Small little place but one of my personal favourites. Have gone here more times than I can count. Have never had a bad experience. Both sushi and cooked foods are quite delicious. I enjoy the serving plates and dinner ware which sounds weird but nice plates really do make a difference. Sometimes the service is kinda slow but I will continue coming here!
My husband enjoyed Beef teriyaki. Dragon rolls are tasty, I love grilled eel always, fresh avocado, good sushi rice, not too dry not too sticky. Salmon was fresh and the salmon piece for topping is fairly big. Miso soup was not too salty, miso soup in many other Japanese restaurants tend to be too salty. Will definitely go back sometimes:)
Usually get Skip the Dishes from these guys and the sushi always tastes good and is fresh. The tomago nigiri is fantastic, as is the toro. The salads are a bit boring, as are the miso soup but overall the food is very flavourful.
Excellent. One of our local go-tos. Opulent, not terribly expensive, wide range of choices, very accommodating staff. The servings are beautiful to look at as well as delightful to eat!
Nice hole in the wall, it's a small joint but the portion sizes are very decent and generous. Very quick service as well. Will come back for their lunch specials
This is a quaint little place which serves very interesting rolls and is a great place for vegetarians also. The sushi I had here was fresh and always delicious. I have been here dozens of time and have never been disappointed, been here for lunch and dinner. I love their rolls and the ingredients for each roll. The only thing I hope for this place is that they expand their menu, more hot foods to choose from. The Sashimi is sliced thick which is great! Even for their lunch bento box. This place is a must try!
This was amazing. Great food. Great presentation. Good value so we ordered too much and ... ate it all! They were full when we arrived so we had to wait 10 minutes. We looked at the menu. It was worth it. On every dish they passed the "I can't make that at home test." And being full they brought in help to ease the load. Well done on the management side too.

Came here after seeing some reviews and looking through their menu. Only ordered rolls, which were pretty decent but not like amazing. The one with the calamari on top was pretty good like a 2 in 1 roll and appetizer. Some of the sauce on the rolls can be a bit excessive so maybe they should go easy on it? Service can get slow when its busy, it took awhile for the lady to even get our orders and then for our rolls to come.
In an attempt to find last minute sushi options in the North we stumbled upon Sushi Kimu. The sashimi was served as large thick portions (#38 Tuna & Salmon 8pc $17), edamame ($5.45) was a good starter and the rolls were adventurous (#89 Dragon Roll $13, #100 Calgary Roll $13, #93 Valentine Roll $14). I did not enjoy the pairing of sweet kiwi sauces with unagi – but that’s just a personal preference. It was still fun to try something new. I was also a fan of their creative take on the Rainbow Roll (#103 $14) as it allows you to try an array of combinations plus red tuna. Every Japanese restaurant in Calgary has their version of the “Cowboy or Calgary Roll”, Sushi Kimu’s presentation is by far the most impressive I’ve seen with a tower of fried squid on top. I would recommend this restaurant as it offers beautiful food, a cozy location for a date night or takeout for a night in…
This is where I love to go when I'm craving for some giant sushi rolls! My favourite is definitely the volcano roll. The sushi here is fresh too and the price is reasonable. This place is always packed on the weekends and they don't take reservations, that's the down side of it...

