar Stuffed Meatballs and the Braised boneless Bison short ribs (a bit salty for my taste but still amazing). Every single dish was just delicious! They know how to cook their meats to perfection (my boyfriend loved his Steak Neptune). For dessert we shared the Orange and White Crème Brule- very flavourful.
I highly recommend this place- one of the best restaurants in Calgary for sure!
Early father's day dinner - amazing food and service! decent price too! highly recommended!
A Wonderful Meal. Excellent service and wonderful cuisine within very attractive surroundings. The "Taste" menu choices at $36.00 for three courses or $43.00 for four courses is first class. To start I chose the Lobster Bisque that was delightful and accompanied by freshly baked breadrolls. It is a very, very long time since I have tasted such an excellent Roast Rack of Lamb. I am not a dessert freak and having noticed that the restaurant has the English Stilton cheese listed in various parts of the very wide ranging menu I asked if I could trade a dessert for a Stilton cheese plate. Absolutely not a problem I was told! In fact, nothing was a problem to the very interested, caring, cheerful and highly efficient servers. The wine list was equally impressive in its' breadth and the server very knowledgeable. The "Taste" menu is a misnomer - my partner and I were very well satisfied with the amount and the beautiful presentation of every course. Will I be going back? Of course!
This resturant has amazing food and amazing service. By far some of the best seafood in Calgary!
Very good!. A wonderful menu and a super friendly and hlpful staff!
good for any occasion.
December feature dinner menu. My family and I dined here tonight for their Christmas menu. We found out about it through an ad in the Chinese newspaper and thought, what better way to try out a new restaurant and sort of celebrate Christmas at the same time? Besides, a 4 course dinner for $49 is pretty reasonable!
The restaurant itself is cozy, and the staff are friendly and there were definitely a lot of them around! Our waitress came by shortly after we were seated and we ordered our drinks and food. Everyone started with the lobster bisque besides myself - I had the golden beets salad - I love beets and really want the vegetable! My salad was excellent - simple in taste. The lobster bisque was flavorful and not too salty. Second course was the lobster thermidor - chunks of lobster meat mixed with stuff and cooked in a cheesy creamy sauce - everyone enjoyed this but my husband found it a bit salty.
Third course - I had the lamb, my brother's gf had the chicken breast supreme and everyone else had the steak. The lamb was very tender even though I had it medium well. The steak was a bit thin, but everyone's was cooked exactly the way they had asked for. My brother's gf was not hungry so she had her main packed to go - therefore I had no idea how it tasted. All of the mains were accompanied by potato/rice or winter vegetables, and they were done nicely.
Last course - dessert! Everyone went for the Bailey's creme brulee while I had the chocolate truffle cake. I did take a very small spoonful from my husband's and the Bailey's flavor wasn't very strong, and I thought the creme brulee was only ok. I really liked my chocolate truffle cake - not overly sweet and the espresso ice cream that came with it was very yummy!
Overall we quite enjoyed our dinner and will return again in the future! Service throughout our meal was very attentive and our glasses was never left empty.
Excellent place for any ocassion. I have been there many many times and each time is great.
A MemorableEvening. During that insane cold-snap right before Christmas, when Old Man Winter broke open a big can of whoop-ass on us Calgarians, my husband and I decided to brave the roads and frigid air for a long-overdue date night. (Besides, the sitter was booked!) We didn't want to venture far, so we tried Le Villa. I had heard that reservations were a must, especially on a Friday but we took our chances thinking that some people may not have been as brave (or foolish) as we were. Sure enough, when we arrived, they gladly shuffled the reservation list and squeezed us into the back dining area beside the warm, aromatic wood fireplace. Gazing out the windows at the snow-laden spruce trees which keep the parking lot well-hidden, and perusing the lavish menu by low candle-light set the tone for the evening to unfold in grand fashion. Now, I will say that the menu is pricey. Do not expect to leave without a good hit to your pocketbook. But if you want to have a well-prepared, delicious meal with excellent service, a good selection of wines to choose from, and a beautiful, cozy ambiance, this restaurant would be a great pick. The menu options are not wildly imaginative but they do satisfy if you are looking for a solid continental pick...meat, veggies, starch. I will definitely be back in warmer climes to see how the menu reflects the season and for a chance to re-connect with my spouse in style!
International Fare, well prepared - well presented.. Le Villa Restaurant's menu shows influences from many popular international and regional cuisines. The chefs seem very capable and comfortable with turning out their wide variety of culinary styles in a manner that would satisfy (and perhaps even impress) the specialists.
The atmosphere is classy but comfortable and reasonably quiet. The service is also top caliber and is usually an added bonus to the experience.
For the wine connoisseurs among us, Le Villa has a very decent selection to choose from.
Better make a reservation if you want to make sure you get in on a certain night : good food & service are always in high demand.
Upon entering the restaurant you walk into a cozy rustic dining room but we were then lead to their glass enclosed patio that is warm with heated floors and has a beautiful wood burning fireplace in the center. Our table was in a alcove perfect for the six of us to dine.
