Took my whole family here for my sisters birthday. Just had a baby so it's a pretty big ordeal to pack an infant and the whole family out. We opted for the deluxe all you can eat option. Server left the everyday big menu at our table along with the all you can eat menu. We ordered 8 of the 10 items on the all you can eat menu and I stepped out to feed my little one. It took a while for our food which was fine because we were told it would be a bit but I came back to food that was probably sufficient for one person and we had a family of 5 sitting there. My dad not speaking English ordered more but from their everyday main menu thinking it was part of the all you can eat since it was left at our table. The server didn't say anything or make sure that he knew while I had stepped out. Taking 30 minutes for our order only to have enough food for 1 person show up for an all you can eat? Brilliant! Excellent set up guys. To top it all off when I went to pay a $180 bill and gave them $220 the guy looked at me weird and asked $220? I said yes and he stood there for a minute and then asked "do you need change?" I really wanted to leave what I owed to the nearest cent but couldn't bring myself to. Can't believe the staff had the audacity to imply for a bigger tip though they weren't even close to deserving the 15% I left. Mediocre food at best and atrocious service. Thank you for making a first outing in a while such a shitty experience. If I had known I would have driven a bit further down to Seoul on Macleod where I'm never let down.
*** I was contacted right away with enthusiasm and asked to come back to be taken care of again. The service and food was fantastic. Though the rest of my family could not make it my sister was really happy to have a make up dinner from the last experience. Will recommend and come back. I do appreciate it for doing that for her! Thank you!
You guys have two new fans! The food was truly yummy. Loved the seaweed, the fried seaweed, the glass noodles, the fried chicken, I could run down your whole list, but to full right now.
For six years we've been patrons of one of our competitors, and we still like them. However...we LOVE you guys. The food was great and your personable service was even better. Loved the way you guys made us feel upon entering.
Thank you for a great meal!
Awesome and very affordable. Great service and fun delicious food... The only thing they could do better is have air-conditioning cause cooking at the table gets a wee bit warm
My wife and I had the all you can eat buffet. Lots of meats and side dishes. Food is excellent. Service was excellent. Good prices and relaxed atmosphere. We will comeback for sure.
exceptional food and service. This the best Korean restaurant in Calgary. Portions size are good. Fun to cook BBQ with you friends.
Food was perfect and staff was really friendly and efficient.
Went to Gogi for the first time with my wife and friend. We weren't quite sure, but decided to go for the all-you-can-eat BBQ option, which needs to be ordered for everyone at the table. This works out to an equivalent price of 2 main meat dishes per person, or one main plus 1.5 appetizers.
We got an order of glass noodles each, along with dumplings and bibimbap to start. We also ordered one chicken, one pork, one beef, and one pork belly to barbecue at our table. These were all very tasty, but our favorites were the thinly-sliced beef and pork bulgogi. We liked them so much, we ordered a second portion of both, but that was probably a mistake as it was almost too much to eat. We were able to finish that, which was necessary to avoid extra charges.
In summary, the food was good, but go slowly with the ordering at the end.
Food was reasonably priced. Got the bulgogi which was not a lean as I would have liked but had good flavour. Had the seafood and soft tofu stew was was good! Good amount of lettuce and rice given. Was not the biggest fan of the side dish choice. No potatoes or bean sprouts which are my favorites. Service was slow in every aspect. Was not given any water to start, had to ask and it was room temperature. Had to asked for utensils so could not eat right away. However the staff was very friendly. Might have just been short staffed today? Would still go again. Good thing I was not super hungry when I got there initially!
Absolutely delicious Korean food ! Attentive kind waiters and waitresses who kept the kimchi and side dishes flowing !! The spicy pork hot pot was really good. The beef bulgogi and pork belly were also amazing. It was a great meal that we got to cook at our table, enjoy conversation and not feel rushed. In terms of Korean restaraunts in the north this is my new favorite ! We will be back.
Gogi offers an all you can eat Korean BBQ experience. If you decide to chose the deluxe option it's $28 per person which also includes choices like bulgogi, chicken, pork, short ribs and your side dishes (kimchi, lettuce used for wraps, pickled radish, fish cakes and potatos). There is no limit to what you can get. So there are two options of cooking either do it yourself or if you're feeling lazy have the kitchen do it. I'd recommend the kitchen do it for you because they add extra garnishes on it. The flavor of the meat here is less salted with a charcoal taste - A bit of burnt taste (different than other Korean places) but what I really like about this place was their choice in quality meat, less fatty. A couple other food choices on the deluxe menu was the deep fried seaweed (contained japchae) and boneless chicken sweet and sour (lean meat and a nice crunch). I didn't have any issues with the service here and the waiter checked on us multiple times. Rating here is higher for their choice of lean meats, service and atmosphere.