I was recommend by a co-worker to check this place out.
We live fairly close as does a friend of ours and we frequent this area for dinner quite often so we decided to give this spot a try.
What a great little spot, and when I say little I mean little, there are maybe 12 tables so its quaint. You can't judge this place by the outside but once you walk in the door it's very inviting and very well decorated. They were very quick to greet us and sit us. The menu is very well put together with stunning pictures which I find very helpful when ordering sushi. I love that they use re-usable laminated sheets with dry erase markers for their sushi order sheets, shows they are environmentally friendly.
They had two sushi chefs working so once we handed in our order everything came out very quickly. We actually got our sushi before our friend who order the Tomcatsu, which was delicious according to him. The presentation was spot on, quality was spot on as was the flavor!! All pluses!! I have to admit I had quite the craving for sushi as it's been awhile since I've had it and I totally ordered more than we could eat, but that's fine...I have a great lunch to look forward to today!!
Overall we were very impressed with this find. Great atmosphere, great service, great quality and great flavor as well as a great price. This place we found very reasonable compared to many of the other sushi places. We will defiantly be making this our local sushi spot.
Cute little restaurant. Really friendly sweet staff. The menu is huge so there is so many choices ! Overall everything we had was really good. My only complaint is that the sushi rolls came out so fast ! Considering how complex the rolls are they were ready in moments, the sushi was fresh but considering how fast it came out I would assume some of it is prepped ahead of time. The Calgary roll really interested us as the photo was so neat in the menu, I had expected the calamari on top to be warm, but it was cold so that was a bit of a disappointment. The appetizer crispy salmon rocket was really good i would definitely recommend that. The beef tataki was still quite frozen - I needed to wait to eat it and even then it was still super cold, the sauce on top was delicious though. It is a bit on the pricey side but overall a neat place to try ! We were in and out in less then 45 minutes.
Amazing sushi place. Some of the best I've had in the city, a true hidden gem. Fish is consistently fresh, huge portions and good service. If I had to pick a down side it would be the rolls (such as dynamite) are too large. Just a personal preference, not a flaw.
Fish quality is excellent. The presentation could sometimes use some work but for the price, quality, quantity, and service, it's become my go-to place when I need a quick sushi fix.
Sushi kimu is a smaller restaurant that offers a medium sized selection of sushi and hot items. The quality of the sushi has been good every time I've dined in at kimu but the service is sometimes disorganized and not super personable. But never rude! Would go here again for something fresh and simple
Great sushi! Probably one of my favorites right now! Really fresh and the servings are decently sized for the price. I almost didn't want to write a review for this restaurant just so I wouldn't draw too much attention to this place. Good sushi restaurants are hard to come by plus they are so small. This place is busy enough as is!
Sushi Kimu is hit and miss. My company is close to hear so I ate here a few times. Sometimes it's been good, sometimes average, and one time I got sick from here as well with the person i was with. That's the last time I went. Although I have had some decent sushi here 50% of the time. Enter at you own risk?
The spotlight is their sushi rolls which has a lot of fusion choices as well as some creative ones. Overall, a great little place for sushi rolls with generous portion sizes for the price.
Came with my boyfriend for our first dinner date a while back, very cozy atmosphere, food is decent, definitely recommend! Very fresh, service is friendly!
It's always nice to find sushi restaurants to try, especially when they are close!
Parking/decor: lots of parking in the lot. The restaurant is very small but decorated well. The ambiance is quite dark especially if they don't open the blinds.
Food: They have a really good assortment of rolls and the fish is fresh. I really liked the special rolls with mango. We had the beef kalbi which was good but I wish they had given us two bowls for the rice as we had clearly said we were sharing
Service: food was fast and our server checked in with us after every dish. Overall good.
I'd definitely come here again just for the rolls, but their cooked food is only OK.
Decided to come here for my sister's birthday, it is a small and cozy sushi restaurant. Presentation was quite nice, service was fast and good. Sashimi was pretty fresh, the rolls were alright. :)
this little sushi restaurant is a gem that is hidden inside the huntington plaza. i didnt notice it until i went to my eye doctor. It was right by it :)
I have gone here once for dinner and twice for lunch. they offer big size bento boxes for lunch. I ordered a salmon don and the salmon was super fresh and tasty. Another dish i enjoyed was the Sushi roll with Calamari on top. that was soo tasty. the calamari was an added bonus on top of the sushi.. crispy and not too heavy.
I need to try the chicken katsu next time. i heard from my dad it was good.

I have been to this restaurant to eat in, and had take out several times, and every time I have visited this place the staff are friendly, helpful, and eager to serve. The food is great, if you're a sushi lover you will enjoy their wide range of unique and familiar choices that are always fresh and well made (they don't fall apart). Their prices are extremely fair and you get more than you'd expect when it comes to sushi, the rolls are above average for size earning better bang for your buck than other popular sushi places.

This is one of my favourite place for sashimi. Their service is friendly, their presentation is beautiful and their sashimi is fresh. My husband and I usually like to order one tuna and one salmon sashimi and each order comes with seven perfectly sliced thick sashimi. Each bite is fresh, and savoury.

Innovative Creations. This small unassuming restaurant offers some leading edge rolls on their menu. The slices of fish are large, the roll sizes are generous and the food is quite delicious.
If you want some out of the ordinary sushi rolls, Sushi Kimu has plenty to offer. The rolls are complex and stuffed with a variety of ingredients. There are some definite tried and true combos like mango, avocado, and unagi sauce, but how it's used is the impressive part. The Kimu Roll is tempura shrimp mixed with gobs of cream cheese and wrapped in salmon and mango to guarantee flavour in each bite. The Double Crunch Rolls are simple fish rolls, but loaded with tempura flakes and onion flakes for a strong, delicious texture.
My personal favourite of the night was the Dragon Eye. Not because I'm a sucker for deep fried rolls, but because it was a massive roll with tons of ingredients from green onion, carrot, avocado, cucumber and salmon all wrapped in a warm fried tempura batter package.
Sushi Kimu is by no means a large place and for a Friday night it definitely had steady business. The staff was busy the entire night, but the food came out in nicely timed waves and thanks to the sizes of the rolls it took my group time to clear out each dish. For a small shop in the NE suburbs, the prices were also reasonable, the average rolls never went past $12.
Definitely take time to visit Sushi Kimu if you enjoy creative sushi rolls.

Delicious!. What a fantastic little find! The rolls are creative, large and great value. Sashimi is fresh and some of the best I have had - I am addicted to the spicy tuna sashimi, the sauce is very different and the pieces of cubed tuna are HUGE. Some of the best value for a sushi place in the city - you really are getting top quality for a reasonable price. The staff are also very good - I recently took a few members of my team there for a lunch meeting, they were very accommodating with the multiple first time sushi-ers in our group and dividing up the bill. I cannot wait to return.
Great!. This is possibly my favorite sushi place in the city. My bf always says their salmon is always fresh which is great. Their rolls are ammmaazing, especially their Las Vegas and love roll. I also love love their beef tataki, the flavours are so rich. Would really recommend!

Pleasantly surprised!. I was a little skeptical coming to Kimu considering it used to be a tattoo shop. Once you step inside, you can see they did a lot of renos. It is surprisingly very, very nice inside and extremely clean which is a big plus. Everyone working here is friendly and very helpful. Food is delicious. One of my new favourites. Beef tataki is to die for. Wow! Definitely worth checking out. I will be back.

Outstanding. I have visited Sushi Kimu three times now and I do not have anything bad to say about them. I love their small size and family feel. Once you step inside, it feels like you can almost see everything, from the seating area to the kitchen. It's easy to take your time to mark off your order on your own time. I also appreciate that they had the mindfulness to make a cute menu to show off their items when their simple list card may have worked well enough alone. Speaking of cute, the staff are pretty cute and sweet too, and the staff are the main reason why I like Sushi Kimu so much.
The staff have been consistently friendly and thoughtful, and are attentive to the needs of each table. They bring us extra utensils when they see we need them and always have a cheery smile on for us. I have seen rude customers treat the ladies poorly before, but they are never fazed. My family loves the staff there.
In many cases, restaurants have an imbalance between their food and service. Sometimes you have great food but terrible service. Sometimes you have terrible food but great service. Sushi Kimu does both well. Whether it be portion size, freshness, or presentation, Sushi Kimu does not go wrong. Sashimi cuts are generous just as they are generous with everything else. Despite this, costs are very reasonable. In fact, I might say they are inexpensive when compared to other overrated Japanese restaurants in Calgary.
All in all, I love eating at Sushi Kimu and they have quickly become my favorite place to eat at the moment. I wish them good business but at the same time I hope they stay the small, warm, and friendly restaurant that they are.
Eat here. Now.. Great prices and even better food. They have the usual bread and butter rolls but they all have a unique twist. A must eat for all sushi eaters.