Good weekday jam. Spicy Pork Hock for 2-3 people sooooooo good. Oxtail soup thumbs up. AYCE is way better if the cook it for you, they garnish your Short Ribs with onions, and the texture is better than cooking on the table grill. They also serve purple rice now. Service is pretty good, better than some other Asian establishments. They also check if sure you've had enough. Their kimchee is really good too.
The customer service was good. The server was very considerate and even asked if we wanted extra side dishes. I got one of the lunch specials which was $13.lthough the tomato patties were too sour for a my liking. Overall good time.😄
This was my second time coming to this restaurant. I was worried the second time around, as the first time was a horrible experience. We waited a long time for the server to serve us, as well as the food did not come out after an 1 hour of waiting, even though the restaurant had no customers but us. However, the second visit surprised me. The server was kind and quick. I enjoyed the seafood pancake we ordered as well as the soup which was very light.
Had the spicy tofu soup a few days ago ago gogi. It was really quiet at lunch here. The seafood soup was pretty tasty, I asked for a side of jalapeños and it had 0 spice. There wasn't a shortage of seafood in the bowl. The side dishes was up to par with most korean restaurants. I did ask for extra spicy but it came in as very little spice.
Had an excellent time at Gogi Korean BBQ. The service is much better now than when the restaurant was Wayo. We ordered the combo for 2-3 people which came with soup, salad, side dishes, dumplings, and 3 different BBQ meats. Everything was delicious and we had extra to take home.
Great value on ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT that they just started. Meats are fresh and tasty as well as the spicy rice cake and deep fried seaweed roles. Love it!
Great taste and fair price. Both the ox bone soup and marinated beef short ribs are not overly salty, and the side dishes are fresh with good variety!
Everything was fresh and super tasty! We really enjoyed our BBQ and all the sides. Our service experience was very friendly and attentive - I think the chef comes out when you order BBQ. We left very satisfied and will definitely return.
I have had a few very enjoyable meals at this Restaurant. It has a great varied menu with a lot of authentic shared Korean dishes. That is why the prices seem high but it is a lot of food and many of these dishes are meant to be shared among two or more people. The staff are very pleasant and provide great service. I guess the person below with their sample size of one meal had a different experience but I have really enjoyed eating there.
I've been here a few times for lunch and first time for dinner tonight... oh wow! Let's start off with their $13 lunch combos, so much food and for only $1.50 extra you can get beef ribs... and it's HUGE pieces of tender juicy ribs!!
Dinner tonight was even better... seafood pancake with so much seafood and crispy edges, with a perfect dipping sauce (sweet soy sauce with a bit of heat)... beef bulgogi, japchae and stone bibimap to round out the meal... everything was super tasty... japchae has the perfect chew to the noodles and the stone pot was super hot to get that awesome toasted crispy rice in the bibimap.
The only thing I didn't quite enjoy as much was the spicy beef soup, it was perfectly spicy but the underlying broth didn't have much beef taste as it should.
Went with a large work group about 15 of us . Awesome service ! Short ribs, chicken wings and seafood pancakes are must haves!
Neighborhood gem! Nice and new deco. Reasonable prices ($13 for hot stone). Good services. Good foods. There is a changing table in lady's bathroom too. Will come back for sure.
Could be better priced perhaps. My girlfriend and I happen to stumble upon this restaurant.
Apparently, this place used to be something else.
We were quite shocked by the prices on the menu, maybe this is standard for Calgary Korean restaurant but from where I come from(Toronto) it certainly is not.
After taking a long look at their menu, we decided to go with pork belly bbq for two, which was 35.
The price seems reasonable for this menu as it usually is around 30~35 even in Toronto.
However it did not include a Korean stew that generally comes with all bbq menus for two in other restaurants.
The servers were very polite and attentive. Their side dishes were very fresh and tasty, which is not always the case with Korean restaurants. Pork belly tasted alright.
Overall great experience; however some of the menu prices did shock us.
Excellent. Tried this new Korean restaurant today and was overall very satisfied with the experience! I have been to the old place and I must say the new make over the restaurant received was awesome. The vibe is more modern, yet it has a good Korean feel to it.
Above all though, the food was delicious. Korean BBQ meat and Pork hock highly recommended! The pork bone soup there (gam-ja-tang) was also tasty and was very suiting for the cold weather.
Thumbs up!