Soft shell crab salad is a must. The salmon Kama is awesome. And toro!!

Amazing takeout. I came with my sister for lunch, which was great, so I came to grab some takeout. So amazing. Everything was beautifully packaged. The sashimi was on top of ice. All the sauces were put separately and labled. Utterly amazing!
Pleasant!. I came here for dinner with my mom last night because it was pretty close to where we live. Like others, we thought it wouldn't be good because of the location but we were pleasantly surprised. The sashimi was thick and fresh, the rolls were beautiful and plated beautifully as well. The calimari wasn't the best, and the beef udon soup was kind of sweet which was weird. Other than that, it was great and I'd come back again.
My new go to sushi. I was hesitant to come here because of the location... and have now been back 3 times since.
The restaurant is newly renovated, decorated in a modern contemporary but not a "hands-off" type way.
The sushi is presented on a bed of ice, which I love just so you can take your time eating it and don't feel rushed to eat it right away so it doesn't sit out in the warm. The beef sashimi is the BEST my husband and I have ever tried.
The owners are Korean but everything is pretty authentic as far as western standards go. The service is amazing - all very friendly, chatty, attentive and warm.
AWESOME PLACE. This place is awesome! A small little place but the sushi is awesome very fresh and tasty! With so many different types of rolls. A great little place will absolutely be back! The service is great too!!
Average Sushi. Overall, the sushi and service was good but nothing spectacular. The fish was fresh, but they need make the rice better as it fell apart easily. The price was average as well compared to other sushi restuarants.

Awesome!. Sushi Kimu was a delight when it comes to the service, the server inquired about our meal about three times, as well, plates were promptly removed when the food was consumed. The sushi itself was good, the rocky (?) roll, had nice thick pieces of salmon and fish roe that had the amusing "pop" when bitten. The cream cheese was also an interesting inclusion. The combo we ordered was also delicious, the tempura was fried crisply, not burnt but not powdery either and the salad was exquisitely displayed. However, I do have one small complaint, the rice was not packed together well, thus it was difficult to eat individual pieces intact, even though the taste of the sushi pieces were delicious. All in all, a great experience.
Excellent atmosphere, amazing service, best sushi in all of calgary, easily a top restaraunt in calgary, food is prepared perfectly, plating and appearance is exquisite. Most importantly the taste is simply wonderful brings joy to everyone. Seating is limited but food is focused and on point couldn't ask for a better experience. They are all nice people even offered extra sushi on the house because we are regulars.
AMAZING!!!! So good. Super fresh. SUPER AFFORDABLE. I always dislike going somewhere and paying $12-18 for a roll. Although some rolls are $15 the size and quality is worth it. Even the rolls that come w 6-8 pieces are only $6-$8. The salmon crush roll was my favorite!!! Their Tofu is great. good portion. This place is super close to my work so I will be here more. Hidden Gem. As many have already posted, we have also been watching this on Urbanspoon for quite some time. It seems it only gets good reviews. We had just stopped there for lunch today to see what all the fuss was about! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and sat us right away. We ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Rolls, Vegetable Rolls, Crispy Spicy Tuna Rolls, and the Spicy California Rolls.
Neither of us had tried chicken rolls or the vegetable rolls before, so we thought we would give it a go. The presentation was superb and we couldn't more pleased. The taste was on point and delicious, making you want to keep going back for more. The vegetable rolls had so many assorted veggies in them, it truly was a tasty treat. The prices were more than reasonable - we left with full stomachs and took some to go.
We would highly recommend Sushi Kimu for anyone who loves sushi. It is nice to finally find a good Japanese restaurant in the area. We will definitely be going back again and again.
Amazing!. I came across this restaurant and it was the best sushi I had in a long time. I lost faith in most of the big sushi restaurants as their quality of service and food became worse and worse. It's a long drive for me as I live in the SW but I will definitely be coming here from now on. No more Globe Fish for me!
Great quality sushi!. The quality of sushi at this place is great! We loved the sashimi. Texture, taste, temperature, and execution is all spot on. The staff was a bonus... very very friendly and great attention to detail. For 3 of us leaving full the bill came to $70... not bad for quality food!
The Best. This is the best sushi that I have ever had in Calgary. The service was great. My first experience here was a good one. I will be back here often.
Great Food, Even Better Service. I went here today with my family after hearing so many good reviews on urbanspoon. It does live up to it's reviews. The portions were more then generous. We had Deluxe Combo and Chicken Nanban which was cooked nice and crisp with a special sauce on the side.
Service was very phenomenal with the whole staff greeting and laughing like a family.
Will comeback soon for a lunch next time!
If you're nearby, I'd recommend to check this place out sooner or later.

Yummy!. We went to Sushi Kimu for NYE, just sort of a random thing as we had previously passed by the sign in the Hunterhorn plaza. We were really lucky to get a table as all the tables after us had to wait. It’s a fairly small establishment with a handful of tables. It took a few minutes longer than most Japanese restaurants to get our order drinks (tea). However, overall the service was pleasant. The best of all, was the food! Prices are average, I don’t think they’re as low as what some people have said.... The three of us ordered the Kimu couple combo B (the one with sashimi), Chicken Nanban (Japanese style sweet and sour chicken with a side salad), and 2 regular sized rolls – Rocky Mountain and Calgary roll. They have an odd promotion of 20% off regular not large rolls. The regular size is pretty much the typical size at most restaurants, I saw a large and it was massive!!! Everything tasted phenomenal and fresh, even the tuna which I usually avoid. The Calgary roll was good because of the deep fried squid, however next time we agreed to just order the squid and leave the roll because the roll itself was pretty boring compared to the rocky mountain one. The couples combo did not cheap out in portions. The salad that it comes with is beautifully structured with mango on the side. The nanban chicken was deep fried crispy, not greasy. We were so full at the end of our meal but had to pack away so much food. I’d highly recommend trying Sushi Kimi out. I even noticed a gorgeous sashimi platter that another table ordered so I think I know what I’m ordering....

New kid on the block didn't disappoint. Been wanting to try this place ever since they renovated it into a restaraunt from a tattoo place.
I can see why it has gotten so many likes. Sushi was excellent. I had the large combo plus some tempura and spider rolls.
The sushi sizes were very generous and tasted great. Loved the spider rolls. The shrimp tempura was some of the best I ever had. I would definitely recommend this place.
Only downside was it is a little small in there. When the door opened there was a cool rush of air that would come with it. A small sacrifice really for the food quality and value.
As a plus, they packed up the left overs with packets of soy sauce, fresh ginger, and wasabi so it was like a lunch box for the next day.
Will definitely return soon.
Sushi Kimu. Finally a great sushi restaurant in the neighborhood. The sushi is fresh, the prices are decent and the staff are so friendly. If you enjoy sushi this is the place to go in the Huntington Hills area.
Hidden Jem. Since I'm new to the area I don't think there is much for sushi near by...I'm grateful to have stumbled upon this spot because the food and service is great.
Dishes were reasonably priced and delicious. They don't skimp out on portions of fish like some other well known (trendy) spots.
The interior is clean and intimate. Staff, attentive and friendly.
I highly recommend Kimu...it will definitely be on my regular rotation for sushi fixes.
